Hour 2 – Texans Need to Replace Stefon Diggs, John Smoltz

Published Oct 30, 2024, 4:23 PM

Dan considers which wide receivers the Houston Texans should pursue to replace injure Stefon Diggs. And World Series broadcaster and Hall of Fame P John Smoltz drops by to weigh in on the Yankees win in game 4 and the idiot fans that interfered with Mookie Betts.

You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio Our two.

On this Wednesday. We're down to Danette. Paulie's out today. Marvin says that he will do twice the work today. He is Marvin front row. Wait what, Yes, you're going to have to fill in for Paulie. You got to kind of lift up the front row there.

Our rink is coming up next hour.

Yeah.

So Seaton is here, the Minister of humor, Fritzie is here, and yours truly stat of the Day always brought you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program. And John Smoltze was on the call last night. John will join us in about twenty minutes from now, Big ten Saturday Night Wisconsin and Iowa. That'll be Saturday on NBC and Peacock. Here comes Saturday Night, presented by Discover. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you, it's our streaming partner. Download the app if you haven't done so. And our radio affiliates around the country over four hundred cities. Chris Sims Pro Football Talk will join us a little bit later on the Texans What do you do with Stefan Diggs now out?

And you know, this is.

Where you can say to some of these teams, the contenders, well, what are you willing to give us? Because you have to make that decision. Are you buying? Are you selling? The Texans obviously are buying. Can they get somebody else? What do the Niners do? The Steelers? Are they comfortable with that lineup? Anybody else who's going to be in the mix for a wide receiver? And I am serious about the DeVante Adams situation. I would at least if I'm the Texans, ask about him they play on Thursday Night against the Jets, I would at least say, is Davante Adams available? And I would just rent him for the rest of this season. Stefan Diggs, you know, talk about an uncertain future. You tear your ACL and you're going to be a free agent at the end of the season. Poll question Seaton from hour one, what are we going to go with an hour?

Two? Hour one?

We've got up there?

Bullpen games are soft or smart? Right now on Twitter, about seventy percent of the audience are saying they're soft soft, Matt. The results on Danpatrick dot com are about the same. Okay, yeah, we're also just putting up there. The Yankee fan who tried to rip off Mooki Bets's glove was a hero or zero results pending, Okay results pending.

New Foliage flannels available in the store Danpatrick dot com. They look great. Also, I have information on when you can order the calendar for the DP show. Yep, once again the French kid did a wonderful job and it's always a big hit holiday wise. Also, some tailgate moonshine available. Go to Danpatrick dot com sign up for the newsletter if you haven't done so. Spend a lot of time talking about one moment and that was in the first inning, and it sounded like this.

Fly right by Torres that's in the corner. Does he have room fights.

With the fan and they're gonna say that it's an out and fan interference, and yeah, Bett says that ball in his club and this fan literally tries to take his glove off, pries the ball out of.

There a for effort. Well, he won't be watching the game much longer. And John Smoltz was right.

They kicked him and his partner is an accomplished out. But apparently they're season ticket holders. They're able to go to the game tonight, go figure, but one of the guys had the quote. Afterwards, Mothership caught up with these guys. They went to a bar after they got tossed, and one of the guys said, we always joke about the ball in our area. We're not going to go out of our way to attack. If it's in our area, we're going to d up. Someone defends, someone knocks the ball, we talk about it.

We're willing to do this.

Strategy.

I don't know if you had that on the plaque or anything. I mean, it looks like one of those whatever it takes, this is what we're going to do.

Oh what is that from World War Two? No? No, no, it's a Yankee Dodger Game four. Yes.

The number of Sopranos memes going around right now featuring that fella.

Is hilarious, absolutely hilarious. How are they using that.

Like Tony Soprano being like, you know, what's the guy's name, like Austin, Austin Capo Bianco or something like.

That, and that in our house, that man is a hero. This is very funny. Jimmy Skunjeel and Tommy Calamara.

