Hour 1 – Coco Gauff Wins French Open, Thunder Get Even

Published Jun 9, 2025, 4:27 PM

Dan is hopeful about the future of tennis after Coco Gauff wins the French Open and the electrifying Men’s Final. And Dan praises the Oklahoma City Thunder for getting back on track and taking Game 2 of the NBA Finals from the Indiana Pacers last night.

You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Hope you had a great weekend.

Everybody, gang's all here ready to go on this Monday, as we always do. Best and worst of the weekend. What you saw that you liked you didn't like? Age seven to seven three DP Show operator Tyler sitting by to take your calls. Also, say good morning to our radio affiliates. iHeartRadio, Fox Sports Radio, and if you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the app. Stat of the Day as always brought to you by Panini America Official Trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. A few things to go through. The thunder over the Pacers last night. That series tied to a game apiece. If I said to a Pacer fan, hey, you can win game one or you can win game two, you'd probably say, let's win game two and take that momentum back to Indiana. But you win game one, you get roughed up in game two the Panthers and double overtime. Game three is tonight in Florida. They always say South Florida because they never want to say where they're actually from, which is Sunrise, Florida. Because people go where is Sunrise Florida, South Florida. But congratulations to the Panthers in double overtime. We've had overtime and now double overtime. Email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DPS show, and we say good morning to Fox Sports Radio, iHeartRadio as well. Interesting results from the French Open. Cocoa Goff, who has been on the worldwide radar since she was a teenager, well thirteen or fourteen years of age. Here she is twenty one years of age, winning your second major. Carlos Alcarez, who would have thought you got center with a chance. You got three championship points and you can't put them away. That's what always amazes me watching tennis. You're down to your last point, then all of a sudden you win. Then all of a sudden you move on to the next set. Then all of a sudden you've got the advantage. You've got at the momentum, and it's five hours. There's no clock, you just play. It felt like every time Michael Chang played a tennis match it went five sets. He may lead the I'm gonna say lead the league. He may lead men's tennis in five set matches. And maybe not winning those matches, but it felt like every match was five sets. But the French Open and Alcarez in center. Hopefully you have, you know, moving into a new generation of great players, that that's the next wave that they'll be facing each other for many, many years to come. All Right, we'll have a pull question, play of the day, stat of the day, all of that forthcoming. First down, We're brought to you by Maco. Most cars on the road could use a little TLC. At Maco, they bring your car back to life. Affordable paint jobs like collision repairs. Get a free estimate today. Uh oh, better get Maco. A couple of things stood out last night. The Pacers are the first team in over a decade to not have a twenty points score in the first two games of the NBA Finals. Now, I like spreading the wealth, but this is Oklahoma City's defense here. And another thing that would concern me if I'm an Indiana Pacer fan is Tyrese Halliburton. He did have the big shot in Game one, he didn't have a great game, and last night he was kind of, I don't know, neutral, he was just okay. He can't be just okay. But give credit to Okac the defense that they're playing. And then you have shay gilgis Alexander. The difference in game two as opposed to game one. He was more economical with his shooting. And you know, you're taking thirty shots to get to thirty eight points in game one, and you're taking what twenty one shots to get to thirty four points and you throw in eight assists. That's where they're really dangerous. And you had so many players from the bench coming in and contributing. You saw a true okay see performance last nine. Now that's one game, but is it habit forming? Does OKAC realize we should have won game one? We made a mistake. We can't let this team get any breath of fresh air and think they have a chance to beat us. And you saw that in game one, and they should have known that. If you watch the Pacers when they're down by fifteen, you don't know if they're down by fifteen or they're up by ten. And that's what OKAC realized in game one. Now I'm looking at DraftKings telling me the NBA Finals outcomes as far as if you're betting, if this is going to go five that is the favorite right now, follow by four to two, Thunder, follow by Thunder four to three, and then it jumps to the Pacers winning in six, Pacers winning in seven. You can place a bet at the Pacers winning the next three to win this series, but those are long odds as well. Okay, see is favored. They showed you why they were favored, and now the series is going to shift to Indiana. Let's see seat and you got a poll question for me? Yeah, we got a couple for you here. Well, let's see.

