Several Georgia Democrats have filed a lawsuit to compel Governor Brian Kemp to hold a hearing on allegations that three Republican State Election Board members violated the law by implementing controversial election rule changes. These changes could allow local officials to delay or refuse election result certification, potentially affecting the outcome of the Nov. 5 elections. The lawsuit challenges provisions in Senate Bill 189, which allows private challenges to voter registrations and requires homeless individuals to use county registrar addresses. Critics argue these measures could disenfranchise vulnerable voters. The lawsuit emphasizes the need to uphold election integrity and law.
Story 3: Rockdale Clerk of Courts Janice Morris Sponsoring Two Breast Cancer Awareness Events
In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Rockdale County Clerk Janice Morris announced two events to support breast cancer patients and survivors. The 2nd Annual "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes" event will take place on Oct. 4, encouraging participants to wear pink and walk a mile between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Additionally, a Karaoke Night with a Pink Out Costume Contest will be held at Chiquitos Cantina and Grill from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. These events aim to provide hope and support for breast cancer survivors and fighters.

Story 4: Georgia Students Beat Nation Again in SAT Scores
For the seventh consecutive year, Georgia public-school students outperformed the national average on the SAT, with a mean score of 1030 compared to the national average of 995. The class of 2024 scored 527 in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 503 in math, surpassing national averages of 507 and 488, respectively. State School Superintendent Richard Woods praised the students and their support systems for this achievement. However, Georgia's mean score dropped from 1045 last year, mirroring a national decline. SAT participation in Georgia increased to 52%, up from 50% last year.
Story 5: KSU Research Aims to Reduce Motor Vehicle Accidents
Kennesaw State University researchers, led by Assistant Professor Billy Kihei, are exploring how existing technology can enhance vehicle safety and reduce collisions. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the project focuses on Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technology, which enables vehicles to communicate and potentially prevent up to 80% of crashes involving non-impaired drivers. The research involves developing models and simulations to use C-V2X signals for passive sensing, detecting vehicles not equipped with the technology. The project aligns with KSU's new Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Engineering, offering students hands-on experience in cutting-edge technology.

Story 6: Registration Open for Express Your Superpower 5K and 10K

Story 7: Lilburn Set To Debut Food Truck Tuesdays Starting In October
The city of Lilburn is launching Food Truck Tuesdays starting October 1, in partnership with the Downtown Development Authority and a private property owner. Located at the corner of First and Main Streets, this initiative aims to boost pedestrian traffic and support local businesses in Old Town. The site will host a rotating schedule of food trucks every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. This temporary setup precedes the construction of three commercial buildings planned by Lilburn Main, LLC. The initiative seeks to enhance dining and entertainment options in the area, complementing existing establishments.
