You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.
If you're ordering the calendars, we hope to get them to you probably in the next couple of weeks. We do have some calendars that we will autograph for you as well. Twenty twenty five calendars available on danpatrick dot com. Satan, what's the poll question for the first hour. That's the year.
Twenty twenty five, not twenty to twenty five calendars available.
Correct, twenty twenty five is the calendar year? Yes, yes, yes, there are more than twenty to twenty five calendars available, yes, yes, yes, right.
Do you want Paul's pole question or the multitude of thods Todds?
Yeah, let me start with PAULI because he seemed like he was in a good mood today. Yes, maybe that will be reflected in his poll question. Yes, yes, Paul.
Before the poll, I was just looking at the lebron James. He turns forty on December thirtieth, Oka, like you, you were just saying, like he's going to have he's going to create all the forty records the next months, like they're going to be his and his forever. And then the other guy who's really relevant Cooper Flag. He turns eighteen eighteen on December nineteenth.
Yeah, all right, he'll be in the NBA next year as an eighteen year old.
December twenty first, two thousand and six is when Cooper Flag was born, two thousand and six. On that night, Lebron was in his like third year, fourth year in the league, and had twenty six points.
Then, y, yeah, Lebron will face him. Lebron will be forty, Cooper Flag will be eighteen, and Bronni will probably still be in the G League only playing home games.
Yes, Seaton, Yeah, we're about to hit an era two where let's see if Cooper Flag was born in two thousand and six, right, we started doing the show and you're attic in two thousand and seven, so we're going to we're reaching an era where modern professional athletes entire lifespan has been lived during this version of The Dan Patrick Show.
Okay, all right, I feel old.
Yeah, same.
What are some of Todd's whole questions? Oh well, no, we didn't get to Paulie.
Oh yeah, that's right, Paul the most sure thing future, the future you would bet most on. All right, Victor wimban Yama at a Monster Knight, Jayden Daniels, Okay, he's doing well. We have room for two others. Travis Hunter could be on there. That's a bit of a risky one.
Schu Door Sanders.
Okay, if he wanted to put nepotism.
Any other youngsters that you want to put in there?
Right?
That is the question, isn't it.
Yeah, it feels like we need a baseball youngster, but they don't really exist.
Kidding?
One Soto.
Yeah, I'll tell you what. I'll bet on his bank account's future. That's for damn sure.
I don't want him. I don't want him.
What.
No, I don't want your Anti Soto. I am Anti Soto. No, No, not interested. It's it's so much money, over so many years. I just I have no interest in that.
None.
You know, I got Otani. Otani's special. He's unique. There's no one like him. One Soto. The talented player bounced around a couple of teams, already gonna be bouncing around again. And you're gonna pay him six hundred million dollars. If I'm paying that kind of money, I want you to be a gate attraction. I want you to be a box office star. One Soto is not a box office star. He's just a really good baseball player. I mean, Mike Trout as great as he is, not a box office star. You just go that guy knows how to play.
All right.
Like, if I'm spending that kind of money, you got to be great.
So five years ago you were cool with Bryce Harper because he puts people on the.
Sta Yes, he is a box he's he would be a box office kind of ballplayer. Absolutely, you would show up. People show up to see him. Aaron Judge, they show up to see him. Otani, they show up to see him. But I don't know if there's anybody else in that category. And I'm not spending six hundred million dollars on him. Like what market am I tapping into? I got Japan with Otani and we saw that in the ratings, like they're watching fifteen million people a night when they were in the playoffs. But Juan Soto, he's an average fielder. He's a wonderful hitter, but what does he have, Like are you saying, man, he whoses with charisma or whatever it might be. No, I don't want one Soto talented player, but that kind of money, I got to get a little bit more.
Yes, Marvin, about a discount of only three hundred million dollars.
Oh, it's not gonna happen because Scott Morris is his agent.
Oh, I'd say it was gonna happen. But if it was three hundredllion dollars, would you take him over?
How many years?
Tayll?
Of course I would. That's thirty million a year, so what's sixty?
Come on, what's another thirty?
