Lizette Lancaster, Manager at the Institute for Security Studies' Crime and Justice Information and Analysis Hub, Alex Mitchell, Senior Researcher at the South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC), and Reana Steyn, Ombudsman for Banking Services, provided insight into the two types of kidnapping that are becoming more prevalent and concerning in South Africa, where people are either kidnapped for ransom or taken to an ATM to withdraw large sums of money. They went on to discuss how to deal with kidnappings, such as taking an anti-hijacking course and whether the bank will refund you if you are kidnapped and forced to withdraw money.
