Jamie Soud will be here for all the action, alongside Darryl Browman and Neil Breen, who'll be making his sideline taboo this afternoon. It's a beautiful day out here and a huge crowd is expected. The four time defending Premier sit last on the competition table in round thirteen. Can the Western Sydney Darby spark their season? Both teams are set to have their origin stars back, so it should be a beauty. A number of special guests on the show this afternoon. After Manly made four straight losses for the Broncos with a convincing thirty four points to six victory at home, Reuben Garritt will join us shortly north Queensley and young Gung Jackson Perdue, who's had a breakout year, will also join us. After the Cowboys survived a huge scare to hold off the Tigers thirty two points to twenty eight in Townsville, and the Storm beat the Titans twenty eight points to sixteen in the pouring rain on the Gold Coast. Throughout the afternoon, we'll have score updates between the Rabbit O's and the Warriors kicking off at two pm at a Core Stadium, and will also keep you up to date with the Roosters and Raiders clash from Alliance Stadium at six point fifteen. A great game, it won't About last night's footy, Yeah, we actually called the the Cowboys game and they played the Tigers and we had a bit of fun in the studio actually because dancing Gums Gallon, who just also said yesterday Queensland was scared of Spencer and you the team, the players were scared of me, which was just outrageous. He did make a statement yesterday when it was thirty two six in favor of the Cowboys. I said something about I think the Tigers are coming back, and he said, if the Tigers come back and win this game, I'll eat your underpens.

That was a crazy game. They could have won that the West Tigers. Those sin bins hurt them. But the big story from last night's the Broncos terrible.

Usually when you have losses a lot, they just don't look like they're enjoying their footy. There was two things last night. I don't know why Selvin Cobbo wasn't at fullback. I thought that when he's played fullback this year, they've won games. And the other part is that defensively without paying Hassen and Patty Carrigan, like they are so individualized in what they're doing. Yeah, and then those two guys are so tired, because if you're playing the Broncos right now, you just go after paining hass and then Pat Carrigan. You put a pressure on him, then everyone else falls into line. He's the head of the snake. Every team has one. But right now they look so fatigued. They look disinterested last night, which is why I chose Mainly, I just thought Cherry Evans wasn't gonna have two bad games in a row. He's too good for that. But they just look lethargic, which I'm going to say it right now, Broncos will miss the eight, you.
Know, like they've got to have him in a couple of weeks ago for going out on a harbor cruise.

They can't win in the situation there and if they, if they and I'm just I'm sorry for butting in, but you know you're saying they should go out and get on a drink, and I agree with you one hundred percent.

They look as though they're not interested and that's a really bad.
If your job, if your jobs to be a footy player, well you've got to be into it.
Well, you think, so, they won one of the last seven and they've lost games I should never lose, I think at the start of the year, and maybe you know Penrith aren't away from this as well. Pedw with the are running last. Let's not forget. I think the top three sides in betting, they would have been two of them. Penrith would have been one, yeah, and the Broncos would have been Storm and probably the storm. Yeah, they'd be the three favorites. Now two of them are highly likely to miss the eight, highly likely to miss the eight. Storm make it way, well, go on and win it because they just consisted the storm. But the others are playing awfully, even Penrith last week and I know they had the State of Origin players out and a couple of other blokes injured.
But Penrith are usually you know, the competitive.
I've smashed by Newcastle who just at the moment can't do anything right.
They've got to leave past Penrith. They've won four in a row, They've been poached by every club.

Players, right. We know that the thing with Brisbane is they've gone from one extreme to the other in terms of coaches. They've got a guy who was well entrenched in the group, a bit more people person, you know, happy go lucky sort of thing. Keep the vibes, keep the energy to a disciplinarian that wants it his way. The great thing about Craig Bellamy is he's been able to adjust to that. Like if he was a harder us like he was on Kronk and all those guys who were so great and had other players around him with structure and all that kind of stuff, it was like that the camera Munster, then camera Monster wouldn't be cameraon Munster. He's been he's had to adapt to that. Now he's got Jerome Hughes plan of that. I think they've gone from one extreme to the other. They look extremely tired. It's not about training too hard, I reckon. They're just mentally worn down. And usually in those situations my experience, the harder you try, the worst you play. And last night the fact that that came together they didn't try and they didn't play hard made that manly look like they were going to make the fall last night.
How far is ree s Wolshoff coming back, I don't think.
But he's not going to fix it.

And I wrote a piece about Rees walshon and I'm happy to say that after I wrote this piece, I had a Broncos official on the phone swearing at me.