Yeah, that's right, he's gonna be at you know, Delio's pizza for fifteen grand today signing autographs.

Who is that Tommy DeVito? Tommy de Vito?

Any chance they have the same agent.

Right now, Anthony Volpi is gonna be at the pizzeria.

Yeah, get them both together.

Yeah, love guy and yeah, if they're going to reenact trying to take the ball out of Mookie's glove.

There, gotta do what you gotta do.

David in Ohio, Hey David, what's on your mind?

Yeah?

Dan, I got a theory on how the Yankees can come back down three one. I think they need to go on a dark answer treat with Aaron Rodgers. I'm all listening to the sound of silence. I think that's really gonna I'm really gonna give him a better chance of winning there.

Okay, Yeah, well you got to make peace with the darkness. According to Aaron Rodgers, I'm curious how this game plays out tomorrow night, the Jets against the Texans, and just you know, I keep waiting for the Jets to have some pride. And it's interesting. Now you have people calling for Rex Ryan to come to the rescue, and Rex would coach right now, of course he would. I mean he's on get up on Monday. That's about it. Nobody else is calling Rex, and Rex is like, hey, I'd be there anytime.

You guys want Daddy to come home, you know where to call me. You know where to find me, Daddy. You guys want Daddy coming back home, you just let me know. I'm right here.

Yeah, yes, Marvin.

Sorry.

In the spirit of Paul, perhaps a new poll question which Aaron is under more pressure tomorrow?

Aaron Judge or Aaron Boone?

Aaron Rodgers.

Well, I would say this week, because the Yankees play tonight this week.

Yeah, so who's on.

Aaron Rodgers isn't under pressure, it's over like there's there's no pressure.

Yeah, but don't you think he looks at Davante and he's like, man, I'm sorry, Bro, I really thought that you were the missing piece. Turns out yeah no, yeah.

Hey my bad. Yeah.

I would say, now, Aaron Judge had a quality game last night, didn't Homer?

I think kill Homer tonight.

But I would say Aaron Boone is on the hot seat far more than the other. Aaron's m Yeah. Now, I don't know if Aaron Boone's going to get fired, but I think if they got swept, you know, maybe there's that possibility, especially you know when you have the analytics like you start out and Freddie Freeman, you're going to pitch? Do him with the bases loaded. I'm going to put that on the manager too. Granted the pitcher hadn't pitched in five weeks, but I'm going to put that on the manager. Why did you put the pitcher in there? And then Freddie Freeman Homer's once again last night.

Yes, Mark, is Aaron Boone under the most pressure could because he's the only person that can get fired.

Yeah, I don't think Brian Cashman is going to get fired the GM, but I would.

Say maybe Aaron Boone is disposable. I don't know.

I don't have any source with the Yankees. Finally know what I read like everybody else, he just I feel like he manages his team out of victory a lot, or he manages them into a loss a lot. But let's see what they do. Maybe there's some new life there here is Aaron Boone. After the big win.

Last night, our guys were ready to play.

Obviously a lot of really good at bats, you know, Volpe with a big blow, but like you said the bottom of the order, Volpi Wells dugo all with really good bat at bats and then just a nice job of tacking on there a lot of people getting in on the act.

Was great.

That's the key. That's what we've been saying. The difference will be at the bottom of the lineup. Do you get contributions? And the Yankees got that last night. Robin Orlando, Hi, Rob, what's on your mind?

Dan to Scuojili Brothers.

You need me on that wall.

You want you on that wall?

Thank you?

Ron?

Anything else? Rob? No, that was it? Jimmy Skunjeal and Tommy Kelamary.

Uh what Jimmy Seal?

Yeah?

And Tommy Kelamary.

I know Calvin in North Carolina.

