Hour 2 – Bronny Needs to Play Road Games, Ross Tucker

Published Nov 14, 2024, 5:35 PM

Dan wants Bronny James to play road games and learn to play NBA basketball. Ross Tucker explains why the Philadelphia Eagles are being slept on.

You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio Hour two.

On this Thursday. Our good buddy Ross Tucker will join us. He'll be on the call with the Eagles and the Commanders coming up tonight. Can you remember the last time the Washington football team was good and likable, because it's probably been quite some time. You got Jayden Daniels, good story, new owner just feels like a whole new direction here, and I think the new owner is the part that really has changed the temperature of this place. And if you don't have a dog in the fight tonight, you're probably rooting for the Commanders like they're a good story this year. But the Eagles are. They're on the verge of really good.

They are.

It's one of those that we knew that there was friction between the coach and quarterback. They weren't on the same page, and now it seems like everything's pretty good, pretty good. They're favored by three and a half according to DraftKings, the Eagles over the Commanders. We'll talk to Ross. Shaquille O'Neil will join us in the final hour of the program. The calendars for the year twenty twenty five are available at danpatrick dot com. Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show, Big ten Saturday Night, Number one Oregon against Wisconsin Saturday on NBC and Peacock Here comes Saturday Night. Thank you if you're watching on Peacock, downloading the app eight seven seven three DP show more phone calls coming up? Seat and you want to finish up the poll question from hour one? And what are we going to go with an hour two?

Heck yeah, the most sure thing future? Oh right now, Victor Weembinyama, Uh, Jayden Daniels or Paul Skemes, Paul Schemes with the Pirates.

Yes, we put him in there.

Well, it feels like any good picture ends up getting Tommy John surgery, So you'll probably be headed towards that at some point in his career. Jayden Daniels I like an awful lot. But Victor Wembenyama is he is certain. He's the truth, that is worldwide and he is changing the game last night, fifty points in twenty six minutes. He's shooting, he's making threes. A lot of guys shoot threes. He's making threes. That is scary. He should be the defensive Player of the Year and he might be first team. Well now that they're not doing position because Joker is playing as he's playing better than anybody in the NBA. But if you're going to do you've got to have a center on the first, second, third team. Then he's probably going to be second team. But you know there's a lot of big men. Embiid is not going to repeat his MVP ever again or win another MVP because he's not playing back to back games.

I'm going to talk to Shaq.

Shaq has a real problem with Joellenbiid, so I'll talk to him about that. But Victor Wembnyama should have been Defensive Player of the Year last year. I just don't know if the voter has watched enough games. He affected so many shots. You can block shots, and we used to say, oh, wow, you're defensive Player of the Year. When you affect shots. It's like when you get a hurry when you're chasing down a quarterback like Max Crosby had as good a year as anybody last year. Now, you're not going to win Defensive Player of the Year, but he puts pressure on the quarterback. It feels like more than any other defensive player you are disrupting, you might get, you know, fifteen sacks. How often do you disrupt the quarterback? How often do you, you know, make somebody adjust their shot. And that's what Victor y Beniama does. And he can guard you inside and outside. And the fact that he could stand at the dotted line in the paint, guard inside and guard outside on the perimeter, nobody's like him. And now you put offense in there as well. He's shooting threes, making threes scary, scary, scary scary. So I would definitely say, Wen ben Yama, what other pole questions do you have for our two season?

I don't even know that we got to all of Todd's. Oh okay, he's got many, many, many pole questions.

He's got one.

Let's see tonight we discover the Washington Commanders are dot dot dot dot dot going to win the NFC East and could make a deep playoff run.

Okay, not who we thought they were. Don't let them off the hook.

Well to Todd's first poll question suggestion, do you like big men shooting threes? Heck yeah, it's kind of freakishly awesome. Hate it, stay down low and grab some rebounds. Dude, Tonight we discovered the Commanders are going to win the NFC East and could make a deep playoff run.

