Hour 1 - The Thunder Win It All

Published Jun 23, 2025, 5:16 PM

Dan Patrick talks about the 2025 NBA Champion Oklahoma City Thunder, how they could or could not form the next great NBA dynasty, Tyrese Haliburton's unfortunate injury in Game 7, and more!

You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Hope you had a great weekend. Everybody, Gang's all here, ready to go. Hour one Dan and the Dan Ege Dan Patrick Show. The Minister of Humor, Fritzie, he got Seaton, Marv Paulie, yours truly and of course the back room guys. Congratulations to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The best regular season team, the best postseason team. But the Pacers held on for dear life. They pushed it to seven games. But the Tyree's Halliburton injury was tough to overcome. We talked about it when he injured his calf, and you'll see this that the calf injury and the possibility of an achilles injury. We talked about that last week. Unfortunately it came to fruition and you couldn't help but think of Kevin Durant when he got off to a hot start and then he blew out his achilles a few years ago. But Tyrese Haliburton will remember an incredible postseason run. Also, Shay gilgis Alexander not many. This is rarefied air. When you put him in there with Michael and Shack. When you're going to be the regular season MVP scoring champ. You're going to win an NBA title Finals MVP. And he did it in an effortless way. He did it in an old school way. Now I say old school because he doesn't rely on the three point shot. He'll beach off the dribble. He's capable of scoring on three different levels. But he was efficiently brilliant in the NBA Finals. We'll get to your phone calls, best and worst of the weekend. What you saw that you liked you didn't like? Eight seven to seven to three DPCE Show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at dp show. Chris Mannix from Sports Illustrated will join us from Oklahoma City. Gilbert Arena's former NBA All Star. We'll join us. We'll talk about the Kevin Durant trade that happened yesterday.

We have a Play the Day poll question stat of the Day.

Stat of the Day has always brought you by Panini America, the official trading cards of The Dan Patrick Show, and for over forty years, ty Iraq has been helping you find the right tires on how and what and where you drive ship fast and free back by Free Road hazard protection, convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. We saw that on display last week here in the Mancave tire rack dot com. The way tire buying should be. All right, Seaton poll question for hour one is going.

To be what, well, I've got something that could be considered a sign of the apocalypse or just very bad news for.

Two people here?

Okay, Paul and Todd have both submitted the same pole question.

O man, what happened to Paul? That's right?

Is Todd coming up or is Paul going down? I can't really tell Paul.

What's the possibility of both questions being good?

That's for you to decide that. All Righty, the NBA Finals was memorable for dot dot dot. Uh, Well, let's see, Paul. Options were the first title of this young OKC team, SGA cementing himself as a superstar, Pacers fight, Halliburton's injury or nothing or nothing? Yes Todd's suggestions where the sitter the Oklahoma City winning their first ever title, SGA being named the MVP, Halliburton's injury, or Kevin Durant getting traded to this from the Suns to the Rockets.

Hmm with no local ties. I would say Tyree's Halliburton's injury. I think his playoff performance leading into the NBA Finals and he gave them hope. SGA was you know, brilliant, and he also had a you know, a Game seven that we haven't had in a long time. You know, twenty nine and twelve assists. First player to reach those numbers in game seven of an NBA Finals you have to go back to nineteen seventy when Wald Fraser went for thirty six and nineteen. I just think the injury with Halliburton because of all the big shots that he had leading into the finals, that he gave them hope, and hope went down and didn't get back up last night. So I would say, in ten years from now, let's put it that way. How about we put a window on this. Ten years from now, when we look back on this year's NBA Finals, it's probably going to be Tyrese Haliburton will remember because of the injury, how they had played, they forced at game seven. Okay, see was the best team, but I think what the Pacers did created more headline conversation than what Oklahoma City did.

Yeah, I think how we remember this Finals is dependent on how both of these teams do the next three years.

If we go right back to after this.

Year, if next year we go back to some sort of like return cycle of you know, Warriors, Lakers, Celtics, you know, whoever win, then don't I don't know what we're going to really remember from this one, but if the Pacers go on to be greater or the Thunder going to keep being greater, it's going to shape how this one is remembered.

