Hour 2 – Dylan the Graphics Guy, Sean Casey

Published Oct 4, 2024, 4:33 PM

Dylan the Graphics Guy pops on to talk about the gambling action for this upcoming weekend. And MLB analyst Sean Casey drops by to break down the MLB Wildcard round and what we can expect from the rest of the postseason.

You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Kirk d Cousins is expected to join us unless that phone call has something to do with it, but he'll join us a little bit later on. And Sean Casey of the MLB Network, Yes, Paul.

Todd is doing this thing. And I can read Todd's face. He's doing this cringey, quick talking, stammering thing. So I hope it's good news. But usually if not.

Well just tell Todd to go in the other room if he wants to talk to somebody kind.

Of entertaining from us for us.

All right, So, yeah, that's what's happening here. It's a meat Friday. In case you're wondering, and I know you are. We have the traggers fired up, white bean, chicken, chili and brats.

Who has it better than we do?

No body.

Stat of the Day brought to you by Panani America, the official trading card, And so this program, Fritzy is everything.

Okay.

Yeah, something came up in Seown Casey's schedule.

He asked if he can join us one segment later, so instead of ten twenty, he will join us at ten forty.

By a zoom yeah, but that changes then the segment we were going to do that, he's now joining us. We were going to do the who had the best week in the world of sports? Okay, I'll try to adapt.

You're very good at adapting, though, thank you from your Sports Center days. They throw things at you. You can kind of go with the plug.

I'm still trying to adapt to you.

Mets come back to eliminate the Brewers, Pete Alonzo with the home run, and the Falcons over the Buccaneers in overtime. Kirk Dee Cousins throws for five nine four touchdowns. Now, I have some numbers here for you. Most passing yards per game in primetime games active players. Yeah, I've got the stat of course, most passing yards per game prime time, Marvin, I'll start with you. Who has the most yards per game primetime Matthew Stafford second, Paul dak Prescott. No, not in the top five, Todd Peyton Manning. These are active plays.

I was on the phone and I didn't hear that first part.

No, no, no, you're not on the phone.

I'm not a fat right now.

No.

No, I didn't say, well, why do you do that, Josh Allen? Why not just say you know, I missed it. You weren't on the phone.

Right, but I know, but I was adjusting something off of that conversation, so I didn't catch that beginning part.

Can't you just say multitasking?

A lot of things going on?

We got we're out, Danette, I got the whole kinds of things open here on this on the laptop.

Something has to give it some point.

So Marvin and Paulie aren't busy. You're the only one that's been. But they answered the question.

I should pay attention more you. I don't know what else to say. I don't pay attention closely enough to the program. It says that if that makes everybody feel good, then no, there we go. Can't you I just nail it in and I don't. I'm just kind of nobody said here we go, Page we go, book a guest out of the way.

You said you were on the phone, and that was a lie.

I know.

But once the phone call is over that there's other things that have to be figured out. And I got all these different windows open, but I didn't catch um.

Okay, so Patrick Mahomes is uh the leader right now most passing yards per game, primetime two hundred and eighty five yards, Matthew Stafford to eighty one, Kirk Cousins to eighty in thirty three games. Kirk Cousins has had the same number of primetime games as Patrick Mahomes thirty three. Justin Herbert's in there and Joe Burrow in there as well.

Wow.

Stead of the day, stall of a day, stanatata day, scant outa day.

This is the start of the day.

Brought to you by Panniny America. Todd.

Who do you think has averaged the most passing yards in primetime among active quarterbacks?

It's probably not the right answer, but I had guess Josh Allen, but he didn't really throw it for.

That nun number. No, it's still Patrick Mahomes. I just gave you all the answers.

So you tricked me. Here you go.

How did I trick you to see if I was paying attention. You gave the answer, and I obviously didn't hear the answer.

But you were multitasking and probably on the phone.

Okay, what we want to do on Friday?

It was really harmless.

I don't have a good response to that. I need to pay more attention to work harder, just.

Half of it, that's all. Just pay attention, that's all.