Don't hire the Barbinezer agent. Thirty million. Yeah, that's the difference between thirty million and sixty.
Wan Soda just turned twenty six years old for all Star games in a row.
Yeah, I don't. I don't care. I don't want that, not for that kind of money. I gotta get something off the field as well. Yes, Mark, but.
There's only three guys that are really box office in Major League Baseball anyway, So you're gonna have to overpay for him. You're gonna have to overpay for all these guys except for Judge.
You have a Judge is worth that. Otani's worth that, Like they give me more. Judges must see TV. Otanis must see TV. When's the last time you said, hey, let me know when Ota or let me know, when Soda up to the plate, it doesn't happen. You're not showing up to see him. Boy, he hit a ball, you know, clear out a Yankee stadium. He's a really good player. But there has to be some fiscal responsibility when you're just saying, hey, here you go.
Now.
I'm sure they have their accountants and they can say this is why this is going to work. I mean, even the money the Dodgers spent on Otani, I mean, I got it. It's still seven hundred million dollars and all takes is an injury or two and then what do you have and then you're paying off somebody. I mean, I don't get it. But I mean Soto is going to get that money because Scott Morris is going to make sure he gets that money. You're going to go to the highest bidder. Red Sox are going to be involved, Yankees, Mets, maybe the Giants, San Francisco Giants get involved in this. Hey, who knows, they'll be There'll be enough. There'll be enough teams to make this interesting. That's all Scott Morris wants. I need somebody to bid against somebody. That's it. Yes, Yeah, poem.
It is funny that star power and production doesn't always match. Like Ellie de la Cruz of the Reds has a truckload of star power and he's fun to watch these exciting he's like a wild man out there. But his numbers are good. He's got good numbers. Not Ronald Acunya numbers or Jan Soda numbers, but Ellie de la Cruz. When I see on Sports Center or whatever, Oh he's up or here's a highlight, I tune in. I picked my head up a little bit.
Well, first of all, you got a short stop who's doing this and he's maybe the fastest guy in bad Like there's entertainment to him. Now, do I want to spend six hundred and seven hundred million on Ellie de la Cruz. No, I don't. But you know, this is why teams get into these situations. The Browns were stupid and they go, we gotta have Deshaun Watson. We're gonna give him whatever we want. Now, look at what he's done to the franchise. You know the Giants with Daniel Jones, lads give him the money. Like you know Jaguars do they have a franchise quarterback they gave him the money here. You know, just you get drunk. Sometimes you're like, we got to be really smart, we got to be really smart. And then all of a sudden they were like, let's be stupid. And then you start spending this money, and then you say to your team, we can't do anything. We're financially strapped. Let's be stupid. Yeah, let's stupid. You do that on a daily basis, right, Todd? Now we make a living. Yes, how stupid we could be for three hours? Okay, what other poll questions do we have?
Stupid?
Let's see, we could dive into the t O dubs. Oh okay, those are always enlightening. Od this is one of Todd's. Do you like big men shooting threes? Heck yeah, it's kind of freakishly awesome.
Or hate it? Stay down low and grab rebounds, dude, I like when they make threes. I don't like when they shoot threes. Kind of feel like it's unfair. Well, you're not go a block when by Nyama's shot on the perimeter. Uh, Karl Anthony Towns, he had a I think he had forty six last night.
I reinvented the game.
Yes he did. I think this the first time in NBA history that you've had three players on the same night score forty six or more. So you had Jannis and you had Victor, and then you had Karl Anthony in the towns.
Yes, yes, see, big men shooting threes is kind of like a bear. It's unfair that a bear is that strong, that fast, and can climb. That's unfair. There's no reason to be all three of those things. You could be that fast, you could be that strong, but don't climb. Come on, this is stupid. You ever see how fast they climb a tree is crazy. That's what Victor wembin Yama being a good three point shooter is.
We're gonna call him the bear bear, the Victor the bear when bear Yama? Okay, got it, Todd, Yes, Paul.
He's up to eight and a half threes attempted per game. He took five and a half last year. His three point percentages up from thirty two to thirty five percent.
