Hour 2 –Jerry Jones Got It Done, Jimmy Fallon

Published Sep 11, 2024, 4:29 PM

Dan reacts to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expecting a Super Bowl after opening his pocketbook to sign CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott. And Former Saturday Night Live cast member and late night television host, Jimmy Fallon stops by to talk about his time at SNL and his Jet’s fanhood.

You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio Hour.

Two on this Wednesday, Dan and the Dana's Dan Patrick's Show at first hour breezed by spent a lot of time talking about Deshaun Watson's contract situation and the reason why this is brought up. Mike Florio summarized this, did Deshaun Watson disclose a civil lawsuit that happened back in twenty twenty to the Cleveland Browns?

And if the answer is yes, then the issue is over.

If he did not disclose this civil lawsuit that's been refiled and ends up being suspended for it, the Browns could escape the final two years of a five year contract. I'm not talking about the allegations. You can find those on your own. I'm covering the sports part of this, and that is the Cleveland Browns. Do they have buyer's remorse? And maybe this is a non starter for the Cleveland Browns that they say, this is our quarterback. You didn't have any problems with these allegations when you signed him.

But if he kept I don't know.

Why you would keep on private after all the other ones, unless he didn't realize it was coming. But if you're refiling this. I don't know if it was public record, but it still seems like there's a little bit here. I don't know if there's a lot there, but it feels like there's enough there that, you know, in the Cleveland Browns and the NFL have to look at this. He's not going to be on the Commissioner's exempt list, but could he be suspended, you know, pending further investigation here? Do the Cleveland Browns want to get out from underneath this contract? That would be the question. And if Deshaun Watson didn't disclose this, then the language would point towards the Cleveland Browns if they wanted to do this. But did Deshaun Watson want to keep this quiet? Because if you look at the allegations, once again, they're very ugly all of the things that he's accused of. But the Cleveland Browns were fine with bringing him in. I mean, bottom line, they knew it, They knew the person they were bringing in, and now do they want to get out from underneath this stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the program. Jimmy Fallon, popular late night host is going to join us coming up a little bit. Mike Gollick a little bit later on as well. Christian McCaffrey is iffy for Week two. With most teams, there would be a panic that sets in, like we don't have our best player for the Niners. Okay, hey, you get healthy. It's a long season. We want to make sure you're there at the end. Panthers lose their best player, Derek Brown and defensive lineman Justin Fields will start for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Denver. This was supposed to be Russ Is coming back, and this was one of the more expensive tickets. Whole question from our one. By the way, we came up with a new segment called Power and Dower rankings, so the highs and lows in sports. And then we found out at the end of last Hour we had been pronouncing Dour incorrectly, at least possibility the possibility of that. But then are we mispronouncing hour if we're mispronouncing dour. But we had a caller who said that it's not Dour, it's door like doordr. We have an investigation going on right now that we'll get to here in a moment. Good morning, if you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app and our radio affiliates around the country. iHeartRadio, Fox Sports Radio eight seven seven to three DP. Show operator Tyler is sitting by to take your phone calls here, okay, Paul, he's done a deep dive oh yeah, during the commercial break on the pronunciation of dower.

Born for this assignment.

First of all, Dan, all right, here is the Cambridge Dictionary which you can get the pronunciation and definition of a word.

Are you ready, Well, wait.

A minute, Cambridge we're talking about Great Britain.

Well, yes, but they have both the UK and US pronunciation of what we would say dower.

Here we god dure.

Okay, that door like tour or like doors if I'm going to be drinking, right, And so that's because they say do. Yeah, So that's how we would say dower. They say duor this duor yeah. I got a factor in the accent here. Yeah, that's a that's a that they say.

Americans say door or should be saying dor. I did a deep dive on this and I found from Webster's Dictionary. They have some background on it. Over the The term has been used since the fifteen hundreds. The American Heritage Dictionary says classically, in England and other places, it was door, and Americans have eventually made it dour dour, and they say it could be pronounced either way in America. Outside of America, it's pronounced. In America, it's now morphed into dowur. But the official pronunciation, historical pronunciation is.

How do they say sour?

But I don't know if they do that.