Not who we thought they were. Don't let them off the hook.

I got to say it like that as green though.

Okay, not who we thought they were. Let him off the hook.

Aaron Rodgers thinks he'll play next season, and I for one am very relieved to hear that. Couldn't possibly care. Todd also adds, if I were the top free agent in my field, I would sign with the most successful team or company or the highest bidder. I guess that's the one sodo.

That would be one soda related with Scott Morris. As they entertain any and all dollars.

He's going to take the best offer. Okay, is there one out of that group that we would like to go Hour two?

Yeah? The Aaron Rodgers playing another year.

Not good.

Not good to attract a you know, a marquee coach. You just don't want to go into that situation unless they they overpay you to take that job, because that means you have erin for one more year, And what's that going to mean? And then what happens after that, and I think he's going to make sixty million dollars next year. That would probably enter my decision making process. I don't know if I want to go through this. Well, you know you're making sick. You know, I might give it another shot next year. Yes, Paul, I have Aaron.

This is a very convoluted contract. I have him making thirty seven million on the books next year. He has deferred money that they could avoid paying him next year on the cap, So if they decided to release him, they'd be on the cap hit of about forty plus million dollars, which is a hammer.

Okay, well not as much as the Cleveland Brown's gonna be on the hook or Dallas count You know, there's a few teams that are going to be on the hook trying to decide if they're going to stay with their quarter, you know, the Giants.

With Daniel Jones.

The fact that, I mean, how crushing must that be to your ego when a team is going to pay you to not play?

And we've seen that in a variety of sports.

But like Russell Wilson got paid to go away, Daniel Jones, we're going to pay you not to play.

Didn't John Wall.

Didn't he have a few years where they had he was a healthy scratch and they're paying him.

Forty million dollars? Was it Houston with John Hall?

Like I guess you get to the point where you go, yeah, oh, cash my check, but to be around the team and then you don't get to play. And here's Daniel Jones a healthy scratch. Now is he gonna be the third string quarterback? What if he gets injured on the sideline watching the game?

I would throw myself in front of a bus.

And then they're on the hook to pay him next year. Yeah, Paulie, you're gonna gonna bother you very badly.

A year and a half ago, Daniel Jones signed a four year, one hundred and sixty million dollar contract with the Giants. Ninety two of it is guaranteed, so no matter what they do with him, he still gets his full ninety two.

Oh well, I'm over it now. But at the time I went, what are you guys thinking? You know, And it's a decision that's gonna cost the GM and coach probably their jobs. And all he did that year, I think he had fifteen touchdown passes and they said we've seen enough and the back half of the season. Sometimes what happens in the second half of a season for a team that's maybe not going to make the playoffs really has a large influence on what you do the following year with that coach and or that quarterback. It's like the Bears end of the last season. Hey matdat eber Flus has them going. They're going in the right direction.

No they're not.

But what happens in sometimes you know you can see teams not mail in, but certainly they're not going to be in playoff contention. You start to play other players. But sometimes you get on a roll and then you're like, ah, it took half the season, but that coach has got them going right now. Like the Jags. They remind me of that team this year. Second half of the season, I'll be like, man, Jags are playing. They're bawling out here a little bit. First half of the season they didn't. There was this story came out yesterday Brian Windhorst Wendy with The Mothership was critical of what is happening with the Lakers. Bronnie James, so he's in the G League, played his first G League game on Saturday, and then Brian Windhors talked about the fact that Bronnie is not going to play road games, and now Wendy's kind of was pumping the brakes on this a little bit, but he said that he has heard that Ronnie's only going to play for the South Bay Lakers home games. He is only going to kind of be part time G League player. He's not getting on United airlines and going to fly and play those road games. I know he was getting so much special treatment and nepotism. That's fine, Honestly, I don't care. Like I said, it's normal. Now I think it's actually detrimental to him. I don't like that. I don't know whose idea it was. Obviously the Lakers are fine with it, they're doing it. On this particular instance. I think that's gone too far. I don't think that benefits Bronnie. I don't think that benefits the South Bay Lakers. I don't think it benefits the Lakers at this point.

