Founded in 2009, the African Leaders Malaria Alliance, ALMA is a groundbreaking coalition of 49 Heads of State and government working across country and regional borders to eliminate malaria by 2030. ALMA provides African leaders with a forum where they can review progress, share lessons learnt and address the challenges of meeting malaria targets. Malaria is an entirely preventable and treatable disease. Since 2000, malaria mortality rates in Africa have fallen by 66% in all age groups, and by 71% among children under 5. Why combating malaria is still on the agenda? In the first part of this edition of “Tam Tam Express”, we bring you the latest on malaria control in Africa with the Executive Secretary of ALMA, Mrs Joy Phumaphi.