Hi Calvin, Hey, good morning, DP and the Fellas Hey. I was telling Tyler that I think you guys missed opportunity with Aaron Rodgers. When you talk about the darkness, y'all should have played the clip from Dark Knight when band said, oh you think darkness is your ally? You really adopted the darkness. I was born into it more than by it. I didn't see the light until I was a man in By then, it was blinding perfect time. Hey loved the show. South of North Carolina. Y'all guys are excellent. First time, long time called.

Thank you Calvin, thank you for the impersonation there. All right, we'll get to more phone calls coming up eight seven to seven three DP show Jack Flaherty versus Garrett Cole coming up tonight. Anthony Richardson benched for Joe Flacco, the thirty nine year old Joe Flacco, but they said that the benching wasn't based on him saying take me out of the game. I'm tired. I mean, you can take him out for that, but he hasn't played well. He'll give you a highlight or two, but if you watch a full game with him, you just see that he's not ready for this moment. And he hasn't. You know, he didn't distinguish himself at Florida. You saw glimpses. And this is what GM's owners coaches fall in love with. It's the potential instead of somebody produces right in front of you, like Deshaun Watson when he was in college winning a national championship. He played great throughout his career, but it felt like, you know, GMS had seen everything that they could see out of Deshaun Watson, and Deshaun Watson was a really good quarterback at one point. But it felt like, well, we want potential, and you're like, okay, potential gets you fired. I want somebody. This is why when you look at if I was a college coach, I want somebody who's already done it. You know, high school kid coming in, that's potential. I want somebody who's already in college, who's done it. I'll pay for that in nil. Yes, Marvin, but.

Wait, what if he has a higher ceiling. There's nothing worse than when somebody says he's got a higher ceiling.

Or he doesn't have as low of a floor, but he has a higher ceiling and a higher motor.

Like Anthony Richardson is definitely he to me, he was an NBA draft pick. He averaged about seven points, but those seven points were spectacular and he got picked third or fourth overall. Like, man, but did you see the measurables? Like, oh my gosh, I know, can he play?

He can throw the ball sixty yards sok, Kyle Bowler, Yes, off his back foot. I remember somebody, a scout said to me, because when you played for Jeff Tedford at Cal. Those quarterbacks when they came out weren't quite ready. They didn't acclimate to the NFL. I mean, Rogers eventually did, but kind of where you hold the football, like all of this stuff. And I had somebody who said, because I was like Kyle Bowler, and I had somebody who said, Hey, he can throw a football from his knees fifty yards And I said, when is he going to be able to do that in the NFL If he's on his knees, I don't care. I'm just telling you how strong his arm is. I said, I want to I want to have guy as an accurate arm. Give me, give me and call me crazy. I'd like an accurate arm, not a strong arm. That kind of arm talent. Oh man, he can throw it, and he can throw it eighty is somebody on the other end. That's what I want to know.

Greatest throw of the football in the draft?

Question?

Yeah, Steven salt Lake, Hi, Steve.

Hey, this is STEVEE six feet one.

Got a question.

I'm driving some people around and they're trying to buy part of the University of Utah football team as an investment and getting rid of the nil the guy was saying, forty five to fifty five teams are going to end up doing this, and that's going to be your league.

We're headed towards that.

I've been right on all of this in projecting how this is all going to play out.

Now.

I've been fortunate to have people who have been in the you know, they decision making process with this, and so I've been given at least background on this, or a heads up on something, or keep an eye on something. That's where we're headed. It's going to be the pro model. I still would love to see relegation. I think that would be give the opportunity for you know, an outlier to get in and be able to play in the A League, the Serie A, and then you have relegation, which would be you know, pretty pretty incredible. Just imagine those games that don't mean anything until they mean something. You know, you're going to have all of the best teams and not everybody's going to be able to stay that. Maybe you have four teams that you know are demoted. I think that would be interesting here. But yes, we're going to have a collective bargaining agreement rev share. They're going to be salaries. I mean, that's it's inevitable, and we're going to go from twelve to probably twenty four playoff teams. Remember, they weren't going to go at more than four, and I said, you guys got a winning lottery ticket in your hand, why wouldn't you cash it? And then they expanded twelve because they didn't want to ruin the pageantry.

