Hour 3 - KS Sen. Roger Marshall

Published Jan 27, 2025, 8:21 PM
People come to our show for the truth. Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall on the next wave of confirmation hearings and what he expects for the Super Bowl. Jon Stewart on Covid lab leak theory. Calling Covid the "China virus" is not racist. Obama flashback on deportations. Clay's deep thesis on social media.

All right, third hour, Clay and Buck kicks off, and a lot going on with the sanity check and the restoration of sanity at various federal agencies right now, because Trump's picks are taking over. Just a note. Later this week you'll have rfkge Jr. Cash, Patel, and Tulsi Gabbard all up. I believe RFK Junior is Wednesday. Tulsi and Cash are Thursday for their Senate hearings and expected confirmations up on Capitol Hill. I think the only one Clay that could be a little bit more contentious is RFK Junior. Some people think Tulsi Gabbard's confirmation could be a little bit more of a challenge than anticipated. I think Cash Bettel is going to get through, but we'll see. I was right that Mitch McConnell did not vote for Pete Hegseath, which I think was a mistake of judgment by Senator McConnell. Wouldn't be the first time I felt that way, but a couple of things are happening now that Pete Hegsath, who I've known for Oh gosh, I'm trying to do the math fourteen years going on fifteen years we started our media careers roughly around the same time. Used to do panels together at the Blaze back in the real news days.

This is like twenty eleven, twenty twelve, so it's been a while.

But Pete is now the Secretary of Defense and he's doing some great things. One of them is going to be the removal of Dei, which we'll get into that in a second. But also from the very top, Trump and Clay, I know this gets you and me, well, two things have happened on COVID. One, the CIA, with Ratcliffe is now the director of the CIA. CI has come out and said, you know what, maybe COVID, maybe it did come from a Chinese lab.

It's like, yeah, no, duh. It took five years.

Only took five years for that amazing conclusion from our nation's most brilliant It's also perfect too.

You think of it.

It's like, hmm, a novel virus shows up. The world is a big place, the world. There's a big place. A novel virus appears suddenly right in the area where they happen to have a medical research institute that is doing gain of function.

Research, which is very dangerous as we know. Thank you doctor.

Fauci, and just the coincidence factor of this clay that it all relied on was so outrageous from the beginning.

And the people who are like, h, I think that it probably came from.

A lab that was making the viruses, just like this virus next door. Those people were mocked and ridicule. The people who were like, oh, it's actually from a three toed sloth or.

A pangle in or maybe a bet.

Those who were the people can we get I actually so you and I were right now everybody suddenly says, oh, you know, it probably came from a Chinese lab. I think the next step, honestly is is throwing doc. I mean, I know he's got now the immunity, he got the part in and advance all those things. Fauci is such an unbelievable liar, and we're gonna have ran paul on later this week. But the obstruction they put up buck is what will never allow us to one hundred percent know exactly what happened there, Because if we had truly been able to dive into this story, I think we may have known exactly when this leaked, how it happened. To try to keep it from happening again. And let me also point this out. Can we grab the audio of John Stewart. Do you remember when John Stewart went on Stephen Colbert. I give credit to John Stuart and basically mocked and ridiculed the idea that this came from anywhere other than an infectious lab and it this is important. He didn't win in such a way. I think it was year twenty one, like late summer of twenty one, something like that.

See if I said the timing obviously, Matt, you know it's not it's not brave.

If it was, you know, twenty twelve, it was. It was brave for someone who was a Biden supporter. And the way that John Stewart did it was so absurd in its ridicule and hyperbole that he did something that's important and why comedy matters so much, so much buck. He embarrassed people who were arguing that it was a zoonotic translation from one animal to another, yeah, and made them yeah, and made them unwilling to still make that argument. We'll play that for you before we go, because I do think that was an important line of demarcation. John Stewart got it right before the entire Biden, White House and CIA did well.

But I think you know, look the so they wanted to delay it was obvious, but they wanted to delay the obvious. I'm still not letting go that masks don't Masks are pointless against an aerosllied pandemic, and we need to get that on the record and in the science and we should not let because they will do it again.

They will are There are people on masks on the plane back from Vegas. They still see people.

