Good morning.
If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for allowing us into your TV sets there. Wherever you're sampling this show. You can download the app if you haven't done so. Browns meet the Steelers. Brown's and now three and eight, Steelers are eight and three. And I had a couple of takeaways from this. I wasn't surprised that the Browns won. Yes, you know, the weather did play a role, but it's not like Pittsburgh is Arizona. They're used to this kind of weather, or they should be used to this kind of weather. And both teams run the football and play good defense.
That's it. I was surprised at some.
Of the play calling in the fourth quarter by the Steelers and oh, we have justin fields in it's third down. Hey, they're never gonna think he's throwing a pass. Russ was playing well. Jamis Winston. He's fun to watch. He is I couldn't have him as my quarterback because he would drive me crazy, but I do entertaining he is content, and even listening to him after the wind last night, describing the weather.
That fourth quarter, it really was like it was a it was a whole paradigm shift, like we were playing so well offensively and then bang bang, back to back drives were turnover and I'm just like, oh my gosh, like this is really an NFL's film moment. The snow, stars pouring down, it stars getting like I felt like the my feet started getting heavy because I'm I'm squashing through the snow and uh man, it was so good and it was so great to end up getting that win.
He sounds like he's doing a stand up act, like he's he's describing something.
You know, it's Kevin Hard Chris Rock describing it with so much enthusiasm. Yes, Marman.
Yeah, he sounds like Arsenio Hall when he plays the peach Preacher and coming to America. Ah, there's a god some.
What are you talking about?
Seeton?
What's the poll question for hour two? Brady Quinn from Fox gonna join coming up a little bit?
Yeah, what thing?
He had to like he's walking off the field.
Javis is like, I'm gonna go home and order me a dub on Amazon.
Be there by nine thirty. That's what I'm gonna do and order a dub. What are you talking about? Dude?
What the hell is going on? And he has this like bewildered face all the time. Is truly unique, No, he is, truly he is.
What do we have hour two?
Let me clean up the poll question? Okay, And I'd rather play football at Michigan or LSU. Oh dang right now, LSU has fifty four percent of that vote.
Okay, that's not bad.
Well, Bryce Underwood he has recommitted after decommitting to LSU.
He's gonna go to Michigan.
Now.
He is from the Michigan areas, like twenty minutes away from Ann Arbor, five star recruit, the nation's number one overall player, and a Michigan native, and he has now decided that he's gonna stay a local with Michigan, which means their offer was probably better than LSU's, which is saying a lot because LSU got Jaden Daniels and they ponied up to get him and he won him a Heisman. But I mean Michigan perfect timing. You talk about leverage. Every time Michigan plays, his price tag probably went up. So Bryce Underwood is going to go to Michigan. You also have a five star recruit who was committed to SMU now going to Alabama, Keelan Russell and Julian Lewis he was committed to USC, now he's going to Colorado.
Oh.
He is ranked the number nine cornerback.
Now.
As soon as I saw this Marvin sent it to me yesterday, and I'm like, all right, maybe Prime time. Maybe Prime is staying in Colorado. If you're gonna make that commitment, you're going to flip him from USC to go to Colorado. Maybe Dion is telling us the truth. He's got the kickstand down, He's going to be staying there for a little while, all right. Eight seven to seven three DP show email address dpat dan Patrick dot com, Twitter handle a TP show. Rex Ryan is trying his hardest. Former head coach with the Bills and the Jets. He is really trying. He wants to coach the Jets. He was on the ESPN radio pleading his case.
I look at it this way, blow it up. We're going to blow the opponents up. There's way too much talent on this team to play the way we've been playing.
Period, And how hard can you get a guy to play?
That's the thing, Like nobody's seen the team going to play the way as hard as this team's going to play in the future. Trust me. If I'm the guy, trust me, and that's going to be it. That's what's going to separate me from all these other guys you're going to bring in you know you're Grudens or whoever or whatever. Give me a break. They ain't New York Jets. I'm all about the Jets, and the great thing is all right, yeah, second chance, you get a second chance at it, and think so I've done have him very often. Yeah, well, when it does, it's usually special. And so we'll find out if I get that chance or not. If not, then you know, I hope they have one hell of a guy in place, because I still want to be a fan of the Jets. I still want to be but you know, when I look around, I know nobody's better than me.
