Road accidents and fatalities have cost the economy R143 billion in 2015, according to Gauteng Roads and Transport department chief engineer, Kobus Labuschagne. Labuschagne presented statistics at the 2017 Southern African Transport Conference and Exhibition being held in Pretoria on Tuesday. Breakfast show host Xolani Gwala reflected on this and said “We have get to wake up to the reality that we could be saving this country a lot of money if we invest in measures to deal with road accidents in South Africa”