You're kind of hitting a bunch of sports. So we can start with Paul's question that he sent over the most strenuous sport basketball hockey, tennis. Believe football out of that basketball because that's clearly the one, but basketball, hockey, tennis.

So we're going with sports that are happening. Now, Yeah, you could throw boxing in there.

Is that even happening now?

Well?

It it is?

They're just yeah, is that even happening? Not even not marqute matchups?

I think I think sports where you actively like, like, all right, there's fighting in all sports, but the sport isn't fighting. You can take those out. UFC take that out, can take boxing out. I think you take football out.

Okay, so just the ones that are going on now, yeah, okay, so which one is more strenuous? Well, I guess we're going to focus on tennis because it went five and a half hours.

Hockey always.

To me, I mean, hockey is you're out there for ninety seconds, go as hard as you can now, you know, go to the bench, and then we're going to do it again in a couple of minutes and then repeat and repeat. Tennis is you're out there and it's not like you can go, can I go sit down for a little while.

You're going to play now?

Granted, how long do the points last when you're on the clay, It, you know, lasts a little bit longer you have rallies on the clay as opposed to when you're at Wembledon or US Open or Australian Open. But I'm just amazed that when you're out there for five and a half hours. And also there's the mental aspect of that of being out there for five and a half hours. It's not just athletically but mentally you have to be all in out there. And then you see these guys when they're you know, in their mid thirties or late thirties still doing it. That's even more remarkable that they're able to do that, yes Ton, and not only the.

Duration and the heat or whatever their conditions are, but just mentally from one game for the next.

Just like yesterday, you just had it.

You're about to win a championship, and then you have another chance and another chance, and how how how you're going to bounce back from that, How it gets in your head knowing what's now there could be another knowing in the back of your mind, could.

Be another hour and a half of tennesseeet to be played to figure.

I was going to win this thing, thank Ton, as opposed to just you know, you're skating around and everything, but you get those breaks, like you said.

And nobody knows tennis quite like you do.

Second doubles. I know once in a while they threw me out there for a couple of points.

Did you letter in high school? In tennis?

We all got letters. I wouldn't say I lettered as far as earned it.

Everyone on the team got a jacket, and you got the little Lincoln l with a lightning bolt through it.

Did you I think you have to play in a varsity match the letter.

I think I played briefly in a couple of varsity matches, but I wore that satin blue Lincoln tennis jacket like I was the captain of the team. You would never know the way I was strutting up and down the hallways off likekot High School. You would think, Wow, this guy must be like the number one singles guy.

And I'm gonna guess you still have that gibt oh.

I sure do. I couldn't. I couldn't fit it at all around me. It's basically a scarf at this point.

Why don't we bring it in and maybe I frame it and we put it in here with all the other great jerseys.

I got my name on it, says Todd and script on the side. That's pretty cool.

What else, Seaton are we thinking about?

Man, it's got Todd in script.

It's sweet.

We haven't really hit this one yet, so I'm guessing we'll save it for a leader.

Okay topic, but Aaron Rodgers no?

Oh, okay, okay uh. Will the NCAA settlement shift college sports dramatically question mark game changer or not really? Paul Finbaum from the Mothership will join us a little bit later on. We'll talk about this. We've talked about this.

