Dan could hear the pain in Aaron Judge’s voice after performing so poorly during this World Series and dropping that routine fly ball that started the Dodgers’ rally in the fifth inning. And former NFL HC Rex Ryan joins the show to mix in a little football talk as NFL Week 9 kicks off tonight.
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.
It's the final hour in this Thursday Dan and Danettes, Dan Patrick Show Down to Danette. Holly may be back with us tomorrow. We'll get some more phone calls coming up. Rex Ryan, former Jets head coach Bill join us. Why are the Jets favored by one and a half against the Texans tonight? Congratulations to the Dodgers. We've been playing the jubulation with the Dodgers call on that final out. Here is the final call for the Yankees Radio network.
Well, there's the one two to Verdugo, breaking ball, cut out him as strike three, ball game over, World Series over, Dodgers win. Los Angeles is the new champion, and they're going nuts on the field. And I'll blame them when you see them jump around like this, boy, there's reason for it.
They deserve it.
John Sterling with the call as the Yankees' final out, they strike big ten Saturday Night, Wisconsin, Iowa, Saturday on NBC in Peacock, here comes Saturday Night presented by Discover.
Good Morning.
If you're watching on Peacock, our streaming partner, or listening on our great radio affiliates around the country. While I was watching baseball it was five to nothing. I was flipping over to watch the Cavaliers and the Lakers because I thought this was going to be the night that Bronni would hit a mid range jumper and he would finally be in the record books.
And he did.
It was late in the game, they're getting blown out, so Bronni and Lebron combined for twenty eight points and the Lakers lost. They lost by twenty four to the Cavaliers. So Lebron and his son are the most prolific father son dual in NBA history. They have combined for forty eighty two points. Second on the list is Joe and Kobe Bryant at thirty eight eight ninety five.
Statup to Day, Statup Today Status Day Day startupy day, startup.
Day, startup Day, Startup to day.
Start st Out of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. So that's Lebron with forty thousand, five and eighty points and then Bronni with the two points.
There I think it was Stacy King.
Michael Jordan had sixty nine points in a game and Stacey King had two, and then he told people after the game that he and Michael combined for seventy one points.
Yes, Marvin, that's like Michael Jordan and Bill Wennington. Also they combined for fifty seven at the Garden. Yeah, Michael's double nickel game.
Mike, Mike had fifty five there, all right. Poll question for the final hour of the program is going to be watcheed o Connor.
Yeah, we got two of them up there right now. I threw up there.
The best Halloween candy is gummy or chocolate. I happen to be a gummy candy type person. There are some real hardcore chocolates out there, you do what.
I've never been disappointed with a kid Kat bar fair, Yeah, the Snickers always uh Reese's.
Yeah, all of the above, Yeah great, Yeah, can't go wrong. Three Musketeers, Yeah sure, not much.
Yeah, yeah, I'm into it. Yeah yeah, right now, chocolate has about eighty percent.
Yeah yeah, yeah.
I thought gummy would have a better showing there.
Yeah.
Who feels worse today?
Aaron Judge, Garrett Cole, Anthony Volpi or the Los Angeles Angels.
Right now, Aaron Judge is running away with that one. I don't know if that's fair.
Well, you could hear it in his voice, so we know that he sounds despondent. He's really done. He said this is going to be with him the rest of his life.
I mean maybe because he didn't have a great couple of games leading up to that either, hitting wise, Yeah, so maybe it's like the totality of his World Series, yes, wasn't great, but he had turned to that corner.
It felt like at least hitting.
Wise, well, he didn't have a he hasn't had historically had good postseasons, and I think that this, you know, kind of building up, building up, building up, and just like Clayton Kershaw, You're a Hall of Fame pitcher, but you had these bad moments in the postseason until he didn't and then you win and then all of a sudden that kind of wipes everything away. It's the same thing with Aaron Judge. You know, they've struggled to get, you know, to be playoff relevant, certainly World Series relevant. It's been a long time, and you know, Yankee fans aren't used to this.
