During the Family Rosary Across America hosted live at the SEEK conference, Fr. Rocky welcomed a young woman wearing a veil she’d received from her aunt for Christmas. Then he asked the question that opens so many holy moments: “What’s your prayer intention?”

She didn’t offer something vague. She offered people.

With names on her lips and gratitude in her voice, she prayed for her “secular friends” to encounter Jesus: “...that they might come to experience the love and peace of Christ like I have, choose to believe in him and love him as well.” Then she added a simple, heartfelt thank-you for the friends who stayed close in her lowest moments and finished with, “I love you guys.”

Fr. Rocky immediately noticed something important: this prayer had history. “So this isn’t the first time you prayed for those friends?” he asked. When she said no, he smiled: “Because it just came right off, rapid fire.”

Then he made it practical for everyone praying the rosary. He shared how he prays for his own family by name and summed it up with a warm, unmistakably Catholic instinct: “That’s how we pray like Catholics.”

Rapid Fire Intentions: A Young Woman’s Prayer for Her Friends (Family Rosary Across America)

In this Best of the Week moment from Father Simon Says, Fr. Richard Simon points to Jesus, “moved with pity,” caring for both the mind and the body of the people He served. It's not sentimental compassion. In the same way He served the people around Him in His earthly life, Jesus teaches us and feeds us with love.

Fr. Simon continues: “Love is not what you feel. Love is what you do.” Feelings may come along for the ride, but love is an act of the will. Drawing on St. Thomas Aquinas, he explains love as “to will the good of another”, not just thinking nice thoughts, but actually seeking someone’s real good.

That’s why the Cross matters. Jesus did not stroll into Calvary with a grin; Fr. Simon reminds us that He didn’t want to be crucified, yet He obeyed the Father and offered Himself anyway. That obedience, God the Son giving His life for sinners, is love in its fullest form.

And it hits home in ordinary life. Love looks like putting your feet on the cold floor in the early morning to provide for your family. Love Is What You Do (Father Simon Says)

Mary called Marriage Unhindered from San Francisco, California, because she needed someone to hear her story and to help her find a way forward.

This January 28th will mark 10 years since Mary was struck in a crosswalk and pinned beneath a car. A trauma nurse and disabled veteran, she described how her mind went into “high gear” as she fought to survive. The injuries left her in constant pain and, at times, confined to bed. Through tears she admitted, “I don’t want to die. I want to live."

Guest Dr. Joyce Michael Flynn didn’t offer quick fixes. Instead, she urged Mary to focus less on the “why” and more on the “how”— the next faithful step in front of her. Start with the basics, she said: stable housing, safety, and the small daily choices that make endurance possible. Little by little, those steps can open new doors for purpose and spiritual strength.

Host Doug Hinderer then brought Mary back to a distinctly Catholic truth: suffering can become fruitful when it is united to Our Lord. He shared one of his favorite Bishop Sheen quotes that says “the greatest tragedy in life is wasted suffering.” Doug encouraged Mary to offer her pain to Jesus for important intentions like the souls in purgatory, the unborn, and loved ones who need grace.

Mary’s response showed that her vocation has not disappeared; it has changed. Even without internet at home, she uses the library to research and help fellow veterans navigate medical questions.

Mary’s cross is heavy, but her love is still active. And in Christ, no suffering offered with faith is ever wasted.

When Pain Won’t Let Go, Don’t Waste the Suffering (Marriage Unhindered)

On The Patrick Madrid Show, Noel from Chicago admitted he was tired of living in a loop: falling into pornography and masturbation, rushing to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and then stumbling again. The cycle left him “overwhelmed” and even made him doubt his faith.

Patrick didn’t shame him. He asked practical questions: Where does the temptation happen? The answer was clear: on his cell phone and in a room where he's alone.

Then came the counsel Noel needed to hear: “Get rid of the smartphone.” Patrick compared it to an emergency amputation. If the phone is the portal, remove the portal. Replace it with a simple phone that can’t browse the internet. It’s a hard step, but Noel agreed: “Yeah, 100%.”

Next, Patrick urged him to stop fighting alone. He recommended Catholic in Recovery for structure and accountability, and he strongly encouraged Noel to bring his father into the struggle: “Tell your father about this.” Not with embarrassing details, but with honesty and a request for help and boundaries.

Patrick also offered a sober warning: this habit “feeds on itself” and can grow darker over time. The good news is that freedom is real. Keep going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, take the radical first step today, and lean on God’s grace through community and family support.
