Hour 1 – Transfer Portal Open, Battle of New York

Published Dec 11, 2024, 5:18 PM

Dan thinks it’s unfortunate that the NCAA Transfer Portal Window is open during bowl season because it means a bunch of players will be sitting out. And he addresses the feud that has been re-ignited between Mets and Yankees fans over the signing of Juan Soto.

This is the greatest.

Make sure watching on peacock. I got my cameraman in here.

Weeks is they just took a much better camera angle than the original one.

It looked like you were doing a duet.

He was. He was helping me with my computer. He does a lot of things here.

It looked like one of those zoom calls where a kid walks into the room.

Get out of here, kid.

Yeah, so weeks my cameraman was helping me with my computer.

Yes, Marvin, he is now definitely the winner of almost valuable BRG.

I don't know what, I don't know. It's still open. He runs the camera and he just did that.

I know, I know, Oh, Mary, and I did tell him thirty minutes ago to do this. Oh yeah, you see what happened.

I'm gonna moon walk away from that.

Yes you will.

He's got other responsibility.

He can't just come running in and fix the computer. Todd, Quiet, Paul, but did that happen?

You've been hosting TV a lot long time at Sports Center, had to be especially in the earlier days. Moments before going on air, Catastrophe, lights power, did you guys have.

A few of those? We had a roof leaking one time above you like right above you.

Yeah, yeah, and we put a cup out on Sports Center, so it's just dripping, drip srip. So we just did Sports Center and then we would pour out the cup and then you just continue to do it.

You were doing it for an hour, yes, Paul, I remember one.

We were two thousand and four ALCS Yankee Stadium. You were co hosting the six o'clock Sports Center, and moments before man maybe about a half an hour for going on air. The telep They had these little baby teleprompters to help you go the ins and outs of Sports Center, and they just you know, craft the bed. They weren't working, and so a bunch of people had to write on blue cards, not the script of Sports Center, but the ins and outs of the brakes, and you were being handed them from under a table. Like there was a guy down there named where his name's not relevant, but like he was off camera and handing the blue cards up to you, and you were seamlessly going coming up next, we'll talk to Tito Francona and see what they can come back, and then this is Sports Center, and then it was just a it was wild scene.

I remember doing the NBA Draft and I had somebody right down beneath me, because I wanted to know the picks. I didn't want to jump the pick. I wanted to know what it was. So when it was announced that I immediately could go to my research there. But it wasn't one of those where I go, you know, I think Portland's going to take somebody from Washington State. It wasn't anything like that, because you can get that information if you want to. But I had somebody underneath right down, you know, for hours, just sat there scribbling, and then they would and Commissioner Stern would announced the pick, and then you know, he'd put his hand up and you know, give me the card and I'd go, Jay, Billis joins us, Now, Jay, what can you tell us about Brandon roy Yeston.

That's one of my favorite parts of any draft is when you can tell now the moment that they oh, that's where they just got the news. It'll be graphics and everybody's talking about I mean, this offense is a mess. You gotta start from the ground, Zerar, you gotta rebuild, you gotta. But would be surprised if they go Edge Rusher. I know, Ah, that's where they just got the info.

Well, Chris Berman used to go, a little birdie is telling me that they like running back, and then the Eagles and Ounds their take it, you know, and he'd be like, already, but you can find out the information if you want it. A little birdie told me the Patriots like a quarterback out of Michigan, and the Patriots take Tom Brady. Alrighty, Good morning to all of our radio affiliates around the country, over four hundred cities in America with this program coming up, Albert Breer The Monday Morning Quarterback. More on the Bill Belichick situation. Also Ryan Rossillo Obtainable and Rossillo Podcast. But yesterday a story came out that apparently he was going to make the move on Megan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, hoping to have some sussex with her and he will join us. They were we were at the Direct TV Celebrity Beach Bowl and he was playing in it.

Megan Markle was in the.