Okay, let's do a bonus in or out Rex Ryan, next head coach of the Jets, in or out Todd.
I want him to get it. But I'm gonna say out out Seaton.
You might not remember, but the minute Robert Salo was fired, the first person I mentioned was bringing back Rex Ryan as the Jets head coach. He's the only guy that makes any sense. And as soon and if you remember, I was saying that whatever you want to call daddy, Daddy's ready to come back. I am five times in on Rex Ryan being the next head coach.
Wow, that would be in in in in in, Marvin in or out Rex Ryan next Jets head coach.
I am in in in, oh for sure, Okay, PAULI in or out.
Rex makes a great case. I'm in in mostly on the content of it.
In, I'm in, I'm in. I don't know who wants the job now. He mentioned John Gruden. Well, John's desperate to get back into the NFL. I don't know if they're entertaining that notion and bringing John Gruden back. I don't think he settled his lawsuit with the NFL yet. But yeah, Rex, sure, yeah, I get content there. And you know he said they will listen. I will you know, we will play hard, and you forget he went to the FC title game twice with the Jets. He knows how to, you know, coach a defense there. The problem is going to be who's your quarterback? And you don't want Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback if you're Rex Ryan going in for one year or that first year, No, you don't want that. Yes, Marvin, you.
Took the words out of my mouth. The last time they were any good, Rex Ryan was the head coach.
Yeah, now you had an another weird situation. Daniel Jones, So Rex Ryan wants to go to the Jets. Daniel Jones is saying goodbye to the Giants. Had a press conference and here's Daniel Jones, the now third string quarterback for the Giants, reading a goodbye statement.
There have been some great times, but of course we all wish there have been more of those. I take full responsibility for my part and not bringing more wins. No one wanted to win those win more games worse than me, and I gave everything I had on the field and in my preparation. Of course, this season has been disappointing for all, and of course I wish I could have done more. I'm one hundred percent accountable for my part. I did not play well enough, consistently enough to help the team get the results. The reality of the NFL is it's hard to win games and requires consistent performance from everyone involved. We didn't do that well enough, so the idea to change something happens, and I understand. I love the game, I love being part of a team. I'm excited for the next opportunity and know that there's a lot of good football in front of me, and I'm excited about that.
Okay, how does this come up. Does somebody from PR say, hey, we got a lot of requests. People want to talk to you, Daniel. Third string quarterbacks don't meet with the media. Well, I could read a statement. Sure what PR person greenlit this to say go out there. I mean somebody had to approve it. He just doesn't walk out and have a press conference. I mean, these things are all scheduled. It would have been great if he read this speech off his wristband. Yeah, you know he flipped it up. Oh sorry, wrong wristband that's got plays on it. That remember when I used to play nevermind, Hey really love playing here. This has been a dream come true. Now you know he did fall on the sword and he took the blame, and he'll get you know, probably a Jameis Winston type deal where you get two million dollars, maybe as a backup quarterback. Maybe he's got a chance that he with another team get out of the New York spotlight. And I mean we've seen this where these quarterbacks get a chance, they kind of go through the backup car wash and then they get their chance. And Sam Darnold's done this, Baker Mayfield has done this, Mitch Trubisky did it to a certain degree, Yes, don.
I wish someone would have said, all right, let's take it from the top this time, a little more feeling a little more disappointed and read it.
Do you think he practiced that before he had to have practiced. Did he write that?
I believe he wrote it.
You did just less feeling when you're not just talking to people and you're reading word for word from something you put down in paper. I know you want to get it right, but you got to talk to people, not read to people.
The Hall of Fame committee has passed over Robert Kraft again, so he has to be looking at Jerry Jones going, you got to be kidding me. And Jerry is the most powerful person in the NFL. Helped grow it being.
