Fresh off the bye week, Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans joins Marc Vandermeer and John Harris in the Hyundai Texans Radio Studio to break down what the Texans learned about themselves before Sunday’s trip to SoFi Stadium to face the Los Angeles Chargers. Coach Ryans explains why he had his offensive coaches study the defense (and vice versa) in a brutally honest self-scout. He also covers how the Texans are rethinking the jumbo package and the back-to-basics plan to clean up tackling.

He also names TE Dalton Schultz as a future coach on his radar, shares lessons from Mike Shula at Alabama and Kyle Shanahan’s “whatever it takes” mindset, welcomes back DT Naquan Jones, and explains how he tunes out trade-deadline noise. Plus, he looks back on a bye-week reset with family, including his daughter’s first volleyball match, and remembers the Bessemer, Alabama teachers who shaped him.

The show also includes podium highlights on T Braden Smith, rookie C/G Keylan Rutledge, T Aireontae Ersery, DE Will Anderson Jr.’s leadership, and the loss of WR Jaylin Noel for the season.

The DeMeco Ryans Show is presented by Amegy Bank.