Patrick Mahomes, Okay, got it, all right, all right, come.

On, come on, come on, we're here.

Come on, No nobody, nobody, Todd I.

I don't know if you're busy, but can you us the poll question for hour two?

I can give you the poll rush of four too.

It is which MLB divisional series are you most excited for? Mets, Phillies, Padres, Dodgers, Royals, Yankees, Tigers, Guardians.

I'm gonna say Padre's Dodgers. I just I think you got star power. I mean, you got a rivalry here. Padres were what five and eight against the Dodgers this season? Yankees they won five of seven against the Royals this year. Phillies they won seven of the thirteen games against the Mets. And the Guardians they won seven of the thirteen games against Detroit. Did you see where Terry Francona, a year after retiring, is now I'm going to manage the Reds.

I was.

I was really surprised at that.

I know that health wise that was an issue in Cleveland, but that's a great I mean, he's one of my favorite people. In a Hall of Fame. I was just kind of surprised gonna do the Reds all right, Retirement isn't a fun especially when you have that routine. Everything about a baseball player manager routine when you get there, what you do and a pregame meal, do this, do that, do this at the end of the game on the road or at home, you know, training camp, spring training, and it's just so regimented there that you probably missed that you sit around and go, what am I doing? What am I going to do? But that's great. Terry Francona back in baseball is great for baseball. Nick in California, Good morning, Nick, what's on your mind today?

Good morning Dan, Thanks for taking my call. Good to be on with you. So I'm watching last night's game and I got three boys, two are in school, second grade, in kindergarten, and it's way past their bedtime, and here it comes mister prime Time and he throws a pick. I'm like, oh, boys, game over, Sorry, time to go to bed. So I put them in the bed. I finished watching the game, and I was going to call in here and say, we may need to retire mister Primetime. We'll watch it last night game. What a phenomenal finish. I don't want you to get decent assist letters for mister Primetime, but I'm thinking we should do a new shirt. Maybe mister Thursday Night Kirk Cousins.

Okay, I don't know. Is there a mister Primetime. I don't know.

Does somebody have that official designation or maybe just Primetime Dion's got that. Okay, yeah, mister Primetime. I think we could get away with that. Maybe Dion would look the other way. I don't think he could argue with Kirk Cousins being mister Primetime. Here is uh, do we have the call? Here is the call, the game winning call with Kirk d. Cousins on ninety two point nine in the game the Falcons Radio Network.

Here's Mooney in motion with Cousins and they're gonna gun it and it's caught to Daryl Hodge thirty.

Five three any fifteen twelve home safely?

Oh my goodness, suck up to the game to Darryl was serious a walk off for Cadaryl Hodge and the Falcons forty five yards.

Kirk Cousins hit him right in the scene. Cadarrel Hodge had one catch prior to that catch. I don't know who Cadarrell Hodge is. Feels like he played in like the ACC.

Oh he went to Prayer View, A and M, then Heines Community College, then Alcorn State. Oh, he did the tour. Okay, he's uh, he's twenty nine years old. He's been in the NFL. This is his seventh season. He's got fifty nine catches in seven years.

Could Darryl Hodge?

Yeah?

I like that.

Nowhere Bob and New York, Hi Bob, what's on your mind today?

Hi? Hey Dan, thanks for letting me in. I always appreciate it. I got a match for you in the unexpected playoff home run from a surprise source department. JD. Drew's fourteen million dollars Grand Slam in the two thousand and seven World Series, except Alonso is a lot better beloved by his home fans.

Yeah. Remember JD Drew when he left and you go to Philadelphia?

Is that? Yeah?

And number one overall draft pick he went to Florida State. Yeah, yeah, JD Drew. Let me see what else do we have here? Bob and New Haven, Connecticut? Hi Bob, what's on your mind today?

Oh? Phil Phil and New Haven. Yeah, Hello, Hey, hi Phil.

