Dance artist Smeetha Maharaj started dance at the age of six. She has won various awards including the Thygaraja Award recognising her great contribution to the arts. She is the Artistic Director of the Nateshwar Dance Academy which specializes in the North Indian classical style of dance known as Kathak as well as various folk dances of India.