It's a long time, and.
I think he's he's the poster child. He's supposed to be the leader. He's supposed to be your Mickey Mantle, he's supposed to be Joe Dimagio. He's supposed to be you know, Babe Ruth or Lou Garritt. You're there, clutch guy. We can always count on you, until you couldn't. And then you had the flyball mishap as well. The Cleveland Cavaliers, by the way, five and zero for the first time since he's sixteen. And I did watch some of the Knicks, by the way, yeah, I did watch the next Karl Anthony Towons going to Towns on the opposition. There all five Nick starters scored in double figures. That hasn't happened in consecutive games since two thousand and nine. The two thousand and nine Knicks lineup Al Harrington, David Lee, Larry Hughes, Nate Robinson, Wilson Chandler. Yikes, okay, but yeah, I was watching a little bit of Ronnie and Lebron. They were getting blown out, and then I thought, Okay, now you can put him in, and nobody's going to have a problem. If it was a close game, he's not playing, and then he's going down to the G League. So he got his bucket and that's good. And then let him go down there and play some basketball for a little while. All right, Fresh in Milwaukee is back, Hi, Fresh, what's on your mind today?
Yo?
What's up?
This is Flash in Milwaukee with the wingspan of Tony Cox, the little person. I got to give out some shout outs, add some loove to Magic Johnson. Is this the greatest winner in the history of sports? I mean, this man is won at every level, high school, college, pro. Now he just went in at as an executive. Do you have any great stories of Magic Johnson or have you met them? DP A shout out to the crew as well.
All right, thank you Fresh.
Yeah.
I've had conversations with Magic throughout the years when he was playing, when he retired. I hosted the Magic press conference when he had to retire. I was at Sports Center and we got word that Magic had tested positive and for HIV. And I remember it was in like early afternoon and I had my suit and tie on. I'd arrived at Sports Center and there go. You got to get down on the Sports Center set. We just had a phone call. Magic is going to announce his retirement from the NBA, and he's got HIV. So I take whatever research I have, and we had great researchers there just in case if I needed to fill time and you throw it out or they're not ready. And so it was one of those that was just happening, you know, so fast, right in front of me. I didn't even have time to think that Magic was going to retire from basketball, and you throw it out, you know, reporters on site getting all the information and coming back and then I have to do Sports Center that night, and You're going to try to be able to compose you know what this means, because at the time, nobody knew what it meant. And then you had players who you know, famously didn't want to play against Magic.
They were worried about catching the virus.
Magic with the All Star Game, but yeah, I would see him if it was the Lakers in Los Angeles. Had conversations with him on the show, but nothing where we were friendly to each other. Sean and Oregon. Hi, Sean, what's on your mind today?
Well, it's his Dodgers Yankees, and this one's gonna hurt for a while. This is going to hurt the Yankees. I'm curious to see what they do in the off season, because what I saw there in the fifth inning looked like those guys put on their Halloween costumes and put on a clown show for America. There was nobody in America thought those guys were going to come back and win that game. And it had to rip the hearts out of those Yankees fans, brother, and that was just something great to see. It's a Dodgers fans, something great for America to see against that evil empire. The only better thing I ever seen was Game seven when Arizona beat those guys.
All right, Sean, congratulations fair, Yeah.
It's fair, it's fair.
It is.
It's interesting to hear the cross section of America. You know, the people who call in and you know you're either rooting for the Dodgers or rooting against the Yankees or vice versa. And then you have people who really don't have any stake in this, and that's do you want to see the Dodgers? Do you want to see the Yankees? What have there been one and twenty World series? Does that sound about right? And I think one out of every twelve World Series has had either the Dodgers or the Yankees in it. Something crazy like that also Seaton said.
Had been in what like forty of them or something. Yeah.
Yeah, you mentioned that there has been a guy named Will Smith on the last five World Series Champions.
