Hour 1 – Dodgers on the Verge of a Sweep, A Good Night for the Steelers

Published Oct 29, 2024, 4:34 PM

Dan is impressed with Dave Roberts managing this postseason as the Dodgers take a commanding 3-0 lead over the Yankees in the World Series. And the Steelers had a good night and QB Russell Wilson shows why he got his starting job back.

You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio. It's our one this program. Come on in, stay awhile glad to have you on board. A lot to recap football from last night, or at least a reasonable facsimile. Look out for the Steelers. They're now six and two, no quarterback controversy. They rough up the Giants, the Dodgers, they beat the Yankees. They go up three games to none, and Freddie Freeman has done it again. Freddie Freeman the third player in baseball history to homer in each of his first three games of a World Series. Barry Bonds was the last to do it in two thousand and two. So if you're curious about the weather in the Bronx, it's probably going to be the same way it was last night. And you know, you start to look at the numbers of teams that go up three to zero in the World Series the odds of somebody coming back. So teams that fall behind three in the World Series are three and twenty one all time.

In Game four.

The last nine teams that fell behind O three or three to oh in the World Series have lost. The last time a team came back to win Game four after losing the first three the Cincinnati Reds in nineteen seventy Who now steat of a.

We have a poll question, Stats of the Day, Play of the Day, all of that coming up, and first pitch tonight, Dodgers at the Yankees for Game four. Now, I'm not saying it's over over, because I was there in four when everybody thought it was over over, and of course we know how that played out. Now, it's just a coincidence maybe that they are playing that Netflix documentary on the four Comeback.

It's going on right now.

In fact, one of the stars of that documentary, Kevin Malar, will join us a little bit later on. He's the one who gave us Cowboy up with those four Red Sox. Dave Roberts, the Dodger manager, with an interesting question after last night's win.

You're one of the few people on earth who know what it's like to come back from a three to zero deficit.

Don't talk about wrong guy way too early.

What do you remember about your mindset going into that, and what maybe did you learn from that that you can take into it now that you're on the other side.

I don't want to.

Divulge any secrets, but from the other side, I just think that we have got to stay focused, stay urgent. I think offensively, to be quite honest, we left a lot of runs out there tonight, still found a way to win a ballgame, and there's just got to be urgency. I just don't want to let these guys up for air.

And that's a great point to make because it helps that they've jumped out on top. When Freddie Freeman hits a home run on a one to two pitch and I'm thinking Wow, it gives you such an advantage. And Walker Bueller the way he pitched now, I go back to when he was like sixteen and four, he was top five cy young. Then he had a couple of Tommy Johns. But he said, look, I almost need to have things mentally be different for me to get up for a game like this. He said, you know, I don't like admitting this, but that's what it is. You get out there, you get caught up in it, your stake to you know, to lead and Freddie Freeman, you know, how about the Yankees. Don't throw the same pitch to Freddie Freeman because it feels like that inside part of the plate he's going to hit a home run. John Smold said, it like everything I'm gonna throw isay away away. He can go to first base if he wants. He's not going anywhere with a bad ankle. Let him go to first base. I don't want him trotting around the bases. But they're throwing the same pitch or at least the same location, and he's made them pay. So that's coming up tonight, first pitch at eight point eight Eastern with the Dodgers trying to close out the Yankees. It feels like there's two fan bases rooting for a sweep. Now, Baseball fans, I would love to see this go six or seven. The Dodger fans are rooting for a sweep, and the other fan base, the Red Sox, are rooting for a sweep. They would love nothing better to see the Yankees swept. And I, of course was there as a fan when the Cincinnati Reds swept the Yankees four to zero.

In the World Series in nineteen seventy six.

I'm not rooting for a sweep because I want baseball like baseball got its matchup. Baseball had a great year. I'd love to have more drama. But if you're a Dodger fan, hey, let's just win. Let's just win. You know, no COVID Championship, none of that. This is a true we won. We were the best team.

I didn't. You know, it's weird.

I didn't feel like we had a great team in baseball this year. Nobody's winning one hundred games, but the Dodgers figuring out how to use their pitching staff. Dave Roberts has done a wonderful job. In fact, if you said World Series MVP Freddie Freeman is your World Series MVP. Dave Roberts would be my second choice. I think he's done a wonderful job in the postseason. He's figured out who to use when to use them, and you're getting your starters. If your starter goes into the sixth inning, that's like a complete game now, and what a benefit to be able to help out your bullpen. The Yankees still trying to figure out, you know, who they're using, how they're using them. And then you got Aaron Boone who's always relying on analytics. Eight seven seven three DP Show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com, twitter handle at DP show. We'll talk about the Steelers. They beat the Giants. They're now six and two. We'll look at their schedule. Mike Golick, Big Michae will join us a little bit later on as well.