Of the bull season.

I said, bowl bleep, you are going to do that, and you're going to try to push this up as quick as you can because it's millions and millions based on you know, soon to be billions.

Yes, Mark, when it goes to twenty four teams, I can't wait until teams twenty five, six, twenty seven complain that they didn't get in.

No, that's like the sixty ninth team in the tournament. We got job. No, you're the sixty ninth team.

You didn't get job. Jeff and Charlotte, Hi Jeff, what's on your mind today?

Hey Dan, first time caller, longtime listener, six foot one ninety. This is really exciting. I'm been trying to get on your guys show for a while. Uh, you guys are talking about the Texans and training for a wide receiver and looking at devantaam is my thought process is why not look at Garrett Wilson from the Jets and pair him back up with his college quarterback in CJ. Stroud and see how that goes.

That's a good call, Thank you, Jeff. I like that.

I'm going to ask Chris Simms when he joined this in an hour from now about that.

But you know what was it? Last week?

As soon as they got Davonte Adams, I started to see articles that talked about is Garrett Wilson available? And I'm like, gosh, I don't you just got Davante Adams. Don't you want to pair him with Garrett Wilson. So I was surprised at that unless he's disgruntled he's no longer the number one wide receiver. But I don't I haven't seen anything lately that he would be available. But yeah, I think that'd be CJ. Stroud would be all in favor of that. Bring in my college teammate. All right, we'll take a break. We'll talk to John Smoltz certainly about well, there's a few things. Certainly with last night fan interference. Aaron Judge Otani does not look healthy at all. And this was a bullpen game. Now, big game coming up tonight at Yankee Stadium. So John Smoltzel join us next here on the Dan Patrick Show.

Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live.

When it comes to playoff baseball, you can't just rely on the stars. We've been talking about this since the World Series started. The Dodgers have had multiple instances where their role players became stars. We're still waiting for the Yankee stars to be stars. But in the meantime, you had Anthony Volpi breaking the game wide open with that Grand Slam, Labor Torres put the game out of reach with his home run bottom of the eighth. So you're getting these guys at the bottom of the lineup, and that has been the difference or the biggest difference with the Dodgers, aside from Freddie Freeman surprisingly good starting pitching.

Last night was a bullpen game.

Now you got to get ready, and as I said yesterday, do not be the guy who's saying, hey, when's the parade that you're not giving the Yankees a chance too good.

A team got a great pitcher on the mound.

Maybe there's some momentum, but you know, John Smoltz knows momentum is that next starter and that's why Garrett Cole that's a big advantage over Jack Flaherty and maybe Aaron Judge found something last night that's bringing John Smoltz. John was on the call for Game four last night. John, thanks for joining us. Let's start with the Mookie Betts play. You've been around baseball a long time. Have you ever seen anything that comes close to that?

No? No, that was that was as bad as it gets. I mean, you know, sometimes you lose your mind when space and awareness, and I think that gentleman lost his all at he believed that seat, that sphere was his and he was going to get that ball no matter what. Luckily nothing came of it. But you can imagine if your Mookie Betts just a sensation of somebody's grabbing not only your glove, but if that wall's hired, he's suspended in the air. So I was pretty confident when I made a statement he's going to be ejected, and he was.

Yeah, but I think he's allowed back tonight. I don't think he's your ban for the rest of the World Series or one more game. I think he can come back to a hero's welcome tonight.

He could come back.

You know, we've seen plays that have affected outcomes, obviously famous plays Tony Tarasco and being the greatest miscall in the history of calls. But at least this one was in fall territory, and at least this one we have replays, so it would have been easily easily overturned.

And once again, Freddie Freeman Homer's how do you explain this, John.

