Bongani Bingwa speaks to Dawie Roodt, Director and Chief Economist at the Efficient Group, and Professor Siphamandla Zondi from the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Johannesburg, about the DA’s newly unveiled local government manifesto.
The party is promising better-run municipalities, reliable basic services, cleaner governance and greater economic opportunity, but the big question is whether these promises are practical and financially achievable.
They examine whether the DA’s record in municipalities it governs can realistically be replicated across South Africa, and whether this manifesto offers a credible blueprint for fixing local government or simply sounds better on paper than it may work in practice.
702 Breakfast with Bongani Bingwa is broadcast on 702, a Johannesburg-based talk radio station.