He's twenty one years old. But see, that's the scary part. And I always said, if Yannis learned how to hit a mid range jumper, no one would be able to stop him. He could average forty a night if he wanted to, Well, he doesn't have a good shot, but wehm ban Yama. If you say, all right, pick your poison perimeter or inside, then that's dangerous. And he's really young. He's got a handle. He can be inside outside, he can play defense inside and outside. He can play defense inside and outside while not even moving. He can be in the paint and still guard you on the perimeter. Scary what the future is for him? I would definitely I would invest in that stock of all the younger players that you're talking about. Victor Wembnyama. He's just learning how to play the game. And if you get a consistent point guard with him, scary, scary how great he's going to be. And he's had three consecutive re good games here where he's getting thirty and twelve and then you know, you have fifty points in twenty six minutes of work. I mean, if you're looking at points per minute, that's up. There is there an efficiency rating? What is yeah? The efficiency rate? Let me check the metrics here.
The efficiency rating.
On this it's got to be off the charts. Is that how somebody in analytics speaks? Well, I don't know it feels like we always say, you know, that's what, let me check the metrics here. I would probably be more like, well, let me check the efficiency rating on this, and then we'll see that sounds actually one of the top performers this year in efficiency rating. And then you have to push your glasses back.
Are you kidding me?
Victor Wimbanama's inficiency rating?
Right now?
It's all the Jains, the best in the league.
That's pretty perfect, right there.
We're such no at all, We're perfect. Let's be stupid, all right, let me take a break.
It's just more fun when you make fun of everything.
It's just more fun. Well, when you make fun of yourself, then you can make fun of everything. Yeah we are.
We're just making fun of our industry.
So you gotta laugh at yourself first. I got to beat you to the punch, although we did.
We have spent most of the week torching dentists too, and we only.
Spent a couple of minutes yesterday on that. I know, there's they're still fallout from that. My friend who's a dentist, who has the sausage fingers, Yeah, all of a sudden I see him. He goes, uh, hey, sausage fingers.
I said, yeah, yeah, Are you trying to drop weight in his fingers?
No, No, he's he's he's a big guy, former football player.
You're gonna fill cabinties.
You don't have whoa easy there, Todd, I.
Didn't realize the.
Easy they're to. What are we doing here? Come on, let's be stupid. Let me take a break here. I think we just got started here. I'm not sure. Let's regroup here coming. Oh Shaquille o'neils making a big man. De Patrick, shut that up. He'll join us later on Our Good Buddy Ross Tucker will stop by.

Tucker, Our Good Buddy CBS Sports Westwood one Ross Tucker Football Podcast, and he'll be on the call Westwood one Commanders and the Eagles. When's the last time you remember the Washington football team being good and likable?
I think they were good and likable the RG three rookie year. Okay, you know, they basically brought a lot of the college concepts that RG three had done at Baylor to the NFL. It's a big reason, I think Dan why he was so successful that year, why they were so success is because defensive coordinators in the NFL hadn't seen a lot of the RPOs. They hadn't seen the zone read stuff, and so RG three took the league by storm. The city was fired up. I hadn't seen at the time, at least Redskin fans like that in a long long time. And then he gets hurt in the playoff game and it was just over. It was very fleeting. This, obviously, with Jayden Daniels, feels a lot more sustainable.
I like your Eagles a lot. I like them a lot more than I probably want to. But Jalen Hurts has played well. They don't rely on the pass. They it feels like they're a Saquon Barkley led offense here, And I don't want fools gold here Where I'm buying into it. It is am I seeing what I'm supposed to see with the Eagles. Are you seeing the same thing that they might be the second best team in the NFC?
Well, I think they are the second best team in the NFC. They're very, very good and here's how I look at it, Dan, They're going against the seven to three Commanders team tonight, and I went through it. There aren't many guys for the Commanders that would start for the Eagles. There just aren't. I mean, you look at it roster top to bottom. They've had the best defense in the NFL over the last five weeks, basically since the buye since they put Cooper de gene in at nickelback, the defense have been lights out. Now they haven't faced a murderer's row of offenses, but they still went to Cincinnati and beat the Bengals by twenty and they held Joe Burrow, who's been as good as any quarterback in the league this year, to seventeen points. And then think about this offensively, without any question. They have a top five wide receiver duo and maybe the best in the NFL without any question. They have a top five running back, maybe the best in the NFL. They have a top five offensive line, maybe the best in the NFL. I think they have a top five tight end and got her Hurts certainly since dubuy has played like a top five quarterback. So if you got the best defense for the last five weeks, your top five at worst at almost every offensive position. I mean, they are really really good.