But also keep in mind Tyrese Haliburton will probably be out all next year, so you know his impact is going to be felt next year because he won't be able to play. Jason Tatum not able to play for the Celtics next year, probably not, so factor those in and how that shapes the East because the East is really really wide open now, and we don't even know if Jannis is going to stay in Milwaukee like all of a sudden, Orlando, the Cavaliers, obviously Garland's having toe surgery, but they would be the favorites. The Knicks, you know, once again, would be in the in the in the conversation there. But if you don't have Tatum and you don't have Halliburton, and those are the best players on the on the best teams right now. East is wide open. That's where Yannis might go. H maybe can you help me out a little bit here? Can you give me something here in Milwaukee. But we'll talk to Chris Mannix about this, because I think Mannix gets the feeling that Jannis, if he's going anywhere, would end up in San Antonio. But Kevin Durant ending up with Houston. You know that Cleveland was in this. I'm told at the last minute, like there were teams going, hey, we know you got to trade him. What's it going to take? And I think the Knicks made another run out. Everybody was kind of like circling it was. It was a open secret that Durant was going to be traded, and the question was where's he going to be traded? And it was going to be this week because the draft is coming up on Wednesday night.

But we'll talk about that.

With Durant being traded and Houston, I thought did pretty well here.

You can look at the draft picks.

I don't look at the draft picks the way I used to because it just feels like, eh, and we'll give you a I don't know how many second round picks you want?

You want four?

You won five, go ahead, take whatever you want. And Jalen Green, it's weird to be what is he twenty three and he averaged you know, over I think he might have averaged twenty three points a game. He didn't do well in the postseason, and I think there was concern with Houston that maybe he is not that number one guy. Phoenix Suns are a mess. They really are, and they you know, it's not just one year. I mean they've been consistent in being a mess because you get Bradley Beal. I can only warn these owners in GMS so often. If they're not going to listen to me, then it's on them. Get a new owner. Matt Eshmia, former walk on at Michigan State. All of a sudden, you start making decisions. You bring in Durant. You gave up a lot to get Durant. Devin Booker. I don't are you building around Devin Booker? Like it feels like who is anybody going to pass the ball on that team? Bradley Beal, Devin Booker and Jalen Green. I don't like that. I don't like that at all. But when I saw it. I go all right, Durant goes to Houston. I like the roster. M a Udoka, the head coach, just got a contract extension. It's a young team, but now you have a closer. Now you got a guy can go get you a bucket, and that's going to make them extremely dangerous. It's a young team, aggressive team, good defensive team, and now you got a guy crunch time who can get you a bucket. Now, granted he's thirty seven, but his game is not really predicated on jumping high or moving fast. Just feels like he gets to spots and he will kill you. But from the perspective of the Rockets, I like what they did because it's now now they're trying to win a championship where Phoenix, Phoenix is going to have to take the wrecking ball, and.

I can you can't trade Bradley Beal.

Imagine Lebron and Bradley be are the two guys who don't have no trade classes.

So yeah, you have Bradley Beal and.

Devin Booker and Jalen Green and I don't know the ghost of Steve Nash there, yes, Marvin.

The crazy part is the Suns were in the finals in twenty twenty nine. No, I know how things change so fast with a young Devin Booker. If you're thinking when they got to the finals, oh, we'll be back. That's the scariest part about getting to the finals. You don't know which way it's going to go.

Yeah, you know.

I brought up this calf issue thing because Dame Lillard and Jason Tatum both told Gilbert Arenas that they had calf injuries before they told their tore their achilles, and that's what happened with Tyree's Haliburton.

And that's why I wondered, can you put him out there?

I know he wants to be out there, but you have he has to know that there is a risk that you're going to you're gonna tear your achilles. Tatum and Dame Lillard both had calf injuries and then they tore their achilles, and that's what happened with Tyre's Haliburton. Also, don't wear the number zero, Dame Lillard zero, Jason Tatum zero, Tyre's Halliburton zero. Yikes, who else is wearing zero? We got to give them a heads up. Christian Brown, be careful. Well, Okay, if he wears zero. Sure. All righty, so the poll question, what are we going to remember seeing any other poll question for the first hour of the program.

Yeah, we got one more here for you. Okay, bigger mistake trading SGA, Trading the Sonics.

Well, that owner wanted to move them to Okay C. Yeah, so I get that.

But you go back to when Shay Gilgis was traded. Now Sam Presty Oklahoma City GM insisted that SGA was going to be in the deal, and I think the Clippers were trying to hold on to him. He finished sixth in the Rookie of the Year ballot, and he averaged only twelve points a game. Anybody who said, well I saw this, I think he might be lying, because that felt like, all right, you take Paul George, take his contract.