Show suits and there are a lot of famous, beautiful people there and Ryan Rossillo. And Ryan was thinking that Megan Markle was good to go, like, you know, he could stare into her eyes. Now there is a picture where it's just Ryan, and it's Megan Markle on the football field or on the on the beach on the sand, and it just does two and there's a nice little smile that she has there. So Ryan will join us coming up a little bit later on we say good morning. Obviously the radio partners and Peacock is well, Fox Sports Radio, iHeartRadio as well. The NFL Winter meetings are in Dallas. I'm not sure exactly what they're doing over the next two days, but Albert Breer will join us from Dallas. The transfer portal wide open, ready for business. We've said this the last couple of years. Lane Kiffin just came out and said, why is the transfer portal open right now during bull season? Well, we're getting towards the end of semesters for most universities. I'm guessing they were trying to tie it into that. This is what's happening, just to let you know with bull season there are players negotiating to either stay or they're going to go to another school. And my source said, last night, do you know there's going to be two players now? He told me last year three players, Marquee players were playing, getting ready to play in bowl games. But negotiating with another school, and the school said, we don't want you to play in the bull games.

So he said, there's two.

Players that are you know he said not prominent because he said, I don't know if your audience will know them, but we know them. They're negotiating with another school right now, and the schools are saying you can't play in the bull game. So you put these kids in this situation. Where would I play in a bowl game if I'm going to another university.

No, I would not.

If I thought I had pro potential or I was going to get paid when I go to another school, I wouldn't. Like you do everything for the regular season. That's what you're supposed to do. You know, the fans suffer. That's what this is about. But I don't know if you're tuning into bowl games now necessarily to see players as much as like the Pop Tart Bowl? Who remembers who was in the Pop Tart.

Bowl last year? How about the the Mayo Bowl? Who was in that?

The Bahamas Bull It's just it takes up three hours. ESPN needs the programming and go back to Leonard four and Christian McCaffrey. They didn't play oh my god, you got to play. They're business people. Why is it business for everybody else? But it can't be for.

The kids, and that's how they're viewing this. You're going to have players who are going.

To opt out of the Bull Game because they're going to transfer.

Now.

Dion said, Travis Hunter and his son Shador are going to play in the Bull Game. That'd be a great conversation if Shador said, hey, Dad, I don't want to play. I want to be healthy when I go to the Raiders. I'd love to hear Prime and his son talking. So obviously he's going to play. Travis Hunter says he's going to play as well. But it's bullseason, it's transfer portal season, and it's unfortunate because it shouldn't be happening right now. We brought it up last year. I don't know if there was any movement inside to go, hey guys, why are we doing it? At this point of the season. You have now you have more teams playing in the playoffs, so that means more kids have more decisions to make of do I want to play in the bowl season? How much do I want to play? Because you could be playing four more games depending on your success. And I think that's unfortunate because the bowl games, I know, this is really big to a lot of cities and some small cities that are hosting a bowl game. It's important to them, you know, the local economy all of that.

And I know we make fun of.

The pool and weed eater and some of those, but they are important. You know, the outback, Well, it is important to these cities. But I don't tune in going anymore where I go got to see that guy because that guy may not want to play, or that guy may be ready to transfer. And I think you're going to see more and more of that, and you have the transfer portal at this time unless they change that, I think you're going to have more of this.

Who's playing.

You're actually tuning in for the school, maybe a coach, maybe a quarterback, but there's already guys who are dropping out.

Yeah, Paul, I think what bothers college football fans, and I could speak as a college football fan, is that, yeah, you're getting paid. I don't think most people have problems with athletes getting paid in college. I think the problem is why don't they have to honor contracts and finish out contracts. If these are contracts, these NIL deals, Like if you're a player for the Cincinnati Bengals and you don't make the playoffs, so you're ineligible. Let's say you're don't make it. You can't just leave the team in week sixteen. You have a contract to finish out the season. Why can a player for old miss leave now and not finish out the season. There should be a similar thing with your NIL deal that you finish out the deal, your season with NIL, which is approved by NCAA. All NIL deals are approved by NCAA. You finish the season, and then you enter the portal and do whatever you want and go to the next team.

Yeah, Seed, I'm not saying that I agree with this nocessarily, but it's possible that in the contract they did finish the season. Now there's this extra game that they're supposed to play.

Correct.

Here's here's the problem I have with it, though. Let's say you sign an NIL deal. What constitutes your season? You may be playing in four more games? Have four more than other people are playing in? Hey, you're going to play in the playoffs. Well do these kids, how much do they care about that I got to play four more, but I'm not getting paid more.

