Today, in the West, it might be hard to imagine what it means to have to keep our faith a secret. But there are two secret disciples in the Easter story - Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. They enjoyed power and prestige among the religious elite - but had to keep their love for Jesus quiet. In this episode, Dan helps us understand how courage looks different on different people in different situations.

By including these men in the Easter story, God shows us how he works in mysterious ways to accomplish his purposes in the world.

Today it might not seem so strange that women were the first to see the empty tomb of Jesus or that women were the first ones to announce the empty tomb to the rest of Jesus’ followers. But in the Greco-Roman world, women were not the messengers the world trusted to bear important news. And yet, the gospels record women beholding and telling, seeing and sharing, weeping and waiting.

In this episode, we look at the religious leaders of the day, the Pharisees, Scribes, and Sadducees. Many of us don’t really know who these people were, but that doesn’t keep us from not liking them and not wanting to be like them. As Dan looks at their role in the Easter story, we find more of ourselves in them than we would like to admit.
