If Season 1 of The Devil’s Quarry was a horror story, Season 2 is a ghost story.

More than 30 years ago, 17-year-old Robin Murphy disappeared from Carmel, New York. Robin was a teenager with a sharp sense of humor, a taste for alternative music, and a goth identity that made her stand out in a small town. She worked at ShopRite, spent time with friends at the local shopping center, and seemed, to the people who knew her, impossible to forget. Then she vanished. The last person known to see Robin was a man who would go on to be convicted of brutal sexual assaults, but was never charged in her disappearance. In the years that followed, investigators pursued leads, friends and strangers searched for answers, and Robin’s family was left with uncertainty that never really ends. The case became part of Carmel's landscape: a story whispered about, a mystery that refused to die.

Now, Rolling Stone Magazine’s investigative journalist Paul Solotaroff returns with reporter Kathleen Horan to go back into the darkness. As the original case file reopens, they uncover new witnesses, revisit overlooked or misunderstood evidence, and follow a trail back to a man who has spent decades behind bars, with clues that may have been hiding in plain sight all along. What emerges is a story about a vanished girl, a predator who may have escaped accountability, and a community forced to confront what it failed to see.

With the clock ticking and answers closer than ever, the search for Robin enters its most critical chapter. What happened to her? Where did the investigation go wrong? And after more than three decades, can the truth finally bring Robin home?