The owner of the Cowboys.
I get it. I mean he hasn't done anything team wise, but Robert Kraft six Super Bowls, I got it. I think he was considered, you know, one of the favorites for the twenty twenty five class, and he's been passed over by the Hall of Fame. As the contributor committee, they decided to go with a guy who was the owner of the Canton Bulldogs in nineteen eighteen.
Ralph Hay.
Yes, he's the co founder of the National Football League. I would say that's contributions to the game that would surpass six Super Bowls. Just say, but the contributor. They just made this decision a couple of days ago. Robert Kraft is a I think a year older than Jerry Jones. I think he's eighty three. I think Jerry is eighty two.
M dang.
Boy.
I bet he had to be surprised at that. He's had thirteen opportunities for the Hall of Fame. The guy who got in. Ralph Hay has been passed over for the Hall of Fame since nineteen sixty three. Like this is the typic point here. He's like, I don't know what happened, but he's due. The Hall of Fame was founded in nineteen sixty three. He has been passed over every thing a year.
It's like red and shosh Ank redemption. He's up for par all forty three years.
In a row. Not gonna happen, Yes, Fay.
I've read a bunch of articles about Robert Craft and the Hall of Fame because it doesn't make a lot of sense with his his franchise and success which I think that's what you get in for the success of your franchise, maybe philanthropy, don't know, good of the league, But what would be a reason to keep Robert Kraft out? Because clearly the voters are I don't know if words colluding is right, but collectically thinking no, I don't know. I haven't seen anyone would spect it as to a reason.
But this has been going on for over a decade. It's been an aggressive campaign by the Patriots to get Robert Kraft in there. In the last decade, Eddie de Bartelow, former Niners owner Jerry Jones went in. Pat Bolan, the late Broncos owner, inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Dang, yeah, that's that's rough. Let's see from television three people behind the success of Monday Night Football among the twenty five nominees considered, including Howard Cosell and Rune Arliche. How is Howard Cosell not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a contributor? And Rune Arledge he created Monday Night Football? Like those are obvious? Those are obvious?
Dang, all right, yes, Ton, And.
If we believe in likability as a factor, on voting, players, coaches, owners in Robert Craft is generally a decent guy.
He's very charitable.
I know, you get tax breaks when you're a million billionaire and you give money to certain things, but you always hear nice things about all his charitable work and stuff. I'm surprised.
Yeah, he's donated as playing for charitable causes. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know why that he would be passed over or that others would get in before him. But hey, I imagine he'll still get in, but you don't want it to be posthumously at age eighty three. We'll take a break. Brady Quinn will join Big Noon Kickoff in Columbus. He got Ohio State in Indiana. We'll talk some college and pro football with the former Cleveland Browns quarterback.
We'll take a break back after this.

He's Brady Quinn, Fox Sports College Football Analyst, Big Noon Kickoff host, also a co host Two Pros and a Cup of Joe. Former Notre Dame quarterback big noon kickoff just outside the shoe, the undefeated Hoosiers against Ohio State. Pregame airs every Saturday at ten am Eastern on Fox. Before I get to the game, let me ask you about weather. You saw the weather last night? Wait, what are you saying?
I'd need more.
Energy from you for that?
Read about my fighting Irish playing Yankee Stadium. Look, this is the one hundred year anniversary of the first first consensus National Championship, the four horsemen in there digging back the nineteen twenty four.
I need more energy front of you this morning for this matchup.
Damn.
Yeah.
But America is rooting for Army.
Yeah, and I do every single day with the exception of that slotted amount of time all right, where my fight and Irish are playing Army. But every other moment of my life, I'm rooming for Army Navy. The toughest one for me is picking between Army and Navy. But I've gotten to know coach Monkt a little bit better, so I signed more with Army, even though my dad was a Marine.
So okay, when you got the American flag behind you, you're a patriot and you're rooting for Notre Dame.
That all it's takes. It takes an American flight. You must get a Patriot.
Okay. Here comes the history, the tradition, the spectacle, the excitement, the passion, the drama, the fight army Notre Dame.