I still see people wearing masks, like, what are you doing? You are breathing the same air that I am breathing. It is filtering out nothing. You are delusional. So I'm not giving that up. But speaking of COVID, I think this is even more important than the record. Well, there's a lot. It's very important to the lab Okay, I don't say more important, but more imminent, more imminent. Better way of saying it than the lab League thesis. Issue is that Trump is signing an executive order reinstating thousands of troops who were discharged because they would not take the COVID nineteen vaccine.

Clay.

If you are of the age where you can be active duty military. The need for you to take the COVID shot was zero. There was no reason, And for guys in their twenties, thirties, forties, fifties, no reason, zero reason whatsoever if your immune system is so compromised as a thirty year old that you needed to take the COVID shot. On the military, I don't know what kind of warfighting you're gonna be doing, or what kind of deployments you're gonna do, but you know, it was insane. It was absurd that Trump is going to restore them with back pay and rank, and that Pete Hegseth obviously is going to be a you know, instrument of this. This justice is absolutely essential and this is one of those things we said all along that Trump should do this, and he's doing it.

Clay, another promise made and promise kept.

This is also important because a lot of you out there are like Buck and me, and that you started maybe even listening to this show because you couldn't find the truth on COVID elsewhere. When we started coming on this show together in June of twenty one, we were on the outliers when we were having people on saying, hey, the COVID shots not actually protecting people like it should. That was one of the Alex Bearnson in like July, was one of our first.

Guests July of twenty twenty one, and he said, guys, the shot does not stop transmission and it doesn't last very long if it lasts at all. And we got heat, we got heat from from the system for that interview, just so you know, that was not that did not go unnoticed. But we were looking at the data and we trusted Alex, and that has been He was right, true, he was right, he was right. Yes, four years later, nearly we were nearly one hundred percent right on that. So as the twenty twenty four election played out, some of you, millions of you probably listening to us right now, liked DeSantis because you believed that he was the best of a governor leadership role at handling COVID.

I mean, and Buck lives in Florida.

Is because Ron DeSantis did such a good job with COVID compared to New York State, his hometown, his home state, and certainly we think that Ron DeSantis, I think it's fair to say Buck probably the best governor in America. Like if you told me to rank governors right now. I would say Ronda Santles of Florida, number one governor in America. But a lot of the Santas supporters were angry at Trump because they said Trump didn't get COVID right. Trump listened to Fauci too much. Trump deferred too much to the Gavin Newsoms of the world. Basically, he allowed federalism to work, and state and local authorities in many parts of the country made decisions that were wrong on COVID and therefore you didn't support Trump. And what we have said is Trump far better than Biden. And Trump is going to get a lot of COVID right now, and I think this is evidence of that. They're around eight thousand reportedly service members who lost their jobs because of their refusal to get the COVID shot Trump.

How must he would do this? I think he did it on this show.

Said Hey, if I get back in office, I'm going to bring those guys and gals back and give them back pay to bring them back into our military. So now I bet some of them are right now, Buck. I bet some of the eight thousand or so people who were discharged for refusing to get that COVID shot. They're listening to us right now. Another promise made, another promise kept. Was Trump perfect on COVID No, But this is him acknowledging that Biden reached way too far and that he's going to try to rectify yet another of the wrongs of the Biden era.

And speaking of rectifying those wrongs, Sexuary Defense Pete Hegseth is going into the corridors of DEI at the Pentagon with the heavy artillery. He is not holding back. This has cut sixteen. He just says, it's it's done, folks. That and the COVID mandate stuff. We're selling scores on that as well.

Place today there are more executive orders coming that we fully support on removing DEI inside the Pentagon, reinstating troops who were pushed out because of COVID mandates, Iron Dome for America. This is happening quickly, and as the Secretary of Defense, it's an honor salute smartly as I did as a junior officer and now at the Secretary of Defense to and shure these orders are complied with rapidly and quickly. Every moment that I'm here, I'm thinking about the guys and gals in Guam, in Germany, Fort Benning and Fort Bragg on missile defense sites and aircraft period Our job is lethality and readiness and war fighting.

It's exactly what you want to hear from your secretary of Defense. You can juxtapose that with the previous Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, who I mean. I will never forget the photo of him. I believe you guys can check me on this one. I believe he was double masked and wearing a plastic visor during COVID.

He was a triple masker. He went with the three. I think he was with the three.

