Good Morning, Colorado, and welcome to the Daily Sun-Up. It’s Friday December 11th, and we’re feeling lucky to start the day with you. Every week day we’re sharing a closer look at one of our top stories. Today we‘re taking a closer look at how musicians in Colorado are finding new ways to share holiday season sounds during a pandemic.

Before we begin, let’s go back in time with some Colorado history adapted from historian Derek R Everett’s book “Colorado Day by Day”:

Today, we take you back to December 11th, 1865 when a delegation of African Americans presented territorial governor Alexander Cummings with a petition signed by 137 members of the territory’s black community. The petition implored Cummings to send their demands to Congress, objecting to Colorado’s proposed statehood in light of local attempts to deny black suffrage.

Now, our feature story. 

For many, the holidays are a time for concerts and caroling, but during a respiratory pandemic, gathering and singing are high risk activities. 

Sun Reporter Lucy Haggard caught up with one of Denver's most acclaimed choirs to see how they're finding ways to share the sounds of the season, even if it's not on the traditional stage.