Seaton Poll. Question from our one is going to be, oh, we got many many options.

Okay, how about we start with this one foot tap twice should be old wow, a catch or impressive, but ultimately nothing. We're going to dive into this now. I don't know, we can save it for later. You want to hold you know what gold.

Let me let me hold onto this until next segment, because I want Paula to get me the rule, the wording on this, the word salad on this, because I would thought initially two feet in bounds is two feet I didn't know if you had to have a right foot and a left foot in I went Pauli to get to the official rule book there working at it.

Okay, yeah, see, how about a sweep in the World Series. Is incredible for the Dodgers or embarrassing for the Yankees?

Oh? Wow?

Can it be both?

Of course it can be both, But the fun is making you pick one.

I would say embarrassing for the Yankees.

Why doesn't it just show how dominant the Dodgers are.

Well, you have Soto who may get a six hundred million dollar contract. You got Judge and Stanton who have contracts over three hundred million. You got Garrett Cole who has two hundred and fifty million dollar contract. That would be embarrassing if you got swept. But you know, as we talked about yesterday, if if I take the big three out of the Yankee lineup, and by that I do mean Judge, Soto and Stanton, who else do they have? We talked about this during the season. I thought it was a poorly orchestrated lineup and it just felt like they were top heavy with Wow, look at those guys.

It's the other guys that help you win.

Every World Series that I can remember, it's always who's that guy?

Like I always think of Mark Lemke with the Braves.

He batted like four thirty two, and you're going, Lemmer is the best player out there. Sometimes it's that guy that you don't expect because you're so focused on the other guys. Well, you don't have to worry about With the Yankees so far, they haven't had that guy who stepped up from the eight or nine hole, And that's the difference. The Dodgers have people throughout the lineup. It's a better balanced lineup, and they have contributed. I think the general consensus was the Yankees had the pitching edge, but the Dodgers had the best or lineup. The Dodgers have both so far through three games. What else do you have, Seaton.

Who's having a better week? Freddy Freeman or the field?

Everybody? Yeah, m oh okay. Can I think of anybody other than Freddie Freeman on Earth who's had a better seven days.

Wow, Paul I had a name, but even just saying it's not even that close. Like Jameis Winston had a really nice week.

Now, no, we think of anybody that's a regular season game and he threw it.

He had two interceptions that they dropped.

Yes, Jane Daniel might have to play of the year in the NFL. He's had a pretty good week.

Okay, he had one play, which is really more luck than anything.

Oh, that's sorry.

Yeah, Freddie Freeman showed talent.

There that was armed talent that didn't that Daniel showed.

Is there is there a somebody out of sports who's.

Had a better seven days than Freddy Freeman.

Like some billionaire who acquired at oil company.

Or no, because then there's still a billionaire. It didn't change their life. Yes, Mark our boy had follow Ben Carol had fifty last night from my Orlando Magic. He had thirty seven in the first half, and then all of a sudden, I realized Klay Thompson had thirty three and a quarter one time.

How about that, Todd, you got a nominee here.

I like Jamis Winston.

I know I wouldn't put him ahead of Freddie Freeman, but that's a big deal of Brown's taking down the Ravens with a guy that was like a third string quarter.

Nobody cares a little bit of love. That's nobody cares about Jameis winsday.

Gigantic win for the Cleveland.

No, if you're the Browns, I don't think you want gigantic wins. I think you want, you know, disastrous losses. Here, Let's just you know, get a draft pick. Wait, are their draft picks still going to Houston? Or have they given up all their draft picks? So Freeman's got it over everyone on her.

I think everybody on earth so far.

I can't think of another person in the world who's having a good week.

Well better week, because I'm having a good week. I recovered from serious shoulder surgery. I'm here, I mean good spirits, and you know, half the audience didn't think I'd be here. So it's sort of a Freddie Freeman kind of performance here, not necessarily completely healthy, limping to the microphone just to be able to say I'm the luckiest man on the face of the earth.

Yes, I think your.

Neck and neck with Freddy froman you're healing quickly, and you dropped the bomb on us yesterday about the families.