That's the Dan Patrick. Okay, I grew up with all that excitement that.
I'm going to be watching big noon kickoff and I'm going to be texting you when I feel like you don't have that energy level. So just you better every day super Bowl, Brady, you better bring it on Saturday.
I tried to, man, I tried to. Okay, it's puff's about right.
You got to bring energy, yes, Okay, before I get to the games. Playing in weather like the Browns and the Steelers did last night, you're an Ohio guy, but advantage disadvantage. Help me understand that from a quarterbacking perspective, playing in weather like that, it's always.
About your grip. You know, everything that impacts your grip.
So it could be weather, right or snow in this case where there's a little bit of wetness, or really the cold. I mean the biggest thing about it is when it's cold, you can't feel your extremities as well.
All right, that's obvious.
But where that impacts you the most is your grip on the football and how you feel the ball spinning off your fingertips. And then where that becomes even more impactful is when you have wind, which there was about think fifteen miles per hour up to maybe twenty with some gusts. Then you're not able to spin the ball as well. If you can't spin the ball as well, it's harder to cut through the win, especially in that stadium there in Cleveland where there tends to be a more significant win through the I think east side of the end zone if I remember correct.
So that's where it comes into.
We're you're a little less accurate throwing the football if you're not spinning it quite as well because you can't grip it quite as well. So you see some guys wear a glove. I can never get comfortable wearing a glove. It just it felt like as far as your release point, it changes a little bit because it's grippier, so so you're gonna be releasing it holding onto the football a little more than you're used to. So unless you practice it and get comfortable with it, it's hard to pull one on than take it off and try to throw just it feels weird on your hand.
I'll I'll ask you the same question I answer Ros Tucker. I'll give you the first pick of any defensive player in the NFL.
I mean, it's hard not to pick Miles Garrett. I think last night as an example of that of the last year, I think TJ wanted a pretty good argument to the about winning defensive player of the Year. But Miles Garrett, to me is the scariest human being in the NFL that is rushing off of the edge.
And I think anyone who's like met him in person or seen.
Him, he's an absolute a donis So I would probably say right now, if you had to pick amongst all the defensive players, it probably.
Was Aaron Donald. I'd now say, right now it's Miles Garrett.
But is Miles Garrett treated differently?
Is he blocked differently than the other guys, Because it sounded like what he was saying is, hey, you know they game plan for me, but it doesn't matter.
I'm still number one.
I don't know if TJ Wat or Micaeh Parsions are treated with the same respect as Miles Garrett.
I would say, last night, when you're watching it, you see t J. Watt treated with very similar respect. I mean there's clearly a you know, a directive out to say, wherever he's at, make sure you've just got two guys on him. We want to try to put four hands on him at all time. So I felt like last night was an example of t J. Watt getting some of that Miles Garrett treatment. But there's some truth to that. I mean, there's more team I think there's some teams here look at those matchups so front, and they might feel okay.
About who that tackle was having to win that one on one battle.
I mean, look, when we had Joe Thomas, you know, we always felt comfortable with whoever was going up against Joe because he was that good of a player, so we could kind of focus on some of the other mismatches we had up front. But it's very rare happy a guy like Joe Thomas who's protecting your left side or your blind side.
So it all depends. I honestly think when I watch film with both those guys, I.
Think it's pretty equal as far as the amount of attentionion that JJ Watt.
Excuse me, TJ.
Watt and Miles Garrett gets the difference for a guy like Micah Parsons is one that you can.
Move them around. It makes that job so much more difficult.
So inherently they're not going to get the same treatment because you're not going to play Miles Garrett off the ball like at least if you do, it's the dumbest thing in the world a defensive coordinator could do. I think every single time I see a defensive coordinator drop like a TJ. Watt or or a Miles Garrett or whoever your timeout off of the edge into coverage, I'm like, thank God, Like, yeah, one of the best edge rushers trying to be in pass coverage, Like yeah, of course, Like give our offensive line, give us a little bit of a breakup front.
Thank you for that.
