View descriptionShare

Tritium is a designer and manufacturer of charging stations for electric vehicles.  Paul has over 15 years’ experience working with technology focused businesses bringing new innovations to global markets and his professional background is in business and power electronics engineering.  He is passionate about the future of electrified transportation and loves driving his electric car every day.

Tritium background: Tritium is a Brisbane-based Electric Vehicle charging company.

  • In 1999 three friends at Uni of Qld developed a solar powered racing car which finished 3rd at the World Solar Challenge and was awarded the GM Sunraycer Award for Technical Achievement

  • In 2001 those friends set up a business developing innovative components for solar racing teams, battery management and inverter technology.
  • In 2012 they provided the battery management system for the Deep Sea Challenger that James Cameron took to the bottom of the Marion Trench.
  • In 2013, after 10 years of Research and Development, Tritium launched a 50 kW DC fast charger for Electric Vehicles. The Veefil-RT has been described as ‘’the most technologically advanced fast charger in its class”. This can charge the average EV to 80% in 30 minutes. It has since been exceeded by the Veefil-PK (up to 475kW) DC High Power Charger (mentioned above). This can add 150km of range in just 5 minutes
  • EVs make up just 0.2 per cent of new car sales in Australia, so talk of a boom is premature – we’re on the cusp of a boom but we aren’t there yet. There is talk of an EV “tax” to help replace fuel excise to fund roads; Paul believes a Road usage levy is a better way forward.