Something's not right at your club, like if someone's writing a comment piece.
I wasn't too hard on Wash, but I poured it out.
He was averaging seventy meters like fullbacks these days average two hundred, you know, and he's just running sideways. He's getting belted, he's played poorly. You cop this phone call on this abuse and everything.
The thing with.
Walsh is he's lost.
He's lost as a player at the moment, and he just needs I think he needs one massive game where he just carves the team up and gets it back. And so he's not going to fix it, he's not lost.
I think he can fix it for him. Yeah, I think he can. I think he's that good. And maybe the fact he's well yeah, but maybe the fact that his teammates would go on like bustards as well, which we went thinking about affecting him as well. Yeah, I think he can turn them around. But they need him on the pay. But he's a super player. You know the criticism he copped, and he copped a lot of it, you know, like for being average and awful, and he wasn't great, I admit that, but you don't lose what he's got.
Twenty twenty three he was the best he's But.
That's the example for Michael mcgui. How does he find that balance of letting Reese be Reese but also the style that he wants to fit in because it's chalk and cheese at the moment. How they played the last two years is a bit not ad lib but sort of get to a point. Reynold's short kicking game puts you under pressure, and then Reese Walsh out the back well forgetting. They won the first round by fifty over the Roosters, who we all think right now are really enjoyable to watch, especially if they can win tonight.
And they destroyed the Dogs.
Say, we've just got a text through from Tommy and he said, the crazy thing about the Broncos is they won forty two eighteen against the ladder leading Dogs only a month ago.

But you know what the other part this is, and was said about Origin the other night, I think Dan and Kemp brought it up, is no one's scared to go to sun Corp anymore, whether it's Maroons or Brisbane. Yeah, you want to play in those big stadiums because you know the atmosphere gets you going. So teams are going up there, gone good? How good? Whereas used to get up the Broncos gun? I'll be fifty zerousand, it'll be you know, Sunday afternoon. They've had that many home games. I look at their drawer for the next six weeks. There's some winnable games there, but you just can't see them doing it.
The one three one eight seven three is the open line number. Let's hear from you Broncos fans. What's going wrong there? What's the vibe around the city as well? That for a one town city, they're usually well one there.

It's just but you know they're disappointed because in twenty twenty three they'd had a few seasons in the doldrums, and twenty twenty three they were a fantastic football team to watch.

A lot of people here also with you see how we on the on the text line here, I think they do need one of those bonding sessions. Get in there and just be a little bit honest with each other. And something's going on there that that no one can explain. So sometimes that can be the best thing that you go out there, some of the senior guys get a little bit honest with what's going on. Maybe you put themselves under the bus a little bit as well, so that they're not playing their best way.
And I think that's the best way you.
Take it in a world to work out if they get an honesty session or not one one out of seven.
The problem is I don't even think of one wants you to go out on one of those nights, would you.

My advice would be, hey, Mad's get the staff, get the whole club together. You're all in it together.

Yeah, it's very nice mate. I think the way we won as well was pleasing. And it's good to repay the Brookie faithful after guess not having a good sort of last month of footy that Brookie say, yeah, could repay the people who show up every week for us down at Brookie.
Everyone so good to meet Mike on Ruber and everyone who's having a socker. Everyone's watching the game. Couldn't believe what daily Cherry Evans did out there last night. You were on the field with him three days after Origin. That was an impressive performance.
Yeah, oh mate, he was outstanding for us, just I guess kicking the desk in the end as well, just sort of manage the game superbly for us. And like you said a couple of days after Origin, it's pretty good for what did he thirty six forty years old or so? Yeah, No, he was, yeah, super impressive for us, and yeah, I'm glad that he could, I guess back up and put in the massive performance for us.
But have you seen a season like this. You've been around for a few years now, but when you look at the soil, like your blakes have been going pretty average to be brutally honest with you and then you put in a performance like that last night against the Broncos who were going poorly. But it just seems as though it's for every side in this competition. It's really difficult to put in consistent performance. Is that just because of the closeness of the.
Comp Yeah, the comp is very close, but I think it's more consistency. I think in individuals that come to get the team, and that's something that we've struggled with. We sort of can't get everyone on the same page for weeks in a row, so I'm not sure about all the other clubs that we need. That's something that we've spoken about. And the most pleasing thing about the weekend is we get a chance to back it up and I guess show that we can become a consistent side, which is what you need to need to do to give it a good shake. You can see that the Bulldogs have done that and the Raiders and Warriors and some of the other clubs there. So yeah, we need to back that performance up and I haven't seen a season like it too fair. It's you know, it shows how I guess the salary cap works and how close the compy is that you know, anyone can beat anyone on their given day. But yeah, we need to back it up next again and I guess get some consistency heading into the back end of the year.
Hey rubs its sowie mate, I just wanted to ask you a question. You've had a couple of different fallbacks this year. Tom Traboyvich. We know how good he is when he's playing well, manly of flying, but last night I thought Lehi Holpawati was absolutely sensational. Can you just break it down in a short answer, how different those guys styles are?
Yeah, well, oh there's styles. I can't break it down a short answer. But Lee heis then going really well for us no matter where he's playing. He just has that sort of I guess, a great footy mind. He has a knack of coming up with the ball or breaking the line whenever he wants to. So he's been so good for us this year, and obviously Turbo we know what he can do. So yeah, it's good to see Lehigh playing some good footing and you know, fullbacks his preferred position, so it's good to see him have a real good game there for us last night.
But I imagine seems has pumped this into you. What well, my state I'm going to give you here or just a bit of stuff. You got Newcastle next week, gold coach the week after. Then you've got to buy. Then you've got the West Tigers. You're in a position the next month where you could really maybe not cement your spot in the semis. But it's a really important next four weeks for you blokes.
One hundred percent. You know, we haven't spoken about it yet. To be fair, we're just sort of.

