If COVID And Guns Are To Blame, Why Has Dallas Seen A Reduction In Crime?

View descriptionShare

Today, Dom Giordano leads off black Friday by asking listeners for what they believe to be the best bargains of all time. Then, Giordano moves into a discussion of crime, highlighting a Tweet by Fox29’s Steve Keeley, calling attention to the Dallas crime and homicide rate. Dallas, a city of comparable size to Philadelphia, has seen crime decrease while we in Philadelphia have seen record-setting crime numbers. Giordano and producer Dan discuss the underlying reasons for this, and ask how the Mayor and DA can argue that the pandemic and guns are at fault for the rash of violence, while a state that has less strict gun and COVID laws have seen a decrease.

Then, Alan Dershowitz rejoins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss the result of the Ahmaud Arbery case, in which all three assailants were determined guilty of felony murder and multiple other counts. First, Dershowitz tells of when he was scolded in Martha’s Vineyard by Larry David, telling his regret of falling out of a relationship with somebody he used to consider a close friend. Then, Dershowitz gives his thoughts on the trial, and discusses the concept of cancel culture and the changing rhetoric of political discussion. (Photo by Getty Images)