Did you saw that on social media?
Yeah?
Yeah, yeah, people are posted that about the social media. If you go back to twenty twenty, Will Smith was on the Dodgers, then twenty twenty one, Will Smith on the Braves, Will Smith in twenty twenty two on the Astros, twenty twenty three Will Smith on the Rangers, and at twenty twenty four, Will Smith again on the Dodgers. It's two different worlds Will Smith's uh. By the way, that twenty twenty one to twenty twenty three Will Smith is not getting enough love because that my guy.
Gets to the World Series right there.
Yeah, well when he gets there, he wins. Yeah, he's a winner, is what he is. Dan in Florida, Hi, Dan, what's on your mind?
Hey? What's up?
Dan?
First time caller of six ' sixth two fifty. I got a possible poll question. I know it's a long shot, but you guys are called the great Dan Atts from the from the Great Reggie Miller. I'm calling name change to the Great Dan Binos, the dan.
Benos, dan Binos. I love that.
Do you guys want to be called the dan Binos or the dan Nets? You guys are silly. You don't have a choice in this.
You're the dan Nets, right, I mean it's not like we went around the room and voted on Dante either. It's just kind of placed upon us, which was great. It was awesome.
Reggie Miller, he's the one that called you guys the Dants and then you had, you know, listeners go, you know dan Nettes. I mean that's women. We're like, I don't care, it sounds great. You're the Danets, like the Rockets. You're the dan Nets with less athleticism. Heath in Michigan High Heath. What's on your mind?
Hey, Dan, six foot one even two hundred? Would you entertain the idea of doing a short a short term Danette swap with levatard.
Uh No, No, I would not.
No.
I like my team, I like my roster. I love Levatar, but you know, his guys have unique talents. Let me put it this way, we don't want Stu Gotts. I think that's what it comes down to, you.
Know, and that's a big mistake.
You're making Was it the car? Did it for you?
Yeah? He took me home.
Well, that sounds weird to say he gave me a ride home from Levittard's wedding. I don't know if you can afford me, dp, I know, and you know he's selling himself to me, like, get me out of this purgatory called the Dan Lebotard Show. I'm like, no, I think I think you balance him out. I think you balance him out. You probably can't afford me. Yep, you're probably right. I can't afford you. Craig in Florida, Hi, Craig, I'm being told one out of every ten World Series Dodgers versus Yankees, Okay.
Yeah, first time sler five six, one sixty and for Marvin Small small hands eight inches. So we talked earlier about small market teams. Will Tampa Rays with the two World Series back in two thousand and eight against the Phillies and then twenty twenty against the now World Series Los Angeles Dodgers.
What do you think?
No, it happens. We know, we've seen it. It's just you know, people have this negative reaction. Its like all the big markets spending the big money and they're the ones that are playing for a World Series championship. That's why the NFL, when you get a team an outlier and you go, oh my god, that team is going to be in the super Bowl. It's not big markets. It's just people who are really good at building around. Like I always want to, you know, have the benefit of the doubt to those who build a great roster, because like the Chiefs build a great roster, and everybody's got sort of the same amount of money to play with here.
It's just how strategic you are with that.
You know.
The Packers are a small market, Yeah, they know what they're doing. The AFED really well. They find their quarterbacks, so you know, I'd love giving credit to that instead of saying, ah, we screwed up on that draft pick. Here, we're gonna spend three hundred million dollars on this guy. But that's baseball. Baseball, you can clean up a mess, can't necessarily do that in some of these other sports. All right, we'll take a break. We'll ask Rex Ryan why the Jets are favored tonight and what did he take that job if offered right now to be the Jets head coach again? Take a break back after this.
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live.
Thursday Night Football, it'll be the Jets and the Texans, with the Texans getting one and a half. Rex Ryan, ESPN NFL analyst, former head coach. You can see him with Randy Moss and Alex Smith and Teddy Bruski, Adam Schefter, Mike Greenberg. It'll be Sunday NFL Countdown every Sunday starting at ten a m.
