Gloucester City Mayor Spencer Hopes To Work With Philadelphia To Curb 'Boom Parties'

View descriptionShare

Mayor Daniel Spencer of Gloucester City, NJ, joins the Dom Giordano Program to discuss what his town is doing to combat the ‘boom parties’ emanating from Philadelphia, providing sound pollution to over 100 square miles of South Jersey, including Gloucester City. At these 'boom parties,' hobbyists show off their vehicular sound systems to one another without much thought for who or what they may be disturbing. First, Spencer and Giordano discuss how the town has adapted under the threat of Coronavirus, with Spencer explaining that many planned projects had to be tabled due to pandemic concerns. Then, Spencer and Giordano discuss the city’s efforts to combat the ‘boom parties,’ with Spencer chronologically laying out his efforts to coordinate with the city of Philadelphia to bring an end to the sound pollution. Gloucester City has produced an ordinance and has written a letter to multiple politicians in and around Philadelphia, including the Mayor, and hasn’t received a response. Spencer lays out how he plans to change the situation, and promotes an upcoming Zoom event addressing the issue in conjunction with the Philadelphia City Watch. (Photo by Getty Images)