Now.
Their schedule gets tougher. They got tonight, they'll play the Ravens. You know they're gonna be tested more coming up. But Dan, they've averaged that They've had almost one thousand more yards than their last five opponents. They're out gaining people by almost two hundred yards a game. I don't care who you're playing. You don't see that in the NFL.
Is the coach off the hot seat, Nick Sirianni or was he on the hot seat?
He was definitely on the hot seat in the court of public opinion and among the fans. I do not think he was on the hot seat with your organization. I just can't see them doing that. I think that worst case scenario for him, they would have let the whole season play out. If it was a bad year, then I wouldn't have been surprised if they moved on. It's not a bad year. It doesn't look like it's going to be a bad year. I think I saw where he's second among active NFL head coaches and career winning percentage. He's ninth all time all time, and I know, it's not like the biggest sample size, but it's three and a half years now, right, I mean, that's a decent sample size to have the ninth best winning percentage of all time. What's funny, Dan, it's twofold, right. Everything I just told you about the roster, and they probably do have the best roster top to bottom in the NFL. That doesn't mean they'll win it. They had the best roster two years ago in twenty twenty two, and they still lost the Super Bowl to the Chiefs. But because of that roster, and then because of some of the ways that Sirianni has carried himself and he's apologized for by the way, especially talking to the Eagles fans, a lot of people just they don't give him the credit when they win because the roster's so good, and if anything goes wrong at all, it's all the blame. They talk all that. What does he even do? He doesn't even call offensive plays anymore. But what is Dan Campbell doing Detroit? I mean, what does you know what a lot of these coaches do. So for whatever reason, a lot of fans don't like him. They blame him for the collapse last year. They feel like they don't like the way he conducted himself earlier in the year. However, with every passing win he's his approval rating is going up by like five points. Stand every week with all these wins.
Are the Chiefs board on offense?
I don't think so. When you watch them, though, It's just remarkable how they keep winning these games because this is as bad as Mahomes has played in a while. They're not very good on the offensive side of the ball right now. I mean, Hopkins has helped a little bit. Their crutch is still just throwing the ball to Kelsey, who's not quite what he was earlier in his career, but he's still reliable. I will say this, it's unbelievable how many third downs they convert. They don't have many many explosive plays, They're not putting a lot of points on the board, but they have an incredible ability. In my lifetime, I can't remember another situation where it's a critical third down, And I wish I did Chiefs games on TV because all I would say every third down is, uh, yeah, Jim, I'd like to predict a Mahomes throw to Travis Kelcey for a first down here because it's like.
Un Canada, you would do your you would do your Tony Romo.
Yeah, you'd be right like you'd be right like the time. If on third downs you just predicted Mahomes to Kelsey first.
Down, probably sound like this if you had, if you were going to play the role of Tony Romo with Jim Nance, I don't don't you what are you gonna do?
You know what's funny about this is why your show's so great, Dan. I thought you might go to PAULI to do to do his Ross Tucker interpretation and do that one. Or I thought it might be a fritzy that that seatan that that came out of nowhere would have been third in my rankings of who was going to do the impression.
Well, we've done Tony Romo's impersonation to Jim Nance on the show, because Seaton will come in sometimes and that's how he does. I don't know, Jim, throw it to Kelsey.
They can run it, they can pass it. Would you do here, Jim?
Or I could say, how would Ross Tucker do it?
I had a six meat platter last night, Casey a hot bit of barbecue.
No guy, I get it to Kelsey Kelsey here, then the flat and then if you were working with Kevin Harlan, it would probably sound something like this.
The single set back is Hilaire back to path Mahomes, It's got Travis Kelsey for another first down, and the Chiefs are on the move once again with under two minutes ago.