But I'll negotiate that as escalators and your NIL deal. If you make the playoffs, you get bonus money. They want to make the playoffs.

Well, this is for the schools. Like all of this is the wild wild West. It just feels like nobody's thought of anything until they think of something and they're like, oh my god, this is crazy. The transfer portals open. Wait, kids don't want to play in the ball game. Yes, yes, so they almost have to go through this to go okay. And we went through this last year with a transfer portal. What happened nothing this year?

Nothing.

Here's Lane Kiffin bringing it up when I'm going, yes, this happened last year, It'll continue to happen, Lane, Yeah.

I think that. I think it's obviously it's going to take a few years for all of this to shake out because every year you identify new issues, whether it's with the.

Transfer port or NIL. Now the playoff system.

You know, but if you're going to put that into people's contracts or whatever, you think A kid at Indiana was like, I need a playoff bonus really, really, Charlie, you know, you probably don't think you're going there. I don't know, maybe Boise State, maybe SMU. You really think kids holding out for like another hundred grand because well, what if we make it to the playoff.

Probably not.

But you have players who are negotiating staying South Carolina. One of their better defensive players and edge rusher re signed to stay at South Carolina.

Great.

No, but that's what is going on now, that's what we want, right, players to stay longer. Yes, yes, great, but they're negotiating. You could have somebody at one of these bull eligible schools or playing in the playoffs going I don't know if I'm going to stay or I want to be paid. I'm want to be paid more for the playoffs. Great, It's just it makes it's a mess with this of trying to do you know, can you put clauses in these contracts that say, hey, if we make it to the twelve team playoff, you get paid commensurate to how far we go. Right, Yeah, but college football is in the dark ages still with this.

They're not advanced with this.

That's why it's a mess with Lane Kiffen has been coaching for decades and he didn't see that this was an issue. You bring up the transfer portal now or kids are going to play in possibly three, three or four more games. And look, I know Lane didn't create the rules, but he knew the rule was in place. Why are we waiting until what's going to happen now? And then when the bull season ends? Does Lane Kiffin go, Hey, guys, I brought this up in December. I want to make sure that we address this. Hey, I brought this up in January. I brought this up in Mark. This is when you do this, stay with it, you want to correct it.

Great, then we don't have a transfer portal issue. Yeah.

See, I think those three things are massive changes in college football. So I think I think it's fair to think to understand that not everybody saw the challenges that were going to come through.

Right.

Nil is a massive change. The transfer portal is a huge change. The college football Playoff is a massive change having twelve teams. So I don't know that you can When NIL was first announced, almost universally, the reaction was like, oh great, so now Clemson and Alabama are going to win every year and we just.

Completely destroyed college football. And really it had the exact opposite effect.

It leveled the playing field more than you could possibly imagine, where Alabama's not even in the twelve team and Clemson kind of back to their way in they got lucky to be in.

So well, okay, I'll go back to when this started.

A Hall of fame caliber coach questioned why we would pay offensive lineman? What are you going to give them free pizza? Was what I was told, And I go, you are crazy. You build with your offensive and defensive line. A Hall of fame caliber coach who said this to me. So they weren't even aware back then, and once they just look at.

The NFL and see if offensive lineman make any money, and then now you're going to know, well, this is what their value is.

So but that's where we're here in the transfer portal and guys are sitting out. Christian McCaffrey saw it, sat out, so did Leonard Fournette. And that wasn't even transfer portal. That was just these guys preserving themselves. And at running back, I can't blame you. So it's tricky. Do we have contracts? What do you put in with the playoff with a bowl bonus? I don't know, but that's what I would be at least aware of. And the transfer portal this late in the year.

Yes, Bart, that's like when a Jake Budd at Michigan got hurt. Like see see that's why first round draft picks don't play in these quote unquote meaningless ball games. If you're not playing a national championship, I don't need to play in this bowl game. Let me get ready for the NFL.

Yeah, if you're at Alabama and you're going into the NFL first round, are you going to play against Michigan in a bowl game? I don't know.