Oh that's right, you know, going to be a grandfather again. So yeah, I've had a Freddie Freeman like right there. Yeah, Freddie Freeman.

Should hold your microphone up the way Freddie did with the scepter, with the bat to hold the microan.

I know that is a great pose though, really that that's almost like a statu pose. Yes, if you were going to do a Freddie Freeman statue, I would have him where the bat is up like a scepter. I did watch the Miami Heat pre game last night and it was about Dwayne Wade, and Dwayne Wade was on with our buddy Jason Jackson, and they're talking about the statue and Dwayne says, a statue doesn't.

Have to look like you.

I mean, I think they made it worse because they're trying to go, you know, a it's just a statue. It doesn't look like Dwayne Wade. But they're showing all these wonderful plays. And then he's up there pre game and he's talking about the statue and you're just going.

That doesn't look like you. That doesn't look like it.

Yes, Pauline is Freddie Freeman's week like positive, similar to the statue makers negative.

We don't know his name.

I didn't give it out. Found the name of the two people who made the statue, but I did not give it out yet.

I saw the process.

I saw the Miami Heat pregame show Man, you have a great life, Dan, You're right, I do. But you know, he's Dwayne Wade's there while they're making the statue. I don't know if anybody at any point go.

It doesn't look anything like him.

Did Dwayne bring up like a buddy with him, like they went with the wrong guy.

No, I don't think they went, oh you're Dwayne Wade. Oh come lait, Tommy, we thought you were Dwayne Wade.

Yes, I do like that.

The people who built it were like, yeah, well, no one in the world could have done better, so whatever, Yeah, like.

Yeah, best anybody could do. Sorry, this is it. This is the best it can be done. Yeah yeah.

But it makes me wonder about all these statues, you know, centuries ago, like did they capture like did did David really look like that?

Did you know? Did did he say after the fact, I don't know. I think I'm a little larger than that.

It was called in the room. Yeah, clearly called in that let's go.

Yes, And they didn't have gyms and workout equipment like that to get such abs.

I don't know.

Back in centuries ago, they.

Carried their stuff to their homes. Like when they went to get beef, they didn't have a shopping cart. They carried it to their homes.

That's pretty impressive for centuries ago and not tough to yoked up a gym.

I don't know when abs became a big deal.

And I'm being serious here, like it's almost like overnight where people had to have ass.

You see, I disagree, I bet you. Before fast food and stuff like this, back in the Roman days, everyone was.

Shredfast, but nobody said, hey, check out Dave's abs.

They they just that's how you looked.

Back then, it became like abs became something.

I don't know what happened.

They would have modeled it after real humans, like when you know.

But they didn't go, hey are you doing your crunches today, David? But now it's like, hey want to be shredded? Like you can even have cosmetic surgery for your abs?

ABS? Yes, yeah, absolutely, thank you, Tom.

I like that.

No, it's bad. That was bad. Yeah, but abs became a big deal for some reason. Yes, Marvin, Yeah, I.

Saw our friend Drake.

Drake's got abs.

He's got now he does? Okay, I was like, oh ripped.

Yeah, it became a big deal. Hold on, let me google that. Yeah he does, he does. He has apps.

Hold is Drake like thirty eight thirty nine?

Yeah, but you can have abs. Yeah, it's not.

It's just if you really want to have them, you just focus on that area. I just I don't remember it being a big deal when I was growing up. Have your shirt off. Nobody goes, where's your abs? They were like, all right, or your cut?

Okay.

I don't know how we got started on that, but uh, you know, that's typical of the show. So we'll settle on our pole question. Also, we'll play the game man, Did Blank need a game like that? A little bit later on and we will talk about the Pittsburgh Steelers TJ. Watt with a big night. Also the TD catch. But was it a TD catch because you got one foot in twice? Does that count as two feet? We'll look at the rule book there. We'll get phone calls. We got a lot of things talk about, and we'll get to all of that hopefully after this.

Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live.

We'll settle on our pole question, got to play the day? Coming up?

Your phone calls always welcome. Good night for the Steelers. Good night Now they beat the Giants. I know you can look at some of the teams they defeated, the Chargers, the Broncos.

Okay, I still want you to win those games. I know you don't.

