I’ve been watching the Crown on Netflix. When a royal son or daughter is born there’s press involved, the entire country celebrates It’s way over the top. That's not how it was when Jesus was born. The biggest thing that always hits me when I read the story of Jesus' birth is how God didn't come down as a ruler or a king. He came down as a baby in a manger. So many times in history, our generation included, we look to political leaders, presidents, rulers to bring us peace and hope. But our Hope is so much bigger than a president, king or a politician. Matthew 2:5-6 says, "They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: “‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.” Jesus is the king of Kings.