It's really something I've been doing this a long time. You don't see this switch come on very often. This is not you know, sometimes when an athlete's hurt, we make you know too much of it. This is not making too much of it. This is actually an injury that was severe that the time off allowed tremendous work to be done, and is timing and the ability to hit with power. I can honestly say the first couple of weeks nobody expected him at a home run because he couldn't hit off his front foot. And now to do what he's doing. It's the reason why Freddie is Freddy.

I Sometimes we see a team that hasn't done anything and then they had the offensive explosion, and then we try to decide, Okay, does that mean there's more of that in store tonight or maybe that's their one chance to stand up and not you know, and to avoid a sweep. So what side are you leaning towards tonight?

Well, in a World series, in a best of seven, it's not like football, where the emotion can carry you through a quarter or win a game, and you could run through a wall and just ride that emotion. You know the old adage, your next day starting pitcher is your momentum. Right, they got Garrett Cole. But I said this the other night, and I believe it that if you can get some joke of energy from an unexpected source or just your star, you start seeing that energy. Like I hate using the phrase the team is flat. The team's flat because they're not hitting. The team's flat because they're not scoring runs. So you come to the park with a little bounce in your step. But the only reason you continue to play is if you do those little things that they did last night, and they weren't doing it in three games leading up to it. Talking to John Smoltz.

John will be on the call tonight as we have Game five at Yankee Stadium. I mentioned this yesterday. You got to have those guys at the bottom of the order who do something for you, and that has been the difference for the Dodgers. The Yankees got those contributions. And I go back to you know, when you guys had Mark Lemke, there's always a guy. You don't expect that guy to be a star. And the Yankees, you know, they're kind of looking for that can somebody pitch in here and help us? Do they have a good enough lineup to be able to kind of find that guy on a consistent basis going on?

Well, And that's the key, right You get a lineup card as a pitcher, you circle certain guys and you go, unfortunately or fortunately, I'm going to go make this guy beat me. And when this guy beats you, it's a shock to the system a little bit because you've taken care of the big boys and then all of a sudden, the length of the lineup. That's why the Dodgers are so good. Look, they don't get enough credit because of everything that surrounds the payroll.

The roster.

You know, expectation. But what the Yankees lacked so far in this series is that depth that bottom of the lineup. And if they can get that going, the stress of the top of the lineup is there.

It's real.

The pitchers have to deal with that. So I think the Dodgers have put more resources on bases. And then last night, finally, I think six walks a hit batsman. I mean, that's what the Yankees do when they win baseball games.

And then it was kind of an oh, by the way, but Judge gets the base hit RBI. Those are the kind of things I said. He needs to get a like a bleeder, something that just finds, you know, soft landing there for a base knock there. What are you seeing that he's doing or not doing at the play? Well, yesterday he had a lot of great takes. Most people say, well, big deal. No, you got to start with a great take. You got to stop swinging at those pitches. And then the pitcher goes, oh, shoot, he's not swinging at it. I got to pit closer to the plate or I'm going to walk them. The fact that he got on base four times is huge. I mean, this is a narrative that.

He knows it's sometimes really unfair for the great players to have to do great things all the time.

But it's a start. And I think he's a click away, I really do.

I said it.

He's a click away from really making a ball disappear into the sky, which is what this Yankee crowd's been waiting for.

And what did you see with Otani? He had that one at bat where he kind of flailed at it. Didn't look on top of things comfortable there.

Well, I say this all the time. If nobody knew Otani had a shoulders injury and he was in the lineup, the Dodgers are better. So he's limited. Look, he's this is not something that I don't think people realize what he's doing. When you pop your shoulder out, you got information, you got small tears, you got an uncomfortable you don't run normally holding your collar. I mean that's just telling you the discomfort he's under. So he's still a threat. He's eliminated though the threat of when he gets on base, he's not going to steal, So all these things that go into it. They're still better with him in there, as banged up as he is, and yes, he's not completely right because he has to make sure that he trusts what not getting hurt versus being in the lineup to help his team win this series go back to La. You know I've said the pressure turns when you have to think about not You know, Rodgers don't want to bring the Yankees to La. They still have a huge decided advantage the series. The statistics talk about it, but when you can win a game, you change the narrative a little bit. The narrative is, oh, they got Garrett Cole on the mountain, and then oh, now it may switch to the Dodgers. You have to be so menally tough to not listen to the noise, and the teams that usually have been there done that, learn how to do that.

