So the Lions are now ten and one, the Chiefs are ten and one. They have gone about those records in different fashions. As Patrick Mahomes said after the game, it'd be nice to win without having to win on the final play of a game. Give credit to the Panthers. Bryce Young, I thought handled himself admirably. The Lions. They continue to separate themselves in the NFC for blowing out people. But don't look too far ahead if you're the lines, because the Eagles are right behind you. The Eagles rolled over the Rams last night. Saquon Barkley had a wonderful game, and I was wondering about that. It's a quarterback driven league. MVP is a quarterback driven award. You have to go back a long time to Adrian Peterson went a running back won the MVP. So I thought, okay, after that performance by Saquon Barkley standalone game Sunday night.
And what are his odds to win the MVP.
If you said Josh Allen has better odds, you'd be correct. Lamar Jackson has better odds, you'd be correct. The third best odds are Saquon Barkley. So Josh Allen, I said it last week, it's his to lose plus one fifty, Lamar Jackson plus two seventy five, Saquon Barkley plus five hundred. Then it's Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes. Saquon Barkley is I would say invaluable, but he is valuable to what we're seeing with the Eagles. I just don't know if you can define it. We know what a quarterback, an MVP quarterback looks like and plays like. We forget what an MVP running back runs like. Or plays like, and Saquon Barkley should be second on this list, in front of Lamar Jackson. I think the Eagles are a better team than the Ravens. I think Saquon Barkley has been a difference maker. They don't have to rely on Jalen Hurtz, who can be sporadic, he can throw twenty times. But you have Saquon Barkley. Now, he's got a great offensive line. That I mean, that's a really good team. And I think what's happening is we get caught up in looking at the Lions. We love the story of the Lions. We've already seen the Eagles in a Super Bowl. Don't forget about what the Eagles are doing. They are a really good team. I don't know, if there's a great team, Lions would probably be on the cusp of that. I don't know if we have great teams, but we have some pretty good ones. And don't forget about the Eagles. So Saquon Barkley had a wonderful night and it's one of those where here we go, let's troll the Giants. Hey, Saquon Barkley, you couldn't use him, huh. Saquon would not be Saquon with the Giants this year. They're a bad team, might be the worst team in the NFL. We've said it many, many times. They made the mistake of doubling down on Daniel Jones, who's now free to Rome. He ain't go anywhere he wants, and I know there was immediate speculation, well what if he went to the Cowboys and then had a couple of days to get ready for the Giants on Thanksgiving? And I go, I like it for content purposes, but I would think Jerry Jones would want to stay with Cooper Rush like him. Are you bringing in Daniel Jones just for one game? Because I would stay with Cooper Rush here. But you know, Cooper Rush played well yesterday. I mean it was a wild game, crazy game, special teams nightmare for the Commanders. And do not do this, especially James in Virginia. Don't start being bummed out here. If I would have told you this is where the Commanders would be when the season started, you would have signed up for it. Even with three losses in a row, they have played well, They have played competitively, and yes, was that a nightmare finish?
It was and they should have won that game.
I mean, that's one of those games that we might look back on and say that cost them a playoff spot.
Yes, Marvin, yeah, the front row.
We're throwing a flag on that.

If you start out seventy two and you don't make the playoffs, it'd be different if they're going back and forth and they're all right, they win here, they lose here, they win here, they lose here. But if you start out seventy two and you lose three straight and you ended up missing the playoff game, excuse me, missing the playoffs by half a game or a game, You're going to be really disappointed.
You'll be disappointed, I'm saying, don't be disappointed because your team is relevant.
You found your quarterback.
Your quarterback is banged up, Daniel Sneyder is a distant memory, got great uniforms.
You got a young team. Dan Quinn's done a really nice job. Yes. Should you beat in the Cowboys?
Yes, that to me was an embarrassing loss from the standpoint of.

They didn't play yesterday. Yeah, I mean they technically played. Yeah, they didn't play well.