Deserve extra credit because you beat them, but you still won the games that you're supposed to win. You're six and two right now. Now you've got a bye week at Washington. I mean, the schedule's really demanding. So you're at Washington, host Baltimore, at Cleveland, at Cincinnati, and then Cleveland, you host at Philly, at Baltimore, Kansas City, Cincinnati, so you go five hundred probably in the postseason. I don't know what Cincinnati is going to be playing for at the end of the season, but that rivalry there with the Steelers, you know, the Cleveland Cincinnati, Cleveland back to back to back.

Feels like they're going to lose one of those games there.

They're at Philly at Baltimore, they could lose both of those. They host Kansas City on Christmas, even at Washington after the bye week, and then Baltimore comes in. So it's heavy lifting there for the Steelers. But it was a big win last night. Here's Mike Tomlin talking about the TJ. Watt stripsack.

I'm not surprised by it, but it doesn't mean that it's not appreciated. I just come to expect it because he's got a unique talent. He's got a unique approach, and so usually that produces unique results with a really consistent tone to it, and usually at the most timely moments. And so you know, I think the new Steelers are shaking their heads. I think the guys that have been here kind of expected.

Yeah, they put pressure.

They put pressure pressure on Dandy Dimes and they sacked him four times, but they hit him twelve times. Quarterbacks will tell you the number of times you get hurried or you get hit. It's not the sacks. It's getting hurried or get hit after the play. During the play. That's where that'll take a toll on you. The Giants do have some talent there, and I did say at the beginning of the year, I thought they would be better than they were the previous year. And maybe they are, but I don't know if everybody survives there. You know, with the coach GM quarterback and when you start with the big three, the triple Crown there, you know that your franchise is in trouble. Coach, GM, quarterback, not necessarily in that order, but watching them last night, you know they have that feeling of they can stay in games. They're just not winning games. And Russell Wilson, this is what he adds that you didn't have with justin fields, the ability to be in the pocket and connect down the field. And you know, George Pickens had a touchdown catch in the first half. It was overruled because he got one foot in twice as opposed to two feet. Now I'm watching and Troy Aikman is saying, well, wait a minute, you got.

Two feet in.

Does it say in the rule book you must have your left and right foot in.

Yeah, This is from the official NFL rules to catch a pass. There's actually three parts of the rule. The player must secure the control of the ball in his hands prior to the ball touching the ground catching it. Second, touches the ground inbounds with both feet, or any part of his body other than his hands touches the ground inbounds with both feet. So both feet. You can't do one foot twice. Here's the issue though, If you have one knee in, that's a catch. Like let's say you caught it and landed on one knee. That's a catch. So one knee does equal two feet. Just like John Madden said forty years ago, the rule says any part of your body other one butt cheek, you only one butt cheek if you I'm not being facetious here, but it's two feet. You think that's fair.

But does it say butt cheek in the rule book.

The frame it's hyphenated no. But any other part of the body you only one heart in. But you need two feet when college you need one.

Yeah, I didn't have any problem that that to me, it's a touchdown. If you get tap tap, it's two feet. It's not you know, left in or right, but it is two feet now when they say both feet, that's how they get around the rule. But I thought give them credit to be able to do that because he couldn't get the other foot in because he was being knocked out of the end zone. But he got two feet, not left and right. So I guess that's the gray area here.

Yes, I kind of see why that would be frustrating, but it's one foot landed twice. Yeah, but I think the rule should stay exactly as it is, get your left end your right foot down. To me, if it's going to be the best league in the world and you're the elite athletes, it's supposed to be hard, so she should you should have to put both feet.

I think it's harder to get one foot down twice than it is two feet point.

Yes, well, it's more of like an anomaly, like how often would that happen? Probably almost never? How often does it happen? Almost never?

Yeah?

You know, yes, Marvin, Yeah, two stumps is only good for the Chachaw slide, not for the NFL.

Oh nice chu ch huss right, Okay.

And maybe acrobatic and athletic, but I think that you got to go with both feed that's like hopping twice.

That's like a hop player.

I'm gonna I would allow it, you know, overrule that is he hides upstairs.

Yes, a lot of people on the social media last night were both confused by it, and then when they realized what the rule was, they said, well, it's it's actually harder to do too with one foot.

Yeah, yeah, degree of difficulty there. All right, did we settle on a poll question?

Do we want to do?

We want to go with this first hour on the tap tap with Picking's touchdown.

Yeah, we're gonna put that up there, and we also put up there Sweeping the World Series is incredible for the Dodgers or embarrassing for the Yankees.

Yeah?