I know it's up to the individual, but I can only imagine if I'm a first round draft pick, you're rolling the dice every time you play, and now you're going to ask these kids to play two, three, maybe four more games. I know you're playing for a national championship. This is about business. It's business all around, and it's going to be business for the kids as well, and it should be. We'll take a break just getting started. We'll get a poll question for you, and we're back after this.

Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen.

Live all right, Seaton Poll question for hour one is going to be what right now?

College football? The main thing it needs to fix or work on is dot dot dot what? Okay, the timing of the transfer portal. That's pretty easy fix though.

Yeah, right, I would think so. I would think so nil as a recruiting tool. Oh, I don't know how you fix that. I don't know how you fix that. What are the other options? Uh, scheduling.

Okay, yeah, that won't happen until everybody gets under the same umbrella, and then you're gonna have a schedule maker and it'll be just like the NFL. You have this schedule release, you'll have a you know, whole party with that on the mothership. Anything else that we're changing.

I have another suggestion here, conference alignment. I don't know if there's a better way to say that, but some of the conferences have just gotten so ridiculous that maybe it's time to just shuffle the whole deck again.

I think we're headed towards that, but it'll probably take five years. I think we're going to add two more playoff teams. I think they'll do something different that you're not giving schools automatic first round buys, you get into the playoffs, and then after that that's when you start to seed. And I said, according to Vegas, And I said, I was told by a source who said, you can't recede after the first round games because you're asking a fan base of maybe thirty forty thousand, twenty thirty thousand to then change their plans.

They're going to go to a different city. I get it. I understand that.

I think that they could probably accomplish the reseeding by not giving those automatic bids that you get an automatic buy in the first round. I think that would probably prevent that, and then you would get a true seating in there one through twelve that would be fair like Oregon. I mean, Oregon probably would have been better off losing to Penn State. That's crazy to say, but okay, listen to this. So they're undefeated, that might come as a surprise. Ye're still not aware that there was an undefeated team this year. Oregon will potentially have to go through three teams with the highest odds to win the title outside of themselves, Ohio State, Texas in Georgia. Okay, so they get a first round by but this is where people are going to have or do have a problem. Arizona State and Boise State are in the top four. Well they shouldn't be. They should be in the playoffs, but they should not. They should not benefit the way they're benefiting from some of these other schools. And with Oregon, they went undefeated. You did not do them any favors. And that's unfortunate because if they had lost to Penn State, would they have gotten a better draw here because they have to go through three blue bloods here and that's not fair to Oregon.

Yeah, pong.

It's also self defeating for college football playoff broadcast. You're putting your high end, big time teams in position to be knocked off earlier in the playoffs and not go deeper into the playoffs you want, just like the nca tournament always wants Duke in North Carolina and the big Ones in the final four.

This hurts that, all right, So we got our poll question. The Yanks got Max Freed. Okay, yeah, they got Max Freed. So a left handed pitcher.

He's good. I think he's injured oft injured, but you got.

Him with Garrett Cole and so they paid a couple hundred million dollars for Max Freed. That's about it. I mean, after the Wan Sodo news, it's like who cares. But this is where teams fill out their roster. This is where teams make moves, where you go, wow, they got a couple of nice signings there.

But here's the thing that happens. This happens in New York.

It's the Yankees and the Mets, and and more so the Mets. The Mets have an inferior inferiority complex with the Yankees, like they felt like felt like they won because they got one Soto and the Yankees loauncht him. Well, you're not winning a lot of games in December. In fact, you're not winning any games in December. But hey, we won because we got him from the Yankees and take that Yankees. Well, the Yankees are going to go out and they'll spend their money as well. But just because you took them from the Yankees doesn't mean it's going to translate to winning a World Series. But it feels like that is this backyard brawl, and hey, we got him them and you don't have them, therefore we won, all right. A couple of phone calls in here Paul and Iowa Paul, welcome back.

What do you have for me?

Hey Dan?

What works for the week?