I'm really not concerned right now about how man guys who missed today. We don't play good enough, so that's not a factor. But when you are missing some guys, you do have to be better. And when you have those penalties, and when we didn't stop the run like we did and then have those three turnovers in the second half, that's how you embarrassed.
Green Bay's defense. They were ready for Christian McCaffrey. I know you don't have Trent Williams there. And although Jordan Love he was trying to give it back a couple of there. In fact, Tom Brady even said it, I mean, he's putting it out there for you to go get it. And San Francisco wasn't able to really do anything. Josh Jacobs, you know, we talk about running backs, you know, the running back market. We devalued the running back market. And after Saquon Barkley over three hundred doll purpose yards last night, Josh Jacobs over one hundred yards three touchdowns. Derrick Henry has almost twelve hundred yards in eleven games. I don't know if we rethink that position, but All three of these guys were free agents where their team said we're not going to pony up that money. And you have certain teams, these are playoff caliber teams that still know you need to have a dangerous or at least a respected running back, if not two of those running backs, they have proven that. And you know, even go back to Kansas City when they had Isaiah Pacheco.
I mean, nobody runs harder than that. Dude.
That's a seventh round pick. I don't know if they're going to pay him when his contract is up, but you needed to have that running back to be able to get tough yards or at least give you the impression that play action is real. And you're seeing that now with Saquon Barkley. He's helping Jalen Hurts, Josh Jacobs has been great, and then you throw in Derrick Henry as well. But the game coming up tonight, the Chargers getting two and a half against the Ravens, we'll take a break, phone calls coming up. You've played in a lot of games, You've watched a lot of games, you broadcast a lot of games.
Where would you.
Put yesterday's game between the Cowboys Commanders on that list?
Well, I think it's safe to say it's right at or near the top, and especially I think it was really just the contrasts of that fourth quarter forty one points, how those forty one points were scored, or just it was absolute chaos. But it really came after a pretty pedestrian two and a half three quarters, like nobody really could get anything going. It was red zone field goals that were.
A circus to begin with.
We couldn't make field goals, couldn't make extra points leading up to that, and then the fourth quarter just got insane special teams plays both good and bad, eighty six yard and essence hail Mary type plays in desperation mode that go for touchdowns.
It was just I can't say.
I've ever seen a sequence of events that culminated with an ending like that, all in one quarter, all down the stretch, maybe ever, at least in a game that I can remember.
And you bring up a great point, sometimes we go, boy, that was a great game. It wasn't a great game, but it was a great finish. It was a great final quarter. When you guys get together with the commanders during the week and you sit down with Jaden Daniels, how much are you allowed to ask about how healthy he is with those ribs, because it certainly looked like their game plan was different with those ribs, that they weren't going to put him out there running.
Yeah, I think yesterday was probably the most the healthiest he's been, and it was probably the most that they had been willing to activate him as a design runner that we've seen at least through the last couple weeks. So when you go back to the Philly game, in the Pittsburgh game before that, their previous two losses, they weren't using him as a runner at all. So I think yesterday he had the nice touchdown run in the third quarter that was a really nice design, really nice play there off the left side, had a few other nice ones. He ran a speed option in the first half for a big pickup for a first down, couple scrambles, so I think I think yesterday was the healthiest he's.
Been in a long time.
It seemed like they kind of ran the entire offense through him, as they were earlier in the season. It's really just their inability to get the ball down field. That's the big problem that they're having. And the irony is it kind of at the end of the game, in desperation mode when they needed to, you know, a two minute score and a two point conversion down eleven, they got it throwing the ball downfield, attacking and then of course to Terry McLaurin eighty six yard touchdown in desperation mode. Was another one, so they opened it up there at the end of the game, and I just think they need to do it more.
How do you explain what Dallas did, Matt And I don't know if this is more on the Commanders or you give credit to the Cowboys.