Eastern.
Rex, good to talk to you again. Why are the Jets favored by one and a half?
Well, that's a great question. Uh, I guess people haven't watched the games. I guess, but you know, it might be might be the reason. But but but Dan, seriously, though, the Jets should dominate this game. I mean, when you look at it on paper, Houston's really I mean they're really struggling to protect the quarterback right now. Uh no, Nico Collins. Now, now you don't have digs out there, so you got one receiver to throw to. I mean, so the defense should dominate for the Jets. And then on the on the flip side, you have all this talent over there. I mean when Mike Williams is not even playing for you, you know, I mean you have DeVante Adams, You've got Garrett Wilson, you got two great backs on paper, you know, Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. You should dominate this game, but you don't play it on paper. And that's why the spread is only a point and a half when it should be about you know, eight, you know, seven or eight it looks like.
But it and I mean it really should be.
But I mean, hell, if you watch the games, you know, I see a team that is so poorly coached offensively that like, you don't take advantage of your weapons when you know with you the Jets like they should be able to run the football, But I watch them on tape. I'm seeing linebackers running through unblocked. I'm like, you know, simple things inside zone outside zone. It doesn't look like they like they even know how to hell the block like who to I D And that's what it kind of looks.
Like to me.
So you know, would you take the job if they offered it to you today?
Oh?
And I would definitely take it like, not as an interim guy, no chance, but as a yeah, full time guy, you know, next year or whatever. Absolutely, because I believe in the talent there, I know the ownership group, and I love the fan base. But of course, but at the same time, I'm not the only guy. There'd be a million guys lined up for that job.
I don't know how attractive it is though, Rex because of Aaron Rodgers.
Well, I would think that would be part of the thing that would attract you. But you got to make sure that he's one hundred percent committed to your team. I think that's going to be the big thing. Like, it can't just be on his terms. And I think no coach is going to go in there and say, Okay, it's on Aaron Rodgers' terms.
Either he's either there with you or you let him go. You know, you let him go down the road.
But you know, I think that would be whoever gets that job, that's going to be the first order of business.
I would think, Okay, would you be not that you wouldn't be able to, but would you stand up to Aaron Rodgers and say what you just said there to him and say, hey, you're either in or you're not you know, I'm not bs in here?
Who me?
Yeah, yeah, like give me a break.
Let's see. I think so, I think I might might might do it.
But the thing is, you would love to have them behind you because you're you're gonna change everything that offense is is that that's that's outdated. It's not even close to what I would would run or anybody else that goes in there, uh is gonna run.
So they don't.
They use no motion, you know, no shifts, no no formations, and yet they still had three delayed game penalties last week in the first quarter, they had to use three timeouts, like what the hell? And and they don't do anything creative over there. So to me, no, that's got to change, Like it doesn't matter, it has to change.
And is willing to do that? I don't know, you know, probably not, you know, And if that's the case, then so be it. So be it.
If you were on the sidelines and Anthony Richardson comes over and said, I took myself out because I'm tired, coach, you would have said what I.
Would have said, that's that's cool, go ahead and park it on on that bench.
And you don't have to worry you'd be tired right now. That's it, Like, I've never seen anything like it. Dad.
We how long have you covered this game? Have you ever seen a quarterback do that? Ever, I've never heard somebody admit to it. You know, somebody can be winded, get the you know, win knocked out of him or something. But you got to lie in a situation like that. You got to say, you know, my chin strap is messed up, or my communication anything.
But you know, he's twenty two and he told the truth.
Well, the thing that kills me is this, like, how the hell did he think that was acceptable?
Like, you know in his mind like, oh man, I'm just tired.
I'm gonna I'm gonna tap out like I've been rushing the pass or you know, I'm a three hundred pound defensive tackle and things.
But yeah, that's that's Ripley's.