I find it fascinating of where we were to where we are now. You go back to September of twenty thirteen, Johnny Manziel on the cover of Time magazine and the article the headline is time to start paying athletes. Well, we're there, but there's questions. This is fluid once again, and I don't know what college sports is going to look like in ten years from now, because right now it just feels like everybody's trying to figure out, Okay, how do we navigate this, and they haven't navigated this very well. Now the NCAA is basically out of the picture, and maybe you know they're going to be governing the sports that are on the periphery. But yeah, that I got more questions than answers have been supplied to me. And I've talked to people who are part of the decision makers this and even they are kind of confused by everything or cautious about things. And I think that's what we have to kind of do a little deeper dive into what does it really mean for you the college fan? That's really all that matters now. Athletes getting paid. They've been paid, they've been paid before, they'll continue to get paid. But I care about what it means for us the fan. That's it, because I'm going to let college athletics deal with whatever this mess is and hopefully they clean it up. Hopefully they can clean it up. Hopefully it's defined. But I just think there's so much gray area here. I got so many questions, and hopefully Paul Feinbaum can provide some answers. Fritzy just sent me an article that Tyrese Haliburton was seen limping from the podium after Game two loss.

No further word on how serious it is, but you know or is it close to concern? The top guys limping are out?

Yeah yeah, but heading back home.

Hopefully it was just a lost Game two limp mmmm well.

Game three will be Wednesday night in Indianapolis.

I always love that when like a dude gets torched on a play, you know, and all of a sudden they're.

Like, God, you know, I gotta grab the back of my leg real quick.

Take a second. I wouldn't have gotten torch like that if I just hadn't tweet something.

Okay, No, I'm good now, I'm.

Better, okay, having all of us. Yeah, dude, you airball you start checking your hands.

On your shoulder is a little funny.

That's why I airballed that.

My shoulder just clicked.

That was weird.

I guess My favorite is when ball goes there's an error and the guy looks at his glove, like, man, glove.

This thing, just rip the heck this thing. Oh no, it's fine, that's weird.

Yeah.

Or a golfer and missus a putt. There's always something in his line that then he tamps it down with his powder.

He argues with like the land it celeb He's like, no to the right, the right to the.

Yells at his caddy. It's like, left him right, and you told us open gets underway in Oakmont. By the way, I've played Oakmont, I don't want to play Oakmont again.

I should say it played me.

Do you want to go early in the week?

Poll?

Who you got at Oakmont? If I give you Scotty Scheffler or the field? Is Scheffler in the Tiger Woods versus the field category?

Now?

Has he graduated to that.

M that's insulting to the Tiger Wow.

The Tiger ladies and gentlemen, The Tiger Jeffler, Rory Bryson. Uh, well, Rory's got problems with his driver, Like he was terrible in at the RBC this week.

We didn't even make the cut, saving it for next week.

Yeah, you had problems. They confiscated his and then he's still trying to find a driver.

He's just hustling everybody. Oh right, care.

There.

Here's Rick Carlyle talking about Halliburton and how he played last night.

There's a lot more to game into the game than just scoring. Everybody's got to do more. Starts with the best players, starts with Tyree, San Pascal and Miles who will be in here to talk to you guys, and then it goes from there. And so people shouldn't just look at his points and assists and judge how he played or any of our judge how any of our guys played just on that. That's just not That's not how our team is built. I mean, we're an ecosystem that has to function together. And you know stats, you know we got scoring up points to win the game. But who gets them and how they get him not important.

I just want Halliburton to be aggressive. But I'm going to give credit to Oka. See Chad holmbren bounce back was that was emblematic of a team that won sixty eight games during the regular season. That was a true team performance. They were bringing guys off the bench. I thought you could only have twelve players on an active roster. It felt like they were suiting up guys in the locker room to say do you want to play tonight? Because did they play thirteen players last night.

Paul I looked at the thunderbox where I always look at the score for little tidbits for the show. The Oklahoma City Thunder played seventeen people in yesterday's game. I honestly thought the max on a roster was twelve. Like you remember the am the twelfth man on the bench? Yes, you're the last active player. Yes, okay, I did a little research, believe or not. During the regular season, NBA team's active roster has to have twelve, but can be up to fifteen. It's your choice. So if you only want to pay twelve, but you have to have twelve, oh okay, you can have fifteen regular season. In the postseason, you can expand your roster to eighteen players. Some are on those little temp postseason contracts. So seventeen of the eighteen players on the Thunder play last night.