It is a major congratulations to Pete, as we said, but these are I think it's important that we hit all these because it's promises made promises. Captain Buck, We've never seen anything like this. I just want to keep making sure that we hammer this home. We're all so used to politicians lying to us about what they're going to do that I don't think a lot of people have really recognized the transformational and historic nature of the Trump two point zero presidency so far. He ran on an incredibly detailed platform and told you all exactly what he would do and in his first week in office and now into week two, all he's doing he's basically got a checklist, and he's just going down the checklist, and he's checking each of the things that he told you he would do right off the checklist. Politicians lying buck that people don't even remember seeing this.

Remember they deployed the whole Russia collusion lig Trump in term one, which was a massive time suck for the administration. For I talked to Trump about it a few times.

It.

You know, they had people that had to go into Lawyer's deposition, all kinds of stuff, you know, speaking of the fbis being in Congress. They they used all these dirty tricks to try to subvert the agenda. And what's interesting now, Clay is it's like the uh, you know, it's like the cannons don't have any cannonballs in them, Like they just don't have anything right now. They are coming up empty. So you're seeing what Trump is doing without people guming up the works and committing honestly, just committing sabotage against his administration, which is what happened right away in twenty seventeen.

Virtually no leaks and so far the top opponent to Donald Trump is Selena Gomez.

I like Trump.

This is one of like Yeah, it's one of those times also where if you could pick somebody to lead the opposition, Selena Gomez as the head the opponent of the Trump immigration policies. I don't know that he could have picked somebody better than a clueless moron from Hollywood who doesn't understand what's going on. It's absolutely perfect we come back. Tom Homan has already weighed in on the Selena Gomez video, and I think you guys are gonna like his answer. We'll play that for you when we come back. In the meantime. Look, one win after another. That's what Donald Trump's time in office is doing.

One thing.

I think we can all say. Trump's got pretty good energy. Guy was all over the country. He's working all hours, seventy see seventy nine now seventy eight, whatever the heck he is. Welcome back in Clay Travis buck Sexton Show, proving how adept they are at responding to the narrative of the day. Tomholman, who is in the process of deporting thousands of violent criminals from this country also locking down the border, was just on Foxnews, I Believe, talking with Sondra Smith of Fox and News about Selena gomez crying video claiming that the Trump administration is deporting her people. Let me mention this book our team researched. Selena Gomez's mom is Italian and her dad was a second generation from Mexico. Her grandparents came in the nineteen seventies to the United States. So to your point, her people should mean Americans because she's a third generation at minimum American who has lived with a mom who has Italian origin for some time. Just FYI in the state of Texas. It would be weird if something bad happened in Ireland. Then I started crying about my people. Yes, they were my people one hundred and fifty or two hundred years ago.

My people are Americans. Yeah, right, this is what I this is with my point, Yeah, totally, here is here is right now.

Tom Holman asked directly about the crying video from from Selena Gomez. Listen, what do you say to those who are out there saying that these are everyday people, these are.

Families that are being attacked and dragged out of their homes. How do you respond to that.

I don't think we arrested any families. We've arrested public safety and threats and national security threats, bottom line. And look, President Trump won the election on this one issue, securing our border and saving lives. This what happened on our southern board lasts four is the biggest national security threat this country scene, at least in my lifetime, because we've got over two million known guidtherways, you've got six hundred percent increase in sex trafficking. We've got a record number of terrorists acrossing the board on terrorist wash list. We have quarter million Americans diving fentana froming across the open border. We're going to do this job and we're going to force the laws of this country. If they don't like it, then go to Congress and change the law. We're going to do this operation law apology. We're going to make our community safer. We're going to save well. Once we lock that board on continuous operation, you're going to see fetanyl dest decrease, illegal alien crime decrease, sex trafficking decrease. It's just all for the good of this nation. And we're going to keep going. No all policies were moving forward.

He's the best dude, he really is. He's just a plus.

And I love that they're already responding and just slamming this before it can even really start to have any sort of support behind it. Buck And this is what you gotta have. Steel spines. People who are committed to the president's orders and don't tiptoe up to it because you happen to get some emotionally overreactive morons in Hollywood trying to push back against it.

