Throughout the opening segment, he encourages listeners to think independently rather than blindly follow political figures. He also reminds pet owners to protect their animals from the extreme heat and invites callers to weigh in on the meaning of the phrase “take it with a grain of salt,” which he says guides how he views statements from politicians and public officials.
