We read a book that was actually good - two young men meet in Brighton, the gayest city in the world, and become lovers forever. Our main character played hockey and was secretly gay but now he's got a bum knee and an open heart. We also get schooled on the 23rd POTUS, Edwin (Edward?) Something-dy Something. The book, Jerry Cole's Cross Checking the Atlantic M/M Gay Romance, is no longer available on Amazon (boo!) but you can still get it from Cole's website using that link.