All I just learned in the last minute is we gotta get Marv to get some impressions. I mean, Marvin's got to do some impressions.
Marv, do you do any impressions?
No, I just do a bad Klay Thompson.
Oh yeah, he does Klay Thompson. But I don't know if there's a real call for Clay Thomas.
There isn't, no not in this instance.
No, Okay, so give gives no, it's.
Just Lebron Gus Phillis has some game.
Would you rather have Jalen Hurt's future or Jayden daniels future.
That's a good question. You're just talking about career, not contract or anything like that.
Career.
Okay, Well, so I think there's more upside for Jade Daniels. He's It's funny because I really thought last year Dan that c J. Stroud had the best rookie season for a quarterback I could remember, especially when you consider the Texan didn't have great receivers there O line like what he did last year I thought was better than what Andrew Luck did, and now Daniels is topping it. I mean their offensive lines average at best. They have Terry McLaurin. I think the upside for Jaden Daniels as a player is higher than Jalen Hurts. I think Jayden Daniels is a better pure pocket passer. However, Hurts has the advantage of being with a much better, more established organization. You know, that's a big part of it. You're seeing that with Kayleb Williams a little bit in Chicago. Like, let's put it this way, dan If Hurts was on the Commanders and Daniels was on the Eagles, it would be Daniels in a landslide. I think Daniels has higher upside to be a better player than Hurts. But it's still Washington, right. I know they have a new owner, I know things are looking promising, but it's half a season where we have the new owner doing positive things and good for the organization. I'm not ready to if it's a future we're talking about. I'm not ready to go all in really on any player with that franchise. I played for him twice. You can see the helmets I'm pointing to. I know what that organization is like, and hopefully they're kind of removing the stink from the previous owner. But I gotta go with I gotta go with the nest and the environment that Hurts has around him.
Ross Tucker CBS Sports Westwood One analyst. He'll be on the call tonight the Eagles and the Commanders. Check out the Ross Tucker Football podcast. Also, he has the Raiders and the Dolphins on Sunday on CBS. You know, you start to look at some of these games. You got the Ravens and the Steelers. That's it's always great no matter what the records are. The Bengals at the Chargers is sneaky great. Yeah, out of those two games, which matchup do you like better?
Well? So, Bengals Chargers. That's a huge game for both those teams. That's I can't That's a beautiful Sunday night game. But Ravens Steelers for a long time has been my favorite rivalry in the NFL. And it's funny Dan, I know you talked about gambling sometimes, but on the even Money betting podcast, I saw earlier this week where the Ravens were laying three and a half. I thought it was a joke. Dan, These teams have played five hundred times. It's come down to a field goal or less every single time. It's thirteen to ten every game. Maybe now it's like seventeen, sixteen, twenty seventeen. I love this rivalry because it's always competitive, always hard hitting, always fun take. It always comes down to a fieldal I'm taking the Ravens to win the game, but I'm loving the Steelers plus the three and a half. Love it.
Okay, the news that Aaron Rodgers is thinking about coming back next season means what?
Oh?
I think it's fun to just speculate on which team will be desperate enough to give that a shot, because I don't think it'll be the Jets.
Oh, Okay, I don't.
I don't think they're gonna now here's the other thing, Dan.
I don't really.
I would be sort of surprised, and I have no evidence on this, right, I'd be sort of surprised that Aaron Rodgers starts every game the rest of the year for the Jets, and I'd be very impressed if he does. I guess I just have a tough time picturing him playing out the string in these meaningless games in December.
I wouldn't be I can't see him on the sidelines. I can't what's that, I can't see him on the sidelines. I just there is no way, as ego is gonna be like, you know, I'm gonna hold a clipboard here.
No, what I think it is, dan is. I think there would be some type of injury because he gets hurt a lot, right, he gets banged up a lot. At some point there might come a time. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point there comes a time where there's an injury that they decide, you know what, let's let this thing heal not play the last three or four games. I might be wrong, and I hope I am. And I'll be thoroughly impressed if he sucks it up and plays all of these meaningless games in December. I'll have a lot of respect for Aaron if he does that.