Great to talk to you, have fun tonight. Thank you again, John, my pleasure. John Smoltz, our good buddy, will be on the call tonight.

Game five.

Weather should be a little warmer than expected. They're expecting temperatures around seventy mid seventies tomorrow afternoon, but tonight should be a little warmer. But you're curious if you can carry that over if you're the Yankees and if you're the Dodgers. Can you get out in front, because that's been the key so far, getting out in front, putting even more pressure on the big three in the Yankees lineup with Soto and Stanton and certainly Aaron Judge. Some phone calls in here, let's see Darryl in Springfield.

Hi Darryl.

Hello, mister Patrick, how are you great?

Good?

I have a comment on mister Freeman. This is what I don't understand. If I hope the Yankees pitching coaches are listening to this is someone smacking a home run every game, especially when there's people on base.

Why don't you just walk him?

Just walk him?

I don't get it.

Have anyone heard of hack a shack?

Thank you, Daryl?

If you walk him, and then you have other guys have to deal with as well. I just don't like the pitch location that you can pitch to Freddie Freeman. But I got to pitch to him away or if I go inside, I really go inside. They kind of put it in if you said, all right, this is going to be a mailbox. The size of the mailbox right there, do not go there. That's the do not go zone with Freddie Freeman. Because he's waiting for something down and in Jesse and Wilmington, Hi, Jess.

Hey, how's it going, Dan?

Great? Oh mister Patrick, everything's great. Thank you good.

A Major League Baseball needs to step in and kick these two guys out from the Yankee Stadium, because what's going to happen when they come back to LA. If they come back to LA and they got Juan Soto or Dougie Halser coming down the line and some of these LA fans do the same thing, what's going to happen.

Well, they shouldn't let these fans who have season tickets into the game tonight. This is the last game that's going to be played at Yankee Stadium this year. Do not reward them, allow them back to me that that's where I start.

No, you're not allowed back.

These guys are already saying like they're they're they're defending you know, a hill in battle, like, hey, you come over here, We're defending our turf.

Like, give me a break.

Uh.

Jim in Florida, Hi Jim, what's on your mind?

Good morning, Dan Dannetz. I just heard John Smolt saying that was the worst thing he's ever seen, and actually way back. I remember Jimmy Pierce all out from right field or center field wherever he was, and two Yankee people came out onto the field yelling at him and started a fight with them, and Mickey mantles, I have second base. Of course, Jimmy beat the hell out of these two guys, and I don't know, I imagine they were arrested, But I thought that was pretty bad when two fans come out to beat up Pearsal. They were yelling at them, we're going to get you your nuts.

Well, there have been more egregious acts. If you remember the White Sox, the father and son, Hey, father and son moment at the stadium.

Hey, what are we gonna do?

Dad?

How about we go up, go out and beat up the first base coach? Okay, Dad, that's a great bonding moment.

Yeah.

Yeah, I don't know that these two things are comparable.

No, they're not.

No, because I keep seeing the word of salt being thrown around, like can Mookie press charges against these bozzles?

Huh?

I mean, what are we doing here?

You know?

The other thing, too, is like if most people agree that like this type of behavior is completely inappropriate and like atrocious, right, and not the spirit of the game. Why are we so worried about now everyone copying? Well, what all of a sudden everybody's what if everybody does it? Is where do they go to the Dodgers and we're all doing that now too?

Well, I don't know.

Do you think that this is terrible behavior, then don't do it.

One of the guys was quoted as saying, we always joke about the ball in our area. We're not going to go out of our way to attack. If it's in our area, we're going to d up. Someone defends, somebody knocks the ball, we talk about it.

