Assistant Director of Jo'burg Childwelfare Chriselda Bunu and Director of Impilo Child Protection and Adoption Services Sue Krawitz confirmed that the non-profit sector met with Gauteng Premier Panyanza Lesufi and social development MEC Mbali Hlope, who promised to reverse the Gauteng social development department's decision to cut funding to NGOs, leaving many without support, and how many NGO have been forced to close down as the department has not lived up to their promise. Nkosana Mtolo, spokesperson for Gauteng MEC for Social Development, Agriculture, and Rural Development, responded that the department is working around the clock to guarantee that payments are made to the NGO and that the department plans to hold extended meetings with the government to resolve other difficulties.