Yeah, I didn't factor in if he would play someplace else. And you said if somebody's dests, like if I'm the Jets. I don't want him to come back because it impedes me getting a really good coach because there's no coach that wants to come in. And you got Aaron for one, like a gap year, like it just you don't want to want who.
Came to mine right away? Dan, And you will see the draft goes and I'm sure they want to draft Shador Sanders, but the other teams probably do as well, the Raiders. The Raiders because Antonio Peers obviously this year is not going well. If he gets his second year, it's like win or else. Brady's a part owner now. I think Brady probably feels like, hey, I could do it in my early forties, Aaron can do it in his early forties. And Mark Davis he just let Tom Brady get like a fifty percent discount on five percent equity. Like Mark Davis likes, he likes stars, he likes big name. I mean, who gives someone He basically handed Brady millions of dollars to be a very minor owner on the team. I think I could see the Raiders doing it this offseason.
You played for the Cowboys. Did the Sun ever bother you when you played for the Cowboys.
No.
You know what, though, when I play, I play the old what do they call it, Texas Stadium where it was like the hole was just where the field was, you know, in other words, like the fans were protected, but it was right over the field was the opening. The crazy thing about that is growing up outside of Philly and watching the Cowboys my whole life on TV. Texas Stadium always looked so awesome on TV. I'll never forget the first time I went there as a rookie. Down was like, this place is kind of a dump. I had no idea. I had no idea. It's amazing how sometimes on TV things can look a lot.
But do you think that's a home field advantage to have blinding sunlight?
Definitely not, and it certainly wasn't for Ceedee Lamb when he should have had a touchdown.
In the game.
And if it is a home field advantage, then Mike McCarthy didn't take advantage of it by calculating here's what I know. Okay, because he's been asked about a lot this week. Kellen Moore is the Eagles offensive coordinator. Kellen Moore played for the Cowboys for a while was a coach there for a while, including me and the coordinator. He said, it's something you have to take into account. He said, it's a factor. So I guess it is a home field advantage if the home team realizes that and takes advantage of it and the away team doesn't. Evidently Kellen Moore, now on the away team, was more aware of it than Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys on the home team.
Crazy crazy, have fun tonight.
I will can't wait. It's gonna be awesome.
And then you got the Raiders and the Dolphins Sunday on CBS. So man, look at you, busy, proud of you.
Thank you man. I appreciate that. Me and Iron Eagle tonight. Does anybody have an Iron Eagle impression? I'll listen when I hang out.
Let me see Todd. Do you have an iron Eagle?
I don't think so.
Now, yeah, we.
Got to get an eye eagle impression. He's amazing.
Well, we'll work on it. We'll work on Thank you.
Ross.
That's Ross Tucker. Rossington Tucker is Football podcast and he'll be on the call tonight west Wood One, the Commanders and the Eagles.

This stuff, I'm still a Cowboys fan.
I have faith faith in this season.
Well, you know what, So how many games I got left?
Seven?
All right? So we went all seven? We got a chance for the playoffs.
Yeah, but you don't have dag, but we'll be fine.
So, yes, I still have faith. We're gonna win seven in a row. We're gonna make the playoffs, and we're gonna surprise some people.
Can you tell the story of when you spend a million dollars in thirty minutes. Can you tell my audience that story?