Yeah, I don't think that they say sour, okay, but do they say door the same way they say dower? So it's door and door.

There's a little uha like a door. Okay, you throw in there and it changes.

The answer is no, we're not going to take the Cambridge edition of this.

It's showing up Thursday night tua or.

No, it would be too. By the way, it's I think it's Canadian. That's a great Thursday night game. Dolphins Bills standalone game. Everybody's gonna have an opinion. Josh Allen, Oh, MVP year to uh tyreek h it's gonna be awesome. Mike McDaniel's new haircut. I mean, there's so many things they're going to be talked about on Thursday night.

Yes, Todd, we've been over doer for a big Thursday night. Okay, all right, all back.

So our dour rankings and our sour rankings are our sour rankings and our power rankings. We're trying, we're work shopping this. But that's a big Thursday night game. That's spicy. That's nice. By the way, Jerry Jones is a weekly appearance on his radio show, was talking about the contract negotiations he had with Ceedee Lamb and Dak Prescott and kind of pointed the finger at them for dragging this out.

When you have a significant decision or you have a significant event in your life, when it gets in the crosshairs where the parties are in agreement, they're on the same step, they're in the same room, and you see that time to do that. If your goal is to get a deal done, nile it right there. Do not footle. And it started happening for us. But I've never seen anybody get their feelings hurt enough that the money couldn't sure.

Okay, fair point.

I still don't know what he's saying about getting a deal done. He could have gotten a deal done, I think with Cede Lamb a while ago, and he could have gotten a deal done with Dak Prescott, but he was saying they were the ones that were dragging this out.

Their agents were Yeah, seen.

Michaeh Parsons online one, Yeah, all right, Hey, what do you say, Let's get this done right now?

Yeah, that's what's going to cost you. The Dak's four year, two hundred and forty million dollar deal makes him the highest paid quarterback in the league. So the sixty million dollars a year is more than Joe Burrow, Jordan Love, and Trevor Lawrence. They all make fifty five million. Did you need to go to sixty for Dak if the other ones were right around fifty five ce d Lamb is the second highest paid wide. Okay, could you have gotten him maybe for a little less. We see these, you know gms, the salary camps where you're trying to squeeze somebody in hold on to somebody and it comes down to maybe like a million dollars or two million dollars. Well, these are the situations where you go, could we have done this sooner? Could we have done this for less money? That's usually my question with this. Jerry got it done. Jerry also says when we have the highest paid players, we win super Bowls. He said, Now I'll do my Jerry Jones. I will say this anytime that we've ever made players the highest paid player, key players such as Troy Aikman, highest paid player in the game, we've.

Won super Bowls.

It's a shot.

Yeah, yes, Mart.

Didn't they have to wait until they went oh and to for Emmy Smith to come back so we can sign his contract?

Uh?

Why are you not nitpicking here? I mean Jerry was on a roll here?

Oh was he? Yeah? Of course, been a thirty year old. Yeah, no super Bowl?

Yeah?

Uh?

Luke and Charlotte, Hi, Luke, what's on your mind today?

Okay? Hey, how you guys doing?

Turn down your radio, Luke, Sorry about that?

How you doing?

Okay?

I was just thinking, Uh, I was listening to your point about Justin Field when I was watching the Steelers game. I forget who the play by play guy was, but he made the point of, you know, the defense got it done and Field just didn't make any mistakes. And it's kind of ironic because it was like, isn't that what Russ was supposed to be like? And now we're saying, oh, Fields can start. And it's just kind of interesting how they totally swapped roles because before the season you would have not have said at all that Stield would be the guy that would just be safe, you know, not making any mistakes.

Well, Russ camp play, so he has to play.

And you know, this is a whole different philosophy in Pittsburgh than it was in Chicago. For Justin Fields, he could make mistakes in Chicago because he was forced to make plays. Pittsburgh, you don't have to force it as much, and I think that's the big difference. Also, he gets first team reps all week long. Now he knows he's going to be the starter, and maybe you can create some things. You can get him out in space because he's going to be able to make some plays that Russ can't. But bottom line is Russ can't play right now, and you're playing Denver. In Denver, you can win, can win that game two and zero. Bengals lost their opener. They got Kansas City coming up. I mean this is when you know, we always look at the end of the season, when we look at somebody's schedule or what their record's going to be. Winning these games, they count the same as those at the end, and if you can pile up a couple of wins that maybe surprise some folks. There's going to be moments later in the season where you're going to lose a game or two that you should win. Let me see Tommy and Madison. Hi Tommy, what's on your mind today?

