The Social Science is an organisation which works to transform science and technology executives and organisations from novices to seasoned travellers in the social media world. In Michelle's view, social media has utterly transformed the field of scientific ethics. ‘When I worked for the Australian Stem Cell Centre, I engaged regularly with parliamentarians and the media about stem cell research and bioethics and emerging technologies,’ Ms Gallaher reflects. ‘Now, as social media democratises opinion leadership, the scientific ethics debate happens in public.’  Michelle has dedicated much of her career to encouraging women’s participation in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). She was formerly CEO of the BioMelbourne Network (the peak body for Victoria’s $50B Biotechnology sector), where she developed an extensive industry contact network that encompasses Beijing, Manchester, San Diego and Boston. As a passionate Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook user, Ms Gallaher regularly blogs and posts on local and international biotechnology and medical technology sites.

She has worked in biotech start-ups, major teaching hospitals, research organisations and pharmaceutical companies.
