Hour 2 of the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show centers on a wide-ranging mix of politics, sports, free speech, culture war issues, and critical analysis of the 2026 midterm elections. The hour opens with an in-studio interview featuring former NBA player and human rights activist Enes Kanter Freedom, who discusses his support for Tennessee gubernatorial candidate Marsha Blackburn, his criticism of the Chinese Communist Party, and the repercussions he says he faced after speaking out about human rights abuses in China while playing in the NBA. Freedom recounts how broadcasts of his team’s games were affected in China following his comments and discusses his belief that his outspoken criticism of Beijing contributed to the end of his NBA career. He credits Blackburn as one of the first political leaders to publicly support him and explains why he has become active in her campaign efforts.

A major portion of the hour focuses on the ongoing national debate surrounding women’s sports and transgender athlete participation. Freedom discusses his highly publicized effort to declare for the WNBA draft as a political statement intended to challenge league policies. Clay and Buck explore his criticism of the WNBA’s handling of gender eligibility standards, his calls for the league to adopt explicit biological sex definitions, and his broader argument that women’s sports should be protected from biological male participation. The conversation examines the cultural and political implications of gender policy debates, cancel culture, sports governance, and public reactions to these issues. Freedom also speaks about congressional inquiries directed at the WNBA and his concerns about how professional sports organizations address the controversy.

The interview continues with Freedom describing what he says were attempts to prevent him from attending WNBA games as a spectator despite purchasing premium courtside tickets. He recounts interactions with security personnel, law enforcement, and league officials, while also discussing threats he says he has received as a result of his public advocacy. The hosts use the discussion to examine broader themes involving free speech, political activism in sports, public backlash, and athlete involvement in social and political debates. Freedom emphasizes that his position is focused on protecting women’s sports while rejecting accusations that his views are motivated by hostility toward transgender individuals.

After the interview, the program shifts into a lighter segment featuring listener reactions to an ongoing discussion about popular American chain restaurants. Listeners weigh in on Buck Sexton’s lack of experience with establishments such as The Cheesecake Factory and Texas Roadhouse, while Clay continues defending his enthusiasm for chain dining. The hosts engage in a humorous exchange about regional dining preferences, upscale casual restaurants, favorite restaurant chains, Michelin-starred dining, and the cultural differences between urban and suburban food experiences. Restaurants discussed include The Cheesecake Factory, Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Maggiano’s, Buca di Beppo, P.F. Chang’s, Chili’s, Ruth’s Chris, and several others. The segment provides comic relief amid the show’s normally intense political coverage and generates substantial listener engagement.

The second half of the hour returns to politics with an extensive interview featuring Senator Roger Marshall of Kansas. With the 2026 midterm elections just one week away, Marshall and the hosts focus on voter turnout, early voting data, Republican Senate control, and key battleground races. Marshall argues that Republican voters must match Democratic early-voting enthusiasm in order to preserve the GOP Senate majority and advance President Donald Trump’s agenda. The discussion highlights issues including border security, immigration policy, taxes, military funding, voter turnout operations, and the national importance of Kansas despite its reputation as a reliably Republican state.

Marshall also discusses the financial dynamics of his Senate race, arguing that Democratic outside spending has dramatically increased the competitiveness of the contest. The interview explores campaign fundraising, national political groups, and concerns among Republicans that traditionally conservative states cannot be taken for granted in a high-turnout election cycle. Clay and Buck repeatedly emphasize the importance of voter participation in states such as Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio, Texas, and Alaska, arguing that Republican success depends on strong turnout among voters who supported President Trump.

Throughout the hour, Clay and Buck analyze broader midterm election trends, arguing that available early-voting data does not indicate the emergence of a Democratic wave election. They discuss Senate control, Republican voter motivation, campaign strategy, and what they view as signs of growing competitiveness across several states. The hosts repeatedly encourage listeners to vote early and remain engaged in the final week before Election Day, stressing that races in traditionally Republican states could be much closer than voters expect.
