Michaela ‘Mickey’ Togias is a 11-year-old football sensation from Sydney’s south-west. Having never played football before, at the age of six, Mickey came home from school asking to play for ‘Team Girl Power’ in a summer competition. It wasn’t long until Mickey signed up with local team Oran Park Rovers where she could finesse her skills before successfully trialling for her local representative team, the Macarthur Rams.  Mickey has always been the smallest in her teams, but what she lacks in size she makes up in courage. She was only eight years old when she played her first season for the Rams in their U10s squad, and in her second season in 2022 she was the top goal scorer for her team.  Last year, Mickey attended a Juventus Academy Trial. She was initially nervous because she was the only girl there, but she managed to impress the coaches and they offered her a spot in their squad to play in Italy this June. She’s also caught the eyes of English Premier League Academy scouts at the Global Football Network Showcase who have offered her a scholarship to play in the UK August 2023.  There are many challenges that Mickey has had to overcome when playing football, such as her size, her gender, injuries and her age, however with hard work and dedication, she has been unstoppable. She seeks inspiration from the Matildas, with some of her favourite players being Hayley Raso, Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter. She hopes to inspire other young girls like herself to dream big.

Kellie Britnell speaks with Rosh about a significant topic; eSafety.  Kellie is an online safety expert with over 15 years of experience in this space. She leads a talented team supporting eSafety’s awareness and capability initiatives. A career highlight at eSafety includes representing the agency on the online safety expert panel for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Kellie develops and delivers professional learning and resources for a variety of audiences and sectors including parents and carers. She has also created domestic and family violence related online safety initiatives and developed key partnerships with universities, education bodies, sporting organisations and support services. 

Ramya, an indoor plant and succulent expert chats to Rosh . Ramya is a mum from the Hills district who began her plant and succulent journey during the start of the COVID pandemic.  Ramya shares her joys of spending time in nature, the benefits of introducing indoor plants into your home, and advice on how to care for plants/succulents.

She is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales where she is involved in ongoing medical research and teaching of medical students. Rebecca is the lead researcher of a collaborative uterine transplant project. The project aims to give women born without a uterus, or who have lost their uterus due to cancer, the opportunity for pregnancy and to fulfil their dream of achieving motherhood.

Her PhD involved investigating the impact of honeybees on native bees and pollination networks , and the impact of urbanisation on native bees. Dr Kit's research ranges from pollination ecology, to native bee ecology and behaviour, citizen science, critiquing methods for surveying pollinators, undertaking biodiversity assessments. She is a renowned science communicator, performing under the persona of 'Bee Babette.'

Susana is an entrepreneur, self-taught baker, cake decorator, and cake artist with over 10 years of experience . Susana talks to Rosh and Rimz about her courageous career journey - from a Banker to a Baker. Susana has experience in wedding cakes theme cakes, cupcake bouquets, cookies, macaron towers, choc dipped strawberry towers, dessert cups, and lebanese sweets. Susana is a wife and mother who has completed a small business certificate through the NEIS program.

Neha Jain shares her thoughts on cultivating a learning environment that is all about curiosity, play, and creativity in order for children to learn about their bicultural heritage.  Neha is an Early-years Teacher, Parenting Coach, and a mum of two children. Neha was born and raised in Singapore and now resides in the Hills District. Neha completed her Bachelor Of Education from the University of Melbourne. She has over 10 years of teaching experience and has helped develop curriculum for the University of Swinburne. She has taught in childcare centers, pre-schools, primary schools, and tutoring centers in NSW and Victoria. She is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, and English.  She believes it is essential to create play-based learning activities to assist children with learning another language. 

Rosh speaks with Joy Hopwood, an independent creative filmmaker. Joy has produced five award-winning independent films; The Gift that Gives, Get a Life, Alright, Rhapsody of Love, The Script of Life. Joy is skilled in the areas of guest lecturing, public speaking, performing arts, feature films, and film festivals.  Originally from Singapore, she came to Australia as a one-year-old and started her schooling journey in Western Australia. Thereafter, she graduated from Edith Cowan University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and her first job was as a presenter on Play School! Amanda White, a highly regarded Professor is welcomed into the the studio to chat with The Busy Mums about university life, new changes, and student mental health. Amanda started as a Lecturer and then transitioned into another role as an Associate Professor- focusing on student learning, mental health and teaching. Amanda runs a successful youtube channel- with around 100,000K subscribers; targeting students in the accounting field.  In 2022 Amanda won the AAUT Teaching Excellence Award for law, economics, business and related studies, ranking as the best university educator in these disciplines.

Maria leads a dynamic lifestyle between Sydney, Australia, and Las Vegas, Nevada, where she oversees her female-led film company, Phoenix Eye. During our studio conversation, Maria shares insights into her martial arts origins and how they paved the way for her journey in creating independent action films that champion a community and cultural development model. Cyana Duong speaks to The Busy Mums about how she came about pursing her career in floristry. Cyana left Vietnam to come to Australia when she was 17years of age, her birth story is exceptionally inspiring.   Cyana enjoys promoting sustainability and education in floristry waste, this has been her motivation to learning about the process of making dry and silk flowers.

Belinda Tabbaa returns to the studio to chat with the Busy Mums about her son's autism journey. She decided to work with the Autism Community Network for 7 years to help spread awareness and offer support to families. Belinda chats to us about her recent move from her position at ACN to focus on her personal and family life. She started the Facebook Group Cumberland Special Needs Mums to stay connected to families. The main objective of this group is to reach out and help as many people on their unique journey.  Belinda shares her wealth of knowledge about events and shares info and tips with the local community. 