I love me Fridays, but there's one thing better than me Friday is meet and moonshine Saturday. And I have a proposal for you. Yale is hosting Princeton on November sixteenth. I have a trailer, a food trailer with a griddle, an oven, and a smoker, and I will loan it or bring it and let you guys use it, or I'll cook for you for that game.

All right, Well that's quite an invitation there. We've gone to Yale, taket and tailgates. Before you know what, Phil, I'll have Tyler takedown your information and I'll let you know if I can get a group together maybe and we would have you just cook up a feast. I'll bring my tailgate moonshine, and we don't even have to go into the game if you don't want to. I was amazed the number of people when we went to Harvard Yale. And this is years ago, and like the gate, it's getting close to game time and I'm like, hey, we're going to go in, And there were so many people there at the tailgate at Yale. They're like, uh No, I said, we're going to go watch the game. They're like, no, we're gonna stay out here. By the way, you want to talk about a stadium that needs to be they should have like ten thousand seats and that's it. Like, let's just make it quaint because there's I think that's at least eighty thousand.

It's a huge ball. It definitely holds sixty five plus.

It is. It is spacious.

Also, there's no bathrooms in the stadium. You have to exit the property and there's go through the portal and you go outside to the bathrooms.

Well, real men can hold it four quarter.

That's the yel motto.

Yes, that's what it is. Yeah, but those.

Games are pretty funny.

Are you sure that they didn't have bathrooms. They don't have bathrooms there.

I don't know where you were going to the bathroom, but you're not supposed to go back.

Oh, I'd just open up a clause. There was just a there's one in the press box utility clause it there.

You have to exit the stadium. And they had these, oh my good little buildings outside and the concessions are outside as well.

Okay, I remembered the concessions. I don't remember the bathroom situation.

Yes, that sounds like a lawsuit. Well ready to happen.

There isn't there any rules about things being a certain distance from where your seats are to a concert or a sporting e band?

No, why didn't you look into that?

I think that's a It's pretty easy to exit the stadium. There's not seventy thousand people in your way. There's maybe like thirteen thousand. But if you like people in khaki pants and rugby shirts and hair part of the.

Side, okay, Yale tell you Yeah, Yeah, a lot of plaid plaid tongues. Yeah, led by Paulie. Yes, nobody plaids the way Pauli plangs.

Thank you.

We did a photo shoot at Yale, and I don't remember. I guess there were portageohn the portal eds.

There may have been like a service bathroom as we exited the that little ramp that we drove all the equipment in. Yeah, there could have been like a service bathroom there. Yeah, but not open to the public.

I can't imagine you're going to build something that sees eighty thousand and you're gonna go, you know what we forgot bathrooms?

Opening night? What we forget?

Hmmm? Bathrooms. Yes, Marv.

When that stadium was built, they talked like that. Yeah, remember that place is one hundred. Is that is the Rose Bowl a copy of the Yale Bowl?

Well?

Was he the Ye Bowl first?

Well, one looks like the before and one looks like the after of a stadium.

Well, they were like, hey, let's do the Yale Bowl but way better.

Yeah, it's huge. It's like a spaceship landed there. Yeah, Paul, the Yale Bowl was built in nineteen fourteen. It was actually used by the New York Giants football team in nineteen seventy three, nineteen seventy four while they're building their new stadium, So that's nineteen fourteen. Yeah, Fenway was nineteen twelve.

Does that sound right?

Checking checking?

Yes, Ton.

I was wondering why it's so big. Did they have like gladiat of fights there with lions? But the time I've gone to a game, it is so many empty seats.

Why do you need something that I'm checking? But I don't think they had gladiator fights with lions in nineteen four You.

Can get rid of three quarters of those seats and making nice.

It seems like that would be against the law.

But football in the twenties and thirties was dominated by Yale and Harvard and Army. Those are the places that sold out. Fenway Park built in nineteen twelve, okay, opening nineteen twelve.