What are you going to give us in return?

And they had accumulated so many draft picks there in Oklahoma City, and all of a sudden, you know, I watched Shay Gilgis at Kentucky.

I can't tell you.

I remember one play that he had kind of like the way he plays nowhere you go, I think I can score. I mean, he was just another Kentucky player, Hey, you can score, Okay, can get to the hoop. I didn't think, oh my god, that guy's gonna be He's going to do something that is in rarefied air with Kareem and Shaq and Michael Jordan. Imagine that you're on that list and he did it. I don't think anybody saw that coming, that he would be this great. But this, you know, this has been a process, like five six years to get to this point. Remember chat Holmgren. As soon as they got him, he got hurt in that summer All Star game that he was playing in. He's had a hip injury. He's obviously injury prone here. But you're getting guys and you're going, Okay, nobody wants Alex Caruso. We'll take him. Lou Dort, who Jalen Williams who? I mean, come on, guy went to Santa Clara. That's where you look at scouting, That's where you look at what you do and you know down in the lab, and that's what Okac has done a wonderful job. And it starts with Sam Presty. I think he took over. He was twenty eight years of age when he was a GM And now what is he forty seven? Still young for that job? But you know this is why when we talk about the Lakers that you get new ownership. Now you can't go out and just buy whoever you want, but they're going to help the infrastructure of the Lakers scouting. I mean that that's where you beef up. And you know that's what OKAC has done. It did a wonderful job and should be commended for finding those players who do fit in.

Now.

The key for OKC as we move forward is shay Gilgess is probably going to get a contract that's going to pay him eighty million dollars a year. Just start there now. Is Chad Hombern going to take less? Is Jalen Williams going to Is anybody taking less? To stay again to win a championship? As a former NBA champion once told me, once I got my ring, I wanted my money. That's what happens. I got my ring, now I want my money. Look at what happened with the Nuggets, those guys, bench players, they got their ring, then they wanted their money. It's a natural evolution when you're trying to keep these teams together, that's what you have to have in place. Is there a commonality that, hey, let's do that, Let's continue to do this. We're having fun, we're the best team, we're young, we have plenty of time to make plenty of money. It sounds altruistic, but it doesn't happen that way. Guys are gonna leave, Guys are gonna want their money. I understand it. Natural evolution here, All right, phone calls, we'll get to those eight seven to seven three DP. Show operator Tyler's sitting by. Say good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. We'll settle on our pull question. Get him pulling.

Ignore that fool.

Listen to the Tony Fusco Show on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts.

He's still moving.

Shay Gilgis, Alexander joins Kareem, Michael, and Shack the only players to lead their team best regular season record in the NBA lead the NBA in scoring regular season MVP Finals MVP in the same year. Jordan did it three times, Kareem and Shaq did it once. That's the category. That's the grouping that Shay Gilgis Alexander has joined, also with Jalen Williams, and I know they're trying to make this a Jordan Pippin combo. Slow Down, Slow Down, But Shay Gilgis and Jalen Williams combined to score three hundred and seventy seven points, sixth most by any duo in NBA history, The most sense Kyrie and Lebron combined for three ninety eight back in twenty sixteen. Stat of the day, stat of the day, that best stat of the day, stat of the.

Day here comes that what stat of the.

Day here is Shay Guilder just Alexander on his historical season.

It's hard to believe that I'm part of that group. It's hard to even fathom that I'm that type of basketball player. Sometimes as a kid, you dream, and every kid dreams, but you don't never really know if it's going to come true. And I'm just glad and happy that my dreams have been able to come true. And that's a thank you to everyone that's been in my corner. That's how me get here. I wouldn't be able to done without them. They know exactly who they are, so yeah, it's a win for the family.

He's a very thoughtful guy, he really is.

And he's what twenty five, twenty six and you know he went over and checked on Tyrese Haliburton.

He's very mature.

I mean you get that sense when when you listen to him, you see him how he reacts with his teammates. He has a great wherewithal presence. He reads the room really well, all right, best and worst of the weekend. Gus Gus from La joins his starting things off.

Hi, guys, good more than mister Patrick. I hope you and the boys had a great weekend. All right. Best of the weekend. It was the birthday weekend. So anytime that you know, you get shown a lot of love that's for you being you is a great week great weekend. Worst of the weekend. You know, I'm not trying to downplay this, And congratulations to Oklahoma City Thunder and their fan base and all the deserved people in the organization.