And here's the thing that the whole team knows that somebody has obviously forced the issue, whether it's the GM saying you got to play this quarterback or whatever, because right now he's got a lower completion percent. It's in Tim Tebow. So it's like, come on stop already. And when he came out of college. I never thought. I was like, you got to be kidding me, Like, there's no way he can't. You know, he's a guy that had no idea how to read coverage is or anything else. You know, he's just a big athletic guy, a freak. But but I thought he had a million miles to come. And I was shocked how how well he played as a rookie though, and I'll be at only three or four games. I was shocked, And then it kind of felt back, this is kind of what I anticipated this year, how he's playing. But they're way better with Joe Flacco. At least they have a chance with Joe Flacco at quarterback.
In my opinion, he's Rex Ryan, NFL analyst for the Mothership, former NFL head coach. The bear situation, we've dissected that at the end of the Game of the Commanders, I just, for the life of me don't understand why a timeout wasn't called.
First of all, you gave up twelve yards.
You didn't even contest it, so now you've put him in the position to even throw the pass.
Okay, you got it. Timeout, Let's regroup.
Let's remind I don't need somebody engaging with the crowd, like I don't. They had three timeouts, Rex right, you don't take them with you when you die, Like what are you doing? I didn't understand that?
Well, absolutely Dan, when you look at it, like you can see eber Flus because he like his example, like his his explanation of the play before the hail Mary was an absolute why because you see him on the sideline.
We did a thing with Daniel Laski and.
Greeny and I and they where we showed him literally trying to get the corner down, like he's literally like we can't play like this, like we.
Got to protect a sideline and he had corners.
Clearly one of them's turned backwards, the other one's about thirty yards off, Like what are you doing? And the thing it kills me is like, you're exactly right. They should have called a timeout based on that. But here's the other thing. They should have called a timeout for your best pass rusher is sitting on the sideline. Montez Sweat is sitting on the sideline, Like, isn't that another reason to call time out? Let's get our best pass rushers on the field. They had a spy. They said, well, he's covering the back. Why the hell are you covering a running back when they need eighty hurts seventy yards. That's craziest thing I've ever heard. And they got this guy. So it's a three man rush. And by the way, they had no type of game on the three man rush. So sometimes if you present a three man rush, you're gonna put the quarterback where you won them. And they let this quarterback run around either side. They had no idea how to how to get the ball out of his hand there. You know, they get double team. Every one of them got double team. He's there for ten seconds or twelve seconds before he throws the ball down the field.
I mean, it's just it's just ridiculous. But yeah, I mean he should have.
Called time out, absolutely, one hundred percent, just to get the best personnel on the field, let alone. These guys are turned backwards and you know, John at the fans, that was another reason, but it was it was unreal and unfortunately, like for this guy. I think they have a good football team. I think the Bears have a really good football team. And obviously you got to a young you know, a young quarterback that's that's gonna sin. He's not there yet, but man, I mean he's a generational talent. So there's a lot of positive things about this team. If you're Matt Aberfluss, I don't know if you can overcome this, Dan, I don't know if you can. Like, this might be something that when they send him down the road. This is one of the reasons.
Well, I wondered when the game ended.
Is this one of those games we look back and say, if they had won that game, they might have made the playoffs? And look, he's a lame duck coat. Were you ever a lame duck coach in the last year of a contract?
I sure felt it a few times, and I sure felt at the double.
So I know what that feeling like. Mike McCarthy, Right, how can you feel comfortable? How can you not think about that?
Rex?
No, absolutely, that's on the back of your mind.
But all you can do is is like, and I've been there, I've given the old Hey, here's a one year extension or whatever. When you know, damn well what that means, Like you're you're as good as gone. But you just coach your your you know, you just cut you coach your butt off, Dan, that's what you do. You focus on that, and at no point do you ever like short change your players or or the guys that are coaching with you in in that so.
It really like you know it's there. You know you have to win.