I remember the first time I went to Fenway to watch your game and I sat down, and those seats are so small and there's no leg room. There weren't people who were six three back then, and nobody was heavy back then. But I remember sitting down. It was I remember going to a game and John Riggins, his son was behind me and introduced himself and then I think John Riggins's son spilled a beer on me during that game, during something exciting, might have been a playoff game, but I remember it was so cramped. There's I think obstructed views. Now they since added to Fenway, it's still one of those on your bucket list that first time you walk in and you see that green monster and you're like, God, I could almost touch that. I think I might be able to take one off the monster. Yes, Todd, some of.

Those seats aren't even facing the right way. If you're sitting look in the left field. You got to look the whole time, all the way and hurt your neck to see what's going on at home plate.

You could probably walk around Boston and see a bunch of older guys and they got problems with their neck because looking over there in that way.

Yes, boy.

The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California was completed in nineteen twenty two. The Myron Hunt was the architect. He's also the guy that did the Yale Ball or he's inspired by the guy you didn't oh, inspired? Yeah, but Myron Hunt admitted that het part of it after the album in Connecticut.

Inspired inspired inspired, No, they expired, expired, No, come on, no, no clue. All right, when we come back, Dylan the graphics guy is going to stop by with his gambling tips. It was another epic, almost award winning episode yesterday with Dylan, Shayan Irving and Bad Larry. It's available at Danpatrick dot com when we come back. Who had the best week in sports?

After this?

Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen.

Live gets phone calls coming up.

Sean Casey are a good buddy, former Baseball All Star and now an analyst for MLB Network, and in an hour from now, Kirk Cousins will join us. After his heroic performance last night, we could easily be talking about Tampa Bay and the Milwaukee Brewers. It was that close. We could be talking about the Brewers advancing, we could be talking about Baker Mayfield another win, they grind it out. But instead we're talking about the Falcons and the Mets. All right, let's look at some of the Now, we're gonna do the who had the best week in sports? Either person, team, network, broadcaster, or whatever. Who had the best week in sports? Todd, I'll say it again in case you're multitasking, I'm going with the ate wait holding who had the best weekend sports? Person, team, network, broadcaster, whatever.

I'm gonna go with the Detroit Tigers.

They sweep the Houston Nations, who went to seven straight alcyes as they did it with their former manager AJ Hinch. They go into Houston and take two at mid and may Park gives him love to the Tigers.

Okay, and that's against yours Astros. All right, Marvin, I'm.

Gonna go with baseball as a whole. The Mets. What a great game last night. A great series against the Brewers, the padres a coming back into national prominence, and then the Tigers just like Fritzy said, great week and they got great matchups coming up in the divisional round. So baseball as.

All a baseball as a whole.

Okay, all right, Paul, here's mine. It's a little wonky. Stay with me. Pete Rose. Not so much for the dying part, because that's more of a negative. That's never good. But he was what eighty three? That is a negative the positive. If you watch the let's say you're under forty years old and you watched the coverage of Pete Rose this week, you would have thought he's the victim of something and he was being shut out of the Hall of Fame and he was over punished for what he did and let the man have his day. If you're under forty years old, you look at Pete Rose is almost like a martyr or something, and you probably don't think what he did was that wrong.

I would rather stay alive and have people not know who I was.

If that were an option, I'd vote for that, yes, yes, But unfortunately that I didn't have anything to do with that.

Yeah, Like if I wasn't getting into this sportscasting Hall of Fame, and I'm you know, hey, if you die, then there's going to be a lot of people who realize maybe what you did at Sports Center, that's okay. You'd rather quietly go on. I'm going to quietly live my life. But I'm already in this sportscasting.

Hall of Again, it was the second part back to you.

I was going to do baseball because I said that earlier in the week baseball had a good year. I just think it was, you know what, We've been kind of knocking baseball and this commissioner and rule changes and speeding up the game and larger bases, and I think it all worked. And you have twelve teams that were in the playoffs, and it felt like all twelve had a chance to win and maybe go to the World Series. Baseball feels like it's going in the right direction.

Yes, Marvin, And the crazy part is Otani or Judge. Neither of them played this week, and they both had a great week. So for me, it's it can only go up from here the rest of the month.

