The year 2016 marks important milestone in the continental and global women’s agenda for gender equality and women empowerment. Considering that 2015 was declared the year of women’s empowerment and development towards Africa’s agenda 2063, the 2016 theme of the 26th AU Summit, “Africa year of Human Rights with particular focus on the rights of women,” marked the second consecutive year that gender equality and women’s empowerment were adopted as the highest priority on the continental agenda. In this edition of “Tam Tam Express” I chat to the AUC Chairperson, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, about some of the issues that were raised during the Summit. Tune in for more.