How does that affect courtside seats for the Lakers and the Knicks. If all of a sudden, you know, you see a couple of guys in uniform and then somebody gets knocked to the second row, I'm guessing.

Why is Adam Flagler sitting in the court side Vip seed?

Yeh whoever.

That is Adam Flagler.

He is a thunder.

And then there's not Andrew Wiggins coming off the bench, right, it's Aaron Wiggins who went to Maryland. I think, is that right, Marvin? Yeah, All of a sudden, I'm going, wait a minute, Aaron Wiggins.

It makes you like a double take kind of thing, like.

Really, yeah, yeah, Wiggins had a good game last night.

Really yeah, I didn't happen. Yeah.

By the way, the Nicks have asked for permission to talk to the Dallas Mavericks about their head coach, Jason Kidd, and it got me wondering, Okay, how thought out was firing Tom Thibodeaux, Because I thought, okay, then you know who you want to hire. I'm going to make that assumption, which is dangerous in this business, that they knew what they were doing, and maybe they know what they're doing. If I'm Jason Kidd, do I want to leave Dallas? Do I want to leave the opportunity to coach Cooper flag You win the lottery, you stumble into this, do you want to go to the Knicks? Unless Jason Kidd and Yannis get reunited, that would be I mean, that's the only thing I see where I go, Okay, we're gonna get Jason Kidd, and that means Giannis.

Is gonna want to play for Jason Kidd.

Okay, but I'm not bringing in Jason Kidd and going Okay, let's see if you can take them further than Tom Thibodeaux. But you're asking for permission. Okay, So what are the Mavericks? What would they want in return? Because I don't think the Knicks they don't have a draft pick this year. I think they have a protected first round pick in twenty twenty six.

I'd probably take that.

But you're gonna trade your coach or that would I mean, you're gonna have to trade your coach if they're interested in Then what's Dallas going to ask in return? And the only way I'm bringing Jay Kid in and trading for him is if Jannis then decides he wants to play for the Knicks. But then I got to figure out what am I sending, you know, the Bucks for Yannis? So if I give up a draft pick to Dallas for Jay Kidd, then what's Milwaukee gonna want. They're gonna want some draft picks there, and what players are you going to make expendable where they go. You know what, Yeah, this this trade makes a lot of sense. We always look at trades from one angle. You got to look at both sides here and go. If you're Milwaukee, he might want out what are we getting in return? That's where I would definitely call up the Boston Celtics and I would say, hey, are you interested in Yan's if he wants to leave?

Now.

I don't know if he would want.

To go to Boston, but that's where I would start because I'd ask about Jalen Brown, I'd ask about Derek White. I think the Celtic roster feels like it's gonna be some moving parts there. Now, who are they going to move? What are they willing to move? And if you get Yannis. But when I saw the j Kids situation, I thought, there's only one reason why I'd do it, and that's because Yiannis like Jason Kidd. Yes, Marvin, but.

The NBA is a copycat league. And if the rest of the NBA sees what the Oklahoma City Thunder are doing going this deep with twelve guys that play in regular rotation, you're not going to trade all your debt for one superstar, because you're going to be in the same position as you were last year talking about the Knicks, because if they get eliminated in the conference finals again, you're gonna say, man, only if they had a bench. Yeah, and then you just trade away good pieces, probably mckel Bridges or somebody like that.

Yeah, but I don't want mckel Bridges if I'm Milwaukee.

Oh, I think it's a bad trade on both sides. I mean, there's not winning. They give up what five first round picks for mckel Bridges.

Well, that was the Nets though I know I.

Don't I don't know if I'm getting Giannis, what am I giving up? I go I always go back to Carmelo Anthony gut He wanted out of Denver, he wanted to go play for the Knicks. He gets to the Knicks and he goes, where are my teammates? We traded four guys to get you, Carmelo. Do you know how this works? And then you know he lamented the fact that he didn't have a great roster there.