I'm stuck at home with a fake kid this morning, but left me some time to develop a little theory to call in. I was looking at the draft board for the NFL with Giants one Raiders two, and it made me think about the clip that resurfaced of Deon Sanders telling Antonio Pierce to draft those Sanders boys. And it also made me think what would the Raiders do to make sure they get that number one? And what if this works out for both teams? Because if the Giants don't want a quarterback this year because they have their eyes on somebody with a last name that's already beloved by Big Blue and isn't available until twenty twenty six, should the Giants put up the smoke screen, force the Raiders to trade up, give themselves a haul, and basically just sign Jamis and wait to get the beloved manning back in Big Blue next year.

Well a lot can happen now. I don't think the Giants thought they were going to be in this position. The Raiders probably didn't think they were going to But you're not surprised that they're there, and what's to change next year? You've got a coaching staff and you have a GM who have to win. With the Giants, I don't think they can go into next season and go, hey, we got a Hall pass here because we're going to take arch Manning. Now, are you planning on the Raiders being bad again next year? If they know they're going to trade up and give you the number one pick from next year?

The Raiders are bad on their own.

I don't know if they need help, But I'd said all along, I thought Shudor Sanders was going to go there. And if I'm the Raiders and I'm Tom Brady, I want to make a splash. I would say to Dion, do you want to coach in the NFL? Do you want to coach your son? See if he wants to still feel like that that's hanging there. But when you you start to bank on hey, we're we're gonna be better or we're gonna be worse, you start tanking this year for next year. It's just dangerous because what happens if you don't get your guy? And I think you run that risk if you're the Giants. But you've got a coaching staff trying to keep their jobs there. They can't go Hey, can can we be on scholarship next year? If we don't play well that we get to still stay. I don't think that's gonna happen. Nick and Louisville. Hey, Nick, what's on your mind?

Hey DP, what's going on?

Hey bun?

Hey?

So you know, going back to yesterday a bout firing your shot. So we're still but so you know, I'm kind of like you used to that at the end of bar show, the vibe off a little bit, but uh, you know Wrigleyville, growing up in Chicago, twenty two years old, we got this guy. He's twenty two, going out fifty baldy teethight grilled chicken. But this guy, every time we're at the bar, walking up to the Budweiser girl, walking up to the Red Bull girls but more like girls, this guy would get a number and a date every time. So, Paul, you should have fired your shot at the bar. You never know what's going to happen. But this guy man, every time number go on a date. I just it's unbelievable. So, you know, were so if you fired a shot, you got to give him.

Credit for it.

Well, he didn't really because he thought that she was obtainable. But I don't know if he he was going to shoot a shot with Megan Markle, but it seemed like there was a little magic there in the picture we saw from the Beach Bowl where they're making eye contact with each other.

JD and Tulsa. Hi, JD, what's on your mind today?

Hey?

Dan?

See five to eleven Thanksgiving two hundred pounds. I was just going I kind of had a couple of ideas on how to stop these kids from sitting out Bowl games, leaving early. I mean kind of, uh, just leaving their teams and alerts. If they've signed an nil the deal to go to a to go to another team, I think that should not end until that team's season is finished, whether they go to the playoffs or they lose out or whatever it might be. I think that those kids should be ineligible for Heisman's and I think if they decide to leave, then they can be penalized. I mean, they're signing contracts money wise, they have to understand that, you know, you can't go into these contracts and then just decide, hey, never mind, I'm gonna I'm gonna go to this other school.

You know.

It's just I think it's a good way to discourage that, especially the Heisman.

I know that's only gonna limit a few people.

Yeah, but I can't do that to a Heisman guy. If Travis Hunter doesn't want to play, he should still win the Heisman Trophy. I can't go, hey, you didn't play in the bowl game. I think that you have to have a standardized the NCAA, the SEC, the Big Ten, everybody get together. Have a standardized contract. This is what you're signing up for. If everything's above board, everything's transparent, then make it that way. There shouldn't be gray area. This is the contract. This is what you sign. You get this. They you know there'll be a blank space. You get this, and it's payable the fifteenth of each month, whatever it is. But you have a standardized contract that this is what you sign. Now can I enforce that to say you must play in the bowl game. What if you just go to a bowl game and you sit on the sidelines in your street clothes. You're still there with your team. You haven't gone to your new team. But I'm not going to hold this against a Heisman Trophy candidate that you did what you did and it's an award based on the regular season. Doug in North Carolina, Good morning, Doug. What's on your mind today?