Which Baseball divisional series are you most excited for?

That's the pole question.

Mets Phillies, Padres, Dodgers, Royals, Yankees, Tigers, Guardians. It's the Padres and Dodgers at forty three percent, followed by the Mets and the Phillies, and then minimal interests, Royals, Yankees, Tigers, and Guardians. All right, so let's look at the weekend. The best games of the weekend. Dylan, the graphics guy, part of the Gambling podcast, will come in and give us his gambling picks for the weekend. Guaranteed to be losers. All right, best games of the weekend. Postseason baseball, it's Padres Dodgers. There's so much going on there, and you know the proximity, the rivalry. The Padres I thought were ready for primetime a couple of years ago. Dodgers a little wounded, certainly with their pitching staff. Otani's on the big stage here, Yes, Pauline, do you see what the.

Padres are doing on their website. They're selling playoff tickets. They're trying to bar people from outside of San Diego from buying them. They're using every trick in the book to keep Dodger fans from coming down.

You also have Ravens at the Bengals. Well, Cincinnati has gotten off to their predictably slow start. This one's must win. This is a this they have to win this game. I'm gonna go must must win. I'm going to do a double muster. Yeah, extra muster on this one. Ravens at the Bengals, Bills at the Texans one o'clock.

Stefan digsbowl.

Stefan used to play for the Bills, now plays for the Texans. That's a one o'clock game, A sneaky, great one o'clock game. How about Sunday Night Cowboys, Steelers to a great tranch in NFL history, the worst rushing offense in the NFL.

Just slide that in there.

Yeah, they probably have the worst rushing defense as well. And okay, is Justin Field's playing for his job? Sunday Night feels like Russell Wilson Junior, the third is in the on deck circle to come back. If Justin Fields doesn't play well, they don't win this game. Dot dot dot dot dot. I think it's come on down, Russell Wilson. But if Justin Fields plays well, they win the game. He holds off Russell Wilson for another game another day. How about Utah State versus my Boise State team. It's probably not a marquee matchup to you, but it is because Boise State's running back Ashton Jounty is mussy TV.

Right now.

If you look at the prop bets, he is minus thirty five hundred to score a touchdown. His over under rushing yards one ninety two and a half.

Wow.

His over under last week was one eighty three, end up with two hundred and sixty. So that's my college football must see game. Brought to you by Kingswan. Slide into the weekend. It's Slider Sunday, king Swan. They want you to get together with family and friends enjoy the weekend, making every Sunday a Slider Sunday. There he is Normally he is our graphics guy, but he is also a full time gambler, and he's flying his New York Mets hat. He is Dylan, the graphics guy. Dylan, thanks for joining us.

Hey fellas, Hey Bud, how are we doing?

Did you bet on the Mets last night?

I did, Dan, which looked like usual foolish for a very long time, and then I was vindicated. However, there was a separate betting related tragedy last night obviously there's another game going on. Okay, Texas State and Troy. Yes, the point total was fifty seven and I had the over. They were at fifty five with twenty minutes left and it ended at fifteen. Now I needed a field goal, one field goal from either team. Troy continues to do this to me, and I quit. I'm done gambling. I texted Ray last night. I was like, I'm done. This is stupid, it's rigged. I can't wait to do it all weekend.

Yeah, you have been burned by Troy before so many times.

Yes, but you keep going back.

Well in the irony too. Is Texas State covered the spread?

So if I just bet on them to beat Troy by seventeen, yeah, there'd be no problem.

Yeah.

I got a betting question for Dylan on the morning game, the nine thirty am Eastern in London, Jets at Vikings. Do you have any policies on betting on overseas games, Dylan, because that's an early one? And do you bet against hot streaks like Sam Darnald?

I do well, I don't know. It kind of depends because it they have to end at some point, right, I mean Sam Donald the Chickens will come home to roost. I actually do like the Jets in this one, but I also would probably take the under. For some reason, I feel like those early London games are always a weird like Jaguars e score where there's a lot of threes and like eights in them.