Hey, guys, six foot a hard to builds. Don't feel bad about mispronouncing the word dowry or whatever that word. Cleveland has been mispronouncing quality quarterback also from the fifteen hundred, So the're in the same boat as you are. Question when it comes to the overreaction, are there going to be losses in Week two and three that we can really look back on and say, boy, that wasn't our team.

Well, okay, the season starts. Everybody has an idea of what their teams are going to be. Like, if you're a Patriot fan, you beat Cincinnati and Cincinnati, you're going to overreact and go, you know what, maybe we're not that bad. Or if you're a Giants fan, you're not going to overreact and say, oh, we're going to be worse than I thought we were going to. Like, there's certain teams that I think you can't overreact. Other teams that you can, Like Carolina looking bad, You're not overreacting and going we're going to be terrible again. Now you might overreact. If you're a Saints fan, you go, okay, all right, now they're sleeping on us here Atlanta's offense, you're going to overreact to that. I'm not going to not yet, but it feels like. That's why I always say, when you see what happens week one, what is sustainable one way or another? Is that team going to be like that the rest of the season. That's what you're trying to figure out. Now, how long does that take? Usually it's a month using four games, pretty good sample size of this is who we are, this is what we're going to be like, And you can also handicap the division that you're in. But it's just fun to overreact after week one. I mean, we do it, we say we're going to do it. There's no apologies for overreacting, and we'll do it again next week. If Cincinnati beats Kansas City and Kansas City, what are we going to say? It's going to be about the Chiefs, Its going to be about the Bengals. Well, it'll probably be about the Bengals who lose to the Patriots and then go and beat Kansas City Buffalo against the Dolphins. What if the Dolphins look great or what if the Dolphins don't look great against the fellow divisional opponent and Josh Allen looks awesome and then all of a sudden, Josh Allen MVP talk.

This is what we do. It's storyline.

The way the NFL is set up, you can have a game and then five days, six days to talk about that game, and then the next game. It's not like basketball, it's not like baseball, it's not like hockey. You can have a storyline or two that's beaten to death. But that's what we do. We're grabbing this and we're gonna hold on until it's like a relay race. You pass the baton to Now week two, like tomorrow, Week two starts. We don't think about talk about week one. Now it's week two. Yes, marmon, Yeah, what if the Bears beat the Texans? Huge overreaction, Well, it might be from the standpoint of the Texans losing at home and that's a Sunday night game. Now here's another thing. The Texans always play games, used to play games at one o'clock. The Bears would play games at one o'clock because nobody wanted to see them, even the Texans. When they get in the playoffs, if they could have started it earlier on a Saturday morning, they probably would have to get rid of that game. What time's that Texans playoff game? I think it's like eight am. Wait, they are in London. No, no, no, we're just trying.

To get that out of the way.

But if you've got a standalone game on Sunday night against the Bears, Caleb Williams coming to town and c. J. Stroud is going to tell him, this is how you play quarterback, this is how I did it as a rookie. But all of a sudden, if the Bears win, now, all of a sudden, that it might say more about the Texans than the Bears. The Bears should be good. The Texans. You got people thinking they're going to the Super Bowl. Nobody's saying that about the Bears. All right, Well, take a break. More phone calls coming up. Jimmy Fallon's gonna join us, coming u up a little bit. Todd's been working on having Jimmy. Come on, he's got a golf match coming up with DJ Khalin.

Who knew the one? Is that what he's famous for?

Saying?

Another one? Like another hit?

He's created another hit?

DJ Okay?

Or is it Jimmy Follon that says another one?

I'm joking, Thank you to h So I'll talk to Jimmy.

He was joking.

Todd was joking.

Jimmy doesn't say it.

Uh, maybe you should have gotten pit Bull with dj C. Yeah, that's a lot of hits right there, and then throw in one other one other artist and you have their your force him there.