Yes, Mark, Well, I wasn't talking about michel Bridges specifically, but I was just saying, somebody that's a good rotation guy, and you trade him and another star, and then you're gonna be in the same position as you were last year, which Jannisen, Jalen Brunson and a bunch of guys.

Yeah, Pauline, I'm not sure the Super Team Supermax guy era is over. I think it's had a chilling effect. I think the Suns really hurt the Super Team era, like the Sons have gone nowhere spending a ton on three great players. But I think teams still look at it. It might be tougher to do what Okac is doing than to sign two super Max guys. That's simple, that's just a check.

Well.

Brian Winhorst is talking about that this year, that the got to have three stars. There that's changed. If you can have one great player and you can have some really good players and then you have bench players. I mean, that's kind of what Denver did.

I mean.

Jamal Murray can be a great player. I don't think he's a great player, you know, consistently, but he does have those pockets where you know he'll put up forty three and you go, dang, who says Joker doesn't have any talent around him? And then all of a sudden you want Michael Porter Junior, the third not do anything. But yeah, Okac has Shay Gilgis. They don't have great players around him, but boy, they have good players who know exactly what they're supposed to do. And it took a while for Shay Gilgess to develop into this. Nobody knew who Sga was going to be or the Clippers never would have gotten rid of him. They would have said, this guy's better than Paul George. We're not going to get rid of this guy.

Yes, Martin, Yeah, But even in the Big Three era, like the Celtics, Lebron's heat, they had good like they had good players around them, they had a good bench. That team that got to the Finals in twenty eleven with Lebron's Heat, besides Wade Boshing Lebron, that wasn't a good roster. They got beat by a better all around team in the Mavericks. And same thing with the Boston Celtics. You get a James Posey, you get a PJ. Brown, you get all these guys Jason Terry to come off the bench, and that's how you win a championship. You just can't win with three great players and a bunch of scrubs.

But there's no way I want to bring in Jay Kidd if it just means, okay, we get Yanna's.

Okay, but what am I giving up to get Yanna's?

Because I think you're correct in saying all of a sudden, he's gonna get there and go, uh, who do I have?

Hey? You got you got Brunson. Okay, you're gonna have.

To give up a couple of players to get him? And are you and if you're trading for Jay Kidd, what are you giving up for Jason Kidd?

A draft pick? You got to give up a first round draft pick? All right?

Some phone calls here eight seven to seven three DP show Chris and Syracuse.

Hi, Chris, Hey, thank you Dan.

Hey, I want to throw a best and worse at you. My best hearing Joe Flacco is very honest and thoughtful response to that lazy old age media question of whether he's going to be a metor to the young players or the young quarterbacks. And you know, he basically said, hey, it's a track question.

You know.

If I say yes, I'm not a competitor. If I say no, I'm a jerk. And he basically said, you know, I'm going to do what I always do in the locker room and quarterback room. I'll speak my mind. If they want to listen, they'll listen. And my worst this week the Motherships of a session with New York Knicks coaching vacancy. It seems to be a bigger story than the NBA Finals.

Well, get ready for Aaron Rodgers being a bigger story than any other story in sports. His arrival, his contract. What are you a former teammates have to say? The Packers they have to face Aaron Rodgers in week eight. Oh, he's gonna face his former team, the Jets. This is what happens now. Even networks who are rights holders that means they may carry the World Series of the Stanley Cup Final, NBA Finals, Football, Trump's all of that, Nick Chubbs addition to the Texans like, okay, I mean there are times when you can talk about this.

There are times when there's not other things to.

Talk about, and you go, well, oils, Phil's talk NFL.

But yeah, this is this is what happens now.

This is where commissioners aren't happy when they call up bosses at networks.

Not that that's ever happened. When I was at ESPN.