Now.

I haven't seen any other stories on it. I just had Wendy talking about this yesterday morning, and he's right. I want to see Bronnie play basketball. I want him to experience being on a team going on the road. You've got to get him ready to play in the NBA, playing home games, picking and choosing when he comes up to play for the Lakers. He needs to play basketball. He hasn't played enough basketball. You really need to see can he play because when dad retires then you don't. You can't fall back on that. Yeah.

Well, what I don't understand about Brian windhorse statement is he doesn't say what he's doing the other half of the time. The way that he's framed this, it makes it sound like Bronni is a diva and won't get on United flights and now he's only playing home games because of the rest of the time he just doesn't feel like traveling. Well, what is the he says, this is the Lakers plan for him? What is their plan when the road games are happening? Great point, I mean, he doesn't address any of that. He just says, this is terrible for his development. Well, you've only given half of the plan. Well what's the other half we're trying to And I said to Fritzy, reach out to Wendy. But I haven't seen much else on this to know. Why have they made this decision that he's not going to go on the road.

I mean, I don't know. Is the travel that grueling? Getting on United airlines? This is this is part of the G League. You got to experience this. You got to make you know you're gonna you know, it's not first class travel, yeah, Pauline.

On November seventh, ESPN Sham Sharani reported that Bronnie James would play only G League home games as he shuttles between the Lakers and South Bay, like if he was going to be popping on the Lakers roster time to time.

And then YE League home games.

But it doesn't say what he would do if he was a full time G leaguer.

Well, I don't know if he's going to practice with the Lakers and then playing.

In home games, that's unclear from these stories like that.

That would be the only thing I could think of, is he's going to be working out with the Lakers and he'll play the home games.

But does that feel like a disservice to his development.

I'd still like to see him playing games. I'd like to see him play games.

So he'd play in half of them.

Yeah, you can be at practice, it's not the set now you're playing. It's better competition. But I want him in game situations. I want to see what he can.

Do and.

Do I think that, you know, can It can't affect his growth because we haven't seen enough basketball with him, And I don't know if the Lakers have seen enough where they go, hey, we want him basically practicing with us. I don't know what their feeling is on that. I mean, it's what Lebron wants him to do, and maybe he just wants him around. And you've had people say what I said initially, that Bronnie has energized Lebron. We've seen Lebron's play. Can't argue with that. So this isn't one of those oh what are they doing? What are the Lakers? Don't Lebron's holding up his end of the bargain. Bronni is not going to be a contributor, but Lebron may want him around practicing, helping him. Okay, I get it. Would I like to see Bronnie playing in games? Yes, I would on the road, Yes I would, because he didn't play enough in college. Like really the moment where you say, wow, Okay, Bronnie was the McDonald's All American game where he had a really good shooting night.

Other than that, I haven't seen enough where I go.

You know what, that guy could play, He could be on a roster, and everybody's careful with what they say. Nobody wants to be critical of Bronnie, But watching Bronnie, he's not ready to play and really not ready to be on a roster right now.

But that doesn't mean he can be.

