Bongani Bingwa speaks to Kutlwano Masote, Curator and conductor of Classics on Turf about Some voices are simply too powerful to be forgotten, and Sibongile Khumalo’s is certainly one of them.  This November, her extraordinary musical legacy takes centre stage as Classics On Turf presents A Sibongile Khumalo Celebration on the 13th and 14th of November at the John Kani Theatre at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg. The concert, a fitting tribute to the late South African music icon, will celebrate her remarkable journey across jazz, opera, classical and indigenous music. It will bring together music director Tshepo Mngoma, conductor Kutlwano Masote and a line-up of accomplished singers and musicians, many of whom had the privilege of working alongside Khumalo. Audiences can expect a musical journey through some of her most memorable works, including the songs of Princess Magogo kaDinizulu.