I think it's probably as like anything. I think it's a combination of both. But I give Mike McCarthy and that Cowboys group a lot of credit. I mean, they were reeling and then they come into that game yesterday and they're excited to get Deron Bland back. They're all pro corner. He had missed the entire season with a foot injury. They get him back, they get Parsons back, but then they lose Digs, Trevon Diggs, he was out due to injury. But it was really the offensive side of the ball that we knew going in was just really down a lot of guys. They had Ceedee Lamb and then it was a lot of backups. You know, they're missing Tyler Smith, missing Zach Martin rotating at left tackle. They thought Brandon Cooks was going to come back. He ended up being out another week, and of course Cooper Rush taking over for dak So they showed a lot of life. They made plays where they had to schoonmaker again, the backup tight end to Jake Ferguson. He makes the big touchdown there in the end. So it was really a good effort. But it was special teams, it was defense, and it was offense, and it was really more the recipe that we're used to seeing from this Dallas team that's had a lot of success. Take the ball away, make splash special teams plays, and then obviously get the offense going. So that's what they did yesterday, and I think they deserve a lot of credit.
I'm looking at the DraftKings odds this morning for MVPG, it's Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Saquon Barkley. What does Saquon Barkley have to do? Can he be the MVP this year? I mean, let's be honest.
Can he be? And how can he be the mvpig.
Well, I think obviously the first thing is just continue to perform at the level that he's been playing at. And now whether or not that's feasible or not, whether that's realistic to play at this level as a running back down the stretch through the playoffs, it's hard to say. I mean, he's playing at such a what he had three hundred dollar purpose last night or a little over like, it's just what he's been able to do.
That is the perfect offense for Saquon Barkley.
And I think all this nonsense about oh if he would be doing it if he was with the Giants, and that's not a knockout Squon. It's just the situation that he walked into the offensive line, the weapons, the style of system, spread everybody out, a mobile quarterback you have to account for with Jalen like, it is the perfect offense for a player like Saquon Barkley to unleash everything that he's good at run and pass to win the MVP. He's probably gonna need some help. He's gonna probably need these quarterbacks Lamar and Josh Allen and probably goff to a degree to like come down to earth a little bit. If if Josh Allen continues to play at the level he has, and he continues to get Marquee wins against you know, the Chiefs again, and he gets the against Lamar at some point, like, if he continues to win those games, it's a quarterback Award and we can argue whether that's fair or unfair, but there's no question Saquon Barkley is as good as anybody in the entire league, regardless of position.
Just unfortunate for him he doesn't play quarterback.

When I played, I couldn't tell you if we were favored underdogs what the over under is. I've actually learned more about it in the broadcasting world, just because you hear it more. And there is an element to these guys who do make these spreads and do make these It's amazing how close they always are. Like they the way they look at the game from points, yards per play and efficiency numbers.
They kind of look at it as.
More of like a math equation than they do, just like x's and o's on the field. But yeah, I think if you pulled ninety nine plus percent of the players in the league, they couldn't tell you. But obviously we know with fans and you know, the way it's obviously become just the fabric of everything on Sundays. I think it's part of the popularity of the game. I think people are interested now in games. They might not be fair of those teams, but obviously they have vested interest in the outcome or at least the score. So I think it's changed the way people watch the game. I think it's brought a lot interest nationally as opposed to just following your regional team. And but yeah, I don't think it's something that players are aware of really to any degree.
Yeah see, I don't know if you can have day to day life in the NFL and not be aware of what's my over under four yards in this game, or I mean it's.
There, it's all over social media.
I just I don't know how you could go into a game now in today's environment and that everybody is allowed to talk about it. Everybody's encouraged to gamble and not know, Hey, you know what, we're favored by two and a half tonight.
Yes, there, maybe they are nowadays. You know, when I was playing, obviously was a very different landscape like fantasy football was what we were all aware of. You know, you'd be in the grocery store and you know the lady behind you in the line. You know, I'm playing in Chicago, and the old lady in line. You think she's gonna tell you great game because you you know, you just beat the Packers or the Lions or whatever. And she's like, you cost me my fantasy because you only caught two balls. And I'm like, oh my god, Like that's not what I was expecting you to say. So, like that was the era like I played in, and then daily fantasy became a thing and it's kind of and it's kind of evolved from there. But yeah, I mean I remember those days early in my career trying to figure out like are we.