And he's going to be that backup point guard now, he's going to be a defender. He's going to be a guy could come in give you some energy off the bench, at least that's how I view it. And he's got a respectable enough jumper, but he's not big. I mean he might be six to two. They probably listen him at six ' three. So I just want to see him play. I want I want him to get a chance to play and earn that right to go up to the Lakers. That's why i'd like to see all right, just getting started here with hour two, our good buddy Ross Tucker will join us. Coming up more phone calls as well. Eight seven to seven three DP show We're back after this. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live. To follow up some of my comments, Brian Windhorst kind of reporting yesterday or at least giving an opinion about Ronnie James staying in the g but not traveling with his team. And look, Wendy is is dialed into Lebron and his family as any reporter. Fact he's traveled the country following Lebron James. I just think Insider's got to be really careful when you frame something and you give an opinion, then it becomes official, then it's a report. I need more details on this. You know, Adam Schefter does this sometimes where Schefty will give an opinion, Well that opinion becomes a report because it's Adam Schefter. And Wendy's saying that Bronnie, you know, doesn't want to get on a United Airlines flight. So now you're making it really specific. So now it feels like Bronni is being a diva. Hey, I'm not flying you know, commercial, I'm not going on the road. And maybe this is just he's going to play home games in the G League and he's going to work out with the Lakers when they're at home.

I get that, or it's true, but you can't.

Insider's got to be really careful here, and it feels like insiders want to be more of a personality than just giving me reports information instead of my opinion. Love Wendy does a wonderful job. I just think how it's framed as dangerous and maybe not fair to Browning. Now, if it's true, then report that it's true. Not he doesn't want to get on a United Airlines flight in play road games. That's all Ross Tucker, our good buddy, CBS Sports, Westwood one Ross Tucker Football Podcast, and he'll be on the call Westwood one Commanders and the Eagles. When's the last time you remember the Washington football team being good and likable?

I think they were good and likable the RG three rookie year. Okay, you know, they basically brought a lot of the college concepts that RG three had done at Baylor to the NFL. It's a big reason, I think Dan why he was so successful that year. Why they were so successful is because defensive coordinators in the NFL hadn't seen a lot of the RPOs. They hadn't seen the zone read stuff, and so RG three took the league by storm. The city was fired up. I hadn't seen at the time, at least Redskin fans like that in a long long time. And then he gets hurt in the playoff game and it was just over. It was very fleeting. This, obviously, with Jayden Daniels, feels a lot more sustainable.

I like your Eagles a lot. I like them a lot more than I probably want to. But Jalen Hurts has played well. They don't rely on the passy. It feels like they're a Saquon Barkley led offense here. And I don't want fools gold here. Where I'm buying into it. It is am I seeing what I'm supposed to see with the Eagles. Are you seeing the same thing? That they might be the second best team in the NFC?

Well, I think they are the second best team in the NFC. They're very, very good. And here's how I look at it, Dan, They're going against the seven to three Commanders team tonight, and I went through it. There aren't many guys for the Commanders that would start for the Eagles. There just aren't. I mean, you look at it roster top to bottom. They've had the best defense in the NFL over the last five weeks, basically since the buye, since they put Cooper de gene in at nickelback, the defense have been lights out. Now, they haven't faced a murderer's row of offenses, but they still went to Cincinnati and beat the Bengals by twenty and they held Joe Burrow, who's been as good as any quarterback in the league this year, to seventeen points. And then think about this. Offensively, without any question, they have a top five wide receiver duo and maybe the best in the NFL without any question. They have a top five running back, maybe the best in the NFL. They have a top five offensive line, maybe the best in the NFL. I think they have a top five tight end and got her Hurts certainly since the buy has played like a top five quarterback. So if you got the best defense for the last five weeks, your top five at worst at almost every offensive position. I mean, they are really really good. Now their schedule gets tougher. They got tonight, they'll play the Ravens. You know they're gonna be tested more coming up. But Dan, they've averaged that they've had almost one thousand more yards than their last five opponents. They're out gaining people by almost two hundred yards a game. I don't care who you're playing. You don't see that in the NFL.

Is the coach off the hot seat, Nick Sirianni or was he on the hot seat?