Help me understand this time of the year where you have quarterbacking quarterbacks who are flipping so you you just had Bryce Underwood, a Michigan kid, was going to LSU.
Now he's going back to Michigan.
You have the situation with USC with Julian Lewis they lose him to Colorado. Does this just come down to money now?
Pretty much?
I mean, for panso ourselves, which, by the way, I'm not sure what ever really was different.
Open about it now just above board.
Now it's above board, right, it's it's patriotic.
Out in America.
It's America, that's right.
Capitalism, No, I think that's part of what it is now, I mean, or the majority of what it is.
I also think there.
Is something to do with kind of the trends of where those teams are the season. I mean, you look at Colorado, Clearly they're sending the favorites are in the Big twelve, but they you know, went out they're going to win the Big Twelve, They're going to be in the playoff, you know, as opposed to Southern cal that's not the case. And it feels like they don't know where that program's at right now. It's like if the Buyle wasn't as big for Lincoln Riley, would he still be the head coach? Probably not based on the performance what we've seen so far. So I think that plays a factor to into it. Whereas you look at Shador Sanders, who's going to be moving on to the NFL for a young man like Juju Lewis, He's like, I'm going to day one and starting, and I know Coach Prime's going to bring guys in just around me with talent. He did that with Shador, He's going to do that with Juju Lewis. For Bryce Underwood, it's probably more about opportunity. You know, this is a team that just won the national championship a year ago, and somehow, some way over that long list of quarterbacks.
Now in the roster, they don't have a guy who can play at the level that JJ McCarthy did.
And if you're not playing at that high of a level like JJ McCarthy did, you're not competing for a national championship. So it's easier to then pitch that to a guy who can come in and be your savior.
Look at the excitement for the Mission fan base. So yes, it's money, but.
There's also those factors too that I think play a part in. You know, the opportunity to play, and also right away probably do even get paid more because once he goes there, once he shows Zod he's capable of Bryce Ander was gonna make even more money.
I'm trying to understand this.
Dion Sanders, maybe he could be a package deal with Shador Sanders well, what you're saying is you have to have a team get Shadoor Sanders and then fire their coach. If you're like it, it doesn't make any Shador Sanders is going to be a high draft pick. How are you getting Unless it's the Raiders or the Giant. I don't know if the Giants would ever do something like that, like or hey, he could coach the Cowboy Like I'm trying to figure this out of is there a scenario where Dion would coach his son in the NFL?
I don't know.
I mean, the Raiders are the one that make the most like logistical sense from that standpoint, because you really would have to hire Dion first and the draft shou Orc is the timing of all of it. But you first have to be in a position. So that's where it gets complicated and tricky. And unless you're a team that's at the top of the draft board, it's gonna be really hard to pull that all off.
So Las Vegas would be the only team that I think could make some sense in that regard.
And look, I mean, I think coach Prime has been pretty open about where he's at and when in stan Colorado and build this thing. And I know there's a portion of it where you have to say that too, because this is that time of year where you're recruiting and you're trying to build up this team and you don't know what the future holds, So you have to say all those things until your percent it with a different opportunity. Because I think the most fascinating thing about you know, coach Prime and moving forward is like the question of well it's worth so far where he's coached his sons moving all the way up and so it's really it'd be incredible to think that if you did have the opportunity.
I mean, no one would blame coach prom.
I think if you did have the opportunity to take that opportunity to go coach a son in the NFL, the craziest thing we've ever seen. And I think if you look at his track record, he's always been able to kind of build up these programs from his time coach in high school to you know, smaller college football now to a power for program. So I think you got to give him the benefit of the doubt because of his track record, but also just the unique story that that is. I mean, we've been applauding for the Lakers and Lebron James and Brownie in that old situation. This is like taking that up aach too to one of the more iconic brands.
If it was the Raiders.
In this scenario, he's Brady Quinn.
Big Noon Kickoff Crew will be set up just outside the shoe in Columbus.
It'll be Indiana.
Ohio State pregame airs every Saturday at ten am Eastern, non Fox.
How did you in there for a game?
