New Social Relief of Distress grant regulations disqualify thousands of beneficiries

Bongani Bingwa shares this week’s Black Sheep Thinking feature powered by Camissa Asset Management, highlighting how unconventional ideas can transform the world. For decades, high jumpers used traditional techniques like the scissors or straddle, and progress had plateaued. Then Dick Fosbury tried something radically different, jumping backwards and arching his body over the bar in what became known as the Fosbury Flop. Coaches mocked it and judges doubted it, but Fosbury proved them wrong by winning gold at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City.

This bold dance opera blends movement, live music, and poetry to explore themes of creation, transformation, and the cycle of existence. Premiering in Cape Town, the show comes to the Joburg Theatre from 19 to 22 March, featuring the performers of Vuyani Dance Theatre and a world-class creative team. Known for creating performances that move and challenge audiences, Gregory shares what makes Genesis a journey rather than just a show, and what theatre-goers can expect from this immersive experience.
