Griffin McConnell of Golden is on his way to chess stardom. But the 17 year old has had to overcome the impact of multiple brain surgeries to deal with a seizure disorder that have left him without the use of the right side of his body. Despite a recent surgery that removed a portion of his brain, he has persevered, and is back to winning chess tournaments. Reporter Kevin Simpson spoke with David Gilbert about the remarkable young man’s devotion to the game.