But but but.

You know, we always hear whenever the Lakers or like you know, like the Miami Heat, a big market team is in it. Everyone's always like, when's the little guy going to get the shot? Get a small market in their small market teams matter. This was a small market Finals viewership was down about twenty percent with the ratings, and it kind of seems you mentioned it last week when the Lakers sale was announce You never want to announce big news during the NBA Finals. You don't allow that to overshadow the finals. And we had not one, but two stories with Kevin Durant being traded before Game seven. Now, I get Kevin Durant was into the career, but still big story.

Did the NBA itself kind of be like, eh, you know, it's.

Small market finals. Anyway, you boys have a great week.

You gots take care of Thank you, Gus.

In fact, as soon as it happened with Durant being traded and then Marvin sent me a TEXI goes, how do you think David Stern would have reacted to this in previous years? He wouldn't have been happy. But somebody broke the story on the Lakers, and you know Sham's you know, broke the story. Maybe that wasn't supposed to come out until this week, but you know, the Durant trade, we knew it was going to happen. Maybe somebody broke that ahead of schedule, but it had to happen, you know, today or tomorrow with the draft coming up, it would feel like you would want to know where you stand with your draft picks.

But yeah, I was surprised.

And if we have the Commissioner on again anytime soon, I'll ask him about that because he was there with David Stern. He worked with David Stern, And I know for a fact that David Stern did not want any news during the NBA Finals other than the NBA Finals. He told me that point blank one time, Patrick, no other news. I said, well, what if somebody break? Patrick, no other news? I said, all right, so lo and behold. Bowles end up winning. And I was on SportsCenter after the game and we had breaking news that the Orlando Magic had a new head coach. And I heard from David Stern after that. Patrick, I go, it wasn't my story. I thought, I told you, I go, Alderdge broke the news. Yes, point I do want to go counter on this a little bit.

Everyone on social media saying it's oh the NBA, it's bad for the NBA to lose focus on the finals. They didn't lose one ratings point because of the Lakers story or the Kevin Durant story. It's actually possible they gained ratings points because you may tune into the NBA coverage to hear about the Lakers sale or hear about the Durant trade. So maybe a casual, casual fan or a fan of the Suns may say, I'm going to see what they say on the pregame show or whatever may be. They didn't lose one ratings point because of these side stories.

Oh I'm sure the Mothership loved this because they had something other than you know, the thunder and the pacers to talk about that you had other stories that more people would be interested in. I mean the Kevin Durant story that felt like that was front burner for the last ten days on ESPN, like they were almost praying, begging, wishful reporting to get him to the Knicks and then all of a sudden, well it might be san Antonio might be huge. Jon Uh, Well the Knick should still be in you know, involved in them. But here is Kevin Durant yesterday about being traded.

No people could just hang your career in the balance like that and just choose what they want to do with your careers and nerve record feeling, but being able to kind of dictate what you want to do and then being with a team that values you and I'm.

Looking forward to it having people are going to hold on to that dictate what you want to do.

Did you have a handle this most definitely?

I mean they actually get where I wanted to go, some of my destinations I gave it to him.

Man, here we are.

That's Kay Adams asking Kevin Durant at the Fanatics Fest yesterday in New York yes morning.

I was there with Maria yesterday and as soon as the news dropped, everyone wait, wait, wait, wait.

Do you stop this?

Kevin Kevin Hart stopped his interview.

You guys see this.

And he talks about Kevin Durant and stops his interview with some other celebrity. I don't know who it was, but it shut everything down yesterday. Yeah, with all these celebrities, and he was there, and Kevin dury was in the building and everyone runs over to where he's at just to kind of get the news and get first of all, he found out with Taylor Rooks and then Caves does an interview with him after that, just to get his reaction, and they were like, oh, did you know. He's like, yeah, I just didn't know when, but I knew I was going to get traded.

Uh.

Jeff in Massachusetts, Hi Jeff, what's on your mind today?

Hey?

Dan?