I think it's embarrassing for the Yankees. I mean, it's a great accomplishment for the Dodgers. But we expected a fight here. We expected six or seven. Maybe that was wishful reporting. But you've got you've got the al MVP, You've got a guy who's normally a cy young candidate. You got a Stanton, you got Soto. They're talking about does he get a you know, Tani type contract. I mean, just start there, but the problem is that's where you end. You start there, and that's where you end with the Yankees. Don't pitch to Freddie Freeman in that little area there. That should just be a we're not going there. I don't know what the analytics say, because Aaron Boone, I'm sure has analytics. It says that's where you pitch Freddy Freeman. I don't think I would have a pitch anywhere near that. Every pitch would be away with Freddie Freeman. If he drives one to left field or left center, good for him. Let's don't go inside, especially Yankee Stadium with that short porch out there. All right, So we settle on our poll question at least for the first down, and let me get a couple of phone calls in here. Doug in North Carolina, Hi, Doug, what's on your mind today?

Jerseys? Dan, adults wearing jerseys. We've had two incidences in the last couple of weeks of violence breaking out because folks were opposing jerseys to the wrong stadium. Ye, it happened at so far this past weekend, and before that the week before you had horrible video of a Ravens fan randomly outside of the stadium punching some Commanders fans. And I'm wondering two questions, would you feel safe wearing a jersey to an opposing stadium. And number two, is there one city that you would absolutely never do it in.

I tell my son, he's a Packer fan, Red Sox fan. I say, if you go to other stadiums, don't wear your jersey.

And he said, well why not? Why why do I have the jersey?

Then I said, you wear that if you go to Green Bay or you go to Fenway. Just don't bring that possibility into, you know, a discussion, because all it takes is somebody sees it, they got a problem with you. A lot of times you have to worry about the third or fourth guy in who's going to sucker punch you. And I've seen some really ugly incidents Jets games, Raiders game, Eagles game. There's certain fan bases. No, not going to do it, just not.

Not worth it.

Yes, Ton, what's worse getting all dressed up in the away uniform and politely cheering for your team, or wearing neutral colors and being a jackass and just screaming and cheering but you're not dressed in that team's way.

Well, either way you could get punched. All it takes is one person and they're sitting next to you. Or in your section and somebody. You know, I've been in situations where or somebody that was with me, we were in a group and somebody got beer thrown on them, and then you have to say, don't react. And this guy did not react. And then the guy saw me and he said, hey, yeah, I'm sorry, so he did apologize, but he did throw beer on this guy because he had a jersey of the visiting team.

You just it's unfortunate.

But there's it's amazing the number of videos I see now of violence that you have. And it's groups, it's women as well, and you know you shouldn't have to worry about that when you go, but you do, and you're waiting for security, but you know, security is not necessarily security. Sometimes it's somebody who's showing you to your seat. I mean, in fairness to what their jobs are. You know, it's kind of a Paul Blart mall cop type thing. And I think that's that's where you know, you're trying to get people to back away and usually they're inebriated. But yeah, there's there's a few places where I would have trepidation wearing a jersey.

Yeah, poem, I think the danger would be, especially postgame. After I was tuned up on beers. I went to a Patriots Jets game years ago and the Jets lost. The Jets fans were sauced up and angry, and there's guys walking outside with you know, Brady jerseys or Edelman jerseys, and they were catching a lot of bait. They're getting a lot of bait from the Jets fans like they wanted a piece of them. And they kept quiet, but you could see it brewing.

We had Mark Wahlberg gone, and Wahlberg talked about going to a Jets game in his Patriots gear and getting in a fight in the bathroom with his guys.

Yeah. Yeah.

I went to a Dolphin's Jets game once in New York and my brother and I were sitting like in the end zone and we could hear this like commotion coming from behind us. So we turned around and there were these two dudes, probably in their twenties, just walking down the stairwell in Dolphins jerseys. And by the time they got to their seats, they must have been hit with fifteen beers already. They were both covered in crap and I don't think they lasted the first quarter before they left.

Yep, I would.

I would caution people to know the stadium you're going to, Like, if you go to Vegas, that fan base is probably going to be half the visiting team. You know, Kansas City, the Steelers, Green Bay. I don't worry about that. You know, when it was at the Oakland Coliseum, Yeah, then I would worry about that. Philadelphia, I would worry about that. When the Jets are playing, I would worry about that, or at least be aware, just aware, Yes, Ton, I wonder if it's worse.