So I received the maion dollars from a car deal and I always wanted a black on black Mercedes Benz. So I got the check and I look at the check. Well, actually I didn't even look at the check. I just took it to the bank, signed the papers like I didn't even know that the check said six fifty dollars. But we'll get back there. So I go straight to the dealership. I haven't on the negotiating skills. It's like, how much is this? Bence deal was like one hundred and fifty thousands, So in my mind one minue minus one fifty, I'm still rich. I still got eight hundred that was left. So I get this bench and I go home. I'm showing off to my dad and my dad was like, man, I wish I had one of these, and I was like, you know what, come on? So we jumped and I get the same exact bed. So now eight fifty minus one fifty. Man, I got what one hundred thousand left? Right, I'm rich. So we come back and then my mom she says the same thing. So we get out of the little bit it's one hundred thousands. So now I got six hundred thousand left. So now after I take care that, now I got to go get the jewelry and the rings. I buy about twenty draft suits. I read this high rise apartment on San Antonio for a year. I don't even know why I did it for a year. I wasn't under saying that, but this is like seventy thousand a month. I just paid it all the front. And then a couple of days later, the bank mind You called me and he pulled me in and he said, mister Odell, I don't want you to be like all these athletes when we get money and they go broke. And I was like yeah. So he showed me the bank statements. Time I saw Fika, and it just made me go back to the story because you know how there's some bores stories out there of agents they steal money, and accounts steal money. But Fika had took so much money, and I looked at the bank and I was like, who the hell is fighting. He's like, mister, you need to educate yourself. And after that, I was like, you know what I need to I need to slow down. But that's the true story.
What's the smallest car you've ever owned?
The smallest car owned. I had to buy two Ferraris. One was wrecked, one was salvage. I had to buy a brand new one. I cut the brand and one and have took a piece together and made a Ferrari to be out there online.
That's when you got too much money, when you buying two Ferraris and you're you're cutting them in a half shack.
Yeah, you know, no. I think I think people understand what made me a really good basketball player is I tried to I tried to imagine myself as little. So when Magic Johnson came on the scene at six ' nine, I would already six nine sixteen. I even say to myself, well, I had Magic can be a guard. I could be a guard. So I used to always do things that the little guys did.
But if you were twenty years of age right.
Now, Oh, I had this conversation the other day, I would I would train my butt off, train my butt off, because the motivation is really having I would train my butt off and I would be sitting and be watching all the great players. I would love to have a little bit of Steph Curry in my game. I would love to have a little bit of Luca in my game. And I would love to have a little bit Shock in my game. And then the target is Luca's new contract. What I mean by that, Luca will probably be making eighty ninety million leves. So now if I can beat that good, I could probably get sixty seventy. If I'm half as good as Luca, I get forty. If I'm half as good as that, I get twenties. But you know that would be my goal right now, like because you know Luca's probably gonna be But I said make it eighty two one hundred million dollars. I was nineteen twenty years old right now. That exactly what I'd be thinking, and I was still everybody's moves all the James Harden step back to when Vignanda Baja, I will steal everything.
What if we took away the three point line? Who would be the best team in the NBA if we took.
Away everyone line? That's a good question. I'm not sure, man, you you just gave me a brain fight right now. I can't I can't even imagine the team that you drees.
I would love to see the NBA take away the three for a week and just see how teams play, because it's I mean, you've talked about it like Steph is so good that everybody wants to be Steph. But nobody can be sticky and the basketball is not good right now, and I don't know how to fix it.
I know how to fix it bringing back some creativity to the game. You know the reason why podcasts are are successful. Everybody has a different podcast. You see what I'm saying, Like your show is different from somebody else's show, different from Steve and a different from our show. That's why we're all successful. If you look at the NBA, every team is running the same play. Every team switches one through five. Every team is running a dribble handoff. Back in our day, you had plays you have to I saw. I don't understand why coaches don't look at their strengths. They say, Okay, this is the type of offense we go on. It's a copycat lead. But you have to have the personnelity to be able to shoot fifty theories. I saw it the other day. I actually got to save to my home Portland went four for forty two from the three. If I was a fan, I would now want to watch that. So my point is, if you're going to shoot nine percent or whatever it is, why not what you even shoot threes? Like, you're definitely not gonna win, And like, as an owner, I'm trying to win. I don't want to pay guys thirty forty million dollars and we don't have a chance to win. So until they bring some creativity back in the game, this, uh, this thing we know is the NBA, the viewership is going to continue to decline.
Why does the Joe Ellenbach situation bother you so much?
