Bongani Bingwa speaks to Dr Emmanuel Matambo, Research Director at the Centre for Africa-China Studies at UJ, about China’s decision to scrap all tariffs on exports from 53 African countries. The move marks a major policy shift, giving middle-income nations such as South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt and Morocco duty-free access to the Chinese market across a wide range of goods, from agriculture and textiles to minerals and manufactured products.