First time, long time six three, feisty one seventy. I got a fast and worst of the weekend and a quick father advice for you if I may, so, I have a newborn son. I work as a teacher, first full week off of school, so I got to enjoy that. That was the best part. With the newborn. We went out to get your book. We were going to stop at two different libraries, get his card, get my card, everything signed up. They didn't have your book at one where they said, so we decided to go to a third one. And on the lay to the third one to get your book, the car broke down, so I was stuck in ninety degree weather on my effort to get the Dan Patrick's book. So that was definitely the worst of the weekend. We did successfully get it, so hopefully this is worth the read. My expectations are very high now. And the question I have is just, you know, in general, what would be a good piece of advice you think I could give for my son just moving forward, you know, for when he gets older, starts sports, about just focusing on, you know, the big picture of everything. I know that's a kind of a grand one, but I figure you can you know, you know everything well.

By the way, Jeff, send send the book here self, address, stamped envelope.

And all autograph that for you as far. I mean, that's a big question.

I would say, just focus on being a good person, doing good things. I always tell my kids it doesn't cost anything to be nice. Wherever you go, Oh, you say something to somebody, you help somebody, you ask somebody, whatever it is, doesn't cost anything to be nice. And I would focus on that. If something's so simple, but it'll take you a long way. Craig and fort Wayne. Hi, Craig, what's on your mind today?

Good morning? Dan, Dat's happy Monday question this morning? As an NBA GM and you look at the Pacers out of the East as they beat New York, Cleveland, Boston. They all had a front five, but not.

A back five.

And in the West Oklahoma instead of beating Minnesota, Dallas and the Lakers, they all had star power.

Do you invest in.

Your front five or your second five if you truly want to win a championship in the NBA today?

Thanks, Well, you still have to have your marquee guys. I mean, Denver could have a great bench, but if you don't have Joker there or Jamal Murray, you're not going to win a title. You still have to have Chad holmgrun An SGA now you might lose lou Dort, you might lose a couple of these peripheral players, but are you able to keep those guys on the bench. The guys on the bench are the ones who want money. They're the ones that's like, hey, we're not starting, but we want to go someplace where we can start. You know, Gabe Vincent wants money. Hey, I wont my title, now I want my money. Yeah, and you have a finite amount of time to earn this money. Okay, I win another championship, what does that mean?

Or I win a third?

Okay, but I'm not the star. I want to go where I can play. I want to go where I can make money and if we happen to win, great. I mean that's where players wanted to go to New England. They wanted to go win a championship and then leave. But a lot of those guys that already made their money, but they wanted to have that ship. Okay, see is a young team. I'm looking at their draft picks that they have. So they have two first round picks this year courtesy of the Heat and the Clippers twenty six. They have a top four protected pick from Philadelphia. Wow, they have a top eight protected pick from Utah in twenty twenty six. They have their own pick in twenty twenty six. Twenty twenty seven, they have a top four protected pick from Denver. They have another pick swap with the Clippers. They twenty twenty eight, they have a swap with Dallas. They own their twenty twenty nine pick, their twenty thirty pick, they're twenty I mean wow, So just imagine they end up with that Philadelphia pick, because Philadelphia is probably not going to be very good, and then you might be kind of reinvesting in your roster with somebody from the outside coming in, and maybe you don't keep some of these players, but you got to. You got to keep the core the best you can do. Keep the core. It's just how do you fill in the rest of that gray area?

Yeah, Paul, Yeah, this summer, okay, see, won't lose anybody from that core. The twenty twenty six offseason, lou Dort they have a team option, Hartenstein a team option. The tough ones are Chet Holgrin and Jaylen Williams are restricted free agents next summer. Going back to grabbing players for your bench, they grabbed Isaiah Hertenstein from the Knicks. I remember he's that breakout all purpose player from the next They overpaid for him. They gave him three years eighty seven million Hartenstein last summer, and I was like, that's a lot of money for a rotation guy.

But look how it worked out. But he's a tough guy and he's what you want. He doesn't care.

He just sets picks, plays hard defense, rebounds. Those are the guys that are so invaluable, Like they go, don't worry about me. I'm fine with doing this Like Dennis Rodman, never need the ball, didn't care. It's like, I'll play defense in all rebound You guys take care of the other stuff.

Yes, Marvin, and I think Hartenstein his contract is a lesson to a lot of guys that are looking for a big contract. You could just say, hey, look at what Hartenstein's done. He's making thirty million dollars a year just by doing this really, really well. So you don't worry about stats, because we have people to do that. If you do your role really well, you'll get paid.

Andy and Rhode Island, Hi, Andy went Sonny Ryne, Good.