Who else would you throw in there?

DJ?

Colin, Pitbull, Jimmy Fallon Energy in that room and then Marvin, you got another one you're gonna throw in there? Who would fit in with DJ and Pitbull, Paul energy wise McAfee, No, no, no, no, we're talking artists.

Artists, yes, artists.

What about Usher?

No, he's too cool for school? Yeah yeah yeah, I mean the ladies would love that. But no, how about gotta give him some thought? Yeah yeah, yeah.

I would say John Mayer, but he's too bothers be good.

No, no, they have to fit in with pit Bull and DJ Collin, who have a song.

Together, by the way, at least one DJ Khala Thean the pit Bull okay, and another one another.

One Post Malone.

Oh, I'd like to see that okay Post Yeah, I just listened to him with Chris Stapleton. I think it's California drinking something. But yeah, his country song country album there. All right, let me take a break. Uh, let's see seventeen after the arm blah blah blah back after this. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Jimmy Fallon, host of The Tonight Show. Look, who's turning fifty years of age? How is that possible? You're kind of are you taking whatever Paul Rudd is taking or Jason Bateman.

Yeah, now I'm starting to feel it, Bud, it's happening.

It's fifties coming, okay, And you know, you get to be fifty, you start playing a little more golf. Maybe you're not doing as much work. You maybe want to slow down a little bit. Now you're out there, you know. With this grudge match with DJ Collin, how did this come about?

I just thought I followed Dj khaled on all the socials and the Instagrams and stuff, and so I'm looking at he keeps posting these photos of him playing golf, and he looked like he'd be fun to play with. He also looked like someone I could beat.

I'm not that good.

Yeah, how can you play?

I mean, I'm East Coast, I'd say probably. I'm not kidding five to ten times a year. It looks like he plays a whole lot more than that. Jimmy, Yeah, I think he lives on a golf course.

Do you think about putting money up other than somebody gets a nice cardigan?

Like make it interesting?

Where As Tiger Woods once said to me when I said I'd like to play in golf, what are we playing for?

He said, whatever makes you nervous?

Oh oh my god.

Can I tell you though, how nervous I actually did get Because so it's obviously I'm doing this to be fun and to make a funny thing. But we had a real PJ official it's we play four holes. We're at in Lake Tahoe, so we're after the We had the cameras stay after the American Century Championship. We asked NBC to do as a favor. This whole thing came about in like two weeks. But you get you get up to the seventeenth holes, a par three, and there's five thousand people screaming, and then when you're about to swing, they're quiet, And it's the most nerve wracking thing I've ever done in my life. I mean, I'm a comedian, I don't do that. I felt like an athlete. I'm like, oh my gosh, this is the pressure man. And so when you see the first shot. It's it's it's I don't want to spoiler it, but it's something so ridiculous. It feels like something you see in a movie.

Well, like as a comedian, the last thing you want to hear is silence, Like you're.

Completely all was running around trying to hype everyone up. You know, it was funny we were talking to I sent DJ Khala a text and I said, hey, dude, you just look like it'd be fun to play with. Maybe we could. I could challenge you on the show and we'll do something. And he goes, yeah, maybe i'd be done with I just gotta check my schedule. And then I just challenged him on the show for real, and I said, the winner will get instead of a green blazer like the Master's blazer, gets a red cardigan sweater and we really hype it up and that'll be the that'll be the gift that the winner gets. So I challenged him on the show live and the next day he happened to be in New York and he came on the show and accepted. And then we called him and seeing me like how can we do this, and they're like, you can't, you can't. Just era an eighteen home match. Can you play?

I go?

Not really, I mean i'd say I'm double bogie golf. You know, I don't know if you want to? He goes, No one wants to watch that for five hours. It's boring, so I go. So let's think of another way to do it. So it's four holes. There's a it's a breakfast ball. It's actually fascinating television. I loved it. Is there drinking involved? Not for me, there wasn't, but for that crowd in Tahoe. Oh yeah, Oh my goodness, dude. I was like Dan, I was like, yeah, I get to get out of here, dude. It was really maybe I would say five to ten thousand people, I'll go nuts.