Mark guest Snow is on my mind this morning? And did you see the video that was released yesterday about Mark SnO and Brett Farv?

I did? I did see that.

Yeah, it's he For those who didn't, he's Brett Parkers at a sports memorabilia show and Mark SnO confronts him about taking a dive from the Michael strahansack that took a record away from Mark SnO. And his point is not without merit. I think if you remember the play, it's pretty clear that Farv took a dive. But I watched that my heart broke because he just struck me as another example of one of these guys that the NFL kind of chews up and spits out and he's now kind of forgotten about. And it was just sad to watch. But I'm wondering if you agree with him that he's really the sack leader.

Well, TJ Watt, he tied Michael Strahan. So if we're going to get into detail semantics here TJ. Watt is has same number what twenty two and a half Michael Strahan did Brett Farv on purpose try to get Michael Strahan that sack? Yes, I do believe then, and this was Mark Gastineau's identity. And I covered the Jets now from afar, but I covered the Jets in the mid eighties, and I was around Gastoneau and Cleco and I mean, you name it. I was there with them, and I knew what it meant to Mark with the New York sack exchange, one of the great nicknames ever, and it was important to Mark. And I see Mark now and I do worry about where he is and what football has done to him. But it does break your heart to realize this was his this is his whole identity is I could have been the single season sack leader and I can run the numbers and we'll do this in a little bit. You're hard pressed to find somebody who had a better six year window than Mark Gastineau when it comes to sack. And he's not in the Hall of Fame. And I think when you see him confront Brett Farv, and Farv is like, well, hey, Mark, and then he realizes it's not a Hey Mark, it's a Hey Mark. And Mark is going to let him know that he kind of broke his heart, is what he's saying. And I understand it. I understand it now. I don't think Brett said, oh, I don't like Mark Gastonou I like Michael Strahan. I'm going to gift rap a sack so it can be the all time leader. But you can tell what it meant to Mark in that moment. It crushed him and he's trying to be the good guy when he goes to that game when Strahan gets the sack and he's hugging him on the sidelines, and I don't know if he realizes that he's really giving away his identity.

How is the single season sack guy?

Farv had to go out of his way, and we'll play that with Mark Gastineau. It's a thirty for thirty on the New York Sack Exchange. But Farv realizes that this is not pleasure, this is business when Mark Gastineau confronts him.

So have that for you. Coming up a little bit later on, We'll take a break eight.

Seven seven three DP show More phone calls coming up next hour, the guy who did kind of take his shot, Shoot a shot with Megan Markle, Ryan Masilo. He'll stop by as well. David Arkansas, Dave, welcome back.

They call me Pittsburgh Dave, and I want to send a shout out to my root hog Razorbacks last night a big win over Michigan. Gotten that one out. But I've got a big question on NFL officiating.

Now.

A couple of years ago, before this has really started, the whole argument was we don't want a sky judge. We don't want somebody looking over all shoulders in changing calls. We don't want that. Now all you're hearing is thanks to expertided review. Due to expertised review, they're changing them and everybody's fine with it. What caused the flip flop?

Well, wait a minute, I was in favor of the sky judge. I don't have a problem with it.

I just want to make sure that it's done and it used to be instant replay. We don't call it instant because it's not instant. I just want to make make sure that we expedite it. If you have somebody whose job is to look and help these officials and get it right, and we have the technology and we're willing to use the technology, then why don't we use it. I'm okay with that. I want to make sure that you have the same number of cameras at each game, because there are some games that aren't marquee games and you don't have the same number of camera angles. You're the NFL, You're worth billions and billions and billions of dollars. Have the same level playing field for everybody, and I think we all benefit from that. There's so much attached to gambling, fantasy, just your favorite team rooting for them. You have to get it right now. You have to.

You have the technology.

I have no problem with an overhead camera if it helps the officials. Moe in Arizona, Good morning, Moe, Welcome back.

More.

Dan Dannetz, this total things finally over because Dodgers didn't really need him. Why mess up to chemistry?

If it ain't broke, don't.

Fix it anyway, got a pie of the face bet. I think more Niners still have a chance to win the division.