I guess it could depend on the city and the fan base and how much beer you have people next to your day. But if you're wearing the road uniform and you win versus Louise at the end of the gay, are you gonna get more abuse because your team won or the crap you're gonna take if you did you wore that and your team lost.

I don't think they care about you if their team beats you.

But then they want to give you extra craps like you came here wearing the road uniful like ah, and then they're going to just make it extra difficult.

For you when you're going down the escalator.

And get out.

If your team wins and you're wearing your jersey at their place, then you got your shoes. If if we beat you, we're just laughing at you. The other part brings about violence. Yeah, yeah.

I added a buddy who is a forty nine Ers fan, and whenever they play the Eagles, he'll go down to Philadelphia to see them, and he's worn a jersey a couple of times.

I mean he's a cop, you know, like he can handle himself.

He's he's very good at diffusing situations or handling situations. And even that for him was like it might have been a little too much. Like a group of Eagles fans had to help him get out of the stadium because he was just and so much abuse him and his wife.

You just can't do it, man. You want to, you want to fly the colors, you can't do it. You can't.

And like I know I used to hang out with when I was younger, I hung out with a lot of dudes who like they were Yankees fans, but when they went to the game, they were kind of there to watch the game. They were really there to start a fight. Yeah, they were really there to like you know they were Jets fans, but when they went to a tailgate, they were really there hoping to fight somebody, not really just hang out and have fun.

Alan Atlanta, Hi, Alan, what's on your mind today?

Good morning Dan? Two quick things.

First, I miss the opening game of the World Series because I was getting compliments for wearing my throwback pistol pete jersey to the Hawks game, So I missed the opening act of Game one, Game two opening.

Act ice Cube. He finishes his music medley with today was a Good Day. That is a great way to hype up your team before a World Series match. I just don't understand what the New York Yankees were thinking having their hype show be Fat Joe, who has two notable songs lean Back, no real hype there for baseball fans.

And then.

All the Way Up, which at the end of the music medley has a reference to living in the La Hill. It makes no sense. What would the Yankees thinking? Like, it's crazy?

Where where is jay Z when you need him?

He lives in Los Angeles?

I think, well he does. He has one hundred million dollar home. Yes, him and b have a hundred million dollar home.

Okay, who are they bringing out tonight and look, I don't I'm not familiar with Fat Joe's music, but uh, I don't know. If you're a Yankee fan and he hypes you up great. I was just a little surprised, you know, the ladies and gentlemen Fat Joe. Yeah, yeah, a Vanny Yankees Ice Cube.

I guess it was a good day.

Who had a better day? And that song is so it feels like Los Angeles.

Yeah, I think he overrated it, like there was hyperbole in ice.

No, No, he meant, he meant he met up with Kim.

I know he had a good breakfast and he had a triple do that's right.

The Lakers beat the SuperSonics. It was the Lakers Lakers super Sonics. A tough matchup.

Yeah. I like that.

There's somebody who went back in history and found like took all of sort of like the context clues in that song of like, Okay, what days did the Lakers beat the SuperSonics in this window to find out and identify exactly what day was the good day?

It's like, oh, it must have been, you know.

And then I got to reach out to Kim, and I have to ask Kim if it was a good day for her.

Come on, obviously she went to sleep.

Yeah, yes, Paul, you don't call Run DMC. You don't call the Beastie Boys or both together for this. I mean you want to go old school and make a statement of either. Maybe you put I'm producing the Beastie Boys and Run DMC. I know a couple of them have passed away. You put them together and they walk out together.

I can't really get run DMC.

Yes you can, yeah, Rev Run and Darryl Mack.

But they're from Hollis Queens.

Is that the Mets queen? So maybe like the Mets would call that.

I don't know that they're Mets fans. I don't know.

Even Ll cool J is a Queen's guy too. Does that affect the.

Bronx, But I think he wears Yankee gear?

He does?

Yeah, I think so.

I think New York is New.

York Beastie Boys.

Uh so you have what two from Run DMC, two from the Beach Beastie Boys.

I've been fantastic.

Yeah.

I think they just grabbed the dude from the Bronx that shoe because they're the Bronx bombers.

Okay, so you do like KRS one.

Right, Oh yeah, he's South Bronx is like probably his well the first song that put him on the map, that would be one that you do.

Okay, you could do? Uh? Is there?

Have they announced this? Do they announce who's going to be, you know, the opening singer whatever it is? The opening act here? Because I didn't know that Ice was going to be performing or Fat Joe.