You know it has to be you know it might not be realistic expectations or whatever, but like you've got to give every damn thing you got and that's what you owe it to And that way, when when they do run, you're out of the building at least you're sitting.
There with your head held high.
But you know what I did the very best I could and no regrets.
I know the job isn't open, we assume it will be. Is the Cowboys job a good job?
Any job in the NFL is a good job.
There's only thirty two of these things, but Dallas in particular, that's.
Like, maybe that job's not for everybody.
I get what you're saying, But if you are a guy that is competitive and wants to be in that damn arena to say, look, I'm going to show you how good I am all that type of stuff, which that's what an NFL coach should be. You want to damn. Like I mean, I would think anybody, I mean would just love that opportunity come back, say I I'm in it now, I'm in the fish bowl.
Let's go.
And it's like, you know, bringing up because that team, that team is they do a great job personnel wise, like they know what they know what a player looks like, you know, and I'll be it.
Look, I know they didn't handle the offseason very well. I get that.
You know, they probably could have, you know, the obvious one, bringing a Derek Henry or something. That team might look a hell of a lot different. But the fact is they got a lot of good players on that team, a lot of really good players on that team. So yeah, I would think they're going to get almost probably the pick of the litter on you know, these coaches like this Ben Johnson like, to me, he's an absolute superstar.
Any anybody can get him.
They had to say, all right, whatever it takes, I'm getting this guy because I think he's I think he's unique. I love how they like offensively. Everybody talks about, well, they're loaded with talent. No that's not true. Last week they played two guys that were cut this season. All right, Tim Patrick is a starting receiver, Alan Robinson as a starting receiver. The superstar wide out they have was a fourth round pick, Ammas Saint Brown.
He won't supposed to be able to run, all right.
David Montgomery was free agent anybody could have had as a running back like they do more. Jared Gofflis thrown thrown out with the bathwater. But this dude right here, he is the funnest offense to watch, really the funnest team in my opinion. They are so creative and with shift's motion, why they get tells from the defense and man do they attack and this guy attacks you so many ways, not only in the passing game, but they're the most creative run team in the National Football League. I think Sean mcvay's outstanding. All Right, I think he's outstanding. Here's what I love about Sean. He stole every run that they did against Minnesota, that Detroit did against Minnesota and used it against in five days.
All Right. I've seen Green Bay steal from this team all that.
All last year they played Dallas, the whole game plan was what Detroit had run. Like this is the guy people are stealing from. Well, this is the guy that everybody should go get and I'm sure they will. You know, he's turned down I think jobs two years in a row, so he's going to be selective on where he goes. But to me, that is a day superstar like I think he's going to be the next great one.
I really do great to talk to you, Rex, thanks for joining us. We'll be watching on Sunday.
All right, my pleasure. Dan, thank you.
That's Rex Ryan, ESPN NFL analyst and you can see him on NFL Countdown with Randy Moss, Alex Smith, Teddy Bruski had him, Schefter and Greeney and they start Sunday at ten am Eastern. I could see Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator with the Lions, coaching the Bears next season. I wouldn't have brought back Matt Eberflus because he's got you know, he's a lame duck coach. I would have started with a fresh coach, new coach with this quarterback. But you just don't want to be changing systems with you know, you've got a young quarterback. You want continuity there. It's really so important for their development. Dave and san Antonio, Hi, Dave, Hey, what's going on?
Dan, Uh, it's your boy, Dave back. You know you hung up on me yesterday. But that's okay, you know, I you know, I threw out something crazy and it, you know, didn't land.
But I'm sitting.
Watching the game last night and I thought you weren't gonna you were gonna bury the lead because the Dodgers won, But you didn't very lead today. You know you came through for me, Dan. But as I'm watching the Lakers play last night, which is my team, I sit there and I'm watching the Cavaliers play, and I go, man, these Cavaliers are really good.
Man.
With Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell won two punch, Jared Allen and Evan Mobley, I start to sit there and think, and I go, you know what, I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna put it put put it out on a limb. Even though we're in football right now and the World Series just ended, I think the Cavaliers are gonna win the finals.
I wouldn't even.
Bet a pie with Marvin that the Cavaliers win the finals.
If you down, oh, I'm in. I'll bet a pie they don't get out of the East.
Bet man, I'll be calling you back.
All right a lot, Thank you, Dave.
All Right, the Boston Celtics they're still there.
They last I looked, they were still there. Yeah, all right.
So pie to the face got the Cavaliers winning at all. Yeah, Hey, I like him, but not that uh Rigo in Arizona.
Hey Rigo.
Morning, first time, long time. Yeap, Hey Dan, I'm with forever, Dodger said, and I'm glad to see them.
They won the.
World Series last night at Yankee State. But I wanted to get your thoughts on when Aaron Judge dropped that fly ball. I think if he makes that catch next play, it's a double play because bope, instead of having to go to third, go second, you know, double play. And I think that kind of changed the dynamic of that game because Dodgers at inning were playing pretty greedy. Yankee started coming in a lot of mistakes, Garret con not coming first pace. So what do you think I think that was probably the downfall the Yankees.
Yeah, I mean it kind of kick started a domino effect there. You know, when you drop a routine fly ball, it's just crushing men in scoring position, keeping the inning alive because you're thinking Garret Cole is going to get out of the fifth and be up five to nothing. Now we're starting to think about Game six.
Yes, this kind of feels like Alice Gonzales in the two thousand and thirty NLCS with the Cubs right before a Bartman. People always forget about that play where it's like, man, he was such a sure handed infielder, and people always forget about that because of what happened next with Steve Bartman.
That is one of the more overlooked biggest mistakes in playoff history.
You just kind of go.
You have to remind people even who it was at shortstop for the Cups, because everybody knows about Barton.
All right, Last call for phone calls?
What we learn?

Every time we do this. He hates it because Fritzy.
You juxtapose that with Fritzy loves writing headline. Love not well, but you love writing headlines. And then it goes to Seaton and see you to go, Aaron, go brawl, and then Marvin will have something Paulie not here to So Todd, why didn't you lead us off? Why didn't you show the nation how it's done? Tomorrow's headline?
Today?
Off tonight's game?
Rogers on Stroud nine Jets stun Texans.
Seaton follow that.
Davant, Hey, get me out of this place, Hey.
Get me out? Oh my god. Marvin follow that.
I had this written on Monday. Hello Darkness, my old friend.
Okay, all right now, is that a good thing for the Jets?
Oh?
Hell no?
Okay?
Losing a game?
You're so sorry.
Roady in New Mexico, Hi, Roady, what's on your on?
Hey?
DP?
How's it going there?
Great?
Great?
I was just calling about the World Series. I'm not a Yankee fan. I'm not a really a Dodgers fan, a baseball fan. I helped coach my stun football team. But you know, just Aaron dropping that ball. You know, I just feel for those guys. I mean, it's it's just part of the game. It's a bummer. I mean, they're they're the best in the world, but you know, mistakes happened, and you called it. He he took his eye off the ball right there at the last minute. But you know, I just I feel for those guys. I wanted to see a game game seven.
Well, I would have been satisfied with the game six. You know, I didn't even have to have a game seven. But I mean it's the twist and turns and their little things that happen, and then a little thing led to another little thing, and then another little thing, and then it's a big thing when Freddie Freeman drives in a couple of runs. Now, all of a sudden, you got momentum on your side. Scott in California, Hi, Scott, what's on your mind today?
ADP and the Dana It's longtime listener, second time caller six two two thirty five Do Dodgers. I have a little story to tell. I went to the nineteen eighty one whole series against the Yankees, and I remember when Reggie Jackson dropped the ball and everyone in the stands was just changing Reggie and so that just reminded me of the judge.
Oops.