Shakun Narang a single mum from the Hills chats to Rosh about her experience of living in Sydney and becoming an Australian Permanent Resident. Her journey from Singapore to Australia is inspiring and uplifting.  Shakun is an International Coaching Federation-accredited Career Coach and an experienced Talent Acquisition Partner. Her main goal is focused on working with people to explore their potential and achieve their professional goals.

She is a colorful, vibrant artist with technical know-how and kick-arse composition!

The Busy Mums welcomed Lindsay Hay into the studio to chat about the Vet industry and current pet health issues. Lindsay has extensive experience in animal health and is a general vet practitioner.  Lindsay grew up in Sydney and went to school at Normanhurst BH then to Sydney Uni and did vet science. He graduated in 1974 and in 1985 Lindsay moved to Baulkham Hills and started operating his Vet Hospital.  His practice now employs about 15 people including 5 other vets. Lindsay's interest is in general vet practice and pro bono wildlife. 

Kia Bailey from RSPCA chats on The Busy Mums Show about her experience in the animal care industry. RSPCA provides care to vulnerable animals, as well as support for current animal owners, and prospective owners.  Kia Bailey has worked for RSPCA NSW for five years as a Training and Outreach Officer. She also has 20 years of experience working in the animal care industry including specialist vet hospitals, animal rescue centers, and zoos. She is a mother to two children and has adopted animals from the RSPCA and also cares for wildlife. Her passion is helping people to help animals which is why she is keen to promote her training courses such as ‘Introducing your pet to a new baby’ and Basic Animal First Aid.

An informative chat with Stewart Nicholls about road safety and the festive season. Stewart is an expert road safety educator with over 35 years of experience in motoring. He is a fully qualified motor mechanic, has competed in the Australian Rally Championship and won his category in two consecutive Australian Safaris. He is the Managing Director of the Steer Safely Driving program and has trained thousands of people on how to drive safely on our roads. Stewart is also a professional driver that tests vehicles for the NSW Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme (VSCCS).”

Ana Casagrande chats with The Busy Mums about what interior designing involves and shares some tips on how to freshen up a home.  Ana holds a degree in Architecture, Interior design, Marketing, Reiki, Feng shui, and Enneagram. She has been an architect and interior designer for ten years. She aims to make people feel safe and happy in their environment, her approach is holistic.

Adam shares his career story as well as his favorite budget family-friendly recipes.  More About Adam: Adam has dedicated the last decade as the head chef at the Salvation Army’s ‘Project 614’ in Melbourne’s CBD. Leading a team, they serve up to 600 free meals a day to the city’s most vulnerable at their inner-city cafe. Adam is also an accomplished author, having penned two cookbooks: ‘One Table’ and his latest work, ‘Meals to Make Ends Meet,’ which received international recognition with a prestigious ‘Gourmand’ award for fundraising in the oceanic region.

The Busy Mums chat with Cate Whittaker, Playwright -Social Historian – Adult Educator. Cate educates us about the history of the Parramatta Female Factory and provides insights into the devasting stories of convict women.  In 1827, the Parramatta Female Factory saw convict women come together to rise up against the injustice they were forced to experience. Inspired by the tale of survival, acclaimed playwright and historian Cate Whittaker has since transformed the true stories into a play called ‘Forgotten’. Cate holds a BA hons Econ Hist Soc, MA hons Col. Historical Thesis, Cert Ed, TESOL, and is a textbook writer, editor, and playwright of Forgotten. 

Liz Stubbs is a Speech Pathologist who has worked with children for many years. Liz is currently employed directly within the Department of Education and works in four schools around Western Sydney. Liz aims to support the community by providing information and support to parents, teachers, and the wider community. Liz has a special interest in cultural and linguistic diversity and also supporting children through trauma. This episode covers statistics on communication disorders in children, the current supports available, and the importance of improving speech/communication skills in the early years of schooling.

Liling Ong, the Founder of PIEX Education chats to Rosh Vee from The Busy Mums Radio Show about the innovative STEAM program.  In 2016, Liling pursued her passion for working with children. To further equip herself to work with children, she completed a Master of Education (Leadership and Learning) at the University of Technology, Sydney in June 2020. She is also a Board Member of the Greater Cumberland Chamber of Commerce. Anu Bedi is a busy mum who runs a successful business and takes part in various community initiatives. 

The Busy Mums have a fun-filled chat with The Saba Brothers band. The Saba Brothers band started in 2010. Raymond, Steven, and Nathan a 3 brothers who have been brought closer together by music. Guitar, Drums, and Bass are their respective instruments. The Saba Brothers perform both cover songs and original music. Their genre is Pop/Rock. They have also released original music to Online Streaming Platforms (Spotify,iTunes, etc), and have performed both nationally and internationally. In 2022 they decided to expand the Saba Brothers to a larger line-up, creating VIBEZ. It is the core of what the Saba Brothers is, with additional band members - Dylan Plumridge (Keyboard), Zoe Naumovski (Lead Vocals) and Lauren Essex (Lead Vocals).  They have also added more genres to their repertoire, marketing themselves as a Wedding Band & Corporate Band.

Shane Davies leads Turtle Rescues NSW, saving thousands of Australian native freshwater turtles from certain deaths each year. He has set up ‘Turtle Town’ in his lower Mountains backyard – a ¼ acre sanctuary full of more than 200 turtles, frogs, and Eastern Water Dragons. It is a haven for injured turtles and surrendered pets.  Shane educates The Busy Mums about how turtles have been affected by the increase in local infrastructure. Shane shares his heartwarming story of how he became a full-time Turtle rescuer.