Well, if you remember, it happened in the first Trump administration with the family separation policy, which they actually backed away from, and we gave them an inch, and then they took a whole lot more after that. They just as soon as they got the chance with Biden, they kicked the border wide open. Clay's gonna talk super Bowl stuff here in a few minutes, So I got to go to a doctor.

Clay's gonna talk super Bowl. It's going to be good words.

Welcome back in Klay Travis Buck Sexton Show. Appreciate all of you hanging out with us as we are rolling through the program. We are joined now by Kansas Senator Roger Marshall. We're gonna talk about the confirmation hearings that are coming up, all that and more. In the meantime, though, are the Kansas City Chiefs ever.

Gonna lose again?

That's a great question, you know this, Dad, I'm gonna throw at you. Eight times out of eight in playoff football when Patrick Mahomes has been behind or tied, he's led the Chiefs to a victory eight out of eight. I think not even the Tom Brady could do that. So he's chasing He's chasing tom Brady the goat.

Yeah, there's no doubt.

And we're gonna see what happens with Super Bowl coming up next week down in New Orleans. Like I said, I'll be down there Thursday Friday. Hopefully Bourbon Street will be back up and running. I know fourteen people lost their lives there just a few weeks ago, and I also know that New Orleans got hit with the biggest snowfall I think in the history recorded history of the city. So can't wait to get down there. On the Washington DC Front, Senator, a lot more nominations coming forward this week, including RFK Junior, Tulsea Gabbard, Cash Betel. Based on your reading of the landscape right now, how do you think all three of those and more are looking from a confirmation basis? Are you optimistic?

You know, I'm very optimistic for different reasons. But I think once we got Pete Hegg set across the finish line. I think that set the stage for the rest of them. I think with Bobby Kennedy maybe the most controversial, but he also has the largest ground swell of people out there supporting him, and President Trump realizes that when when Bobby Kennedy endorsed President Trump, Trump's numbers went up. I think this Republican Party, the ten is bigger than it's ever been. These people are very politically active, They're very loud, and I think Bobby Kennedy's going to do a great job. He's absolutely a disruptor. I'm looking forward to working with him to make America healthy again. Sixty percent of Americans have a chronic disease right now, and that's mostly determined by what we eat and the toxins were exposed to. So I think he's going to be great for America, a great disruptor, and I can't wait to work with him to help make America healthy again.

Right.

Beth gets in as Defense Secretary Friday evening.

But it was fifty to fifty.

You had Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins all in your fifty three vote. Republican majority vote against those individuals do you think that there will be unanimity from the Republicans? Do you expect some defections? What are you hearing about these new confirmations coming forward.

Yeah, I think there's going to be some defections. I wish I could say differently, but I think that Bobby could pick up several Democrats as well. I think a lot of those folks over there have been preaching the same message regarding proper nutrition, healthy nutrition. So I think that Bobby's going to pick up some Democrats. He may lose some Republicans that Pete didn't lose as well. You know, Tulsi bet, I bet it could well be a fifty to fifty gig as well. I don't know she'll pick up many many Democrats and Cash could Cash may grease by with fifty one. We'll see what happens, But I'm optimistic. I think that people realize seventy seven million Americans voted for Donald Trump. These are as people. Yes, they're change ages, they're disruptors. They don't always fit the model that they're expecting, but that's what we love about them. So we're ready to play the game.

We're talking with Senator Roger Marshall from the state of Kansas. We're breaking this down. You just mentioned that there may be difficulty on the Democrat side for Robert Kennedy Junior and Tulsi Gabbard. I just want to remind everybody Tulca Gabbard ran for president as a Democrat in twenty twenty and served multiple terms as a Democrat congresswoman from Hawaii for seventy.

Three and a half. I believe Robert F.

Kennedy Junior is seventy four for seventy three and a half of those years arefkj one as a Democrat. What does it say about Trump broadening the coalition for the Make America Healthy Again movement? But also, these are two former Democrats that now Democrats are saying, well, these are way too radical of choices for Donald Trump to have inside of his cabinet. That's pretty crazy from a political perspective, isn't it.