The yeah forward think. Yes, we do have a great opportunity there. But what we're saying before it, you know, you've got to show up each week. So we have a good opportunity. We need to take it with both hands.
Reb And we work in rugby league for a living and we love it, right, We absolutely love rugby league. But the thing I love about watching you play is it looks as though you love rugby league. It looks as though you absolutely thrive on playing football.
Yeah, no, I do. I love it. Ever since I was a kid, doing what I'm doing now is all I've ever wanted. So, you know, I used to watch the Telly and tell my parents that's what them I'm going to do one day. And I'm lucky enough that you know, I guess a lot of kids out there who would say that, but I'm lucky enough that I can live that. So absolutely love the game, and you know, I guess everything it provides me and I love to go out there with my mates and just play footy.

I'll have a go the Broncos mate. The last game they won was against you know, a Doggies team that had three players in the bin right on a really wet night. You know, anything could have happened there. Dogs showed a bit of fighting, came back in the second half. But if you take that game out that that Broncos team is really struggling. I don't know what's going on there. On paper, they're definitely a top four team.
I agree with you, but I think they are, but they're.
Not so a pen mate, Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I think I think Manage maguire is trying to bring in a bit of muscle and attitude and whatever, but the players just aren't buying in. Probably not, but when you look at their side, I mean, it's on a serious day when you look at their side that we took the field last night, right, he's there forward pack now, I know the frond Row was great, Hooker was Corey Pakes, Xavier Willison, Jordan, Ricky, Kobe, Heatherington. I mean they're not massive big names. Do you think they are? No, I don't think they are. So I'm just saying, you know, their bench was Takura, who's a big unit, Piakura, Jensen and Billy Walters.
It's a little bit.
There's a few that are not big names in that whole group that I just mentioned.
We underestimate what losing a Grand Final does. You know, para loss to the Penrith Panthers, they didn't make the eight. Next year Broncos have lost the Grand Final. They didn't make the eight last year. The contrasting styles between Madge and Kevy are different. I think when you look at it in a vacuum right now, they're just they're not good enough at the moment. Like it's a tight competition. They've been in games they should have won. After week one we were pretty much I tipped them to win the comp But the other part of it is after twenty three. They haven't evolved. They're trying to play twenty three. You can't have one magical night, you know, and think you can go back to that and keep going. You've got to evolve. You've got to work out different ways. Because everyone in twenty four started watching the Broncos a lot closy Reecee Walsh. The video gets more done on him every man. So everyone else's game has gotten better against the Broncos, but they haven't evolved as a team fully to be able to go right well, Reese can't pop out the back and throw that pass anymore. He needs to be able to throw you bring people back underneath. How do we get him on the front line. That was a great thing about New South Wales the other night. They didn't play out the back. Queensland played out the back, simple style off Carrigan. New South Wales didn't do that off Yo, which caught Queens off guard and Cleary and Moses were dictating off the front of the ruck. Brisbane haven't evolved their attack or defense.
Around the grounds we go. New South Wales Cup just kicking off a min and a half gone between Penrith and the Eels. It is Neil all now, guys, there's a little bit of a perception out there. I think about the Broncos as well, because the emails have gone off as well. I have been a loyal Broncos fan since nineteen eighty eight. However, in recent times they appear to be more concerned about how they look and appear rather than the professional football team seems to be going on a lot. It's a lot of yeah, but it's a lot of them there.
It's a lot of fans that are just outside looking at Daryl said it before, it's you can't win, you know. If they were out in a cruise just unwhining up for a game, if they hadn't won that game against South Sydney, it changes the whole boat cruise thing, right, Winning solves everything.
