Physician-scientist Dr. Velva Boles returns to our classroom this Tuesday morning. Dr. Boles will discuss urgent A.I. issues affecting her home state of Louisiana, including the impact of Applied Digital Corporation’s $3.6 billion A.I. data center and the staggering $50 billion A.I. center currently under construction. What do these technological advancements mean for our Black communities? Dr. Boles will reveal the opportunities, risks, and real-life effects these projects have on our neighbors. She will also address a controversial Women and Children Detention Center run by ICE and shed light on rising tensions in Guyana. Before Dr. Boles, renowned economist Dr. Julianne Malveaux will preview an important forum on Cuba, making a compelling case for why African Americans must engage with the issues at hand. We will kick off the session with Dennis Boatwright, director of the Center for Pan-African Studies in Detroit, setting the stage for an inspiring morning of discussion and action.