Yeah, Okay, what other games do you have?

So I've got for college? Iowa's back this week. We're going through a rough patch at the moment, Iowa and.

You and Iowa aren't seeing I don't know.

We're going to counseling.

Last year, you made a killing on the under with Iowa.

Yeah it was nine and two. I think.

Yeah, this year's been a day different story. Yeah, you have this game the under Iowa at Ohio State forty five.

So if Ohio State State beats some forty to nothing, we're good.

I don't think Iowa scores.

No, No, I understand the over under.

Yeah no, I'm just trying to say I got it.

I'm forty four to nothing. You're good.

Yes, I'm speaking into existence. Okay, So I've got that. I got Purdue plus fourteen against Wisconsin. Purdue fired their OC because they were abysmal, and Wisconsin blew. Probably the worst game of the season last week. Yeah, okay, and I've got a juicy one, Paul, You'll probably like this Florida State money line against clemsdon No, dju who I think has you could probably say has been a bit of the problem there.

You're picking Florida State to win out right, straight up plus four to forty.

Wow, all sprinkling a delight dusting.

What is the betting line on that?

I believe it's sixteen and a half.

Yeah, in that neck of the woods.

Yeah, okay, but I'm going straight up. So that's college for the NFL. I've got two Browns plus three and a half against the Commanders.

That's at Cleveland. Yes, I believe so.

And kind of like Paul said, with the hot streaks, I feel like the Commanders have to cool off a little bit at some point. Jayden and Daniels probably due for a.

Not so great game, okay.

And then Dolphins Patriots under thirty six and a half. I don't see how any points get scored in this.

No points?

Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be zero zero.

Can you bet that you could?

I mean the odds would be astronomical, but yeah, to end in the zero zero tie has that happened in like.

The modern era?

I don't think so.

I don't think so either. Yeah, maybe three three I could see three three happening in that one.

Okay, yeah, Pauling.

The most recent zero zero tie in the NFL was November seventh, nineteen forty three lions of course giants.

I remember that one.

Yeah, yeah, a lot on that one. I had the over, they had the over in that one. All right, Dylan, Well there you go. Those are my best bets? Do you have worst bets? I mean usually the best bet I.

Was gonna say, aren't they the worst bets?

It's called gambling, ben.

Anyone who says they know what they're doing when it comes to gambling is lying to you.

No, The people who know what they're doing with gambling don't tell people are no. Those are the ones who are putting out the betting line. Yes, yes, the people are the ones collecting the money. They know what they're doing when it comes to betting. They're called Vegas, they aren't called yes your bookie.

Yes, Todd, I like that.

He thinks the Hawkers may not even score at all against the Buckeys.

That'll be fun to see they get shut out to get to Ohio State.

They like to do that, Alrighty. I don't know what we solved there, but we took up some time. Let's take a break. We'll talk to the always energetic Sean Casey get his thoughts on baseball moving into the next round. Baseball had a great week, great season. We'll talk to him, and then Kirk d cousin. We'll stop buying the final hour back after this.

Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAPP.

More of your phone calls coming up.

I just went out and tested the white bean chicken chili.

We're good.

You guys are going to be good at the end of the show. That's part of our meat Friday, along with some brots here. I was jonesing for hot dogs yesterday because I watched so much baseball, and then I said to Tyler, who makes our food, I said, you know, maybe some brods here. I'm still in a baseball mood after yesterday, after last night. This guy's always in a baseball mood. Sean Casey, MLB Network analyst, three time All Star with the Reds and his podcast The Mayor's Office wherever you get your podcast.

How's the voice today.

Danny good Man? How you doing, brother? What a game that was last night?

Huh okay? Did you think the Mets were done?

You know what I actually did at the end of the game, especially with Williams coming in, I thought down to nothing that their offense wasn't getting going, and I really did, and then it proved us all wrong.

But you know, like Pete Alonso goes up there waiting for one looking for one pitch? Is that would that be the hitter's mentality in a situation like that?

You know what I think?