Happy that I won but I didn't have enough catches?
And then on the flip side, you had a big game, but then the team you're on lost.
Were you happy? It was a that was a rude awakening.
When I first got in the league, fantasy football was probably at its highest level.
Do the Lions have any issues?
Yeah, I mean, listen right now, the last couple of weeks, it's hard to say they do. I mean the way that and I think the thing that everyone always thought was going to be there, all right, can you survive the injuries? Can you survive hu going down and now angzelone gets hurt? Like and this defense, what is say they haven't given up a touchdown in six quarters or seven something like that.
It's pretty remarkable.
Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator, he has done a fantastic job. Wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the next defensive minded guys that gets a head job.
He's done a.
Great job because so much of the attention of Detroit has been on of course the Jared Goff story, which he deserves all the credit in the world for how he's handled that. And then Ben Johnson, he's the bell of the ball. He's been the number one choice of a lot of teams. They just can't seem to snag him away from Dan Campbell in Detroit. So the offense gets a lot of the attention, understandably so, but I think Aaron Glenn in that defense and their ability to weather the injury to their best player and one of the best defensive players in the league and Hutchinson is is is pretty remarkable.
And now the question is they got to sustain it.
And as we all know in the NFL, especially, you get to the playoffs, one bad afternoon, couple bad breaks, and all of that good work, it's over. There's no best of three, best of five. So they've got to maintain this for six more games, six more weeks or so, and then keep it rolling through the playoffs.
So it's a long road ahead. A lot could happen.
But if the league ended, if the season ended now, I don't think there's any question they're the best team.
Who's the best tight end of all time?
Man, that's a great question.
If you would have told my younger self that anyone was ever gonna beat Tony Gonzalez. That was like the guy we all grew up watching in high school and college and had a chance to overlap with him for a few years in the league and get to know him. Tony was always at the top of the mountain. The longevity, the consistency, and then of course just the sheer volume of yards and catches and touchdowns just seems so incomprehensible that anyone would ever approach it. Then Gronk came along, and he did it again. Different could do the run blocking physical one of the most prolific guys. Obviously, him and Brady kind of rechanged how people. He didn't have quite the longevity to approach those numbers, and I enter guy like Kelsey. I think we've gotten to the point where Kelsey's in that argument of saying he has he passed Tony and he might not ever reach the final numbers.
I don't know how long.
He's gonna play, but when you start talking seven about seven years in a row of a thousand yard seasons, then you factor in the postseason success that he's had and the amount of wear and tear and games and catches and yards in the postseason. That's kind of where him and Gronk have kind of separated from a lot of the other guys at.
The top of the list.
So it is hard for me to put anyone above Tony because that was the guy like I really looked up to and idolized through my career as a young player. But I think Kelsey and Gronk have kind of entered that, and I think Kelsey might be pulling away.

Chaos is the first word that comes to mind, but I think if you start to think about especially the Alabama at Oklahoma game, it was really what Oklahoma fans had left.
They had a.
Prominent brand like Alabama coming to town. It was part of this new revelation of the SEC and they rose to the occasion, and the team rose to the occasion because it's all really they had left to play for.
And that happened.
Then you saw Auburn, who's been losing all these one score games. They get it done in front of another raucous home crowd. So those things happen. It's just part of this fabric, fabric of the game. Two things are true about college football, Dan, people love brands, and people don't want to lose late. Late losses are way more damaging than early losses, and that's what we're seeing.
Okay, give me the teams that are out out, they will not make the playoffs.
Goodness, I don't know that there are many that we can say that about given what I just said. In terms of these games that are in. So I still think Clemson, Alabama, Ole, Miss, Texas A, and M South Carolina.
