Bongani Bingwa speaks with Lisa Sukdev, the attorney representing aggrieved service providers, about concerns over Gauteng’s R9 billion school nutrition programme currently tied up in court, leaving 1.6 million learners without meals. Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona responded, noting the High Court ordered the department to release bid adjudication documents including records from the Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) and Bid Adjudication Committee (BAC), evaluation scorecards, school and learner allocations, and the criteria used to award contracts. He added that the department has since submitted the report and is awaiting a review.