Obviously in that situation, you know, you could tell he was trying to stay to right center, to stay on the ball. Because williams Is change up is one of the best in the game. I think he threw one hundred and seventy six change ups this season. No Homer's off it, So for Alonzo to hit a three to one change up for Homer to right field is like so improbable.

That's I mean, that's how big of a deal it was.

But I do think Alonso was still on the fastball and it was a change up.

He just left up.

Yeah.

In't that amazing that he knows that, like Marianna Rivera would throw the slider. He could tell you he's throwing the slider. It didn't matter, right, dude.

I mean, most talk about talk about stories A quick story. I don't know if I've ever told this on it Danny, but talk about Mario and Rivera. One time I had the day off. I got the day off in in Detroit and.

Uh, and Leland comes up to me.

He's like, hey, Case, you're leading off the ninth against Mo. I'm like, oh, thanks for the day off. This worked out great. So so Dandy, I go up there, I'm like, all right, I know he throw me a cutter. So does everyone in the park and so does everyone in baseball. So I'm just gonna I'm gonna step in the bucket, you know, I'm gonna step towards the dugout see if I can get to that cutter and.

Shoot one to Wright.

So sure enough, it happens. Mo throws me a pitch. It's a cutter. It's everything I thought it was. I step in the bucket and the thing starts coming in like I he'd seek and missile daddy, it's it's coming towards my chest. I'm like, oh my god, this is gonna hit me in the chest. I do what an incredible swing? I hit this ball, one of the furthest balls I ever hit over there, dugout almost out of the stadium.

Like it was like some of the worst hitting you've ever seen. Yeah, And next.

Pitch, Danny, I got the same I got the same approach. I'm gonna step in the bucket. Mo throws me a sinker. I didn't even know he had it. Bam, fifteen hopper back to him, broken bat. I'm out And I told Leland, hey, thanks for that bat really worked out for me.

Yeah, I said, slider a cutter with Mo. What do you think of the best of three format?

I like it? I mean I like it.

I mean obviously it gives you, It gives a you know, it gives each team a couple games to get some starters going to use your bullpens. I thought, I thought it's been great so far. Obviously only one game went to three and it was a great one. But I thought, I think it. I liked the best of three.

I did too, because all of a sudden, the road team wins that first game. Now all of a sudden, you got do or die, even though the home team gets all three games.

I liked it.

It was tension, there's excitement, and I thought it was it was just fun to watch because every game truly mattered. You know, those best of seven. You can lose it game or lose two and you're like, okay, you lose one and best of three. Now all of a sudden, you got people's attention.

Yeah, especially that game one.

It seems like you lose game one, man, you really got you really if you're the team that lost, you really got a lock it in. But you're right, it's the the pressure and the impact of those games is so heightened when you're watching them.

Okay, best storyline, if I said Royals Tigers Padres. Out of those three best storyline.

Royals Tigers Padres, you know what best storyline was, probably has to be the Tigers.

It just has to be the fact.

That the Tigers at the beginning of August were like I think ten games under five hundred or ten games out eight games under five hundred or something like that, and all of a sudden they make this run, which is incredible, especially with the way aj Hinch did it. Obviously, schools probably gonna win the cy young, but really he went to that that bullpen was used more than more than any team in the game.

The way they use them was incredible. And I also think that.

Up man, that lineup is so young and so hungry, that looks like they're having so much fun out there. Dan uh, I think that. I think for me, that's been the biggest storylines of Tigers.

We had Dave roberts On a couple of weeks ago and he said he was gonna leave open the possibility of Otani pitching in the postseason.

I mean, that would be incredible, wouldn't it.

I mean, can you imagine the year we've seen fifty to fifty and Otani? If we he showed up at any point in the postseason, it would just be one of the greatest years ever.

Just pissed one inning.

I don't. I can't have it. I can't. I can't allow it to happen. Yeah, I can't.

It's not happening.

I can't.

I don't.

I don't. I don't think it's gonna happen.