Like?
When can we see it and bring in person? Bring the boys.
We're a big deal. We're a big deal.
We have the block Keys playing this week. I mean, we've got a lot of stuff going on. I think you'd enjoy it.
Are they Ohio guys?
They are Ohio guys.
And they like bowling Green or I don't know where they're from for some reason, like Toledo or Akron.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you like calling people Ohio guys? I feel like there's a lot of that going on.
You know, I'm an Ohio guy, but I don't I mean, I don't go, yeah, you're an Ohio guy. I mean I'm from I'm from Cincinnati, so it's a little higher end than the other places in OHU, Like just so it didn't.
Get the nickname the Nasty Natty for any specific reason.
It's just uh, hello me, there you go? Yeah yeah, where was I? Okay? How does Indiana win this game?
So with these matchups to me are all about game flow, and I think when I've been in Columbus at the Shoe for a game where teams have gone in won, it's happened in a couple of different ways. When we saw Oregon do it a few years back, it was really about kind of getting on top staying on top. Like they immediately almost took the crowd out of the game, and that played to be one of the loudest venues. It probably doesn't get credit for how loud it is, but that's one of the ways. Is like going in right away, not being like overcome with emotion or not, you know, reading into the crowd, having a bunch of pre snap penalties, executing you know, going right down the field, march down the field, scoring and that shuts a lot of people up.
That's one way.
I also, I mean I think you have to win the trenches. I mean, if you look at the Achilles to Obhigo states their offensive line. If you look at the way Michigan's beat in the past three years, it's been the old line D line, and that winning, that physicality, that matchup. It seems like that's always a question about a Ryan Day football team. Now, look, I think this team is as physical and as good upfront on defense as they've been. Now offense, they've had a bunch of different injuries, and you've got Carson Hint's been going back to center, and Sarah Bell going to left guard, and Dona Jackson left guard going left tackle.
So there's a lot of musical chairs there. But if they control both.
Offense defensive line, I think their skill position players are good enough to be able to make enough big plays and run the football well enough to keep this thing tight. And so if they keep the crowd out of it, control line of scrimmage, and then just make enough plays there in that fourth quarter, I think that's how they win. I don't see a scenario where Indiana blows out Ohio State. I see it a more where Ohio Stake can blow out Indiana. But I do see a scenario where it's a tight game down the end and Chris Rourke makes enough little backshoulder fades passes, they can make something happen there to get the win.
Indiana ten point underdog, Army fourteen point underdog, more likely to pull off the win Army Notre Dame neutral field or Indiana at Ohio's take.
Oh, Indiana, there's no shot for Army. I'm sorry. Notre Dame's got one of the best defense in the country. There's a skill mismatch, a significant one at best. And I also think you know, people always talking about like Indiana's lack of trying to schedule, look at Armies. So and you can maybe make that case two about Notre Dames this year with the whites turned out, But they've responded since the lost in Northern Illinois and they continue to put a beat down teams. So I don't think this thing will even be close. And I think the prep to of playing the Naval Academy early helps a little bit too, with what's seeing a lot of similar schemes, you know, being disapoint with your eyes this one defense. So I think it's it's going to be a home run if you if you will, and Yankee standing in for the.
Finalcial, all I see what you did. Yeah, a little baseball terminology there. You you get a buzz cut if Army wins this game.
Oh no, all right, I will bet that. I feel so confident about.
Oh wow, wow, and you've got good moss. I don't know you're gonna wow.
Thank you.
That'd breaks some hearts, you know, if you got your hair cut.
There, Hey, if it has to happen, it has to happen. Yeah, I'm got this for my fighting hours. That's how confident I am.
Great to talk to you and have fun our people like did they get over how long did it take them to get over the fact that you didn't play at Ohio State but you're from Columbus?
I mean I almost went to Michigan and oh my god, that's usually the toughest.
Yeah, you told me the Beau Schembeckler recruiting story.
Well, I had a guy on a play recently, like they were having an issue with like one of my bags and this whole thing.