You can see what coming up Friday. So this Friday, it'll be eleven thirty five Eastern. So normally when you watch the Tonight Show with Jimmy, you'll be able to see the four hole.

Now I think, I think if you're a sports bar, you should have a full on raging party this Friday night at your bar. And if you wear a Cardigan into the bar, you get a drink special, get one from your grandma, get whatever you can get at Cardigan sweater, go in and go Yeah. Jimmy said that there'll be a drink special tonight if I wore a cardigan. It's because it's when you're going to see a live, an unaired sporting event at you know, Friday night. This Friday, at eleven thirty at night, it's perfect bar time.

Who's easier to interview? If I said musicians, actors, athletes.

I would say athletes number three, definitely. I'd say I'd say probably actors, actors number one, then musicians than athletes. I feel like athletes are tougher because they've trained their whole life to be an athlete, not really talk. You know, it's not a gift that they trained for, so it's it's kind of they have great stories, but they're not really media trained.

You know.

Where actors are and musicians. I think my favorite part is comedians, just because that's where I got my start and I get to goof off with all those guys like Will Ferrell. I can send him an idea, he won't even read it and they'll just say, yes, I go, No, you should read it first. Will. He's like, no, I trust you, I go, I have you dressed this little Debbie. He's like, yeah, no, I love it, but we'll figure it out, you know. But I'm fascinated by all of them. You know, I'm interested in everybody I have. I once said Drew Brees on the show, and he was great, and we did a game where we're throwing footballs and breaking plates. Okay, very high quality television. And he was playing against Taylor Loudner, who was a great actor in all the Twilight movies. And so I picked up a plate and I threw it up and Drew Brees threw it and he missed. And then I threw a plate up and Taylor Loatner hit one. So now it's one nothing. Taylor Loatner second one. I throw up. Taylor Loutner hits his second plate. If he hits one more, he wins. All of a sudden, Drew Brees stops having fun. He goes into this, he goes into this mode. Laser red, laser eyes came out of his He was like jumping up and down and it was like not fun anymore. And he was throwing. Before I let go of the plate, it was disintegrating in my hand. He was like, I'm not losing to this actor.

Well, I experienced that firsthand in Tahoe, of all places. I'm playing golf with him in the Century Tournament. I'd made back to back birdies.

I'm on the.

Fringe of the green with a chance for three in a row. He walks by me as I'm getting ready to putt and he says, I can't believe that you could possibly have three birdies in.

A row, like with such disdain for me.

We got done with the round, Jimmy and Ray was so upset with his round. He parred the par five last hole and he walked off the green. He didn't shake my hand or Ben Roethlisberger's hand. He was so upset. And I see him the next day and I'm like, oh my god. The last guy I want to run into is Drew Brees. And I'm on the range and my caddie goes here.

He comes.

I go, oh my god. He walks by and he goes, hey, Dan, how you doing. I go good. It doesn't even say anything about yesterday. Yeah, and no he got he did that whole locked in laser focused, didn't even shakes Ben Rosberger's These.

Athletes don't like to lose. I remember beating Tiger Woods at a video game of his own game, and he who cares. I mean, it's a video game, so clearly you're Tiger Woods. He got so mad and I go, hey, Tiger, you know, if you hold it was a Nintendo Wii. I said, if you hold the button down and shake it, it gives you backspin. He goes, don't tell me how to play my.

Game, like it's his whole thing's a joke.

What are you doing? But when you see this thing Friday night, it is so it's so silly, but it's funny, but it's real. We have an official, a PGA official, so it's all by the rules. It starts raining, the thunder and lightning, it gets. It's honestly the most everything that could happen happened. I couldn't have written it better. And he's a great guy to play with.

Are you still a Judgeman? Yeah?

I am. You know, it's kind of that thing where you just kind of almost I don't know, it's not giving up, it's just you go, there's other things in life I can do. I can do others I can I can water color, paint, I can do anything I could do. I just don't Why why do it to yourself? And then I'll find myself rooting for the Giants too, just because they're New Yorkers and they come on the show all the time, and straight hand will get mad if I don't so. But yeah, you know, I thought, for a second, I think a lot of Jets fans for a second, go, this.

Could be we do it every year.