Yeah, but Reggie did make up for that though. You know, he did have that moment in a World Series. People don't talk about that. They talk about the three home runs. I mean, it'll stay with Aaron Judge. How long will probably be dependent on how successful he is in future postseasons. Jordan in Ohio, Hi Jordan, what's on your mind?
Hey Jordan, longtime listener, long time caller. I'm going to wrap Dayton, Ohio strong today.
At A five nine.
And I have a tomorrow's headline leading off of my question. My question is after the performance that Jed had in the World Series, because to me, have all the bought and sold players for the Yankees. He's the first crew Blue captain sins Derek Jeter. Does he have a Steve Young monkey on his back? With the Yankees lore? And tomorrow's headline Judge with a Young monkey on his back?
Okay, I don't know where that will be the headline, but I guess maybe the Post or Daily News.
Not sure you want to clean up the poll question results their seaton?
Yeah, we could do that. The best Halloween candy.
Seventy sorry, eighty percent have that as chocolate over gummy if I agree with that, Okay, whatever, Let's see who feels worse today. Fifty five it's fifty six percent of the audience have Aaron Judge feeling worse than Garrett Cole, much worse than the Los Angeles Angels.
Nobody, Anthony Volpi no reason to feel bad.
Yeah, nobody cares. He had a Grand Slam in their World Series is he had.
A moment in that inning that I felt like you got to put him there.
Oh, Todd got some love from the San Jose Sharks because he wore his shark outfit.
Mario put it out there on social media and he see them on Twitter and they said the best kind of shark.
Yeah, San Jose Sharks put out there. Yeah, that costume. We weren't wearing costumes. Fritzy comes in in the shark costume and I said, you can wear it for the first segment. Then that's it, because then you know, we look like we're no fun police here.
I didn't have a pucker, a stick or anything.
I just said, you know, I'm a San Jose Shark today, and they kicked out of it.
This day in sports history, Marvin, do you have a couple?
I do. In nineteen eighty four, Venus Williams, fourteen year old Venus Williams made her debut at the Bank of the West Classic in Oakland, California, and sad News. In two thousand and three, Bethany Hamilton, age thirteen, got an arm bitten off by a shark while surfing in Hawaii. And nineteen eighty eight, the first Monday night football game played in Indianapolis, the Colts beat Fritzy's Denver Bronx. I watched that Eric Dickerson ran for like a thousand yards and they lost like fifty four to ten. It was an embarrass no, no relax, it was fifty five to twenty three.
But it was on this day.
In nineteen eighty seven, the Rams, Colts and Bills completed a trade that sent Eric Dickerson to Indianapolis. Remember Jim Gray broke that story, and he might have been at a Halloween party, but he ran into Eric and Eric ended up going to the Colts. But I remember Jim Gray with ESPN at the time. Let me see Derek rose career high fifty points in twenty eighteen. That was one of those weird Wait, Derek Rose scored fifty with the Timberwolves. Wow, okay, and Earl Lloyd first African American to play in an NBA game on this day. That was nineteen fifty. Let's go round the room. What we learned on the program? If we learned anything. By the way, make sure you check out the Dan Patrick Show store Dan Patt dot com, the Foliage flannels.
They are.
Gorgeous.
Todd.
Would you learn today?
Marvin Son killing it again?
Bruno mars his costume for Halloween.
Yeah, your wife does a great job with your son with his costumes. He's had some really good ones. Set and O'Connor, what did you learn today? You have to see the ball and catch the ball first. It's keep your eye on the ball. That's what we say to kids, and even the big leaguers don't do it.
Marvin, what did you learn today?
Rex Ryan says the Lions are the funnest team in the NFL.
And Rex's son, I think is a receivers coach. Yeah for the Lions. Correct, thank you just to play a Clemson Thank you to Yeah? What did I learn?
Ton?
Rex Ryan says? Any head coaching job in the NFL is a good jobs. The Carolina job a good job.