The guy goes, well, it's because he didn't play at Ohio State and that yeah, I almost look at the same thing.
I go, yeah, have the last three year has been power Like That's the thing about it is Yeah.
The truth of the matter is, you know, it just it was a great place. I loved Ohio State.
It just wasn't the right fit for me, you know, I had that been you know, nowadays, who knows if my decision would have been any different.
But the reality is, you do get that a lot.
But I'm also like, yeah, people dont understand I was like that close to going to Michigan too.
Well.
Also, back then was Ohio State a passing team. I mean they become wide receiver you but like nowadays or the last few years, you're like, uh, hell yes, these weapons.
And that was one of the biggest reasons why when I looked at what at that time, I was obviously a huge you know, I was a big Tom Brady fan, and he had come from Michigan, and that was kind of their pitch, more of a pro style offense. Notre Dame of the time had had a West Coast offense from Danny Green system with Ty Willingham as head coach, So that was all very appealing to me.
Whereas when I watched the Hot State win the national championship that.
Year, I think Craig Crenzel through the football like fifteen sixteen times. So it was kind of hard watching that biggest moment to think, well, if I'm the guy, I'm probably gonna be handing it off more often than not, which it played a little bit of a factor too.
So say it with excitement, Brady Quinn and the Big Neon Kickoff Crew. Just outside the shoe in Columbus, It's Indiana Ohio State pregame show every Saturday, ten am Eastern. I fine, Oh god, I'm exhausted. Ye have fun? Oh well, play nice, Brady Quinn. All right, we'll take a break. Phone calls coming up after this.
Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan Patrick Show. We Date You Said, nine am Eastern, six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio w APP.
Looking at some of the matchups this weekend, We'll start with Indiana and Ohio State. That's a big margin. That's ten Colorado against Kansas, Colorado favored by three BYU Arizona State. Suddenly, very interesting, b Why you getting three armies getting fourteen against Notre Dame Alabama? You would think normally Alabama o'clohma would be like, yeah, all right, you don't get something like that in November. Now you get it. And if you're Oklaoma, you don't want that. Alabama favored by thirteen and a half there, and then you have the games this weekend, the Lions and the Colts. Is that that game's at Indy Like that's a weird game.
I don't know why. I mean the Lions should win. They're favored by seven and a half. I don't know. It's one of those weird games.
Chiefs ten and a half against Panthers. Uh Buccaneers against the Tommy Salami Giants. Cowboys are getting ten and a half against the Commanders. Niners. Packers is really good. Niners are getting three against Green Bay Vikings Bears. Vikings only favored by three and a half. And then you got the Eagles in the Rams. The Eagles are favored by two and a half. Slide into the weekend with our good friends at King Sawaian Slider Sunday. Make every Sunday a Slider Sunday, and there's no wrong way to do it. We'll have the best week in sports. In fact, let's go round the room. Then we'll get some phone calls in here. Who had the best week in sports?
Todd, I'm gonna give it to the Cleveland Browns last night.
They're two to eight.
They had nothing to play for, They're on national TV, it's a standalone game. We're all checking out the fun and the snow leading up to the holiday, and they made a nice little statement taking down an eight and two team or top their division.
Yes, it's been a bad year, but a good week. And that's you know the name bears that out best week in sports? Setan who had the best week in sports?
In your opinion?
Uh?
Yeah, could be Sean Payton. Sean Sean Payton's having a good run of weeks. Okay, that's a fella who has found this quarterback, straightened the ship a bit and maybe are right into the ship, exactly right the ship. But yes, he's righted the shrimp, the shrimp. He's writing the shrimp, and I think he's he was under a lot of fire for a while.
And no longer is Marvin who had the best week in sports?
The Detroit Lions after smacking the Jaguars the way they did fifty two to six. That doesn't happened in the NFL. So I think they had a great week.
I think they've had a lot of great weeks, PAULI best week in sports.
I'll go Dion Sanders, the baseless rumors about him considering coaching in the NFL. Them considering him are going to pay him handsomely with his raise he will get at Colorado. They're eight and two, they're seventeen. They have a path to the playoffs in just year or two. Not a lot of people saw this six eight weeks ago.