I know, why would why would we even say that to each other?

Why would we say this could be? Don't say it?

This course is not the year.

If you could only watch one of your Saturday Night live skits, or you wanted your grandkids to see your Saturday Night like the one that you go, that's it.

Oh, I mean it's probably would have to be cow Bell or or with Will or you know. My favorite one was Mick Jagger. I did a thing with Mick Jagger. He was on the show show and Rolling Stones were on the show, and Mick wanted to do a sketch and so I go, Lauren goes go picture sketch to uh, Mick, And I go, if you want to go, I'm not talking to Mick Jack. I'm afraid I can't you talk to him. He goes no, he's cool. Go talk to him. So I wrote down all these ideas. I go, uh, Mick, I have this idea where me and you are are work at a Sunglass hut or something. He's like, no, not that, not that. Yeah, he's very very very nice to me, very very patient. He goes, not that. And so before the meeting, I said to Lauren, maybe I'll do an am pressure of Mick in the mirror. You know, I'll be his reflection. Lauren goes, please don't do that. That's been done so many times. Please Lucille Ball did it. I just don't do it.

Man.

So anyway, so I'm running down these ideas. I go, how about this idea Nick, me and you you're Keith and I'm Keith and he cloned himself so we can party with him whatever. And he goes like, nah, no, not that. I go down like ten ideas. I'm getting sweaty. I go, what if it's you in the mirror and You're like, why am I doing this show again? I've done in the seventies, eighties, Now what my rooster?

What my do?

And he goes, uh, I lot that.

I lot that, I did, Yeah, I lot that.

And so I had to go into Loren's office and say good news and bad news.

Good news.

He wants to do a sketch bad news. Were doing the reflection in the mirror. Then we wrote it on a Friday night, which is so rare. Usually write on a Tuesday night. We were on a Friday night. Got to set down. They made the best reflective set where everything's backwards in the mirror, and we rehearsed it once and did it on Saturday night and the place erupted. It was a It was I think it was for me. It was a perfect sketch for me.

Let me, let me see a little bit. You got a purple like a blouse on or something here?

Yeah, yeah, I got I'm wearing a purple. We're both wearing matching Mick Jagger purples satin blouses. And we're like, what, you're gone the rooster roaster, Come on it.

I'm pulling my finger at you. I'll keep.

You know.

He's just got out of control.

And I was.

I knew on SNL and I remember he loved it so much that he put his hand through the mirror and shook my hand and the place was shaking, and I was hot. From all the apply. It was just really exciting moment for me because I'm just such a fan of his and I love that sketch. Any any of those ones where the place rocked, you know, very lucky to get those sketches.

But even the last year, it felt like on Saturday Night Live, everybody was intent on cracking you up, like they the goal was to make you not get through it.

It was painful, Dan.

It was painful everybody because they knew I'm an easy laugh. You know, I just love I'm a fan of comedy, and it's very unprofessional with me. But Will Ferrell would We've been do a sketch where we're in a hot tub together and him and Rachel Dratch were this creepy couple that would get in the hot tub, and like at a hotel. At a hotel, there were those creepy couple that would get and he would eat like a duck leg or something, and he go like, how I And then every time I talked, his hand would pinch me under the water because he knew I would start laughing.

Oh, that's not in the script for him to do it. He just is pinching, Okay, Yeah.

And so he would do that, or Molly Shannon would do stuff that she just knew, Well, look at me, just make me laugh, and Tina Fey would just and they would crack me up, and I'm like, and her ratio sounds and I would just get in trouble and they didn't like it. You know. I had one line in cow Bell and Will Ferrell and Chris push each other and Will's wearing a shirt where his guts hanging out the bottom and his glasses fall off and he looked like an insane man. And I had my one line and I flubbed it and then everyone's mad at me. It's like they didn't put me in sketches. I got in trouble.

Is Jimmy fallon The Tonight Show coming up this Friday, eleven, thirty five pm Eastern on NBC. It's the big showdown that everybody's talking about. It's the Cardigan Classic with a DJ Collin and there's a little bit of everything in there, a little bit of everything.

It's really fun, but it's a good hour and it flies by quickly. It also repeats on He Caught the next day and then Golf Channel on Monday Monday Night.