Are all still are all still alive.
So okay, there has to be somebody who's out through all of the TCU.
TCU is out three in the Big Twelve, they're mathematically eliminated.
Yes, all right? Is Indiana still in the in the hunt?
Here?
I think by virtue of those three losses in the SEC, I think Indiana is going to be in. I think they're eleven and one record, assuming they beat Perdue, who's lost ten in a row or yeah, ten in a row.
I think they're in.
I think they'll they'll get a pass and they might be the eleven seed, but they'll get in.
Okay, Ole Miss is in according to you? Or still in? No?
Ole Miss is out?
Oh we found an outer Okay, but still with hope, but still with hope.
See, they and Alabama are sitting there watching Georgia, watching Tennessee hoping for a Purdue miracle, watching Miami at Syracuse. They're watching games like that saying, hey, let's have a little bit more chaos this weekend. Colorado still in Colorado is right now, if the four teams tied for the lead, all win and it would be Arizona State and Utah State, Colorado would be out. So they need a Kansas State win over Iowa State something like that.
Have we now?
I was a big proponent for expanding because I said, you're going to get more teams involved in this and games later in the season, We're going to be more important. But how tough is the committee's job now? Because when you had four, it felt like maybe there was one school, maybe two that should have been in. Now when you have twelve, it feels like there's going to be five six teams that are going to have a legitimate beef here.
Oh well, I think that's accurate, and that makes it even that much more exciting to wake up on that Sunday and see exactly what the committee's going through. Heck, if the supercomputers take till Tuesday to figure out who's actually in a Big Ten championship game, I mean you could imagine what the machinations are in that committee room.
So yeah, this is this is wild. I think what's interesting.
You know, Georgia, by virtue of all the chaos, is now assured of playing in the SEC championship game. I will guarantee you that if Kirby came on here and we made him take a truth a lie detector test, he would say, you'd rather not play in that game. And I think we will eventually evolve to what the basketball tournament does in Dayton. There will be playing games to have some of these teams that are sitting right there on the edge get a chance to play their way in and let the teams who have punched their ticket actually rest. I mean, we don't worry about conference tournaments. We do it for the money grab in basketball, but no one cares who wins them. Once you've already you know, made it to the dance, and I think college football will end up feeling very, very similar.

You were at Yankee Stadium with Army in Notre Dame. Yes, you know, aside.
From Northern Illinois, Notre Dame is a a really really solid team.
I don't that was a very impressive performance. It was men amongst boys, and that's not too slight. What's been a terrific season for Jeff Monkin and the Black Knights. They just were bigger and better and had that triple option dialed. I mean the fact that they had played Navy, play Navy every year. They have a plan for that, and there was nothing for Bryce and Day and the Black Knights to do. Army has played beautifully. Now Jade and Mayava becomes the giant killer, and everybody in college football in a conference is pulling for the former UNLB quarterback to see if he can get the trifecta because he's already won two. He beat Nebraska and he beat UCLA. So can he now knock off Notre Dame in Los Angeles? Because if he does, there'll be some lovely parting gifts for he and the Trojans, because they'll have knocked out not only Notre Dame, but have given somebody access to the playoffs.
So Notre Dame, it's win and you're in against you.
I think so.
I think if they lost their second game here to usc who despite their name, is still only a six and five team, and you couple that with a Northern Illinois loss, somebody with a three even three loss team. You know, take the winner of Clemson in South Carolina. You could make a case that that team could get in, especially if Clemson gets were that winner with just two losses.
What's it like for the coach when fans storm the field after you lost the game.
Oh, usually you're surrounded by these you know, police officers that are just trying to get you in there. But yeah, I mean there's part of me when that happens is you're kind of like, this is just still the coolest game in the world. I mean, I'm upset that I lost, but it's still the cool And people run by and say things, but they're they're moving fast. It's not a big deal.
You never took it personal when they say you suck Rick or you know.
I get that so often Dad that it never you get that at home?
