Finding the Vaccine for COVID-19 is Imperative

View descriptionShare

Dom Giordano talks with Dr. Arthur Caplan, founding head of the Division of Medical Ethics at NYU School of Medicine, about speeding up the process of vaccine research by testing the vaccine and giving a person the disease. Caplan explains it can take years for somebody to be infected by the disease and adds that the country will not get out of this plague until a vaccine is available. Caplan talks about the availability of volunteers for the studies and the concerns about paying people to participate in the studies. Caplan compares volunteering for the coronavirus vaccine studies to being a test pilot. Plus, Caplan talks about how the medical community needs to move faster than Jonas Salk when he created the Polio vaccine.