I don't think it should happen because obviously you just paid him seven hundred million dollars. You want to see him healthy for next year, but you never know, Dan, they need that one, that one inning to win at all.

Could he be underrated?

Can you believe? Can you believe? That's that's a great question. Could he be underrated?

Yes?

I actually think he could now that we've I seen what he can do when he's not pitching, because stealing those fifty bags, I don't think he would do if he was still in the rotation. But just showing the world that, no, when I'm not pitching, this is the player I am. I can go fifty to fifty and I bet you could play like center field too and dominate there if they let him. But the fact that he is still one of the best pitchers in the game. This guy throws one hundred plus miles an hour with a nazy split finger, and he's only getting better. I feel like the more he pitches in this league, he's only getting better. So it actually could be underrated.

MLB Network has live coverage before and after every league Divisional Series game starting this weekend. Plus we're talking to Sean Casey his podcast The Mayor's Office. Wherever you get your podcast. Yeah, you start to look at him, and now you had four steals in a season.

I think that was your high.

So two thousand and three, I remember it. I remember it.

I won a large pizza that Chris Welsh was one of the guys in the booth. He said, listen, if you get forced for stolen base, I buy you a large piece.

At the end of the year, I was like, you got it, so.

But there's no asterisk by your stolen bases. These bases are now as big as a pizza box, right.

Good one, Dandy, good one.

You could have had.

Six stolen bases that year. But I brought that up to Big Poppy. I said, you know, that year he hit fifty four home runs, he had one stolen base. He said, they gave me a standing ovation that I made it to second base.

Steels are all go.

I mean they are They're inviting you, encouraging you to steal. With that that trend continue.

Yeah, well, I think I think one thing with Otania.

I mean, it's easy to kind of say that, but then you look at the guys in the game. I mean, wasn't he second in Major League Baseball and Steel's I think Dela Cruz was one, and that I think Otani was too.

So it wasn't like everybody.

If the bags are bigger, why isn't everybody stealing fifty bases?

Why isn't you know? I mean, I mean so, I don't know.

I obviously it's easier to steal now, but still guys aren't doing it like, you know, like they like they like they could be. But if I was on these bay so, I definitely would have had at least five one.

Year yeah, doubt.

I also think that we've underrated Ronald Akunya his forty one seventy three stolen based season.

Now.

I know it's going to be forgotten because of Otani, but to go forty seventy a couple of years ago, I mean, that's remarkable, and I don't think it got the attention it deserves. Like there's a couple like to me, Fred Lynn is forgotten. He was Rookie of the Year, MVP, nine time All Star, not a Hall of fame, Like there's certain guys, certain moments seasons that always come to mind for I don't know why, but those are a couple of random thoughts that I've had. I don't know why Fred Lynn nineteen seventy five Rookie of the Year, MVP, nine time All Star, I believe not in the Hall of Fame.

Yeah, well, there's a lot of guys that come to my mind when you start to, you know, go down that path. But you know, like a Lance Berkman, you know, were just some guys Don Mattingly, you know, some of the guys I think of had incredible careers that showed me in Cooperstown.

Del Murphy, Yeah, Dale Murphy.

Yeah, you're right though, Dan, I think there definitely is a stigma with the bases being a little bigger. And I think when you look at at Kunya's numbers and you go, wow, forty seventy's that is incredible.

I mean, will we ever see that again?

I mean, Ellie Daily Cruz probably has a shot to do it. You know what it makes me think of, really, Dan Ricky Henderson, I mean one hundred and twenty what was he stealing one hundred and twenty bags a year with the bags being smaller, like guys are getting a seventy Now we're going this is incredible. Henderson was stealing one hundred bags numerous times. You know what I mean to look back what Ricky Henderson did and you go you have to go. Wow, Now that's incredible. Great to talk to you. Bring the energy next time if you can. Okay, I will, Danny, you're the best man. Good back to you guys soon.

Sean Casey MLB Network analyst and three time All Star. They're going to have coverage before and after every League Divisional Series game starting this weekend, just to let people know if they're not familiar with Sean, he's like that all the time.