When are you going to start talking about why are you talking about you know, nobody cares about the Yankees and the Red Sox in June. We gotta talk about the not that that happened, but yeah, you would like the And we weren't even the rights holders, but you know, we were really powerful back then with Sports Center. Yes, marm Aaron Rodgers pick number eight. Yeah, yeah, they weren't giving him twelve. They ever given him almost twelve million dollars with incentives like whatever, nineteen and a half million dollars, and now he's showing up.

Yes, Paul, it seems like a pretty team friendly contract, only ten million guaranteed. He could with playing time and success and team performance, he can get that up to nineteen point five million. But the past few years, the Steelers have gone out of their way to not pay at the quarterback position.

The Jets went out of their way to pay at the quarterbacking position. So if I'm Aaron Rodgers, it's like, all right, don't take a pay cut, but I'm going to a team that will probably be in the playoffs. And then does he want to play another year? But you know, Albert Breer, the Monday morning, quarterback was talking about this and he said, the Steelers are all in this year because if you look at you know, their marquee players are getting up there in age. You know, TJ. Watt, you're going to have to redo his contract. He's got one year left. He wants to be compensated in the Miles Garrett, Michael Parsons, Max Crosby neighborhood. But you're all in. I don't know, it's weird. You get DK Metcalf and all of a sudden, you're all in. Okay, I mean, Mika Fitzpatrick still a really good player.

Hayward's still a good player.

But in that division, are you I mean you got to measure yourself against the Ravens and they're nowhere near the Ravens.

Are you better than the Bengals?

And that's what surprised me that in Albert burers said, Hey, that's why they went and got Rogers and did not draft a quarterback. They didn't bring in Kirk Cousins. They wanted Aaron Rodgers. They want to see if they can do something. But I want more than just hey, hey, we got to the playoffs. We finished nine to eight, and we won a playoff game, like I want more than that, and it's not sustainable. That would be the Only thing is it's a quick fix and all it takes is one slip up from a guy who's going to be forty two years of age and then what then all of a sudden, it's Mason Rudolph And then where are you going in the future. You have to have your quarterback. Quarterbacks give you hope. It's when the teams don't have a quarterback and you go, hey, they better get a quarterback. Better get a quarterback. And then once you do, then all of a sudden, you go, okay, we're good. Like Jacksonville's trying to figure out if they have their quarterback. I mean he's under contract, but like he'd better be the quarterback. You know the Chargers with Justin Herbert. Now, Jim Harbaugh took that job because he knew I got a quarterback here. He really likes Justin Herbert and he liked him from Afar and it's like, yes, yeah, that guy is going to be a Hall of Fame quarterback. But you know, looking at the Steelers, like the Bengals have their quarterback, the Ravens have their quarterback. I don't know what Cleveland's got right now. I still think Shadoor Sanders is going to.

Be a starting quarterback.

I mean it's crazy, but somebody who's involved with that team told me, hey, he has handled himself the way you want a fifth round draft pick to come in and handle himself. He has been professionals, he's engaging, he's involved, his approach, his workout, you know, all of these great things.

Everything's good, everything's good so far. Gues Don And what.

Choice, though, do you have to after being humbled like that, you're going to walk around with some fifth round pick swagger? You pretty much got to play the roll of where you got picked. Oh, he's so charming and looking like he wants to learn. You know, you would think a fifth round.

Pick would ship on your shoulder. You can have a chip on your shoulder, you can walk in a little entitled there.

And he could feed the problem even worse bigger that is.

Well, I don't know what happens when he starts starting games for you?

Does he then go back to where he was at Colorado?

If he plays well?

Yes, yes, Paum.

I had this web page here that that breaks down what each NFL team spends at the quarterback position. Quick quiz. Which team last year spent the most on their quarterback first, second, and maybe even third string?

The Cleveland Browns.

I got Cleveland. Now they're down there a.

Bit well with Deshaun Watson's salary.