He was definitely on the hot seat in the court of public opinion and among the fans. I do not think he was on the hot seat with your organization. I just can't see them doing that. I think that worst case scenario for him, they would have let the whole season play out. If it was a bad year, then I wouldn't have been surprised if they moved. It's not a bad year. It doesn't look like it's going to be a bad year. I think I saw where he's second among active NFL head coaches and career winning percentage. He's ninth all time all time. And I know it's not like the biggest sample size, but it's three and a half years now, right, I mean that's a decent sample size to have the ninth best winning percentage of all time. What's funny, Dan, it's twofold, right, Everything I just told you about the roster, and they probably do have the best roster top to bottom in the NFL. That doesn't mean they'll win it. They had the best roster two years ago in twenty twenty two, and they still lost the Super Bowl to the Chiefs. But because of that roster, and then because of some of the ways that Sirianni has carried himself and he's apologized for by the way, especially talking to the Eagles fans, a lot of people just they don't give him the credit when they win because the roster's so good, and if anything goes wrong at all, he gets all all the blame. They talk all that. What does he even do? Who doesn't even call offensive plays anymore? But what is Dan Campbell doing Detroit? I mean, what does you know what a lot of these coaches do. So for whatever reason, a lot of fans don't like him. They blame him for the collapse last year. They feel like they don't like the way he conducted himself earlier in the year. However, with every passing win he's his approval rating is going up by like five points stand every week. With all these wins, are.

The Chiefs board on offense.

I don't think so. When you watch them, though, it's just remarkable how they keep winning these games. Because this is as bad as Mahomes has played in a while. They're not very good on the offensive side of the ball right now. I mean, Hopkins has helped a little bit. Their crutch is still just throwing the ball to Kelsey, who's not quite what he was earlier in his career, but he's still reliable. I will say this, it's unbelievable how many third downs they convert. They don't have many many explosive plays. They're not putting a lot of points on the board, but they have an incredible ability. In my lifetime, I can't remember another situation where it's a critical third down. And I wish I did Chiefs games on TV because all I would say every third down is, uh, yeah, Jim, I'd like to predict a Mahomes throw to Travis Kelcey for a first down here, because it's like.

Un Canada, you would do your you would do your Tony romo.

Yeah, you'd be right, Like you'd be right like ninety percent of the time. If on third downs you just predicted Mahomes to Kelsey first.

Down, probably sound like this if you had if you were going to play the role of Tony Romo with Jim Nance, I don't don't.

You what are you gonna do?

You know what's funny about this is why your show is so great. Dan. I thought you might go to PAULI to do to do his Ross Tucker in interpretation and do that one. Or I thought it might be a fritzy that that seatan that that came out of nowhere would be third in my rankings of who was going to do the impression.

Well, we've done Tony Romo's impersonation to Jim Nance on the show, because Seaton will come in sometimes and that's how he does.

I don't know, Jim, throw it to Kelsey. They can run it, they can pass it. What would you do here, Jim? Or I could say, how would Ross Tucker do it?

I had a six meat platter last night, Casey a hot bed of barbecue.

O cant I get it to Kelsey? Kelsey here, then the flat.

And then if you were working with Kevin Harlan, it would probably sound something like this.

The single setback is Hilaire.

Back to path Mahomes. It's got Travis Kelsey for another first down.

I start my move once again with under two minutes ago. All I just learned in the last minute is we got to get Marv to get some impressions. I mean, Marvin's got to do some impressions.

Marv. Do you do any impressions?

No, I just do a bad Klay Thompson.

Oh, yeah, he does Klay Thompson. But I don't know if there's a real call for Clay Thomas.

There isn't, no not in this instance.

No, Okay, so give gives.

No, it's just Lebron Gus phillishurs a game.

Would you rather have Jalen Hurt's future or Jayden Daniel's future.

That's a good question. You're just talking about career, not contract or anything like that.

Career.