Morning, what's up Dan, Dan? What a great week I had just in Vegas, and I only have two best of you because it couldn't. I can't serve you with anything worse. So started off on my way to Vegas last Sunday. They're lo and behold right behind me de Hop DeAndre Hoppon, and it was so cool. You know, I didn't fanboy him.

I was now be hop play.

I can look at it, and I knew the guy and so nice, humble guys, and to my surprise, me and him both the same height, and I was like, oh okay, so I can you know, shape.

Up with these guys.

And my second best leaving.

Wills Vegas yesterday been a simple twenty dollars play in the Frankens Sigh Machine. I had a jackpot of ten thousand dollars, came home a happy man, and it took me back to Ocean's eleven when Brad Pitt Perfaly put coins inside the flop machine walked away. The lady went up, put her coin in and hit the jackpot. It was so great because the entire time I was like, oh, what is the chance that you hitting something? And my fiancee, she was over there screen and having a great time. So I just had to share with y'all and I hope you guys continue to have a great week.

To stay cool, all right, Andy, sounds like Turtle from Entourage, sounds like Jerry Ferrara.

We had a good weekend, man christ and Syracuse.

Hi, Chris, Hey, Thanks Dan as always. Hey, I wanted to weigh in on the first pole you guys were chopping up a little bit talking about was what I'm going to remember about yesterday? And I think for me it's going to be the Durrant trade. You know, Houston's gone down this path like a lot of teams with whether it was with McGrady or Berkley.

And I don't know.

You mortgage your future for a one to two year window, and you know you look at like this year, all the top teams in the West, Oklahoma City, Denver, Minnesota, Houston, and then the East, the Knicks, Pacers, Boston, Cleveland, none of them have an eightying star on them. And I just think that formula does not work.

Okay, I mean you're running a risk with Durant. This is his fifteen be thirty seven. He did average twenty six, but having I want him to kind of have a strategic twenty point score. Like, he doesn't have to give me twenty six, twenty seven. I want him to be strategic. When we need you, we can go to you and let those young guys. Sometimes when you bring in somebody late in their career, you know, you stump the growth of the younger players. I hope that that nucleus is able to continue to evolve and then Houston's going to be formidable. But we talked about this during the postseason. Sometimes you're on a field trip when you're a young team, You're like, oh, let's go, We're going to go to the Museum of Modern Art. Okay, We're just going to walk around and look at things and then go back home. And then other times you become the art. You become what other people want to come and watch instead of we're just doing a field trip.

Here.

You get into the playoffs, you get knocked out, and you go, Okay, we're going to learn from this. Okay, see learn from this. Now Houston has to learn from this. Houston has to go, Okay, we were really good during the regular season and we can go toe to toe, but in a seven game series, who are we? That's what you need to find out. And then you can count on people, Okay, see New certain times, certain situations, you can count on him.

You know.

Caruso was wonderful in his role, lou Dort wonderful in his role. Chad Holm, like all of them understood their role, but they had been in these situations. Even Caruso, he won a title in the bubble, had this to say after winning last night.

The championship is a championship, but there were seventy people in the gym when you won your first one.

How much better does this one feel?

Yeah?

Now I got a real one. I don't know if you can say anything.

Yeah, I think just because of the way the team is constructed now versus the team I had in twenty twenty, Like it was much harder with this team just because of the experience.

Yeah, that's the key. But Caruso winning a title in the bubble now, as he said, I got a legitimate one coming up our play of the day after this. Thanks for listening to The Dan Patrick Show podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday morning nine until noon eastern sixty nine Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, and you can find us on the iHeartRadio app, at FSR or stream us live on the Peacock app.

Oh my God.

Of the day. This is the play of the day.

Check this out.

They kick the pitch, swinging a hard ground ball fair on the first baseline and a scar as Kim Conforto right behind him. Here comes Dalton rushing around second and on his way to third with a.

Basis clearing triple.

This is so hel Tony and.

The Dodgers lead at seven to three.

Here's a random stat show.

Hey, o Tani has ten career games with both a triple and a home run. Among active players, only one player has more career games with a home run and a triple. I'll buy your lunch if you can guess this player active player, no hints, nothing, Marvin, you got anybody.

Josh Chisholm, Paul, Mike Trout. I gotta buy you lunch.

Mike Trout has fourteen games. I don't know if you're getting the support you should with a great poll like that.

I it was my first thought, but I was like that it has to be trot so the way you teased it, I thought it has to be sewing deep cut.

Had an NBA quiz.