I'm going to give best week in sports to show Heyo Tani because if I would have said at the beginning of the year having an arm procedure, not surgery, I guess, but procedure, he's not going to pitch, and he's going to be a unanimous MVP first year in the National League, I'd say, and you win the World Series. Show Heyo Tani winning the MVP yesterday unanimous. Say that's a pretty damn good week. Why do you have to cuse I don't know? I apologize?
Uh.
Brian in Iowa? Hey Brian, what's on your mind today?
Hey DP, Happy Friday?
Thank you, Brian.
First time long time six foot.
On a body by Trager two.
Forty Okay, all right, I'm going a body.
By Trager T shirt question Mark M.
Great news about your trip of the Hawkeye Estate in twenty five. Yeah, in the eastern side.
You can book the house at the Field of Dreams for an evening.
Says it comfortably accommodates seven guests. Okay, quickly, I believe it will be when not if you make a hole in one on number seven at Pebble Beach on your simulator, so then you still fire your cameraman weeks?
Well, no, because I've had surgery on my shoulder so I've been able to swing the club. I've had a hole in one on the part three seventh at Pebble Beach, and I will not fire Weeks anymore. My cameraman is too valuable. He will be vying for the most valuable back room guy along with Mario. It might be a two man race right now. I'm not going to say there like the finalist, but there is some pretty strong campaigns being post by those two. Let me see Bill in Louisiana. Hi, Bill, what's on your mind?
Hey Dan?
This is very exciting first time intermittent long time five seven and a half in a slightly creepy one seventy creepy So did you hear Jameis Winston has a new nickname after last night's win.
I did not hear that bill. What is it?
Snow crab legs?
Okay, all right, we'll call back there to the Florida State Days.
Nailed it, Yeah, got him, nailed it. Zach In des Moines, Hi, Zach, what's on your mind?
Good morning fellas.
How are you great?
I wanted to bring up Dion Sanders.
Now.
I want to preface this that I do think I believe him that he's going to stay. But if I was a recruit, I would think a kickstand is maybe the weakest way to say you're staying somewhere. I don't know if you guys remember seeing your kids' bikes with their kickstand down, But he could have said like, I'm routted here, I'm firmly entrenched, I'm anchored down. But a kickstand to me just seems like maybe the weakest way.
Well, Zach, I think that's slang for Dion that it means something different than you know, hey, my bike and my kickstand. I'm not going anywhere. I mean, I'm fine with it. It doesn't mean anything. He could have his kicks stand down and he could end up leaving like there's no guarantee here. Hey, you said you had your kickstand down, yep, and then I kicked it back up and I'm leaving.
Yes, Martin for.
Julian Lewis the kid that just transferred. But the kid that just flipped from USC to Colorado. Do you think his parents and him were like, Hey, are you staying? Are you sure you're staying? Do you think they have to be a part of the deal.
Yeah, but it doesn't matter. It's not a believe. I told you the story that there was a recruit who was his family was speaking to Butcher Davis when he was at Miami and I was told it was a Sunday and they were talking to him about committing to Miami.
I'm not going to the NFL.
And then I believe on that Monday he left to go to the Cleveland Browns. There's no loyalty. It's every man woman for themselves.
It just is.
I know, we don't like it. We want loyalty. Coaches demand loyalty, but they're not loyal. Delon could leave and then he would, you know, take some heat for a little while and then we'd move on and be like Les Miles was leaving every year and felt like, I don't know, Uh wait, you just got a ride.
I don't know.
Arkansas is interested in Okay, at some point you just say just go. But is Deon going to be there next year? I think the signing he's got his quarterback that was a big deal yesterday certainly was in my eyes. But if he goes, he goes content for US Army head coach Jeff Monkin. They've got Notre Dame. You just heard Brady Quinn saying, guarantees it, he'll get his head shaved if Notre Dame loses that game. Final hour in this Meet Friday Dan and the Dan Nuts Stan Patrick Show,