Okay, Well, so I think there's more upside for Jade Daniels. He's It's funny because I really thought last year Dan that Seed Stroud had the best rookie season for a quarterback I could remember, especially when you consider the Texans didn't have great receivers there o. Line like, what he did last year I thought was better than what Andrew Luck did, And now Daniels is topping it. I mean their offensive lines average at best. They have Terry McLaurin. I think the upside for Jaden Daniels as a player is higher than Jalen Hurts. I think Jayden Daniels is a better pure hocket passer. However, Hurts has the advantage of being with a much better, more established organization. You know, that's a big part of it. You're seeing that with Kayleb Williams a little bit in Chicago. Like, let's put it this way. Dan If Hurts was on the Commanders and Daniels was on the Eagles, it would be Daniels in a landslide. I think Daniels has higher upside to be a better player than Hurts. But it's still Washington, right. I know they have a new owner. I know things are looking promising, but it's half a season where we have the new owner doing positive things and good for the organization. I'm not ready to if it's a future we're talking about. I'm not ready to go all in really on any player with that franchise. I played for him twice. You can see the helmets I'm pointing to. I know what that organization is like, and hopefully they're kind of removing the stink from the previous owner. But I gotta go with I gotta go with the nest and the environment that hurts has around him.

Ross Tucker CBS Sports Westwood One analyst. He'll be on the call tonight the Eagles and the Commanders. Check out the Ross Tucker Football Podcast. Also he has the Raiders and the Dolphins on Sunday on CBS. You know, you start to look at some of these games. You got the Ravens and the Steelers. That's it's always great no matter what the records are. The Bengals at the Chargers is sneaky great. Yeah, out of those two games, which matchup do you like better?

Well? So, Bengals Chargers. That's a huge game for both those teams. That's I can't That's a beautiful Sunday night game. But Ravens Steelers for a long time has been my favorite rivalry in the NFL. And it's funny, Dan, I know you talked about gambling sometimes, but on the Even Money Betting podcast, I saw earlier this week where the Ravens were laying three and a half. I thought it was a joke. Dan. These teams have played five hundred times. It's come down to a field goal or less. Every single time. It's thirteen to ten every game. Maybe now it's like seventeen, sixteen, twenty seventeen. I love this rivalry because it's always competitive, always hard hitting, always fun. You take it always comes down to a fieldal I'm taking the Ravens to win the game, but I'm loving the Steelers plus the three and a half loving it.

Okay, the news that Aaron Rodgers is thinking about coming back next season means what? Oh?

I think it's fun to just speculate on which team will be desperate enough to give that a shot, because I don't think it'll be the Jets.

Oh, Okay, I don't.

I don't think they're gonna Now here's the other thing, Dan, I don't really. I would be sort of surprised, and I have no evidence on this, right. I'd be sort of surprised that Aaron Rodgers starts every game the rest of the year for the Jets, and I'd be very impressed if he does. I guess I just have a tough time picturing him playing out the string in these meaningless games in December.

I wouldn't be I can't see him on the sidelines. I can't what's that, I can't see him on the sidelines. I just there is no way, as ego is gonna be like, you know, I'm gonna hold a clipboard here.

No, oh, what I think it is?

Dan is?

I think there would be some type of injury because he gets hurt a lot, right, he gets banged up a lot. At some point there might come a time. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point there comes a time where there's an injury that they decide, you know what, let's let this thing. Heal not play the last three or four games. I might be wrong, and I hope I am, And I'll be thoroughly impressed if he sucks it up and plays all of these meaningless games in December. I'll have a lot of respect for Aaron if he does that.

Yeah, I didn't factor in if he would play someplace else, And you said if somebody's desks, Like if I'm the Jets, I don't want him to come back because it impedes me getting a really good coach, because there's no coach that wants to come in and you got Aaron for one like a gap year, like it just you don't want to want who.

Came to mine right away? Dan, And you will see how the draft goes. And I'm sure they want to draft Shador Sanders, but the other teams probably do as well. The Raiders. Yeah, the Raiders because Antonio Pierce obviously this year is not going well. If he gets a second year, it's like win or else. Brady's a part owner now. I think Brady probably feels like, hey, I could do it in my early forties, Aaron can do it in his early forties. And Mark Davis he just let Tom Brady get like a fifty percent discount on five percent equate. Like Mark Davis likes, he likes stars, he likes big name. I mean, who who gives someone He basically handed Brady millions of dollars to be a very minor owner on the team. I think I could see the Raiders doing it this offseason.