Yeah, yeah, Clay, to your point, I nancewer we call hypocrites. If Heaven forbid, Joe Biden was still president and he had nominated Bobby Kennedy, it would have been brilliant, right, Halsey Gabbert, What a brilliant choice. But instead they resort to personal character assassination, they resort to politics. They're going to find something wrong with all of them. And I get that. I don't agree with Bobby Kennedy on several things, but we agree that we both want to make America healthy again. Tolsi. I'm not sure about some of these past visits she's made, but in our set down session, she said, I promise to make things more transparent that when in doubt, she's going to say, Congress needs to see this, and when possible, Americas to see this as well. We're already seeing John Ratcliffe right now opening up the COVID file on FALLACI and showing America what most of us already knew is that the virus was made there in Wuhan, China, and they had a lab league. You know, Cash is up here just throwing grenades at people, saying, let's shut down the FBI building. How about sending all these FBI agents out with their badges and guns and chasing bad guys. What an original thought. So he is absolutely changing the way the game's played up here, and that's why Americans voted for Donald Trump. But to your point, the Democrats are hypocrites. On this issue.

What do you expect to see in the Super Bowl?

Oh, super Bowl Gosh. I think it'll be a little bit more high scoring than that I was expecting. I think it's going to be thirty some points. I think that you're going to see Andy Reid go down as their most brilliant offensive mind going back to some of those really good San Francisco forty nine er teams as well. I think you're going to see Patrick Mahomes to define his future and what it looks like to be the Goat. But Philadelphia has an incredible team that's going to be incredibly competitive. I think it's going to be a great game.

No doubt. What else should we know going forward?

There's been a lot of debate about one big, beautiful bill, as Trump has called it, versus breaking up a lot of what's trying to happen once we get through the confirmation process. Let me ask you that, how long do you think it will take for this confirmation process to play itself out and for Trump to be able to have his full team of individuals out there working for him.

Yeah, I think that we're a We're right on schedule. We're keeping up with the Obama schedule for confirmations, but it could take well two months, maybe three months to get them all across the finish line. But I think we'll get these important ones done here within the in the next month. Then moving forward, we are working very hard on this reconciliation bill to fulfill President Trump's campaign promises. He needs more money to secure the border US to drill baby drill, So we're passing some regulatory process. We're actually rolling back regulations in that process to allow energy to start growing again as well, and then I think you'll be on that. We need some funding for the military as well. We have a couple other big issues out there facing us. The government's funding ends March fourteenth, sometime the end of the spring, we hit our debt limit, so I'm thinking about all three of those at the same time. I'm not sure the House can get all that done that they're wanting, but we'll get as much of it done as we can, I hope by April, and we may have to come back and take a second bite of the apple in the early summer.

All right, good stuff, as always appreciate the time. Senator Marshall, We'll talk to you again enjoy the Super Bowl next week.

Hey Clay, thanks so much, Go cheez.

That is a center Marshall from Kansas. Let me tell you something. We came really close to winning our Prize Picks pick. In fact, Josh Allen tried to score rushing football a couple of times down close. If he had done it, we would have won our ten to one. The other three all hit. I'll have a pick for you next week for the Super Bowl that I imagine huge numbers of you will be watching. But in the meantime, I want you to get fifty bucks. All you have to do is go to Prize picks dot com. Use code Clay. That's pricepicks dot com. Code Clay. You can play in California, you can play in Texas, you can play in Georgia, you can play in Florida. And guess what. Price Pick's got a radical idea. They think everybody should be able to play, and everybody should be able to have a good time while doing so. Forty plus states, ten million of you so far have signed up five dollars pick you get fifty dollars. I don't know very many advertisements we've ever done where I've said, hey, you get fifty bucks just for doing this from your phone. Type in Prize Picks use code Clay, Boom, you get fifty bucks. That's Prize picks dot Com code Clay.

The super Bowl of Politics is in the history.

Lab or wherever you get your podcasts.

Several of you wanted to react, and we have a couple of calls as well, but I promised that I would play this a while back. This was John Stewart saying finally, now that the CIA also comes out and says, hey, COVID probably leaked from a Chinese lab, something that you me, most of us with functional brains, have believed for years. John Stewart in twenty twenty one, I think this was the summer or fall of twenty twenty one, went on Stephen Colbert's show and ripped the idea that COVID had come from anywhere other than a Chinese lab.

Listen, there's a chance that this was created a lab.

There's an investigation, a chance there's a novel respiratory coronavirus overtaking wu Han, China.

What do we do?

Oh? You know who?

We could ask the Wuhan novel respiratory coronavirus lab.