We're willing to do this.

I think the keyword in there is joke. They do joke about the ball in the area. But the joke it didn't sound like, Hey, we're going to d up. That doesn't sound like, hey, come on, we're just goofing around here. Hey, but if you come in here, we're.

Going to d up.

Someone defends, somebody knocks the ball, We're willing to do this.

I think that that's how they said that, Yes, with a very stern and serious Hey, you come over here, you better know what to exp.

I think I think that's what Jimmy Skunjeel and Tommy Kalamario.

It's so weird that the person who wrote the article would put in the word they joked about it.

Then, well, no, he says, we joke about it. We always joke about the ball in our area. And then he gets serious, because I do think that when they approached him at the bar, when they said to him, Hey, you want to comment on this, We're not going to go out of our way to attack. If it's in our area, we're going to d up. Someone defends, someone knocks the ball.

We talk about it.

We're willing to do this.

I think that's how he sounded that dramatic.

Yes, Marvin, the guy that took the baseball out of the glove, that was kind of funny.

But if I was Mookie, you put your hand on mind.

Yeah, the guy who grabs his wrist.

That's one of those.

Now, if I take this glove and I slapped the dog crap out of you with it, I'd be wrong, right, I.

Mean, that was a salt.

That was a salt.

What I witnessed there Yankees fans, that.

Was a like that was the thing.

Like I didn't think it was like the World's You know, he didn't try to kill him or anything, but.

You can't put your hand on somebody.

But it becomes like, I'm at work, why are you talking? Like why are you touching me?

You can't put your hand on him. And then they're trying to rip the ball. It's like they're opening up gifts on Christmas. And he couldn't wait to rip the wrapper off, and I can't wait for that.

He looked like my son trying to open up his googurt.

All right, we'll take a break we update our poll results. Chris Simms from Pro Football Talk will join us. We had an interesting suggestion. Maybe the Texans asked the Jets about Garrett Wilson reunite him with CJ. Stroud after the injury to Steffan Digs. We'll take a break back after this.

Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio in the iHeartRadio WAP.

There have been twenty three World Series Grand Slams. Twelve of those involved the Yankees, nine by the Yankees, three hit against the Yankees. All right, let me see Jalen in North Carolina, Hi, Jalen, went's on your mind today?

Hey?

Dan?

Six three to fifty. I'm a I'm a big Yankees fan. I was watching that game last night, and I think those guys in the stands deserve a plaque and more park. I think that changed the momentum of the series. Those guys showed more heart than at that point in the in the series. The Yankees have the whole the whole series. I think that changed the momentum. And I think if we win, if we end up making some historic comeback, which we won't, but if we did, they deserve a plaque something in front of the stadium whatever. I'm not condoning it, but it was awesome to sit.

I think you're condoning it if you're going to give them a plaque, Jaalen.

I mean, I'm not saying that I approve of it, but how can we honor them in some way?

But we need to honor them.

I mean, I'm not saying that I approve, just saying that, but we should honor them some way.

To commemorate Brent in Connecticut, Hi, Brent, what's on your mind?

Hey?

Dan?

I got two quick things.

What would have happen if Mooki's arm was twisted and he was injured.

For the rest of the series. Dave Roberts should have those guys removements who they sit down at the game tonight.

In my opinion, I am shocked that they're allowed in the game tonight after that. Now, is it the worst thing that we've seen? No, but when you grab Mooki's wrist, that's the point of no return. Point of no return. The guy wants to get the ball. He thinks you've invaded his turf. He wants to get the ball out of your glove. I don't know why it's called and out. It's fan interference. And then the other guy is holding on to Mooki. Now they should not be allowed in the park tonight.

Yes, Tom, Now you certainly cant assess punishment based on whether Moviie got hurt or to what extent something happened to him. What they did was inexcusable and it should not be sitting in those seats.

