D'Arcy Waldegrave: What's to come of the Wahs vs Storm fixture this evening?

View descriptionShare

Can the Wahs pick their biggest bogey this evening at Mt Smart?

The offending nose goblin, lodged deep in the nostril of the home team for 15 consecutive games, is even money to be picked and flicked as the Warriors look to pick up their fourth win on the bounce this year.

A full house, the return of Shaun Johnson to an almost full-strength side and the table topping Storm rolling up on a Saturday night is a mouthwatering prospect.

On the line for the visitors is the chance to extend their dominance over a side that had victory swiped from them at the hands of Xavier Coates, whose freakshow aerial try-scoring masterpiece shattered the Wahs in the dying seconds of their round 2 clash. Interestingly, the last time the Penrose kids beat the Storm, Nathan Friend pulled off one of the wildest passes seen, an aerial backflip through the legs move that was as freakish as Coates’ try.

There are only 2 Warriors players remaining from that fixture, Shaun Johnson and Tohu Harris, who was playing for the Storm.

That was 3,261 days ago.

So they’re due then?

Hmmmm.

Well, this is NRL, and this is the Warriors. After 3 sensational wins in a row, odds on they fluff their lines and the Storm blow through them.

The Warriors will dig deep, knuckle deep, but the long-time occupant of the Wahs nasal canal will probably remain, set to irritate for years to come.

That’ll do.
