Lavora Barnes, chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, joins Edwin for a conversation on the last weekend before the November 5th election.
"When you are out in the field here in Michigan and you see the enthusiasm, you see the hard work that our candidates and our volunteers are doing, it's heartening, it's exciting, and it feels really good," Barnes told Edwin. "I was worried. I think a lot of us were worried that that boost of enthusiasm we got when when the vice president took the home at the top of our ticket would wane, and instead it's grown. I think somebody told me that we've had over 100,000 people reach out to volunteer since she became the top of the ticket, which is an enormous number. Hard to even imagine that many folks stepping into making phone calls and doing doing doors and such here in Michigan, but it's happening, and I feel I'm honored just by the enthusiasm that the people have and by the terrific organization we put together to manage it all."