Well, they have a chance, But so you're are you calling that the Niners are going to win the division?

Mo?

Come on, Marvin, Well, Marvin is a Niner fan. You're not going to bet against you.

Oh you want?

Oh?

Okay, you want Marvin on your side? Does anybody want to He's a moe in Arizona. He has the Niners winning the division. No takers, mom, We're not haters. We're saying that they have a really good chance to win. We would be if we took the bet, we would be hater.

Yeah. Yeah.

You never get credit for being aker. You always get blamed for being a hater. Eric and Wisconsin. Good morning, Eric, what's on your mind today?

Hey?

Good morning gentlemen. Hey goot comment for Fritzy Trichy. You got to slow down when you talk, man, you be scaring me. You talk so fast?

An't that?

I think you're gonna have a golden cardiac arithma? Back there, man, it's take a breath. When do you breathe? So and slow down? And Dan the question for you guys. I think Minnesota is going to make a grave mistake if they're at Donaldson walk off the door for nothing. I think they should franchise for at least this year if they can get a trade for But you think the grass is greener on the other side. With a rookie that hasn't played a down in the NFL and you got a quarterback that's got you eleven wins. A lot of teams in the NFL right now would give their right leg for eleven wars.

Man all right.

I don't think they're gonna let Sam Darnold go. I don't think it would be the right thing to let him go. And just all of assume JJ McCarthy is able to play at this kind of level. You have a team that has a eleven wins. It's not like you're growing in like the Chicago Bears with Caleb Williams JJ McCarthy coming back from an injury, and who knows what the Vikings are going to do, how many wins they're going to have, how far they go in the playoffs. But if I'm Sam Darnald, this might be my best chance to get that big deal. I would have no problem franchising. I don't know what that would cost. But Paul, he'll look that up because.

He's a veteran. Sam Darnald, if he was a one year franchise tag would get almost forty million dollars for one season.

I'm fighting with that.

I would probably say, let's how about a two Now, it doesn't mean he's going to accept it, but I would say, how about a two year deal for eighty million, sixty guaranteed?

Just throw out numbers here.

Then you have the insurance there if you and you don't say to JJ McCarthy coming off knee surgery, you got to be ready to go, and he's not going to be ready to go, even physically if you're ready to go, he's still got to learn on the job here, and you're learning on the job with the team that could end up with thirteen wins this year in the regular season.

So I would keep Sam Darnold.

He's in a great position his age, with these numbers, with this team, I'd keep him. I'd do my best to make sure that I had him at least for the next two years. Darren in Texas, Hi, Darren, what's on your mind?

Hey? Yeah, Dan?

My question?

You know, all hope that Texas wins this next game against Clemson, But what if they lose? Do they go to a bowl game beyond that? Or is that the end of their season? And if they do go to a bowl game?

No, No, that that's it. You're done now. Now you're in the playoffs. Yeah, there's It's not like you lose in NCAA tournament March madness and then you get to go to the NIT.

You lose seasons over all, the bowl games are set. It's not like they go, uh.

Can we make way for Texas anywhere? They already got this all planned out. Cindy in North Carolina, Hi, Cindy, Hi.

And good morning. So my question is, and I realized that wide receivers have you know, we've had divas in wide receiver position for a long time, but this year seems particularly bad. And I kind of liken it to a little shop of horrors with feed me seymore. And you know, at what point does that become a distraction. I mean, you have Devo Samuel who posted something and then took it off of Twitter, and we have the whole situation in Philadelphia, we have George Pickens situation, my team, the Dolphins, Tyreek and you know Jalen. There's that he Tyreek called Jalen a diva. So there's all of this, At what point does it impact, like the level of.

Place We're going to find out, Cindy in Philadelphia, because that seems to be a real issue between quarters back and wide receiver, debo posting and then saying, hey, you read what you read? Hey, every one of these guys. This has been going on for decades now. It's not just now they all want the ball. They all think they're open. The question is how are they going about that message being sent? So instead of something in a house where you go to the coach or you go to the quarterback or both. Now it's social media that's the problem. When it gets out now all of a sudden, we consume it. Now something that should be behind closed doors is out in the open. Philadelphia's got an issue here. I got a real issue here. Hour two on the way