The disease is the same name as the lab. That's just a little too weird, don't you think?

And then they ask those scientists.

They're like, so, wait a minute, you work at the wu Han respiratory coronavirus lab.

How did this happen?

And they're like a pangolin kiss the turtle.

And you're like, no, the name of your lab right if you look at the.

Name, Look at the name. Can I let me see your business card? Show me your business card?

Oh, I work at the coronavirus lab.

In wo Han.

Oh, because there's a coronavirus loose in Wuhn.

Back could very well be.

And Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins and Annihr said like, you should definitely be investigated.

Stop with the logic and people and things.

The name of the disease. Wait a second second, building, the only.

Coronavirus we have is in Woohan, just where they have a lab called what's.

The lab called against hid The.

Wool hand novel Throneavirus Lab I believe the hot Taste.

That was in June of twenty twenty one. Okay, I give credit to John Stewart, not for being some brilliant savant there, but for just being willing to be rational and look at the facts and the evidence and say publicly what now everybody is willing to say publicly. But remember many of you got censored. Bucket Eye got censored for saying that all of the evidence supported that this was a Chinese lab leak. Doctor Fauci tried to shut down any discussion of this at all. The New York Times lead writer said that it was racist to say that the virus leaked from a Chinese lab. I've never understood personally how it's first of all racist at all. Right, we name viruses we should have stuck with it's the China virus. We name viruses based on where they came from. Lime disease, Lime, Connecticut, I believe, is where it was initially discovered. It's not an insult to the people of Connecticut. The Ebola virus is named, I believe, after the river that runs through the area where the virus was first discovered. Sometimes do we get things wrong. The Spanish flu may not have originated in Spain, but that was where it was first detected Geographically. Associating virus with their location is actually important because it helps us to understand how the outbreak occurred. This was considered common sense for most of scientific history until they decided that it was racist to call it the China virus or do suggest that it came from a Chinese lab, which it did, and somehow it was less racist, which never made sense to me to say, actually, it came from a Chinese wet market, because they eat anything in China and that's how it ended up in humans. Anyway, that I do think is worth discussing and sharing. As now, the CIA, five years later, nearly after the initial outbreak of COVID, says, oh, yeah, by the way, it did come from there. I also want to play you this. I had the team pull this. There are a lot of you out there. I'm one of them who may have voted Democrat in the past, and you may sometimes look around and feel like, what in the world has happened? How did we end up in a world where things that were considered basic common sense just a few years ago are now considered radical.

So I had them pull this clip.

This is Barack Obama in twenty fourteen saying, if you commit crimes in America and you're here illegally, you will be deported. This was Democrat orthodoxy. This was something that Hillary would say. This was something that every Democrat basically in the country agreed with. Republicans on, come here, commit a crime, You're gone. Here's Obama twenty fourteen.

If you're a criminal, you'll be deported. If you plan to enter the US illegally, your chances of getting caught and sent back just went up. The actions I'm taking are not only lawful, there are the kinds of actions taken by every single Republican president and every single Democratic president for the past half century.

Okay, I just wanted to play that for you. Selena Gomez is now crying because Donald Trump is doing what every president basically before Joe Biden considered to be basic responsibility of the president of the United States. And I think there's probably a whole book, and maybe one day I'm going to write it because I have this deep thesis that the fact that the country went crazy is directly connected to social media and the sphere of influence becoming far left wing San Francisco Silicon Valley, which now is spinning back in a different direction. But it led to a lot of things that many of us would have considered to be crazy and most of us still do consider to be crazy becoming unacceptable. Things like hey, if you commit a crime in the United States and you're here illegally, we're going to deport you immediately was something that universal agreement basically existed across Democrat and Republican. How about things like men shouldn't be able to pretend to be women and win women's sports championships in twenty ten when I was in sports, if I had made that argument, everybody would have rolled their eyes and said it was crazy. We made movies ridiculing that in the early two thousands. They created a censorious culture that was more radical, I think than anything that has happened in our lives, and I think we're just scrappling with the consequences of what that unleashed. And in my thesis here, Trump is actually a reaction to this more so than he's the cause of it. Because all Trump has said, I agree with everything Trump is doing. It's all basic common sense. I don't even see it as particularly rooted in one political philosophy or the other.