Yeah, it's a it's a very valid point. Tom in North Carolina. Hi, Tom, what's on your mind today?

Hey?

DP?

Two quick things I know I was thinking about when I was watching, when I was on Sunday, I was thinking about you and that that long parlay the Green Bay kicker Markel or Corkl or whatever you said.

His name was Chester Markle.

Chess or Markley.

On Sunday, I had a eight leg parlay that tings on. That game was a moneyline parlay. It was eight legs and that was the only leg that lost.

Yeah, that's that was one of the true bad beats I ever had that Chester Markle, Green Bay Packers, Hillsdale College, asked, is the field goal?

And I win?

Kick the field goal, gets blocked, goes right back to him, runs around the left side, scores a touchdown.

I lose.

Tom Dempsey when he kicked his sixty three yard field goal.

I lost that.

You don't remember your wins. You always remember. Now, you don't tell people your bad beats, but you do remember them more than the victories. Because somebody won that bet with Chester Markle with the ricochet. When somebody won that bet with Tom Dempsey and his field goal. So you have the opposite side. Nope, whenever there's a bad beat, there is an unbelievable, unexpected win.

Yes, Martin, isn't that just life in general? Like you still talk about Jenny Batchie.

Yeah, but that's really her loss. That's a bad beat for her.

You hate to see someone throw away, Yeah, something so promising.

It's yeah, you.

Were I you had potential? Or was Jenny Batchy Anthony Richard she had potential? She had potential? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I was sort of Joe Flacco.

You know, I'm just there and then old reliable until I'm not there anymore and I've moved on. Imagine how more fulfilled her life would be if she had hitched a.

Ride on this wagon, right, yeah.

Yeah, understandable.

Yeah, but look threw it all away, Yes she did, so she's the Browns.

She guys could have had her.

Well, she does live in that area by the Cleveland Browns. Just saying, not that I followed her. Oh dear, oh dear, No, I'm just aware of, you know, where a lot of people I went to school with live, Okay, including especially the pretty ones. Hey do you want to know where you know this? Tommy Scuba is No? What about Cherry? Oh Cherry? You know she lives outside Cincinnas.

Oh she.

German, God go off Man to feel.

That might be top ten right there for the Toddler songs to belt out.

It is gotta admit great song. Do we have ten that he can bell down?

That might be top five?

Actually yeah, four point.

Fresh in Milwaukee is back, Hey, fresh.

This Milwaukee Fresh in the building. I got two quick things for you, DP. First one is Joe Flackoll starting for the Colds. Okay, Joel Flackoll and Jamis Wiston. They gotta be the herpies of the NFL. I mean, this is the gifts that keep on given, right wow. And second of all, it's the fiftieth anniversary of the Bumble in the Jungle, so we got to give some love to Ali informan and I was hoping you have met one of one or both and could give me a nice little story.

I met both of them. Whenever.

You know, George Foreman changed because he was the baddest dude on the planet, acted like, looked like, you know, performed like that. But when you take somebody's heart, this happened with Tyson, with Buster Douglas, this it happens. It's like they're invincible until they're not. Ronda rousing when she got knocked out my Holly home, that was it. The mystery was over. And what Ali did with George Foreman, is he took his heart. He let him hit, and George Foreman hit as hard as anybody we've ever had in the heavyweight division. And Ali with the ropodope and who knows what kind of damage that led to could only imagine. But he had a game plan. I thought they were going to stop the fight a couple of times, but he I don't know if they conveyed that this is my strategy.

I'm going to tire him out and then I'm going to knock him out. But yes, and.

Did meet Ali. I met Ali late in his life. Was at an award show. I was the host and I was presenting him with an award. He wasn't able to speak. And then I was on the story when he checked into the hospital for Parkinson. So yes, I met both of them. Chris Sim's going to join us coming up, talks and football with him. More phone calls as well. Operator Tyler sitting by waiting to speak to you a final hour on this Wednesday, coming up
