How the holidays could impact eating disorders

The Butterfly Foundation, the national charity dedicated to supporting Australians living with eating disorders, is expecting a surge in calls to its national helpline over the holiday period. The foundation says it has observed a consistent year-on-year increase in demand for eating disorder support services around Christmas and saw a 15% increase in calls during the 2022 holiday period compared to the year before. In the deep dive, we’ll Melissa Wilton from the Butterfly Foundation about what causes this increase in demand, and what to do if you’re worried about someone you know.