Good to talk to you, Jimmy, thanks for joining.

Us, but always good to talk to you. Thank thank you. I appreciate you having me on. Keep it up, keep up to good work.

It's Jimmy Fallon Now.

A few years ago, I was on Fallon and Paulie went with me, and we're in the green room and Jimmy always, you know, comes by and says hello to who's ever going to be on the show. And so it's seconds before he's going to go out and do his monologue, and he walks in. He goes everything, okay, I mean, is it good, you know, just tell me need anything, let me know, excited to have you. And then I'm going, okay, stopping by, you know, a little bit before he goes on, goes on the show. He walks out of my dressing room, and then like six seconds later, ladies and gentlemen, Jimmy foll you know. And I'm like, he was just here six seconds ago. He just like cool, calm, collected, had the roots. There's his house bend so and I think his show just got extended a few more years.

I think they just just announced that. All right, let me take a break.

Let's see more phone calls we'll get to those big Mike Golick, he'll join us coming up next hour. We update our poll results as well.

Back after this, be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAP.

Spilled my water here on my keyboard, so I'm using my terrible towel to clean up the water here.

Oh is that like symbolism of what's going on with the Steelers quarterbacks?

They're going to be cleaning up this week?

Oh?

Man, did I spill a lot of water here?

Tyler?

I'm sorry? Oh dang, well, it's my fault.

I'm really sorry by his fault.

I I spilled a lot of water over here. Hopefully I don't get electrocuted here.

I should I just putting some drainage there for you, and I just I'm sorry.

Should have put a.

Cap on that.

No, no, I'm asking Tyler for help. I'm not blaming Normally, Tyler, its yelled.

At, uh see, who's running into same.

Show up? Gotta show up his teammate. Man, there's Mario.

Gotta show up Tyler.

Normally it's an airball from Mario, here you go, Yeah, just doing a little a little cleaning hair.

Finally came up with an the cysts.

Yeah, oh that's a mess, all right, Okay, here we go. Nothing to see. That was fun with Jimmy foul Uh. His imitations though, and to do an imitation to somebody in front of somebody is always really tricky. And here he's doing the imitation in front of Mick Jagger on Saturday Night Live. He's relatively new, here's Jagger and he's imitating Jagger to Jagger. Probably not as successful as when I did my Lou Holtz impersonation in front of Lou Holtz. That didn't go didn't go too well. He didn't laugh, he didn't really react and appreciate it. No, he didn't. And uh, and I put that on him. He should have a better sense of humor, Yes, Marvin.

What was more awkward that impersonation or Fritzy doing Shannon Sharp.

So I still can't believe he had me do that.

That was not something we talked about before the show.

But okay, you do the impersonation on the show.

I do.

But when Shannon Sharp in his arms and his tight jacket are sitting right there across from me.

Okay, but I mean you're a comedian, you're a performer.

Fritzy does a Shannon Sharp do a little Shotton shop for a buncle don over to play?

Well, I go with football.

I've been didn't buncle going made football?

Yeah?

See, why didn't you think that was funny?

She seems complimentary?

Yeah.

Why didn't lou Holtz laugh at what I was doing?

Well?

I think because I said, try and shake put your pants out, shame way we do. And then he goes, I don't shang.

You did croach?

First of all, I'd never take the Lord. Then I knew I was. I was in trouble there.

Yeah, well okay, Uh Dale in Indiana, Hi, Dale, what's on your mind today?

I wanted to give an early shout out for MVD for twenty twenty four with Jim Harbaugh yesterday.

Wait, did you say a shout out or a shout out? No, it sounds like it was a shout out. Give a shout out to Todd. Shout out, Oh, shout out. Okay, shout out for Todd because he got Jim Harball on the show.

Well Jimmy Pollen today And opposedly, Eli Manning tomorrows.

Correct.

Yeah, yeah, so Todd, keep up the good work.

And I wanted to inspire you for the strong finish in twenty twenty four by quoting the great lyricist one Joe Esposito, who once said, try your best to win them all, and one daytime will tell. When you're the one that's standing there, you've reached.

The final bell. You're the best around, Todd.

