The Hurricanes are determined to stay top of the Super Rugby table leading into the playoffs.

The Canes have been on the top rung of the ladder all season, but will be toppled if they lose to the Blues at Eden Park this afternoon.

Skipper Brad Shields says they don't want to drop apex status with the finals just around the corner.

Blues Prop Angus Ta'avao joined Elliott Smith to preview the top of the table clash.
