Just 9 schools around Waterford not 'Picker Pals'

View descriptionShare

Just 9 schools around Waterford remain unsigned up to the 'Picker Pals' initiative, which is completely free for schools.

Now in its 7th year, Picker Pals has worked with 70 schools around the county, teaching primary school pupils about caring for their area and the climate.

Gary Jones from VOICE Ireland, which manages the Picker Pals programme joined Ollie and Dymphna to discuss the concept.

He said lesson plans are available free of charge for classrooms, with options to allow one school to compete against another school in litter challenges.

Each pupil takes responsibility for their Picker Pack and it is brought home so that the whole family can get involved.

To date, some 900 pupils and their families around the county have got involved.

Play to listen back in full with the details of how to get involved.

Keep up to date on all the latest from The Big Breakfast Blaa with Ollie and Dymphna from 6am until 10am daily.