Nothing's gonna ever keep you down. Boys.

Okay, that was very emotional.

Kid.

It's karate kid.

I appreciate you're the best.

A body bag?

Is that better than hearts on fire? As like a good pump up eighties old montage.

Hold the whole segment there, I gotta fight. That's Rocky four, correct it is?

Yeah, it's working out in the barn, shredded, running up mountains and stuff.

By the way, I started watching a movie. I don't know if it's good, but there are moments that are really funny. It stars John Cena and An Aquafina and it's called Jackpot, and it's a new movie, and I find myself liking it more than I thought I would. Basically, this is in the future and in Los Angeles. Win the jackpot and then people can kill you, but they can't use guns. So once they announced who won the jackpot, then everybody's trying to find Aquafina. Well, John Cena's job is to protect Aquafina, and then he gets he's not asking for money, but he's going to get paid, and then all of a sudden, all these machine gun Kelly is in it. It gets just kind of like strange. But John Cena has some funny lines, like he he's had a couple of movies where he's funny and uh so I'm halfway through it. Yes, Mark, he's in train Wreck. He plays's boyfriend. He's great in that.

Also, I'm putting John Cena on my dour rankings right now.

Whoam my doer?

Right?

Why?

Sorry?

Because they had him in that season of The Bear and it was really awkward. Oh I thought it was terrible.

I didn't see it. Yeah, okay, it was like, hey, look.

At John Cena acting like he's one of these guys.

It just wasn't well.

When a show gets popular, then people want to be on the show, and then all of a sudden the show isn't the same.

I like John Cena and I like him in other things. He's been very very good in other things, like you guys are just saying, but right now currently he's on my Dower rankings.

Oh well, yeah, you might have to watch Jackpond. He's got some funny lines in there. Yeah, okay, aquaffeen and very funny as well.

He's very funny.

Yes, I do, okay, yes, Paul.

You mentioned shows that get popular and they have cameos. I remember, I think it's a fourth season or fifth season The Sopranos. They had a card playing scene, poker playing scene, and there's Lawrence Taylor as one of the guest poker players. And then there's another scene where they're in a tony Sopranos and a diner and there's Eric Manginia the Jets.

He goes, let me go say I had a man genius, and they started doing cameos.

Yeah, it's awkward. Entourage did that too, now, but that makes sense, I know.

But you know what, I think, I was so upset that day that I wasn't in Entourage, I wasn't invited to be in Entourage, and I'm looking at all these cameos and then for some reason it bothered me.

I don't know.

Why and even Doug Ellen, the creator of it, and he's like, why do you have a problem with that?

I go, I don't know.

I don't know.

It just felt like I probably should have made a cameo. But then I even said to him, I shouldn't have made a cameo. I don't want to be in something I like because I don't want to I don't want to ruin something that people are watching.

And then all of a sudden like Okay, yeah great, who's this guy? And I don't know.

It just feels like I didn't think you guys are going to be successful. Like Barry Bill Hayter's show on HBO. Loved it, and I said, hey, you know, you ever need a cameo and he goes, all right, you're going to be in the next season. And then the next season came and went, and I go still waiting and he goes, oh, oh we wrapped. We don't we're not doing it, And wait a minute, you invited me to be on the show. And I think what happened is I got a fake invite invite the fact. Yeah, yeah, like I kind of that's why I always do that to Sandler, and Sandler always caves in and puts me in his movies. But it's not fair to Bill Hayter because that show was so well cast that I would have just screwed it up.

Yeah, Paul, I got to.

Show you should be in. I think it's still on TV. You remember Bosh, You like Bosh, Loved Bosch. There's a new version of it's called Bosh Legacy. Yeah, it started I think last year. It's still ongoing. I think they have one more season. You should do an episode of Bosh.

I don't know if he knows who I am. This is Titus well Over. Yeah, he knows who you are, and he went to Yale. He's an artist. I mean not that I've googled him or anything. His Wikipedia page, but uh, I do like Bosh.

Good show.

And then he has his house, the house that's on the stage ELTs in Los Angeles. Final Hour on the way. I don't know what we accomplished today so far. There's one more hour to go that we can redeem ourselves. Big Mike Golick coming up.