Yeah, well, yeah, they're fourth. They're fourth in the entire league.

Yeah.

Number one was the Los Angeles Rams forty six million, Stafford three million on Garoppolo. The team that spent the least at the quarterback position last year Carolina the Las Vegas Raiders. Between Aid and O'Connell, Desmond Ritter, and a gentleman named Carter Bradley, they spent one point eight million dollars at the quarterbacks. Jeepers, creepers, yep jeepers, scheepers.

They probably are paying a former quarterback even more money to help run their front office.

There and Tom Brady the Rams pay their second string are more than the Raiders pay their entire roster.

Andy and Rhode Island, Welcome back, Andy, what's on your mind? Good morning?

What's up?

Then?

At Dan, I have two best in the words.

My first, it's gonna be NHL failely final and it is a gift that keeps on giving.

Dan.

It has been so entertaining, keeps me locked in, and I couldn't go to sleep until it was all over. My second Mahard goes out to Portugal for that great victory over speed and the penalties, and I know it meant so much to Cristiano Ronaldo because you know, the haters, they're still out there MESSI versus Ronaldo.

But we'll leave that for another day.

Yeah, but they might they sub Ronaldo out though I think didn't he I know, because.

It looks yeah, it looks like he had krimps. I believe Crimpton and you know, yeah, he is close to forty Dan, so you know, I can I can take that. I'm happy that, you know, he.

Was very happy about his victory the third. Then I'll leave it at this. These one versus one league unprofessional. I am not a fan of watching Lance Stevenson versus Michael Beasley one on one. I don't know what are we doing?

What are we doing?

Then?

This is not good for us?

You Andy, I didn't even know anything about it.

Like I'm flipping through and all of a sudden, I see two guys playing one on one.

I'm like what is this?

And then it's one hundred thousand dollars winner take all, Lance Stevenson and Michael Beasley Junior the third. If they were playing out on my court in the man.

Case, you take a peek at that. I might take a.

Peek at that as you on your way to the kitchen.

Yes, and then coming back and I'd be like, who are the guys out there playing basketball? That's that's when you know you got to get outside and get some fresh air, Like you know, now you need to go out, and you know, why don't Why don't you do some gardening or go play golf or something. When you're watching Michael Beasley and Lance Stevenson in their prime, I'm not watching that.

We hold you're not watching Michael Beasley in his prime? Well, Kansas State Michael Beasley. You'd watch Kansas State Michael Beasley. Michael Beezy is gifted of a one on one score. I couldn't care less you'd watch Michael Beeley.

I would not not live. I would not Marvin.

I swear, I swear on Fritzy's life, I would not watch. Yeah, I like Kyrie Irving goes Man. I'd never want to play Michael Beasley one on one? Well, okay, shouldn't he be in the NBA's forty eight If he's so good, shouldn't he still be playing?

Yes, Michael Beasley's first team haul of I thought he'd be way better than he was in the NBA. Little word, he didn't make one All Star team.

He doesn't have a good shot. Nice player, got a weird shot, lefty. Yeah, lefties always look good when they shoot. Always, he doesn't. Did you watch Michael Beasley against No in the one on one matchup for one hundred thousand dollars life?

Yes? Yes, Well you're scolding me because I'm not watching Michael.

Beasley at Kansas State.

I say, oh, watching OJ Mayo? I think at USC?

All right, I believe you on Fritzy's life. Yes, all right, tugs the clarify.

That who is the other player at Kansas State that Bob Huggins brought in?

That Bill Walker?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, something like that.

How did you get those guys like man?

Yeah?

Are they from Kansas?

Hire from Cincinnati?

Private jets have to connect to get to Manhattan, kans Like?

Okay, OJ Mayo Like, oh, I'm going to USC?

Are you now, Yeah, that was a good sneaky line by Polly there. Private jets have to.

Connect, Thank you, Tom.

I like that.

Yeah, how about we take a break here? All right?