Because he has so much potential and I love all the big man As you can see from shooting over threes, the big man is you know, starting to slide away and enter into their atmosphere. But you got Victor Wimmen out of seventy five shooting threes. I'm not saying don't shoot the three, but that shouldn't be. That shouldn't be the majority of your game, majority of the beginnings. Tribute to dominate, get your teammates open, and then when defenses start panicking it and you know you can't really get a lot of room inside, then step out to open and back up. So I just see a lot of you know, potential in it, and hopefully he gets upset with what I'm saying, and you know, he turns it up. But we as fans know what we see. We can look in the eye of a person and sees if they want it. And something's going on with him. I don't know if he's hurt, if he's injured, but he didn't look like he wants to be it. When I look at Joker. When I look at Joker and how he plays, and this is why he's the best big man in the league.
Shuck, he's playing the best of his career. I mean that's saying a lot.
The Joker is bawling nothing but respect Van. I don't know if he got mad at me last year, but when Miran said that, I think Shay deserves the MVP. But I actually hope he is mad because I love the way he's playing, Like he shoots the three and on it, but he mixes it up and you know, he plays in the way that you know when he starts scoring and doing all that stuff, they start doubling and then he get Jamal Murray, my guy Russell Westbrook is starting to pick it up, playing very well. I really liked how I didn't was playing.
How would you have guarded you in your prime? You can't, But you couldn't have guarded you.
No, you can't, you really can't. And so the only time I was slow down when they initiated that new defense. And you have to double on the triple team. But like when when i'm because one of them, always get to my spot and if that jump hook is gone, I'm gonna get going. And then if you try to use your strength, that's when I went to my tai chi and did a little you Like a lot of guys try to use strength, but when they initiated their strength, I will release my strength and just and just roll off. And that's how I was able to always get to my spot.
Was there a shorter guy, smaller guy who gave you?
Yeah? Oakley uh freaking uh okally uh a horn Bonner Mason Barkley at times like because they because they can get in your back and if you hit in the back, it would help you unrelease that core. Because like when I when I get to the post, I tightened up it into the corps. But they were hitching your back and you have to go like that. And you know they was always able to move me.
But did they hurt you when there was hack a shack?
I didn't. It didn't hurt no, because I, uh I was always a football player. The reason why my Dallas Cowboys lay because when I was growing up, I used to tell people that add two tall Jones was my uncle and frank O Harris was my umle. So I uh I liked I liked the initiating pain, and I like to see them pink.
Wait, so you would boy people and say ed too told Jones unrelated to him and related to Franco. Yes, but why why Franco?
Because my father's last name was Harris. So yeah, like your dad's last name is Harrison's that same thing, same thing.
What's the coolest thing in your office?
In my office, all my Emmy's, well not Miami's, all Ermie's emmys. I think we got like eight of nine of them.
Is that a ball behind you.
You see? No, I can't turn my head all the chairman. Oh yeah, that was uh yeah, Amy's up there. And I got a championship, championship trophies and MVP trophies.
There's a basketball right over your left shoulder, isn't there. Oh it's a helmet.
Yeah, it's a helmet.
What's the helmet from.
H old you Man, Redbox.
There's no way that helmet fits. That helmet if you put it on, ain't coming off. Maybe you could buy the Cowboys one day.
No, I'm not that rich.
Oh, well you're getting there, I think I am. Are you a billionaire?
No, I don't know. I never checked.
I would check with Fika.
The little kid asked me the other day how does it to be rich? And I asked you. My definition of riches being able to buy my mother whatever she wants. My favorite person in the world, and I always see flashbacks of our life. The other day I was in a Walmart foot in the promo and I saw a lady with a tall kid and three little girls. Now I'm following a lady and that's a lady shopping. She's getting stuff with the little babies right, and big guys just being a protector whatever. So I go over. I said, how much is spending? She said, well, all I got. I was like, here's five thousand, give what you want. But my point is my mother is on a favorite person. I've seen this women sacrifice so much. My mom, I'm sure with a lot of people's moms. You used to have used to have to wear the same pants Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and just switch up the shirts. So when I was becoming successful, I always wanted to make sure she had whatever she wanted. Like my parents did get their own house until I got drafted, and I always want to ensure that they would keep that forever. So that's why I've always paid attention when I come to the finance and all that stuff. But I don't really check on what I got or what I have as long as my mother doesn't have to feel like she felt when when we were young. That's my definition of being rich.
