Governor Jared Polis has made reducing homelessness in Colorado a key focus of his budget for next fiscal year. One of the proposals he wants to see passed would spend $45 million transforming a former youth behavioral treatment center into a facility that could house hundreds of people who are homeless and living on the streets or in shelters across the state. 

Polis envisions an all-encompassing recovery center with temporary housing, drug treatment and job-training programs.