I didn't see anything.

Let me see Jeff in South Bend. Hi, Jeff, what's on your mind today?

By Dan?

Good morning Dan, Dan.

This is Dad five six and forty pounds. Bad chill thing. Last night was in Paris. I'm a little guy. Yeah, I'm sixty nine years old. The usual World Series crowd is older, more established, and then it cost hundreds and thousands of dollars to see a World Series game. It's not the same crowd you get on a Tuesday night against Kansas City in July. And it went on and on and on, and it was just I don't think it fired the crowd up. I'm not familiar with Fat Joe, no reason to be, but I just thought that was embarrassing for New York and Yankees in general.

All right.

I mean, we have so many great songs that I have to do with New York. You know, Alicia Keys might have been a better choice there, jay.

Z in there just I don't know.

But once again, if you didn't tune in early, you didn't even see Fat Joe, so it wouldn't even matter to you. You know what took the air out of the building, not Fat Joe Freddy Freeman did.

Yes, Mark, do.

You run it back?

Because Jay and Alisha Keyes did a Empire state of Mind in two thousand and nine at.

The World Series. Yes, so you run it back?

Yes, Yes, I don't care if jay Z lives in LA. It's a New York state of mind.

Fly him out.

Yeah, the jay Z factor.

Yeah, it's funny because I didn't look at that and be like, why the hell's Fat Joe out there? I was more like, oh man, this is kind of awkward for Fat Joe, Like it just didn't really work. It's not so much that it was about him, per se like, even if you put jay Z out there in that moment, it might still be a little awkward because he's just kind of standing.

There, I know, and you're like, yeah, New York, all right, and everybody is you know, a whole baseball field the way, and you're just kind of standing there in circles looking at everyone.

All right, yeah New York.

Yeah yeah, yeah, Like what what are you doing?

Yeah?

All right, let's hear how I'm on, Get up, Get up, New York.

Who are you? This is our town.

I've got to play Josh James.

Right, lean back, a run, lean back? Okay, yes, are you doing it?

Yes? Uh?

Maybe you need to get pitbull with Fat Joe mister Saturday night.

Let's go now, that's if the Marlins get to the World Series.

Oh yo, Balt name uh Jordan in Ohio? Hi Jordan, what's on your mind today?

Hey?

Dan A brisk five nine seventy five, longtime caller, longtime listener. I just got one off the topic college football question. I'm curious about Shader Sanders. I know he's the most talented quarterback in college football right now. I do not doubt that my curiosity is well his personality and the personality of his father, mesh in NFL locker rooms. Will it end up more like a Lamello Leangelo and LeVar Ball situation.

I don't know.

You know what all I've heard from is my friend who's a scout, my source, and he has scouted Shaudor and he has broken down the film and every one of these scouts will say, there's some things that this quarterback doesn't do well. There's things that this quarterback really does well. I don't think this is a great quarterback draft. I quinn yours Carson back at Georgia cam Ward Okay, Shaudoor Sanders appears to be the best quarterback. I don't know if Dion is going to let his son go to certain organizations, certain franchises. Now, I don't have any real concrete information. I do know that that is that is a true conversation that Dion might say, my son's not going to play for that owner of that team in that city. And now does he pull Archie Manning with Eli Manning?

Is that a possibility? Yeah?

But I would say shauld Or Sanders right now of the quarterbacks is standing out and if you watch him, a dude will take a hit man. He will stay in the pocket and take a hit. And if you're a scout, you want to see what happens. You know, when the pocket gets dirty, you know, these guys start seeing ghost. He said, you like that quarterback who knows this is going to hurt, but this is going to help. I'm going to get hit, but I got to deliver this pass. And by all accounts with my friend Whis's scout, he says that Shudor will stay in there and take the hit.

Yeah.

Pauling on that last caller, Dion Sanders, Say what you want about him. He's a Hall of Fame athlete, one of the more successful athletes in American history. Comparing him to a LaVar Ball is not fair in any way. LaVar Ball is a failed amateur athlete who try to manage his kids' careers. I mean they're not even in the same stratospere.

Yeah, but it's called interference.

Though, you can be one of the greatest athletes of all time, but is there going to be interference? You know, Lonzo Ball's dad shouldn't be involved. He hasn't been involved. I think it's better for his kids that dad is not walking out there or first Aik doesn't have him on anymore.

They finally wised up our two on the Way