You played for the Cowboys. Did the sun ever bother you when you played for the Cowboys? No?

You know what though? When I played I played at the old what do they call it? Texas Stadium where it was like the hole was just where the field was, you know, in other words, like the fans were protected, but it was right over the field was the opening. The crazy thing about that is growing up outside of Philly and watching the Cowboys my whole life on TV. Texas Stadium always looked so awesome on TV. I'll never forget the first time I went there as a rookie. Down was like, this place is kind of a dump. I had no idea. I had no idea. It's amazing how sometimes on TV things can look a lot.

But do you think that's a home field advantage to have blinding sunlight?

Definitely not, and it certainly wasn't for Ceedee Lamb when he should have had a touchdown in the game. And if it is a home field advantage, then Mike McCarthy didn't take advantage of it by calculating here's what I know, okay, because he's been asked about it a lot this week. Kellen Moore is the Eagles offensive coordinator. Kellen Moore played for the Cowboys for a while, was a coach there for a while, including me and the coordinator. He said, it's something you have to take into account. He said, it's a factor. So I guess it is a home field advantage. If the home team realizes that and takes advantage of it, and the away team doesn't. Evidently, Kellen Moore, now on the away team, was more aware of it than Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys on the home team.

Crazy crazy, have fun tonight.

I will can't wait. It's gonna be awesome.

And then you got the Raiders and the Dolphins Sunday on CBS. So man, look at you, busy, proud of you.

Thank you, man. I appreciate that. Me and Iron Eagle tonight. Does anybody have an Iron Eagle impression? I'll listen when I hang out.

Let me see Todd. Do you have an Iron Eagle?

I don't think so.

Now, yeah, we got to get an iron ego impression. He's amazing.

Well, we'll work on it. We'll work on it. Thank you, Ross. That's Ross Tucker. Rossington Tucker is Football podcast and he'll be on the call tonight west Wood One, the Commanders and the Eagles, Iron Eagles. Okay, see if I did with that, We'll take a break. Phone calls coming up next year, Dan Patrick Show.

Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAPP.

The Colts are going back to Anthony Richardson, and I understand what they're doing, and.

I get it.

Joe Flacco didn't perform well, but they played the Texans, Vikings and the Bills. I didn't want to see Anthony Richardson against those three teams. Now they played the Jets. I'd like to see Anthony Richardson be able to come back play against the Jets because the Bills and the Vikings and the Texans those are playoff teams and Anthony Richardson is not ready to play.

Now.

Maybe he looks better against the Jets, but I like his chances there more so than the Bills, Vikings in Texans.

I get it.

You know, it's hard to bench and hope that they understand why they're being benched. And what are you supposed to do when you're benched? How do I watch a game when I'm benched. Most of these guys have never been on the sidelines and been benched, you know, throughout their high school and college careers. You get to the NFL, We're gonna sit you down for a couple of games. We're going to let you watch the game, learn the game? Well, who's teaching me? What am I learning? When I'm on the sidelines here? Hopefully Anthony Richardson at least has a better perspective on preparing for a game, and it helps playing against a substandard opponent like the Jets. A couple of phone calls here, we have our dour rankings. Shaquille O'Neil will join us. Coming up in the final hour of the program. Let me get to Sean in Kansas. Hi, Sean, what's on your mind?

Thank you forward taking my call once again. I originally called because I had an answer for the first hour poll question. I think it's schemes, just because I think everyone comes back from a Tommy John surgery and I think that the injury risk is too high for the other two. But I did call because I went and saw the new Liam Neeson movie. It was not what I was expecting. It's not an action movie. It's a pure drama about CTE and it made me think that Dan Patrick, the actor. I have a poll question for you, if you could choose between one of these three movies. It's the last of each of these series, and you got offered a role in just one of them. What would you take? Would it be the last Taken movie, the last John Wick movie, or the last Jason Bourne movie? All hang up and listen.