How about we take a break. We will bring you our play of the day and settle on our pole question. We're back after this.

Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio WAP.

Oh my God.

Play of the Day.

Carlo's like playing this is the play of the day.

Check this out today and you're polling out one as hard as Ma said, Marsha, can you talk?

The series said? And over time and the Panthers win game two by four.

The series is tied.

Then a game apiece, Heurtesy of the Panthers Radio Network. Imagine trying to transcribe what that play by play announcer just said, because I.

Was going mad, Margia, you know that was it.

But a Seaton does his Leon dry side. That's your play of the day. Play of the Day brought to you by tire Rack for over forty years. They've been doing it right. Tires for how and what and where you drive? Ship fast and free back by free road hazard protection. Also convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, tire the way tire buying should be. Todd just sent me a quick poll question. How many more wins than his number eight Jersey, will Aaron Rodgers lead the Steelers to one two exactly eight? Less than eight? Well, I gave you the Super Bowl odds that they're the same. They didn't change with Aaron Rodgers going there and the over unders eight and a half, so they're not expecting a big leap there in victories. Well, they have nine last year they have nine or ten went to the playoffs though, but uh eight and a half right now?

Yeah, Pauline Steelers were ten and seven last seven, but they lost their last four regular season games.

Yeah.

I wonder if they'd had a little more success. I wonder if they had won a playoff game. I wonder if Russell Wilson would have been brought back because he didn't have bad numbers, He didn't have great numbers. The problem was December November was good, December wasn't. And then they missed out on bringing back Justin Fields, which I still would have gone that. If you said I can have Aaron Rodgers for one year, I have Justin Fields for three or four years. I would have gone in that direction, and I'm sure that I'm going to die on this hill. I'm in the minority with thinking Justin Fields is a starting quarterback, A good starting quarterback. I think he is, but you need continuity, offensive coordinator, you know, have some weapons. He's not a great passer. That can hurt you with that position. He's I think he can be a talented player. He's just not a great passer. But that's a big part of the job there. Yeah, not all of it, yeah, but a lot of it. Paul and Austin I Paul Wood's on your mind today.

What's up then? Best and the worst than the stat of the day. Worst is the Atlanta Braves just an abysmal season. Best of the weekend Gentlemen's French Open Singles final. What an epic five and a half hour slugfest between two extraterrestrial talents, with Cardifos coming out on top. Dan, I've watched a lot of tennis. These dudes are different insane ball striking, speed, stamina. I don't think it's far fetched to say these two can win fifteen majors each and also stat of the Day.

Marvin, you got some music.

Since the start of twenty twenty four, World number one Yanick Center's record versus alchorizes zero to five. His record versus all other opponents is ninety one and three.

Well French Open.

Stat of the Day courtesy of Paul and Austin, brought you by Panini America, the official trading cards of the DP show. And these are really young players. Once twenty two, one's twenty three. And let's not jump to fifteen majors. Okay, how about we say ten. Let's just start with you know, hopefully they'll get to ten. Hopefully they're you know, going against one another. I mean, that was the beauty of tennis when you had Federer and Nadal, you had Joker. You knew that they were going two of the three were probably going to be there and to have familiarity and greatness there. And I mean, Djokovic is going to be probably recognized as the greatest tennis player of all time. You know, Federer had him a couple of times and couldn't put him away. Nadal obviously on clay, but it feels like Novak is he might be the goat. Now there's going to be people who I don't want to go down this path. I don't want to turn the show over to tennis because there's going to be people who will say, oh, Rod Labor and Rod Labor. I didn't get to see him play in person, but yes, he was wonderful on all surfaces. Jimmy Connor's won over one hundred tournaments in his career. I think there's only two other people. I think Djokovic. I don't know the other one to have. Maybe it's Fetter over one hundred wins in their career. But if you're looking at athleticism, dominance, creativity, endurance, be Djokovic Our two on the way. More on the NBA Finals, more of your phone calls as well,
