A Midnight Prayer to St. Anthony, and Nala Comes Home (Family Rosary Across America)

View descriptionShare

Some calls come in with heavy hearts and urgent needs. Others arrive as a gift of gratitude.

On Family Rosary Across America, Fr. Rocky and Maggie welcomed a caller named Rosemary from Modesto, California. When Fr. Rocky asked, “What’s your prayer intention tonight?” Rosemary didn’t bring a new request—she brought a praise report.

The night before, Rosemary had called about her daughter’s missing dog, Nala. She and her daughter kept praying, and Rosemary shared that they had both finished praying to St Anthony, “the patron of lost things,” at midnight, each in their own home.

And then came the moment that turned worry into joy: within five minutes, Nala walked right up to the back door.

When Fr. Rocky asked if Nala had any explanation for where she’d been, Rosemary simply said, “She was happy to be home, and so were we.”

Fr. Rocky wondered aloud if “a little guardian angel kind of nudged Nala back home,” and Rosemary responded with a grateful “Amen.” And when Fr. Rocky repeated the saint they had prayed to, Rosemary affirmed it plainly: “Saint Anthony.”

It’s a small story, but it’s the kind that reminds us why we bring everything to prayer: big fears, small worries, and even missing pets because God hears, and we’re never alone.