I don't know what said quiz is because Paul is the host of the NBA Quiz game.

Here we go, Okay, Kevin Durant is being traded to the Houston Rockets, which will be his fifth team. We do not count Seattle and okay, see has two different teams, so he'll be on his fifth team. He's going to be a Hall of Famer. Clearly the most teams an NBA Hall of Famer has played for in his career. I need the name of the person and the amount of teams. I'm gonna make Marvin go last, because Marvin is usually good at these NBA games.

Who would I go first? Seton, I'm gonna say Vince Carter.

He played for.

My official number is a gajillion teams.

You're off on the number, but Vince Carter is correct.

Good poll.

Seedon's a big Vince Carter guy.

He should be the answer to every good polk question. Is Vince Carter or when it's not him, it's Allan Iverson.

He had a season where he played four games for Sacramento, which put him over the top among the Hall of Famers who played for seven teams, Adrian Dantley, Bob McAdoo, Chauncey Phillips, Dwight Howard and Moses Malone Mosses.

All right, that's your NBA quiz. Buy seat lunch too, all right, I'll buy seat and lunch.

Yes.

Marshall in South Carolina, Good morning, Marshall. What's on your mind today?

Hi, Datane, what's happening man? Let's see five twelve one eighty five. Guys. I had a traumatic brain injury in April of twenty twenty three and I've been homebound since then. And I just want to say thank y'all. I'll listen to y'all or watch y'all every single morning, and y'all are the best part of my day and I really appreciate it.

Well, thank you, Marshall. Glad that we can hopefully put a smile on your face.

And is there a.

Part of the show that you really like, or a favorite Dan end that you really like.

Marshall in Fritzy, the Minister of Humor always has interesting things to say. But I'm a long time listener and I just all SAT of the Day. I mean, that's classic. I've been trying to write my own SAT of the Day jingle, but I'm a little slow with my head in jury.

So take your time. Take your time.

You got two and a half years, Okay, and thank you for the phone call Marshall.

Yes, John, No, that's a sweet sentiment.

I'm glad he looks forward to the shows. It's always great when you hear those kind of uplifting things. That's something we're saying or doing Mix of your day bet when they're going through some tough times.

Okay.

That always makes me figure.

Not a lot of jobs offer that in careers where you can affect people like that on a daily basis.

So that's pretty awesome.

Well, thank you, Ton Seaton. Would you update the poll results?

Sometimes Fritzy is like a chat GPT response to it.

Yeah, I think, yeah, Like I didn't necessarily need that, but I didn't.

I just I know, I just.

Wanted to share. I had a little emotional moment there when I hear those things.

Yeah, it just feels like that's what a computer would spit out, like minimum kindness.

It does take the sensitivity away from what I was trying to share.

But it's okay, it's all right.

You just were ready to say something and I didn't know what you were going to say.

To add to that, for.

The record, I was that was that was heartfelt from my head. I wasn't. I didn't google that and read like words from a.

Oh no, I could tell such thing. Yeah, I could tell Seaton, would you update the poll results in me? I would be happy too, Dan.

This NBA Finals was memorable for Oklahoma City's first title, SGA becoming a star, the Haliburton injury, or the Durant trade. Right now, Terry's Haliburton's injury has fifty four percent of that vote, followed by the Thunder's first title.

Yeah, I think it's it's Tyree's Halliburton. With everything that happened in the playoffs and certain with the injury, he had an incredible you know, when you start to look at this, both teams come away you know, we don't look you know, down upon the Pacers like they played hard, they were good vibes. You had a great storyline, that communal atmosphere that you had in Indianapolis, and it was great, and they went toe to toe. You went to a seventh game. You were the biggest underdog in the last twenty five years. A lot of positives there. You can only hope though, that Tyree's Haliburton is able to come back and be the player and add to the player that we saw, but probably going to miss half the year. That's the bummer with this because you're looking at it. You would have looked at Indiana a lot differently starting next season because then they're involved in the favorites. Now, I do have favorites for DraftKings. Just sent this to me, and I think you'll be surprised where the Pacers are on this list. That's called a tease. I'll tell you that coming up in about.

Buy you lunch for that tea teasers say.

Say it you kids out.

There, Yes, kids, that that's called a tease. One hour in the books, two more to go. Gilbert Arenas, one of our favorites, will join us coming up. More of your phone calls as well on This Monday, Dan Patrick's show