Jason Bourne.

Absolutely, if Matt Damon comes back and does Jason Bourne, then I would do John Wick, and then I would do Taken. But I saw where Liam Neeson's not going to be doing movies. He's going to be retiring here soon. I guess action movies. I don't want to see him in anything else. I want to see him in action movies because I want to hear more of this.

I am going to sit on the couch and then I'm going to find you and I will kill you.

Thank you.

Let's do dour rankings, Paulie, would you explain dour rankings? In case our audience is not aware of this.

Any team, any sport. It just feels bad, okay, and doesn't look any better.

I'll go first, Okay.

Oh, I watched some Weembanyama last night, and of course he was against the Wizards, and I can't imagine being a Wizards fan. Nothing really good has happened in about twenty seven, twenty eight years, probably, I can't remember last time they were really threatening I don't think they've been to the Eastern Conference finals in my lifetime. They are losing by an average of thirteen point two points per game at leeds a league. They're leading the league in something. It just feels like hopeless and not any promise. Yeah, not new, it's not refreshing, No, it's not. We can say that next month, right month after that. Todd Dower rankings. I don't want to be but I'm dowur on Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

They've lost four in a row. They were four and two, they're.

Four and six, and they got the Giants, Panthers and Raiders coming up, so they better clean it up.

Are they the best losing team in the NFL? You can make that argument, thank you, Tom.

You can, especially in that division.

They're still in the un seat O'Connor Dower rankings.

I'm dowured on Roger Goodell sort of hinting at a full NFL international schedule more and more. I'm not against international games per se, but I'd like to know exactly why this is such a big.

Mystery, or like he's putting down breadcrumbs. Yeah, yeah, they're doing this. Yeah, but this is how the NFL does things, and then they want the reaction. That's what they want instead of saying, we're doing this, it's you know, we're looking at maybe an international package where we have eight nine games internationally every year. No, they're doing this and they're going to sell this separately and they're gonna make another billion dollars.

But why there's like a.

I don't know if it's sports media that does it, or if there's if it's fans that do it, but sports media in particular like, hey, it's good business. Huh, that's just good business by the NFL continuing to good know, what they're doing is ripping us off. What they're doing is repackaging the same games, moving them to another country, and then saying now we're going to charge you more for these two. That's that's ripping us off as fans. But for some reason the media gets in line and they're like, man, how smart is Roger Goodell?

Huh?

Look at how you find a way to milk money out of the same people for the same games over and over again, Wally, you.

Know, it's interesting seatons, right, But they're gonna package it like when they go to the eighteen game season. We're giving you that home game back because now we have eighteen games, and we could afford more international games because of the eighteen games.

But we're giving you the fans another game, and that's just good business. It's out of the country, but we're giving you an eighteenth game.

You're lucky. Marvin Dower rankings.

The Houston Texans. They lost three out of their last four, including a bad loss to the Jets. Three of those four games they could have won. So I'm dowur on the Texans.

Okay, Yes, Paul.

I do have a Liam Neeson update. He is going forward. He's gonna stop shooting action movies. That said, he's been a busy guy the past three years shooting them Upcoming, The Mongoose, The Rikers, Ghost, Ice Road two, Rode to the Sky. If you didn't see Ice Road one, what do you do?

You need to see that first before you can see the sequel, you'd be totally lost.

Yeah, Run All Night two, follow up to.

Run All Night right?

Yes, Hotel Tehran, Cold and Cold Storage, Cold Storage.

I can't wait.

He's a refrigerator repairman with a certain set of skills.

Final Hour on the Way Shaquille O'Neill, Tim Patrick, shut that up. He'll join us. More of your phone calls as well. Final hour in this Thursday, right after this
